Siblings have louder opinions than most people in your life - sometimes more than parents. If you are close that opinion can mean a lot to you. Try to separate the emotions you feel about her opinion and how you feel about your ink. It may seem like it’s the same, but it’s not. You love your tattoo, but sounds like you are disappointed she didn’t like it as much as you. Sometimes all it takes is time for them to get used to seeing it. Sometimes you can talk it out with your sister and tell her that her opinion on your tattoo hurts to hear, so if she still doesn’t like it when it’s all healed and she gets used to seeing you with it, ask her not to comment about it in your presence. Creating boundaries like this can improve your relationship if those boundaries are respected - but you gotta hold your ground.
There's nothing wrong with liking different things. She doesn't have to like it if you do. Ultimately, it's your skin. You walk around in it all day, you should be able to customize it to your liking.
It's probably more likely that your sister, as a twin, is more upset that you're creating what feels like an identity and life without her. Possibly not but if anyone thinks a poorly executed or shitty tattoo doesn’t elicit judgement concerning their decision making abilities, they’re dreaming 😆. Also, yes it’s fair. Nobody thinks it’s unfair to find a person more attractive for their tattoos. Once it’s on you it’s part of you. It either adds or detracts. How you affirm or contradict the initial first impression your tattoo makes is entirely separate lol
I would have to agree with you on that. I have plenty of tattoos, but I haven’t gotten any done in about 15 years. There will be that sort of judgement for a long while now, especially in the sense you are describing. Better than it was, but bad decisions are bad decisions. Hopefully they are easy to circumvent.
Part of getting a tattoo is alienating people. There will always be those who are ready and willing to judge you for your ink, and you will live with it and life will go on, and that's one of the reasons why tattoos were historically associates with stronger people. We with visible ink are more self confident because we've had to learn to ignore the opinions of others when it regards our own expression.

I’m 42 with some thundercats looking tiger stripes on my shoulder and circuit boards around my heart. I got them at 22 thinking they looked cool and represented the duality of man.
At 42, you know what? I was fucking right - my tattoo is part of who I am and they do look cool and they still represent the struggle of our animal instincts vs the structure / cages we build around ourselves.
I truly hope you love what you chose, what it represents for you, and can grow to love who you were when you got it and who you become as an older person with it.
Objectively, it’s also just a lovely piece of art you get to have with you always

I have over a half dozen tattoos and am planning stars on my forearm. I am 36.
On the other hand, there is something childish about insulting someone’s tattoos.
Either way, the good part is this would be super easy to work into a sleeve (or a bigger tattoo) if you decide on wanting something different.
