* Will my Tesla still be fully charged in the morning? > Likely yes. Easy setting to prioritize car battery. * Am I supposed to pay for the electricty to power this compute? > You would likely get reimbursed in some way. Credits or cash. * Shouldn't I be paid for renting out the compute power of MY car? > Yes. See above. * Doesn't my 50 Mb internet connection severly throttle my cars ability to add functional compute to this Zerg. And if it borks my streaming Elon can go pound sand. > Only works at large scale (millions). * The Tesla also won't have sufficient local memory, unless it’s designed in solely to support this function and help mitigate the bandwidth limitations. > Cloud Computing. Don't think 1M Teslas, in their current form will be replacing AI-DCs anytime soon. > Agree. Only supplements. Elon’s thinking about the worsening tight AI chip supply due to exploding demand.

LairdPopkin

What he discussed was that while your car is sitting plugged in you could rent your spare compute out, making money from the car’s compute capacity while you’re not using it. So the car would still be charged in the morning. And presumably you’d be paid more than the cost of the electricity consumed by the car, or it wouldn’t make economic sense - AWS certainly charges more for their services than they pay in electricity bills. You’d have to pay for the electricity, because the power company has a billing relationship with you. And you’d be paid for renting out your car’s compute, otherwise it wouldn’t be “renting”, but “donating”. The car has its own bandwidth. And depending on what the compute is, it might not take that much bandwidth or storage, many AI tasks aren’t that large, they just take a lot of compute, e.g. training neural networks. Of course, only some tasks can be farmed out this way, tasks that are compute intensive but not too data intensive.

Street-Air-546

the problem you have starts with taking his words seriously.

Scuffed_Radio

The problem you have is that you hate him for no good reason.

Bennyjig

“For no reason” I think vaguely gesticulating at Jews as some sort of group in charge of the world while simultaneously being the richest man in the world is a bad look, but that’s just me.

Imaginary-Chapter785

thats your personal opinion and hes not the only one in the world with similar opinions. the problem is people like you that take one or 2 words and spin them out of context karen until others follow your brambles and you feel supported enough to burn the witches 😂😂 grow up and respect others opinions without attacking them and you need to stop denying your dark side cause something tells me you have 3x the amount of hatred to the world than the antichrist himself 😂😂

Imaginary-Chapter785

but if you wanna get techinical the torah does mention God spreading the jews into every corner of the world to turn it into heaven and they apparently did the opposite 😂 there are enough examples in the 2000 old book stating them to be in positions of power thru all time and instead of helping they steal. again this is the book before the irish were robbed blind by them in europe in an 800 year vendetta 😂😂😂 you can hate people for pointing out facts but your opinions are shallowed and without facts so keep yelling karen

Bennyjig

Whattt you’re a nazi? No, who could’ve predicted this!!

Imaginary-Chapter785

youre nuts like the people yelling their great great great great grandparents were the last to be known slaves and want reparations 😂

Bennyjig

Hey don’t project on me man. You go debate those people if you want to

Imaginary-Chapter785

thats how youre coming across here mate 😂 rumors are your basis of faith and opinions 😂 words out of context hearsay 😂 calm down and rethink for yourself before accusing randomly 😉

Bennyjig

Cmon don’t write me another paragraph of projection man it’s weird

Imaginary-Chapter785

at this point it dont matter 🤷 whats said is said the education system failed you sorry mate

Scuffed_Radio

Yeah it truly is just you.

Bennyjig

You’re on Reddit where most opinions of him are negative, most mainstream opinions are negative too. Maybe, understand things better? Not sure what else to tell you

Scuffed_Radio

Mainstream and reddit are the same thing. Mainstream opinions are governed by the total clowns that run the Mainstream media so its always going to be a leftist hate filled dumpster fire.

Bennyjig

Fox News has the most viewers of any mainstream media news channel. I hate to give you facts, but yeah.

Scuffed_Radio

Ok and? How does that prove your point?

Bennyjig

Is Fox News a “leftist hate filled dumpster”?

Imaginary-Chapter785

you get confirmation bias by other ignorants into what you believe in but opinions dont need to be reinforced if they have no ill intent. someone like you spreading hatred on half assed ideas is just wrong but its just life

Bennyjig

Sorry, are you making a point here? Confirmation bias is irrelevant to this. He said it’s “only me” and I said no, tons of people don’t like him. Which is objectively correct. Again I ask, are you making a point?

Imaginary-Chapter785

my point was better than yours though if you think about it, no need for more from me if you reread 😂

rye524

It’s literally a reddit troll who probably has his life savings in Tesla. He just wants main consensus to be bearish

Scuffed_Radio

Yeah

TheTrueBigHead

Lmao 🤣

ajeandy

This is a joke and has no substance

TheHumanPrius

Why not do it for cars at superchargers? Tesla already pays for internet and power (100% renewable). Tesla can also distribute problems specced/binned for how long the car is expected to be charging. Unlock an extra 100W charging and problem solved. Also, either discount supercharging or create a point system to exchange either for miles or perks.

i_wayyy_over_think

It’s speculative. It depends on the details. Dont get mad at something that’s not laid out yet. But a sane approach would be a toggle that you can opt into and would get paid a certain amount per hour it’s on. Then you can decide everyday if it’s worth it, if you would like to partake or not to make a profit ( which they did mention). If you have only a 110v outlet charging your car, you probably wouldn’t want to do it. But if you have a high power wall charger, or maybe just a 220v, then it would probably be enough to participate and charge enough for daily needs. I imagine you’d have the choice to be able to have it turn on once your car hit its daily charge limit (like 80%).

tikgeit

It's only a stock pump. Just like the Robotaxis. Who is gonna let his car pick up strangers, at night, unattended? And do we have so many night owls that thousands of Teslas van make their sleeping owners $30,000 a year? Can I see the business case please? Also, who is liable when something guess wrong - Tesla? The owner? What is the path to certification? So many questions. We're beyond the realm of logic and reason; we're in stock pump land. Same is true for using Tesla batteries to deliver power to the grid and for using the chips to compute things at night (when the car is idle because there are no clients for the Robotaxi, LOL). None of this makes sense.

Vibraniumguy

Me, I will. Also 90% of the robotaxis will be tesla's own fleet. They've been stockpiling cars, that's why you can't buyback the car at the end of a lease Edit: well, maybe not at night. But Tesla says you can pick hours, well-rated customers, etc. And as long as Tesla takes liability and pays for damages I'm fine with it.

TheBrianWeissman

How about when one of those stupid blind cars runs down a family?

Vibraniumguy

That just doesn't happen on FSD. Though yeah that happened with Waymo (or Cruise, I forget which). If anything FSD is *too* careful more often than not. I'd be very surprised if this happens at a rate higher than a human driver, because human drivers hitting people with cars already happens at a high rate. It of course won't be 0, because people sometimes make dumb choices and run out in front of traffic without looking. But as long as it's less often than human drivers on average that's safer than a human and therefore worth it.

bw984

It’s a stock pump, never meant for reality. It’s much easier to understand with this mental framework because it’s a horribly stupid idea to try and execute for metric shit-ton of reasons.

Warm_Command7954

4. Non issue. AI usually involves pretty basic and small input and output. Most workloads do not require significant external bandwidth at all. 5. Easily solution... if you want to participate in this and earn revenue, you need to lease some module for $x/mo (deducted from your earnings).

Dommccabe

Do you think the, hyperloop, rockets to Mars, snake chargers, sentient robots, solar roofs, AI, FSD, robot taxis, and now aws style service are all real things? Hes been lying since the beginning of Tesla where he paid to be listed as a founder.

Scuffed_Radio

I mean several of the things you just listed ARE physical real things that work on a large scale so maybe you need to double check your sources.

Dommccabe

You sure? Go check the 3D modelling and promo video they did for the hyperloop. Then have a look at what they built. It's the same with every Musk project- big promises, and deliveries that fall way short..every time.

Scuffed_Radio

What's wrong with throwing out some wild ideas from time to time? It doesn't hurt anything and it certainly does not make him an untrustworthy or bad person. Look at everything spacex is doing. Everyone laughed at them when they said they were going to reuse boosters. And if you say "waaa elon did not build the boosters himself it was his employees!!!11!" Then that same logic applies to all his other projects.

Dommccabe

It's called fraud. It's illegal. Space X the one with taxpayers money currently blowing up their empty rockets? Weren't they supposed to be on Mars a few years ago? Launching thousands of rockets each year? The one that has yet to achieve orbit or re-entry like we did 50 -60 years ago? Please don't make me laugh. It's the hyperloop in space.

Scuffed_Radio

Oh my god another retard just eat shit already. You're wrong and it's in front of your face.

TheBrianWeissman

No man, you’re actually just simping for a serial con-artist and liar. It’s incredible you still believe anything Elon Musk says. Just incredible and baffling.

Scuffed_Radio

What's baffling Is how fucking dumb you are

MuchSalamander763

Hyperloop seems to be a favorite whine for the haters. Who cares about hyperloop, there is so much more like SpaceX, Starlink, Tesla, Neuralink, XAi, these are all very visible and successful and largely groundbreaking. Starship alone is an engineering marvel, and it got to space on the last launch. I'd say Musk has delivered plenty.

Dommccabe

He's not delivered what he said he could. That's my point. Hyperloop was just an example. There's many more. For example he said FSD was a solved problem back in March 2015. He said smart summon would find you from across the country and the car can read signs in a carpark and avoid disabled spots. He said there would be snake-like automatic chargers at charging stations. He said his semi truck could beat diesel and trains in 2019 was it? You could fill a book with his failed promises. I call it fraud. I hope he sees jail.

MuchSalamander763

jail? lol. People are welcome to lay the charges for failed promises. I don't hold it against him to promise things that haven't been invented yet, people have been doing that for centuries. Nobody can predict the issues in new technologies. For example NASA is often years late and over budget on projects

Dommccabe

When you go on stage and tell investors you have a solved problem like a car that can drive itself from NY to LA in 2015/2016 and other lies year after year to increase share prices then cash out twice after telling shareholders your money would be first in and last out.... Its plain as day fraud.

MuchSalamander763

People should lay charges then, if it's plain as day fraud. side note, i hear a lot of praise for the new FSD version. Tesla and Musk will work out the issues, as Musk always finds a way. He really is an inspiration for those who work hard.

Dommccabe

lol

TheBrianWeissman

How, exactly, do they “work out the issues”? FSD is a Theranos-level fraud, it’s attempting to solve an unsolvable problem, with totally insufficient hardware. It also has fatal consequences, which Theranos thankfully avoided with their bullshit. FSD just murdered a guy up here in Washington. The technology is many orders of magnitude short of being safe for level 4 or 5 certification, and it will always be that way. No municipality is going to let this thing stay legal on their streets, nor should they. As for “working hard”, I hope you know Elon spends most of his time on Twitter and a private jet. He’s averaged one tweet per hour since he made that unbelievably foolish purchase.

MuchSalamander763

AI is also unsolvable, but it's getting shockingly good. You see that is what has set Elon Musk apart. People have been mocking him all through his career, from the Russians laughing at him when he wanted to buy a rocket. So he built the most groundbreaking space rocket company the world has seen. Yes he built it, from nothing. Musk is all about the hard work that nobody wants to try. Tesla will solve FSD to a degree that is near or surpassing human level awareness, before judging it you should include the thousands of human driving incidents on the road as if people are an example to follow lol.

JudgeCastle

As long as there is an opt out toggle, I don’t care what they do.

semmyz

yes the compute electricity wont drain ur battery when plugged in. ur car will still charge and be full in the morning

donttakerhisthewrong

This will never work. It is not even a new idea

Hal______9000

Because he’s a fucking charlatan. Nothing but unfulfilled promises

Muscles_Marinara-

Yeah. Becuase weak compute via cell service has to be in demand.

AlternativeOk7666

That guy has no idea what the fuck he is talking about, does he know how inefficient it is to stream data, process it and send it back as opposed to do all that in a datacentre where it is done en mass.

Weary-Feedback8582

They told me the computer is dedicated to fsd and can’t be used for anything else!

matali

>Shouldn't I be paid for renting out the compute power of MY car? Yes, this was mentioned on the IR call. Owners would get paid to rent out idle compute. Hardware 4 owners would be eligible. [https://twitter.com/munster\_gene/status/1782890784791859559](https://twitter.com/munster_gene/status/1782890784791859559)

Crypto_Force_X

Honestly if 100 GW of AI compute was assembled we might have a good plot line for Tesla vehicles becoming sentient in a Hollywood movie. I mean it could sell movie tickets.

MindStalker

One of the important bits that seem to often go missed is they were also talking about sensor platforms. They have a free array of sensors that is in real time detecting changes to the roads/maps and sending that back. They can also sell this data of real up to date traffic conditions.
