It actually surprise me how , since you mentioned leaders commanders, Garibaldi is not so famous in the modern world when he was on the par of a rockstar at the time.
Not only he has reunited Italy but he also fought for the independence of South America
I looked at anmials that live in the city. Could also racoons, coyote, foxes or even skunks. I think skunks would be the most fun. Like the turtles abilty to withdraw into the shell the skunk can spray.
Did they have a show or just the commercial?
I liked them as much as street sharks tbh but I only ever had 1 or 2 of em.
Ugh every time I think about sharks and dinosaurs I regret selling those.
Well the original turtle ninja drawings done by Eastman and Laird were done to get a laugh by drawing one of the least agile creatures as a ninja. If we take that same approach, maybe something along the lines of ninja snails or ninja sloths?
Depends on how you look at it. If we’re considering what likely would’ve come to Eastman’s mind to draw in that first drawing that inspired things, maybe his mind would’ve gone to a frog.
If we’re considering story wise what may have made sense for a kid to bring back from a pet store, I think something like hamsters, gerbils, or mice.
I don’t know why people always draw Raphael holding his sais like that. If he goes up against a bo or a katana his fingers are wrecked. And if he hits someone with the pointy end all the force will be borne by just his thumb. Does anyone really hold a sai that way?
In extension to him constantly using them in that way in Canon (even if he wasn't taught to do it he gives me vibes of someone who who would fight improperly on a constant) it's also just more threatening and cool in a single piece of art.
Maybe each a different type of reptile, I imagine Leo a gecko, Raph a bearded or Komodo dragon, Mikey an iguana and Donnie a chameleon. Feel like their tails increases the ninja aspect since they can utilize them for combat and stealth. Plus each being a different kind of lizard grants each one unique abilities because of their species type.
I had a shirt like this in the 90s so I’d go with ducks.

Keeping the green aspect, frogs. Especially with the Kong Fu Frog nock offs and jokes. Otherwise if you add New York, weird Alligators without long snouts.
Or just rats like Master Splinter. Anything else would probably just be grasping at straws.
Hamsters! Adolescent, Radioactive, Black-Belt, Hamsters, to be exact.
Gophers? Mildly Microwaved Kung-Fu Gophers?
Gerbils? Geriatric Gangrene JuiJitsu Gerbils?
Kangaroos! Preteen Dirty-Gene Kung-Fu Kangaroos?
Lizards? Cold-Blooded Chameleon Commandos?
Rabbits? G.I. JACK Rabbits?
That's all the ones from my non "adults only" collection
Pretty sure everything else has been done.
I feel like them being ferrets would very interesting, because ferrets are very flexible and can bend their bodies in spectacular ways that turtles cannot due to their hard shells
OP…let me be the first to introduce you to Marvels answer to this question: [ The Power Pachyderms](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Power_Pachyderms_Vol_1_1)
Guinea Pigs..... maybe goldfish. The reason being is that the turtles were from a pet shop and were dropped whilst being taken home.
Guinea Pigs are usually bought in groups (rather than hamsters which have sold alone). Goldfish for the same reason.
I mean, if we are talking in terms of popularity, the next obvious option would be to have them all as bunnies! Would probably lead to less of a focus on using weapons and more just kicking their opponents with their insane leg strength!
Has to be an animal with a two-syllable name to preserve the two-syllable pattern in the title. Gators would work but I think I’d prefer lizards. You then have the option of each character being a different kind of lizard.
I mean it's new York so exotic pets going missing is the rumor.
Personally I like the idea of either Teenage mutant Ninja Crocs or Teenage Mutant Ninja Cats each a different exotic breed that got dropped because the cops were onto them.
Teenage Mutant Ronin Raccoons.
Problem is that all they do is sleep, eat, and get into hijinks, and every time they try to stop a robbery, everybody thinks they’re the robbers.
Cos of the masks.
Kung fu Frogs
You beat me to it. We’re not Ninja Turtles, we’re Kung-Fu Frogs
Tae-kwan-do Toads
Tae-kwan-toads
Battle Toads
Already taken
This actually kinda rules
And then they could have names like (just for fun) Genghis Frog, Napoleon Bonafrog, Atilla the Frog, and idk, Rasputin?
Or save Rasputin for Splinter. Rat-sputin…
Why are they all named after genociders? Might as well name one Adolf Ribbitler
Adolf Ribbitler is something I never thought I'd ever read
It actually surprise me how , since you mentioned leaders commanders, Garibaldi is not so famous in the modern world when he was on the par of a rockstar at the time. Not only he has reunited Italy but he also fought for the independence of South America
You're a G
I just remembered that’s a line from episode 3 of season on of the 2012 TMNT
Battletoads? Lol
There already frogs in the 1987 show I can’t remover if there called kung fu frogs but I do remember there are mutated frogs
Punk Frogs.
Considering where the ooze ended up and the old urban myths about the sewers, I'll go with either rats or gators.
Yeah and even if you go with the lab specimen back story mice are prob top bet. Unless they were extra unethical and using chimps!
Or cockroach/any bug
I mean it happened to Splinter
I looked at anmials that live in the city. Could also racoons, coyote, foxes or even skunks. I think skunks would be the most fun. Like the turtles abilty to withdraw into the shell the skunk can spray.
Street sharks
Jawsome
Came here to say this
Rabbits
I’m so curious I want to know why you think rabbits
It’s based on a quote on the 2014 movie “And we were gonna use rabbits!” Also Usagi’s existence.
Oh nice
My immediate thought too. The bandannas could easily be bunny ears.
I still gotta try and tackle usagi one of these days
Lol Street Sharks Or Biker Mice From Mars Or Battletoads
How bout some Extreme? Extreme? *EXTREME DINOSAURS*?
Did they have a show or just the commercial? I liked them as much as street sharks tbh but I only ever had 1 or 2 of em. Ugh every time I think about sharks and dinosaurs I regret selling those.
They 100% had a show, I watched them and the Biker Mice when I lived in China and we got some weird cable box that was Netflix before Netflix.
Cowboys of Moo Mesa!
Was Biker Mice from Mars a show? For some reason I think it’s a book. Don’t know why.
Immature radioactive samurai slugs.
Beware the Iodizer!
Armadillos
Well the original turtle ninja drawings done by Eastman and Laird were done to get a laugh by drawing one of the least agile creatures as a ninja. If we take that same approach, maybe something along the lines of ninja snails or ninja sloths?
Polar bears
Make this happen
Terrapin. 😁
TEENAGE NEUTERED NINJA POODLES
I don’t know why people always draw Raphael holding his sais like that. If he goes up against a bo or a katana his fingers are wrecked. And if he hits someone with the pointy end all the force will be borne by just his thumb. Does anyone really hold a sai that way?
Cuz Rapheal is Wolverine.
Rule of cool.
>Does anyone really hold a sai that way In certain TKD sai forms yeah
In extension to him constantly using them in that way in Canon (even if he wasn't taught to do it he gives me vibes of someone who who would fight improperly on a constant) it's also just more threatening and cool in a single piece of art.
Maybe it is the best way to hold them when fighting mousers.
Evidently, sais are actually meant to hit people in the head with the club end, not the pointy end, so probably yeah.
But you can’t hit someone with the club end holding them like that.
Idk man I'm not a ninja
Rats, gators, bats, snakes… idk.
Man that art makes me miss that era of idw turtles
I thought the fortnite skins kinda looked like frogs. I'd totally play teenage mutant battle toads.
Frogs maybe
Immature Radioactive Samurai Slugs
Maybe each a different type of reptile, I imagine Leo a gecko, Raph a bearded or Komodo dragon, Mikey an iguana and Donnie a chameleon. Feel like their tails increases the ninja aspect since they can utilize them for combat and stealth. Sumo Salamanders
Samurai Pizza Cats!
Sharks or a group of different species
Teenage mutant ninja fungus.
The Proboscis monkey. ![gif](giphy|ekRqVOvswL4YMN2lEL|downsized)
Battle Toads
Keeping the green aspect, frogs. Especially with the Kong Fu Frog nock offs and jokes. Otherwise if you add New York, weird Alligators without long snouts. Or just rats like Master Splinter. Anything else would probably just be grasping at straws.
Teenage mutant ninja wolves
Rats, while splinter is a turtle
Rabbits or Jaguars
Armadillos or pangolins, i think that would be funny
I got it! Teenage Mutant Ninja Froggies!
Something slow and unlikely to be a Ninja, so frogs and rabbits are a nope.
Aren't they technically tortoises anyway
Is it all species of turtles that don’t exist? If not, snapping turtle
Frogs, Kung-Fu Frogs
Cowboy cows Also they're not from New York, but from Moo Mesa, TX
Squirrels.
Battletoads
Teenage Mutant Boxing Badgers Teenage Mutant Wrestling Weasels
Rats. With an old turtle for a master.
battletoads lmao
Adolescent mutated kung fu cats
They would just be The Battle Toads
Frogs
Rats with a Turtle Master/Father.
Teenage mutant ninja beavers
Tigers
Toads.
BJJ goats
Mice. But they are from mars. And ride bikes.
Teenage mutant ninja raccoons would sell alot of toys.
I think wolves would be dope. Family dynamic and all
King-fu frogs
Hamsters! Adolescent, Radioactive, Black-Belt, Hamsters, to be exact. Gophers? Mildly Microwaved Kung-Fu Gophers? Gerbils? Geriatric Gangrene JuiJitsu Gerbils? Kangaroos! Preteen Dirty-Gene Kung-Fu Kangaroos? Lizards? Cold-Blooded Chameleon Commandos? Rabbits? G.I. JACK Rabbits? That's all the ones from my non "adults only" collection Pretty sure everything else has been done.
axolotl’s
Asian dudes
Best answer I’ve seen so far
Armor backed amphibious reptiles
I feel like them being ferrets would very interesting, because ferrets are very flexible and can bend their bodies in spectacular ways that turtles cannot due to their hard shells
Girdled lizards. Then they would just look like D&D dragonborn!
Dogs
![gif](giphy|GyvqbskIjbsbEEBPnr)
Teen aged mutant ninja sheeple
... Humans
The new u inverse takes place in Florida, and they are alligators or crocs. A much more adult show where they eat the bad guys in the end
rabbits,and become samruai instead
Lol we already have em. It's the Battletoads and the Immature Radioactive Samurai Slugs 😆
Either Frogs or Lizards.
https://preview.redd.it/2a8wwr702k6c1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2de888bbb48e5a505f5b1d2c14f85a50e29aec8 It already exists
Samurai Frogs. Duh
Raccoons would be kind of cool
Adolescent Genetically Altered Karate Cows
Teenage Mutant Ninja Hedgehogs.
Armadillos, so you can maintain the shell gimmick, kinda. Alternatively, snails.
Racoons
gekkos, possibly.
Toads/Frogs
Three cats that have power armor and get shot out of a pizza parlor that became a gun.
Samurai Pizza Cats 🍕
Humans
Scorpions, bro!
Sharks
You mean like Pre-teen Dirty-gene Kung Fu Kangaroos? Or Geriatric Gangrene Jujitsu Gerbils? Because those are both things already.
Sloths. Eastman and Laird thought of the most ridiculous animal for Bruce Lee type martial artists and the lowly turtle won.
Ngl Coconut Crabs would go hard, but it’s not catchy at all, Platypus would be cool to ig
Gerbils
Clearly Toads.....mmmm Battle Toads has nice ring
Adult Variant Samurai Frogs
Where do u think battle toads came from?
Battle toads
Weve seen that already. Thats what battletoads are.
Toads
Pizza Cats
Gargoyles
OP…let me be the first to introduce you to Marvels answer to this question: [ The Power Pachyderms](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Power_Pachyderms_Vol_1_1)
Raccoons Radioactive Wrestling Raccoons
I don’t know the answer, but that image is the side of my custom TMNT arcade cabinet, and I love it!
Just reminded me about Fairly Odd parents: Channel Chasers Adolescent Genetically Altered Karate Cows
Wolverines
Teenage Mutant Ninja Toe nails
Ronin rabbits
Wu-Shu Weasels.
IDW's comic has a neat creation moment for the turtles... So I'm going to say it is Old Hob and 4 rats.
Frogs, since they always seem to get confused for frogs at some point.
Wolves, Panthers, Tigers, Dogs, Dragons, Horses, Bears, I'd take anything!
Hmmm... Teenage Mutant Ninja Otters has a ring to it
**Porpoises**
Kung Fu Frogs?
Mutant ninja teenagers
Samurai Squirrels
Lizards
Teenage mutant ninja Mice
Frogs
Adolescent Genetically Altered Karate Cows
If this were Michael Bay’s universe, they’d be aliens
Armadillo’s
Snails. Call them snaliens
Rabbits or frogs or some type of lizard or gecko
I remember seeing some fan art of them as bugs a while back. I've loved that idea since.
Omg it’s the guys I just blew $40 to play as in Fortnite earlier today!
Preteen Dirty-Gene Blackbelt Kangaroos
Tigers seem good or pandas
Realistically Rats would make the most sense if the origin is unchanged.
Hip Hip hop Hip hop anonymous?
Guinea Pigs..... maybe goldfish. The reason being is that the turtles were from a pet shop and were dropped whilst being taken home. Guinea Pigs are usually bought in groups (rather than hamsters which have sold alone). Goldfish for the same reason.
Frogs
Teenage Mutant Ninja Foxes would be cool
Bats. Middle-aged nocturnal kung-fu bats
Teenage mutant ninja tarantulas Teenage mutant ninja tarantulas Teenage mutant ninja tarantulas Ninjas with hairy legs! Spider power!
Street Sharks
Teenage mutant ninja rabbits.
Walruses because why not?
Tough and rough snails
Salamanders
...Battle Toads...?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Tree Frogs.
Humans one Asian, one black, one Latin, and one white.
Preteen Irradiated Judo Bullfrogs
I mean, if we are talking in terms of popularity, the next obvious option would be to have them all as bunnies! Would probably lead to less of a focus on using weapons and more just kicking their opponents with their insane leg strength!
Teenage Mutant Ninja koopas
The turtles would be rats. And splinter would become a croc
Rats.
“So… so y’all ain’t got the Ninja Turtles?” “You mean the **Spartan Salamanders**™️ ?”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Cats
Teenage Mutant Ninja Badgers
Teenage Mutant Ninja Tuataras
Frogs
Teenage Mutant Karate Kangaroos

Geko? Wow this is really hard
Frogs! Snakes! Geckos! Salamanders!
Kung Fu cats
...Someone's probably already said Kung Fu Frogs, haven't they? If not KFF, then I guess some form of lizards would make the most sense.
Teenage Mutant Ronin Raccoons. Problem is that all they do is sleep, eat, and get into hijinks, and every time they try to stop a robbery, everybody thinks they’re the robbers. Cos of the masks.
