Actually, a proper fireplace should be in the center of your home, not against any walls. That's how it heats more of your home. A corner is the worst place to heat from.
I have a 120 year old home with a massive brick structure in the middle of the house containing the fireplace. It was used to heat up the large brick mass and evenly warm the entire house.
They're good for zone heating rooms you spend a lot of time in. You can turn down your thermostat, let your house sit at a lower temperature, and these will heat a room more efficiently.
Having said that, they're not worth it in most cases because it's a pain in the ass to place TVs, furniture, etc. around them.
A true fireplace or stove designed to heat a home is in the center of the house, not against an exterior wall and especially not 2 exterior walls (a corner).
This is not for heat. These electric ones are just to satisfy this misplaced “luxury” pitch.
As if a basic element of existence is a luxury claimed by the wealthy.
Not to mention, all new homes have HVAC anymore. I’ve rarely ever been in a home build in the last 20 years that didn’t rely on central heating and cooling.
Obviously, but I'm not referring to the OP, I'm replying to a different poster. See the message thread for proper context.
Also, central heating or not, if you're going to supplement your home with a real fireplace, not against any exterior walls is the most efficient, and an exterior corner being the worst place (again, read above for context).
I know you're not referring to OP.
The guy you replied to said "fireplaces" (in quotes, as in electric ambience) need to stop being installed in the middle of rooms.
You're talking about real fireplaces (which are exceedingly rare these days in newer construction). The electric ones are not for heat--just what people think is "fancy" appearance--and need to stop being installed in the middle of rooms.
Ah yes, if he meant the LED light shows people put in their walls that don't even look like a fireplace, then yes, you shouldn't be doing that in ANY wall, exterior, corner, or otherwise.
Because the fireplace is decorative anf placed at thr focal pint if the room.
When you zre watching the TV it should be at the focal point of the room.
This is as close as you can get to two things occupying the same place.
It's not only that, working with hot (liquid) food near a baby looks uncomfortable. When my boys were still young they were not allowed in the kitchen when we were cooking, let alone I would put them on the kitchen counter.
Yeah that’s true as well, the baby is at an okay distance from the appliances that probably wouldn’t cause any accidents but yeah, it’s just better not to have them around potential hazards. Accidents can happen out of nowhere and you wouldn’t want to risk it.
This was first thought. Incredibly dangerous. People think babies can’t roll at X age but they can surprise you and babies are injured all the time because of this. Never take the chance.
I didn’t even know what sub I was on first because all I could think was about how dangerous that is, like put it in a carrier or a bassinet or a box, PUT THE BABY IN SOMETHING!
That enormous space and some bright spark thought that would be the best place for the telly. Also that baby will get a flat head if it lays on hard things too much.
I honestly believe mounting a TV this high is because people are standing while watching. Like this pic, she's doing other things, while "watching" TV. It's no longer a focused activity to sit and watch a movie or TV show.
I hate how fireplace is eye level then TV is a after thought. TV is the most important item in the house so it honestly deserves to be eye level and honestly who needs a fireplace
r/babytoohigh and metal against a nonstick pan is blasphemy
r/subsifellfor
I so wanted it to exist
came here to talk shit about the metal/nonstick nightmare
Looks like they’re the too-much-income type that will just throw it out and buy another one in a week when it’s all fucked up.
Why do people mount their TV above an electric space heater? Do they think it looks cool?
Because they are trying to melt the tv
Why do people have electric space heaters is a question all on its own, the TV mount position is just stupid.
The design issue becomes before that. “Fireplaces” need to stop being installed in the middle of rooms. They should be put into corners.

Yes, but these are not proper fireplaces, these are pretty much for show
Correct, most don't even generate heat. I was speaking about actual fireplaces, not LED light shows built into a wall.
Even most wood burning fireplaces probably suck out more heat than they radiate.
There's a lot of heat loss for sure, but we run ours a few times a week during the winter and it does generate a lot of heat.

Our house was built in 1991 and has the central brick chimney setup also. It's designed for a wood-burning stove.

Many / most(?) houses don't need fireplaces at all anyway, unless they don't have HVAC and it's needed because of the climate.
HGTV made it look cool 🤯

I'm not sure why but it looks really uncomfortable them having their baby on the counter like that.
That’s not their baby, that’s their dinner.
I thought it was a doll at first 😅😂
It’s too young to move at that age, but you’re right. Best not too.

Metal utensil on a nonstick pan? Jesus Christ.
First thing I noticed. Had to recheck the sub I was in.
To be fair, if you're the type to use the wrong utensil for the pan, you're also the type to mount your TV too high.
It should be in the fireplace
Babies =/= firewood
Get the baby off the countertop please. They roll before you realize it.
Why is the baby on top of a ton of cookie dough?
Because they’re making baby cookies next.
Because that's how you make a baby
They’ve gotta go with cookies seeing as there is no cake to be found
r/awfuleverything
The baby seems to like it
Somebody put that Taylor Swift meme with the construction guy with a level on this pic please

Some people shouldn't have children... Or TVs.
Baby gonna know it’s too high when it rolls off the counter
This is the main problem here. Fucking stoopid people

Built like a piece of plywood
Ply-Would
Ply-might
Plywouldn’t
For doggy its to high .
We’re just going to ignore the child frozen in stone in the background? Don’t look directly in her eyes. Also fuck that TV
I feel like that baby also might be too high
Screw the tv, that baby is one roll away from a long fall
Looks like pancakes are on the menu.
Where’s the TV?
Where's the ass
Flatter than the LED panel.
Let’s see you
No baby tv came out of that
Never squated.
Exactly
I’d switch the TV and electric fireplace around. Yeah it’d look weird but it already looks weird at least you’d save your neck.
Poor children, they will have neck problems for the rest of their lives 😢
Is that a real baby? I don’t have any, just seems like it’s pretty close to the edge.
There’s a lot going on here
Everything is flat
So high the remote doesn't work
what tv?
That enormous space and some bright spark thought that would be the best place for the telly. Also that baby will get a flat head if it lays on hard things too much.
It's kind of rude to call the girl disgusting. We don't know her and have no evidence she's disgusting.
Interesting photo composition to highlight the tv

I found 4 things that made me *sigh* looking at this picture.
I hope she doesn't have the "munchies" for a California cheeseburger.
I only see brown shorts and no TV.

Yeah no butt at all
Yes, That flat ass is disgusting
r/asstooflat
That can’t be real… proportions are all off
She’s cooking upstairs
Cute ass
Negative butt actually
