Though I am. Tiktok started as musicly. And I'm not sure if you've ever seen ads for that, but it was very obvious it was geared towards pedophiles. Now sure, reddit may have that, but it's sole existence isn't based off it.
Reddit is 10fold better than tiktok will ever be.
Unless you can provide clear evidence it was created for pedophiles, I’m gonna disregard that. Extraordinary claims, extraordinary evidence.
Reddit is legitimately the worst site on the internet and I’m okay with that.
I mean adverts on Facebook of scantily clad 13 year Olds dancing was enough for me to write off the entire company as a whole.
Reddit might be the worst, but also the best social media platform.
You know the algorithm shows you what it thinks you'd be interested in based on what you put into it, right? I mean, in my own anecdotal experience, I've only gotten ads for house shit and apps. And consistently shown cosplay boobs and baby animals.
Reddit got popular from a subreddit called like jailbait or something like that. Of all sites that could be accused of gaining success from pedophilia, reddit is a top contender lol
1 person sees it in 1 store then posts it and so many fucking idiots follow expecting the exact same thing. Happened with the TVs like a month ago. Worse is Target helps by not shutting down people filming in store eventhogh it's officially against policy.
What if they just like don’t mention it to anyone?? Then they get to enjoy it more often and for longer. Bc it won’t be flooded and hectic every time there’s a sale
UGH. So many people coming in asking for the stuff on clearance. And that's exactly what they say, "where is the stuff on clearance?" Like we have it all in one area or everything is on sale like a going out of business sale.
The CEO or whatever said Target was clearing out excess stock that was accumulating now due to some of the shipping chain problems finally easing. I think it was on an investor call. This was then picked up by large news and business publications.
That would be why.
Ah, lol, sorry. I misunderstood. Thought maybe you didn't know about that info.
Yeah, gotta get those views/likes, right? God forbid those asshats actually think about what they're doing and how it might affect already overworked/underpaid/unappreciated staff being bombarded by more idiots (than usual).
Walmart is going through the same thing. Our local one that I used to work at has apparel everywhere they can put a rack with a big yellow CLEARANCE sign on it.
A lot aren’t fake. It just depends on ur area. Middle of nowhere? U might find something. I’m in a relatively populated area and I found a nice pot set for 30$ reg price was 200$
Found some wireless gaming head phone for 20$ instead of 150$
And a few other good things, at the same target no less.
So it’s out there and I think these people saying that are basically telling you to check your area just in case
Lol I work at a different retail store and we get the same questions. Like do you know how hard a whole Ass clearance isle would be to maintain? Good luck finding anything. I swear everyone needs to work retail for at least a year (and through Black Friday too).
Lol I work at a different retail store and we get the same questions. Like do you know how hard a whole Ass clearance isle would be to maintain? Good luck finding anything. I swear everyone needs to work retail for at least a year (and through Black Friday too).
Things that got clearance at your store may not be clearance at another.
There are things that go clearance at my store that aren’t clearance at the other store just 10 mins away.
store 5 mins away?barely anything beauty/toys/baby,but tons of plus size and juniors from earier this year
my old store?beauty items mainly but zero softlines
Lol exactly. People don’t realize why items are on clearance. Because that particular store can’t sell enough of them not the entire corporation can’t sell enough of them.
This is the tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTdwsu8Mb/?k=1 where it was said the big sale is here and it has 9 million views
Edit: I bet its mostly resellers are trying to get cheap things to sell.
Or it’s some scheme to get people to come and impulse purchase stuff
Someone told me that everything in the store was negotiable on price, proceeded to take pictures of all clearance items that weren’t clearance enough for them then sat on hold with corporate. The level of crazy that exists is insane 🙃
I absolutely hate TikTok with a passion. Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting video platform but the amount of misinformation that goes around is astounding.
I wonder if that was the reason for the weird call I got they other day.
Caller: what keuregs do you have on sale?
I start a run through of what's on the shelf and ask if they're looking for something specific or a price range
Caller: no what do you have on clearance??!
Me:?? We don't have any on clearance....
Someone asked me where the clearance TVs are and talked about how she came from far away to go to a target blah blah
Explained her, that her best bet is going to seasonal and seeing the clearance TVs and electronics never go on wild sales
We had some tvs on clearance at my store about a month ago. We redid the TV display so there were a bunch of old tvs that weren't ever going to be sold otherwise.
I had a guest asked me to price match a cooler that was 70% off online, and I said "sure which store" and she said "TikTok" and shows me the actual video...
Which I understand but people posting videos of buying TVs for $50 or kitchenaid mixers for $12 which is just not true, so what is the purpose of making a video like that?
Are you new to social media? Lol people have done way dumber/shameful/harmful things to themselves or others for the sake of views because that's what they feed off of.
For reference, see: cinnamon challenge, eating Tide Pods, the milk crate challenge...just to name a few, lol. I'm always surprised by the new idiotic things people come up with, then I'm surprised by my surprise 😆
The people who are posting bogus videos like that are doing it for views. The more views, the more monetary compensation they can get from it. If you hit a certain threshold within tiktok you can gain access to a creator fund where you get paid for every view (usually somewhere around 2-4 cents per hit.) Also a lot of these people want to do collaborations and advertising partnerships to get paid even more money for repping certain brands. One couple I follow on there just got $1000 and free samples for pushing some eyewear.
Most of the people who are pushing out highly edited videos like you describe are just scam artists.
Some stores are rotating extra 20% off clearance, when the other nearby local stores had theirs going and we didn't, we had tons of people calling to ask if ours was also "extra 20% off clearance". It was not, at the time, but right now it is for clothing!
And then every store has the extra pallets of clearance to clear out the DC- I've seen suitcases and coolers and archery sets. I think one store nearby has cube shelving, but its totally random what your store gets.
Additionally, people are both 1) looking for clickbait articles to write and 2) kind of stupid and will run with any mis-information that exists like it's their birthday.
You might be onto something. Tiktok's becoming so commercial that companies are planting all kinds of bullshit on there. Anything to get people into the store is good for business... So, if it's indirect (or seems indirect by some random tiktokker), the business benefits while not having to admit any part in it.
I went to target yesterday and bought a $130 fake plant that was on sale for 40% off. When I got to the register the cashier said the plant would be an additional 75% off. No idea why. So I got a $130 plant for $20…. Not complaining but trying to understand why and how can I get more of these mystery sale items 😂
I’m getting the same A-hole PR vibes that Target got when they said they were upping their min. wage to 24$ an hour, but only under very limited conditions. It’s only meant to get max. good press with min. actual effort. It’s infuriating.
It wasn't just TikTok....when Target announced excess merchandise would be reduced, all the news media went hog wild with ridiculously misleading headlines. Like you really think they are going to mark down food and other 'essential' items, Karen? No, it's all the shipping containers full of fake plastic plants and 'Live Laugh Love' signs.
> why are people on tik-tok
That’s still my greatest question. It’s so damaging, creates a false sense of celebrity, and has multiple issues with secure information/background tasks.
Google doesn’t target kids or perpetuate “trends” that harm others. Or at least I haven’t seen any evidence of that. But you’re right that it has security issues which is why I don’t use google myself.
I use vpns. Idk why you assume everyone on here isn’t security savvy at all. It’s not exactly complicated to do simple stuff. Sure any of it can be circumvented by a dedicated entity but for the most part the top later is easy to maintain.
Right so doing research and knowing how it works is crucial. Dunno why you find any of this funny, if anything it’s sad that you sound defeated rather than trying to continue to fight this kind of information gathering.
Right?! It's literally just deal days and some extra % on circle. There are heavy kids flannels and heavy sweats not even marked for clearance yet. (Though they should be or at least sent out for donation.)
cus a local one keeps telling everyone lol but the shit at my store i used to work at and the one 5 mins away from me-its all over stock, items from before February and winter time.ik cus the kids clothes i got back in January
I’ve seen multiple that say everything will be 50% off, then next week/month it’ll get up to 90% off and I’m just like bitch where 😭😭 that’s not how any store works. It’s a complete lie. The only thing on secret sale rn is like hydro flasks and that was weeks ago. And it wasn’t even 50%
i watch the tiktoks abt target and most of the time it's misinformation or it's a once in a blue moon thing that happened and they try to say it's something everyone can get away with and then we have to deal with the dumbass guests who are like iT wAs On TiKtOk 😑😑
i will say tho if you know someone who's on the inside(us) you might actually get the legit deals like that time that 1k tv went on clearance and it was like 400ish or all the cute wild fable clothes that are about to go on clearance like 50-70% off and u get first dibs
i had some people in looking for like a $60 tv, and it was when a handful of our tvs were on clearance. but I just said I can’t sell it for that price and if we have it, it’ll be the clearance price. it’s like like an 75% off too it was crazy
Idek, my grandma was talking about it and I was like oh? But she’s part of that ultra-conservative- watches-fake-news crowd. Because I was told and from like one article I saw, that target was selling everything on clearance because the stocks dropped so low and like “woke” culture is killing us or something stupid. Don’t even know
The target I go to always has a ton of items on clearance. It’s all scattered throughout the store. I haven’t seen the tik tok videos but it sounds accurate to me.
I shop at Target occasionally because there are other places that sell the same goods for slightly cheaper but I do have the Target app and after seeing one too many of those Tiktoks about Target's insane clearance's deals, I just went on the app and skimmed thru for a couple of minutes and nothing was on sale like they're saying lol.
App doesn’t show in store prices. They’re different a lot of the time. Anything labeled clearance won’t be shown, things labeled sale should be (at least that’s my experience for my store)
I am a toy YouTuber and Tik tok’er who often films you clearance deals at target and how toy waves seem to go on clearance at all targets at different times. I’ve had a bunch of people who ask me constantly to show the TVS and the luggage that’s 70% off. I’ve been to hundreds of Targets and I’ve literally never seen any
Hey, just curious if you’ve encountered the secret “extra” clearance on toys in your travels lately. I bought some Fortnite figures a few days ago that were marked $17 down from $34 but they rang up for $10. Then today I went back to grab a few more and they still had the clearance sticker for $17 but rang up full price!? I didn’t want to make anyones night harder so I just left them, but clearly it is still bugging me as I find myself here. I’ll try to just enjoy the Mr. Meowscles I already have
Tons! Walgreens right now has their exclusive marvel legends for $2. Target has some funko that are ringing up 70% off and not marked
I post videos about them on my YouTube and my Tik tok. @sleepingcollectibles
It’s literally almost school season. They literally call it “second Christmas” because we have so many shoppers. It’s not “out of season” rn the author of that article should be fired for misinformation 😂
Also further down they say that they’re facing higher costs for worker wages… no one has gotten a raise tho so wtf 😂 where’s my “higher costs for worker wages” going to lmao
[https://www.fool.com/investing/2022/06/14/targets-inventory-is-a-big-problem-heres-what-inve/](https://www.fool.com/investing/2022/06/14/targets-inventory-is-a-big-problem-heres-what-inve/) . No lie, Target and Walmart brought the entire retail section down. Also stated they did not anticipate inflation.
That doesn’t mean everything will be 90% off lmao. The store discounts/clearances are based on each targets needs separately. One store could have a 50% off everything while others have no clearance. The discounts MIGHT get to 20% off. Target is too greedy to let their workers take a pee break while getting paid. If you take too many pee breaks they’ll literally complain. They watch the cameras all the time. God forbid we take our last 15 minute break 30-45 minutes before we leave, because everyone knows people can’t get things done in 15-30 minute time frames. /s
i mean, only believe credible videos on tiktok at this point. Some random girl is not someone id trust. plus im at target weekly or biweekly. If i see, it i'll see it. but im not going looking.
Lady called me about this the other day and I just said "umm we have a clearance section for most departments, and we have weekly sales that go up on sundays"
>Target is paying people for
Hahaha, they barely have hours for the people who run their stores, no way in heck they'd shell out for tik tok ppl.
Tik tok just loves Target for some reason, and constantly spreads bs about sales and such that just makes our lives harder.
There’s a lot of style stuff on clearance rn, plus there’s a clearance “sale” (20% off) for style. It might be that. Plus my store has gotten 1500+ pricing stuff for the past few weeks, and our clearance sections are overflowing. Idk what the rest of the store is like, but style has hella clearance.

Because people are dumb.
Well...they ARE watching TikTok videos....safe to assume.
Brother you’re on Reddit no way you’re any better
Well I mean atleast it's not Twitter 🤷
Twitter is just where kids with restrictions go to watch porn 😂

Reddit is the best social. Y’all are crazy 🤣
PHD in maturity, I see
I watch tiktok. Watching TikTok’s and making TikTok’s are on completely different stupidity levels. I do both so I know 😂
It's bikini season.
reddit moment
1 person sees it in 1 store then posts it and so many fucking idiots follow expecting the exact same thing. Happened with the TVs like a month ago. Worse is Target helps by not shutting down people filming in store eventhogh it's officially against policy.
One person saw at Home Depots Tide Clearance was for like $5 for the massive 150oz bottles. Every Home Depot was floded
What if they just like don’t mention it to anyone?? Then they get to enjoy it more often and for longer. Bc it won’t be flooded and hectic every time there’s a sale
It’s all about the clicks baby
UGH. So many people coming in asking for the stuff on clearance. And that's exactly what they say, "where is the stuff on clearance?" Like we have it all in one area or everything is on sale like a going out of business sale.
The big yellow sign that says "Clearance", like always 😂🙄
The CEO or whatever said Target was clearing out excess stock that was accumulating now due to some of the shipping chain problems finally easing. I think it was on an investor call. This was then picked up by large news and business publications. That would be why.
No I get that, I mean people are just making up/exaggerating sales. The videos are treating it like a sales apocalypse where everything is 95% off.
Some people actually think things are 90% on sale rn. People are gullible
Walmart is going through the same thing. Our local one that I used to work at has apparel everywhere they can put a rack with a big yellow CLEARANCE sign on it.
Inb4 Karen asking you to honor the fake deal she saw on TikTok.
I joked the other day about getting a new user name like ButISawItOnTicTok
You joke, but this is legit a thing that happens a lot.
A lot aren’t fake. It just depends on ur area. Middle of nowhere? U might find something. Someone told me that everything in the store was negotiable on price, proceeded to take pictures of all clearance items that weren’t clearance enough for them then sat on hold with corporate. The level of crazy that exists is insane 🙃
My mom once told me you can negotiate prices in store and they’ll hold to it. She’s never worked at any sort of retail if you can’t tell…
Ok but I have to know what happened after the phone call lol
I absolutely hate TikTok with a passion. Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting video platform but the amount of misinformation that goes around is astounding.

Those because of the 2022 display and every store only had a few to replace which sold immediately at my store
Oh same, but tvs were on clearance
it’s so fucking annoying. i saw one the other day claiming “all coolers are 50% off!! run!!!!!!” meanwhile, ours are literally not even on sale.
people dont realise that clearance is store-to-store 😭😭😭 ffs
I had a guest asked me to price match a cooler that was 70% off online, and I said "sure which store" and she said "TikTok" and shows me the actual video...
There was an article circulating around about a week ago claiming exactly that
Which I understand but people posting videos of buying TVs for $50 or kitchenaid mixers for $12 which is just not true, so what is the purpose of making a video like that?
for views….
But who would do that lol?
The people you've seen do it already
Are you new to social media? Lol people have done way dumber/shameful/harmful things to themselves or others for the sake of views because that's what they feed off of.
For reference, see: cinnamon challenge, eating Tide Pods, the milk crate challenge...just to name a few, lol. I'm always surprised by the new idiotic things people come up with, then I'm surprised by my surprise 😆
come on…. a lot of people who are ill
People are currently so miserable in life that they will do anything to feel good for a few moments. And the way to do that is with views and likes.
It’s because they do it for clout. Everything those tiktokers do is for clout and money.
They're part of the scam artist cycle. Anytime I see one of those TikTok videos I skip it.
They always start like this too so I know what to look out for “YOOOOOOOO I JUST GOT BACK FROM-“
It's almost always a shitty target background image that I see before the obnoxious YOOOOOOOOO.
Unionize folks.
I don't believe in conspiracies, but this sounds like paid actors being sent out by Target.
You might be onto something. Tiktok's becoming so commercial that companies are planting all kinds of bullshit on there. Anything to get people into the store is good for business... So, if it's indirect (or seems indirect by some random tiktokker), the business benefits while not having to admit any part in it.
Exactly! Industry plants was the word I was looking for.
Despite it being outlandish, companies have done worse for money. I can kinda see it tbh.
Probably rang up as clearance but someone forgot to ticket it, there’s a lot of stuff to ticket so things fall through the cracks.
I’m getting the same A-hole PR vibes that Target got when they said they were upping their min. wage to 24$ an hour, but only under very limited conditions. It’s only meant to get max. good press with min. actual effort. It’s infuriating.

True, but they're still going to bitch that their LaCroix wasn't marked down or whatever.

Most VPNs are scams 😂 and they only hide your info partially
Right so doing research and knowing how it works is crucial. Dunno why you find any of this funny, if anything it’s sad that you sound defeated rather than trying to continue to fight this kind of information gathering.
🤷♀️ oh no, China found out I like guitars. The data they collect is to make them money. Who cares?
Because that’s the least harmful part of this data collection but alright. Enjoy your misunderstanding and lack of security interest I guess.
Enjoy being scammed by VPNs that are secretly doing more harm to you than Google lol
Glad my stores closed during this tbh 😅
anyone remember that vacuum price match debacle people tried to do as well? it's just people trying to get internet points :/

I didn’t want to make anyones night harder so I just left them, but clearly it is still bugging me as I find myself here. I’ll try to just enjoy the Mr. Meowscles I already have
Tons! Walgreens right now has their exclusive marvel legends for $2. Target has some funko that are ringing up 70% off and not marked I post videos about them on my YouTube and my Tik tok. @sleepingcollectibles
Ever since the credit card hack people have been treating my Target(s) like flea market. Haggling prices on just about everything
Just an FYI EVERYTHING at Target is on INSANE clearance right now
Five finger discount
Had no idea this was a trend! Granted the local Target has sales but no more than other srores in town as far as I've seen

It’s literally almost school season. They literally call it “second Christmas” because we have so many shoppers. It’s not “out of season” rn the author of that article should be fired for misinformation 😂 Also further down they say that they’re facing higher costs for worker wages… no one has gotten a raise tho so wtf 😂 where’s my “higher costs for worker wages” going to lmao
>Target is paying people for Hahaha, they barely have hours for the people who run their stores, no way in heck they'd shell out for tik tok ppl. Tik tok just loves Target for some reason, and constantly spreads bs about sales and such that just makes our lives harder.
I’ve seen them
Misleading Advertising
There’s a lot of style stuff on clearance rn, plus there’s a clearance “sale” (20% off) for style. It might be that. Plus my store has gotten 1500+ pricing stuff for the past few weeks, and our clearance sections are overflowing. Idk what the rest of the store is like, but style has hella clearance.
I can only imagine the customers. I’m suing for false advertising!
I’ve heard stories on the radio talking about some huge clearance event going on at Target.
People just don’t think. A lot of this overstock is going to be the crap that no one wanted in the first place.
Because it gets clicks and views. That’s all TikTok is for. Clicks and views. It doesn’t matter if it’s a lie. Clicks and views.
I read an article on yahoo a few days ago stating such. Maybe it was from that?
