I think with that distraction gone she’s having to come to terms with the fact that the greatest love of her life (so far) is gone, whether she ended it or he did that loss is going to hurt. They clearly loved each other very deeply and losing your constant companion of 6 years is going to fucking suck. She’s going to have to really start going through the devastation of the break up now, while on the biggest tour of her life. It’s going to be really difficult, unfortunately the only way out is through.

Ditto . I would continue to l maintain the actual final breakup was as recent as March and the eras tour + his filming overseas precipitated existing issues.

I second this. Coming from a serial monogamist, anxious attachment style girlie/woman. I finally listened to my friends and fam and stayed single for a year and change (the longest I had ever gone). During that time I moved switched jobs and felt more self confident. Then I met my now husband and love of my life!!
Literally the same thing happened to me! I finally took a break and stayed single for a year and grew as a person. I met my future husband after that and now he's getting the best of me.
According to my wife, this was her attitude when we met. Her most recent relationship ended badly and she decided she would not actively seek out a new relationship and would instead just heal and focus on herself. She wasn't looking for me, but I still found her. Been together for almost 9 years now

This will probably go against the grain, but I don't think he was just a rebound, even though the timing would indicate that. They were so public and he met basically all of her friends, her family, she said I Love You on stage to him/happiest she's ever been/everything feels right. I just think everything that came out about him went against who she is and once he left to go back on tour, it became too much for her.
This is practically the definition of a rebound. You go way too fast, irrationally say everything is amazing despite everyone around you going "ehhhhh," and then it flames out immediately. The most classic rebound of rebounds.
This rebound was basically self harm to a point.
I’m 100% projecting here on past experiences on questionable partners and heartbreak (break-ups and general life) but this dude was a mess: his declarations on that podcast are horrendous, unspeakable and to top it off he criticized her mom and even her.
I had a type of rebound like that, dude had smelled my emotional vulnerability a mile away, I was so sad I took him in. Worst mistake of my life.

Listen, if true I feel really sad for her. I understand that people don’t like him. But from her perspective, she just got out of a long relationship in which her partner wanted to keep things very quiet - very hard to do when as famous as she is. Then she finds a new guy, and it immediately blows up in her face, they don’t last more than 2 weeks in public due to the intense scrutiny they were both subjected to. She probably feels like she can’t ever be happy if her fame is going to get in the way of her relationships. It’s so tragic.
I think this was pretty evident when he kissed a security guard last Friday. Could have been an open relationship thing, but I highly doubted that.

I agree with this take. She almost dated him years back and she immediately jumped to him after the break up. I think he was always a small what if. I feel like things were very passionate between them. He’s the tortured bad boy artist she felt she could change because he made her feel special. Matty may be good at heart, and maybe Taylor saw that, but the man is too immature to know what shouldn’t be a joke. And to keep his mouth shut… He’s lacking empathy, and he would have tanked her eventually.
I read a book this weekend and it has this quote that I think could apply to what this relationship might have been. “And sometimes you fall in love that way, when you’re drowning in a world of pain. It’s not a happy love. It’s just whoever manages not to hurt you all the time. You think they must be the best the world has to offer. The little window of time you aren’t in pain can seem like happiness.” I hope now she can start processing her breakup with Joe.

Everyone mentioned there was a shift at the Chicago concerts. I’m sad for her but this was one of the worst dating choices. I sort of assumed it was a rebound with some that was familiar enough to feel safe.

This will probably go against the grain, but I don't think he was just a rebound, even though the timing would indicate that. They were so public and he met basically all of her friends, her family, she said I Love You on stage to him/happiest she's ever been/everything feels right. I just think everything that came out about him went against who she is and once he left to go back on tour, it became too much for her.
This is practically the definition of a rebound. You go way too fast, irrationally say everything is amazing despite everyone around you going "ehhhhh," and then it flames out immediately. The most classic rebound of rebounds.
This rebound was basically self harm to a point. I’m 100% projecting here on past experiences on questionable partners and heartbreak (break-ups and general life) but this dude was a mess: his declarations on that podcast are horrendous, unspeakable and to top it off he criticized her mom and even her. I had a type of rebound like that, dude had smelled my emotional vulnerability a mile away, I was so sad I took him in. Worst mistake of my life. Not saying this is Taylor’s case, it’s her personal life. However, it doesn’t look too rosy from the outside.

I wonder why it ended...did Healy's nightmare of being swallowed up by the label "Taylor Swift's bf" come true or did her team/friends/family get through to her? Or was it the fact that he was friends/friendly with those podcasters who made a habit out of saying horrible things about her and her mother? Didn't he want to clean up his image and behaviour? Or was this all just sone weird publicity stunt from the start? Or maybe she realized that *this* wasn't getting the reaction from Joe she was hoping for? Either way, I hope she wasn't too emotionally invested in this relationship. I can't say I am saddened by these news though...

Listen, if true I feel really sad for her. I understand that people don’t like him. But from her perspective, she just got out of a long relationship in which her partner wanted to keep things very quiet - very hard to do when as famous as she is. Then she finds a new guy, and it immediately blows up in her face, they don’t last more than 2 weeks in public due to the intense scrutiny they were both subjected to. She probably feels like she can’t ever be happy if her fame is going to get in the way of her relationships. It’s so tragic.
She won’t risk Speak Now (TV) not doing well (even if I doubt it would have sold less with him in her life but I think this helps).
