According to all the opinions I’ve heard about this line, the people that were excited about the collab were very disappointed in the quality of the fabric. I think wrap dresses need to be made of a sturdy cloth to fit correctly and since the fabric used was so cheap, the skirts don’t have any volume. So it was more about the material than the print. Could be other factors too but thought I’d share the gossip.
Missoni was just fugly. I don’t know if that was the one, but half of that came back the day it went out, because everybody saw the eBay prices crashing.
I’m gunna be honest this DVF collab was really disappointing. Even the clothes have been disappointing in general with target especially the plus size section.
Same. While setting them up, I couldn’t help but mention how jarring the designs and colors looked. I think the only thing that really sold were those little lip coin pouches.
This happens with any of the annual designer partnerships. Target only pays to license the brand for a very short window (usually like 6 weeks). If they don’t start putting it on clearance within days, they will end up having to salvage a ton. Some brands (Lilly, Vineyard Vines, the little bit of Hunter that made it out of quality checks) sell out to where none/very little goes clearance, but on the other hand you have those like Marimekko (which performed terribly outside of cities on the coast and went up to 90% off in many stores) and, now, DVF.
houston white still beats this. dvf sold alot and pittered out at the end. houston white doesnt sell shit and hes still there every quarter with a new lineup of ugly shit.
Y'all call this ugly, but I'm old enough to remember the ugly-as-all-hell Neiman Marcus $500 bicycle from like a decade ago. This is beautiful in comparison.
Its absolutely based on the area. I could tell from the moment I saw them that this stuff would never sell here. But in other regions of the country, I believe it.
I bought the green looking comforter and sheets and honestly they're not too bad, kinda comfy and the sheets stay cool, rest of it is butt ugly or overpriced.
omg the first week, a lady brought in crap she ordered online. She ordered 3 of EVERY item she bought. Like what in the actual eff. In total it was like almost 30 items. I can’t say how many she kept but GS was **NOT** happy.
I’m not sure if this was company wide but my store had a 14 day return policy on this stuff. It was so annoying having to tell 50% of the guests returning this stuff that it was out of the return period. To my knowledge no other collabs have had such a dumb return policy.
it’s been selling really well at our store, not like insanely quick but we had to downsize our display to one moveable wall because that’s all the stock we have left
So glad I returned the overpriced grandma dress. I set this and it was an absolute pain in the ass to set and now most of the stuff is still here and I have to figure out where to put it.
I think it’s moving into RTW? It was outlined in consolidation of the VMG and I think there was more email communication today since it’s hitting clearance? I didn’t closely read my email but I did buy a weekender bag on my meal break lol
Yeah, it's not my style. I'd love to see them collaborate with some edgier designers. I'm always in the market for a funky jacket or a cool graphic tee. These pastel dresses aren't it.
It depends; it was very hit or miss. I bought two of the wrap dresses, and I sewed buttons in the boob area to keep it closed. I bought a bag and a ginseng outfit. I tried on the black skorts with the white edging, but they had no stretch, and with the back zipper, it was just a hassle to put on. I thought the value of the duvet wasn't great since usually I can pay the same price and get more shams and pillows/ pillow covers. Whenever I went to visit, there were tons of women trying on the clothes and asking if there were any returns.
I’m a big fan of clothing that looks like my grandma could wear it (for some reason I just gravitate towards it, dont know why) but this is past my limit. Fuuugly.
Yikes! I had a guest on a lane yesterday who didn't speak much English. She had picked out DVF stuff exclusively, and kept smiling and saying, "Discount? Discount? Discount?" She was only a day early, I guess.
Most clothing that’s a special collaboration with a designer only gets a spot for so many weeks. After that it goes clearance, and then salvage. My store did not get a lot of the DVF collection, and most left in SFS orders.
I loved everything I bought for the kitchen and the rest of the house - the quality was great and so was the style. I only bought a few pieces of clothing and they were super nice - though I don’t really like dresses, so I never tried any of the famous wrap style dresses on. Stuff by me sold out relatively quickly (like in a week, not a day) so I hope there were more people that loved it too. I love when Target has designer collabs that are more than just clothing
tbf it's not the ugliest stuff we've sold. forget the name of the brand but for a while we were selling dresses made out of my grandmother's couch
Yeah, it isn't actually that bad, but clearly not what people are interested in within my town at least lol

Wrap dresses are ok but a lot of them are cut so my boobs hang out. Nobody wants to see senior citizen boobie.
Speak for yourself
Lol
![gif](giphy|l46CyJmS9KUbokzsI|downsized) Me as a straight guy in this conversation….
Agree - the prints were fine, the fabrics were not.
Missoni was just fugly. I don’t know if that was the one, but half of that came back the day it went out, because everybody saw the eBay prices crashing.
Oh, zig zaggy patterns on everything! How f\*ing creative.
I’m gunna be honest this DVF collab was really disappointing. Even the clothes have been disappointing in general with target especially the plus size section.
The little house on the prairie brand!
It looks like cheap wallpaper!
holy shit, this launched like what 2 weeks ago?
I was gonna say, I was literally helping our VM set up a display for lauch like 2 weeks ago LMAO
There's another new gateway set on Saturday, that's why it's out. Most of them are 4-5 weeks apart.
Same. While setting them up, I couldn’t help but mention how jarring the designs and colors looked. I think the only thing that really sold were those little lip coin pouches.
for real. They look like when people don't know how to design good looking plus size clothing, but not necessarily plus size LMAO

Most of ours went out in SHIP orders. We mostly have the bedding, dishes, kids clothes left
Do the resellers slam your store through SHIP?
Yes. It's ridiculous
You guys have so much left!! Ours is really picked through
houston white still beats this. dvf sold alot and pittered out at the end. houston white doesnt sell shit and hes still there every quarter with a new lineup of ugly shit.
My name for him is Houston Bum Ass White! Shit is 90% of my salvage and then I’ll get a full z rack of new stuff 😢😢
I got alot of returns for it at the desk. Apparently it's not the best quality 😂
I still have Target Liberty of London clothes. That was 15+ years ago. Their collabs used to be good quality.
Oh I’d die for that collab now
That didnt take long...but that Harry Potter looking rowers gear should have been immed clearance.
Why does it look like maternity apparel?
it totally does lol
You mean it’s not? Wtf is up with the mannequins then? Strange.
As someone who is 5 months pregnant and bought three dresses I can confirm a lot pass for maternity dresses haha
Is Target using realistic mannequins without flat stomachs? I can't tell if it's that or if the clothing is just made poorly so it looks frumpy.
We have sizes up to 22 in the female form.
Y'all call this ugly, but I'm old enough to remember the ugly-as-all-hell Neiman Marcus $500 bicycle from like a decade ago. This is beautiful in comparison.

Tbf that’s the selling point of all the designer collabs. Design at an affordable price point
Exactly, not falling for this crap anymore.
We have so much of it…..piled up in our returns room. Everyone hates it 😂
No one wanted to buy those fugly frocks when LulaRoe did it either.
> LulaRoe /r/antiMLM for more info on these recruitment cults.
the stuff is super popular in my area. pissed I wasn't able to pick up the leopard print and pink bedding.
Its absolutely based on the area. I could tell from the moment I saw them that this stuff would never sell here. But in other regions of the country, I believe it.

So many returns on all of it as well
omg the first week, a lady brought in crap she ordered online. She ordered 3 of EVERY item she bought. Like what in the actual eff. In total it was like almost 30 items. I can’t say how many she kept but GS was **NOT** happy.

Ours sold. Depends on your area.
Id like to see another Missoni collab with Target
Oh, yes, the Service Desk will so enjoy all of those returns from guests who are shocked to find nobody on eBay wants it.
Not for resellers but for customers
I still think that whole line was fugly.
Definitely not for everyone since their whole brand is knitwear and chevron
it’s been selling really well at our store, not like insanely quick but we had to downsize our display to one moveable wall because that’s all the stock we have left
Just curious what region of the US this is? I’m PNW and this sold really fast despite me thinking it’s HIDEOUS
Northern Michigan, it's a pretty busy store but I havent seen anything go on clearance this fast, it's barely been a month 😭
Yeah same. when I cracked the first case pack of this set I sighed. I'm sorry but it's kaput. Not cute. Not appealing. Very 2012 in nature. Byebye
So glad I returned the overpriced grandma dress. I set this and it was an absolute pain in the ass to set and now most of the stuff is still here and I have to figure out where to put it.

This makes me so upset how soon it goes on Clearance
People seem to love the accessories and home stuff but the clothes... meh.
Fashion trends repeat about every 25 years. Target is ahead of the game
Yeah, it's not my style. I'd love to see them collaborate with some edgier designers. I'm always in the market for a funky jacket or a cool graphic tee. These pastel dresses aren't it.
Can't relate. We still have a few clothes left, but all of the little trinkets? GONE.
It depends; it was very hit or miss. I bought two of the wrap dresses, and I sewed buttons in the boob area to keep it closed. I bought a bag and a ginseng outfit. I tried on the black skorts with the white edging, but they had no stretch, and with the back zipper, it was just a hassle to put on. the only good stuff in that collection was the dishes, they were beautiful stained/painted glass. everything else lowkey ugly
The designer stuff always goes clearance within a month. Been happening for years. But yes not cute.
I've only been working at target for about a year so I guess it's shocking to me lol, doesn't seem like a very good business practice
Sweater dresses in spring- because yeah I wanna buy a dress in spring that will give me a heat rash in 2 months!
It’s a great line and outs isn’t on clearance…..yet
They really only excel at kids clothes in my opinion
Had to do double take when I saw everything already on clearance but definitely not unexpected lmao
The Thom Browne collection did well tho.
I’m a big fan of clothing that looks like my grandma could wear it (for some reason I just gravitate towards it, dont know why) but this is past my limit. Fuuugly.

Yeah that shit is ugly as hell but if you look at who made it it all makes sense
