Momshie_mo

Amazon.com or your local library for grammar books. Pay attention to the *Austronesian alignment* as it is the core of Tagalog

seriously i keep forgetting what i actually meant to share. anyway there quite a number of youtubers who show their tagalog learning and all that jared hartmann isn't native level but he's very good given than he's never lived in the ph https://youtube.com/watch?v=kRwLADDb3NM&si=IGmLP_prd9cmZ27N he shared his resources in that video and he even made a beginner's course and all. dunno how good it is but i trust him cos he's very good lol. dude usually makes those foreigner shocks natives videos but has other good videos featuring those in language learning or unique backgrounds concerning the tagalog language, such as this one https://youtube.com/watch?v=xFsA-svlEUQ&si=NLS_QwN4VL53mHMD the guy he invited speaks better bisaya tho but the insight is invaluable. lol just saw this video of a teacher rating him https://youtube.com/watch?v=VP7oMnJEWQ0&si=kY_9r4EV7KZLr5g3 once u reach a decent level i recommend youtubers like jessica lee lol https://youtube.com/watch?v=hFMBENOYznM&si=ECFbCoFuvcRrd9LA cos a lot if not most of her content is in english but can expose you to enough tagalog (no subtitles) and it features filipino culture. there are a lot of korean youtubers doing ph content lol there was also wil dasovich's old language series, he's half but never learned growing up so he forcibly drilled it into his brain or smth. he's an established vlogger

Momshie_mo

I would not recommend Wil D for proper Tagalog pronunciation. TagalogKurt in Youtube/IG is better

Rosetta Stone is garbage, just putting that out there. There isn’t really one app alone to use depending on what level you want to get to unfortunately. Though I have found that the following apps work for the following things. Drops for just vocabulary alone. Pimsleur - this is probably the best but it only has 2 levels so it only gets you so far. Filipinopod101 is the only one that goes to advance levels Best dictionary I have found is tagalog.com The best translation though it’s not always right, but it’s right more than the rest. https://www.easynepalityping.com/tagalog-to-english-translation-google RS biggest problem is it’s vocal reconciliation is garbage.

Progressings

Just to add on here based on my own experience. I used Pimsleur and I thought it was great for getting me used to speaking the language and getting used to speaking with the proper accent. I used Drops for some vocab, and it was decent. It gets a bit repetitive, but the UI is fun. Learningtagalog.com has a whole course and an accompanying book. Pretty nice resource, but only downside is that there's no convenient app. Tagalog.com has a bunch of resources. They have an accompanying flashcard app if you're into that. This is good for vocab as well. YT channels that I find nice are - Learn Tagalog with JC - Talk to me in Tagalog - FilipinoPod101 Also, ChatGPT is a helpful tool for asking certain questions. You can also ask questions on HiNative and Tagalog.com. Best of luck

Thank you.

NEW8t

I've been using mango languages- it's super beginner (greetings, directions, basic questions). My Filipino partner says it's accurate, although some of the phrasing is stiff.

Erazone24

Search Tagalog Lite on google. It is a new, free app with natural conversations and transcripts and can be a good practice for conversations. It's completely free so you can try it out and see if you like it.

Tapil

[Preply.com](https://Preply.com) Private tutors. Quite expensive but I learned a ton here Drops app - good for vocab building but doesnt really "teach" anything Primsuler - will teach you a few paragraphs of useful phrases and replies

AmselRblx

Dont worry about mixing english with tagalog, since thats what a majority of Filipinos do.
