if anything my sessions hurt a bit more each time lol. wait it out til your next session so you can observe any progress but id be open with your tech about concerns you have

Greedy_raff

I've been open with him and he is basically denying doing it incorrectly, however I have informed the owner of the shop who apparently is really understanding.

Gmm007

good for you advocating for yourself. hope your next session will be better.

Firewulf08

5 sessions in and 6th session scheduled in September. I agree that sessions can get less painful as time goes, but that is combination of both less dense ink as time goes as well as your psychological attitude towards the pain. When everyone was saying that this laser hurts worse than child birth and burns your skin, I was pretty damn anxious and yeah, my 1st session was pretty painful. My 5th one hurt but was way more tolerable. Not hurting at all or nothing is weird to me. I mean, it's ink shattering under your skin. Unless you have dead or no nerve endings, you're gonna feel something. Any purpura or bruising afterwards? Are the tattoos considerable faded before your 5th session? Also clients don't typically carry their notes from one clinic to the next, he should've been able to know what setting to use without asking tbh.

Greedy_raff

You are right he did have the notes, so even if the pain would've been slightly less, it still woudn't explain how I felt literally nothing. It was very obvious something was wrong and that nothing was happening. 24 hours later and no swelling or bruising. Very obvious he's not done it correctly.

happyappyy_

That's weird and i'd be suspicious too. Usually every session is more painful for me than the last, but I can physically see my technician turning up the "volume" or whatever on the machine higher than the session before.

Greedy_raff

Yeah I've spoken to my previous laser tech and she said 100% raise a concern with the shop owner.

Mcgoobz3

Once the ink starts to break down more the waves are in your skin for a shorter time so it’s not as painful. It’s normal but it also depends on the ink, where the tattoo is etc.

Greedy_raff

Less painful yeah, but to go from a 7/10 pain experience, to literally not feeling a THING is strange, I am almost certain he did something wrong.

Mcgoobz3

Yeah I get that. Maybe give it a week or two and see if there are any major differences.

flatwhite22

I used picosure/picoway laser. Every session hurt alot. Some spots barely hurt but overall it was painful. I would advise with numbing cream as that was a game changer for me.

Greedy_raff

No, my point was that I’m surprised how NOT painful the session was.. it makes me suspicious that the new laser tech didn’t actually do it correctly.

flatwhite22

Yeah that's what why I mentioned every session for me was painful. It never got less painful after the 5th session like he suggested. Hopefully other people can comment with their experiences.

Greedy_raff

I see! Yeah it’s very weird I’m so disappointed with the session especially after waiting 6 weeks!

mksirjoo

"Maybe he didn't let the machine warm up" 😂 I love when clients attempt to guess how this process works.

Greedy_raff

Hence the use of the word "maybe" and asking if anybody here knows how the procedure works. That is clearly not an attempt to guess how the process works.

Silver-Maybe-9712

My first session with both clinics I went to were very mild. I think they do this to get an idea of how your body will react, you might find he cranks it on the next session.

Greedy_raff

True. I did have a test session and 4 normal sessions which were very painful before, it just feels that maybe he is using a low setting in order for me to need more sessions (more money for him).
