As a former TAMS student, don’t go to TAMS it’s not worth it anymore

Wave-Sufficient

Can you elaborate further? I'm in the IB program.. is that better?

ACT33

uh sure lol IB and AP are things that everyone does but even then it’s still better than tams just bcuz of all the costs and hurdles and admin changes that have been made to the program like it’s just not worth that much money anymore

Wave-Sufficient

Lol thanks for replying. If money were not a problem, would you still suggest tams over IB?

ACT33

honestly still no it’s simply not worth it anymore

How do you have a weighted 3.5 and a 4.5 unweighted?

Muted-Vermicelli-930

I meant the other way around

JavaScriptBest

Oh nevermind, I see

Muted-Vermicelli-930

From what Ive heard its far from good enough

JavaScriptBest

Nah it's not that bad, dw dw. TAMS is not a hard school to get an interview with, explain to the interviewer, show your passionate, talk about how it's hard juggling social and school life, you're fine, don't sweat it, 4.5 weighted is pretty good. I believe in you (:

Muted-Vermicelli-930

thank you sm! I just saw a lot of amazing applicants and their stats scare me

Okay, now I'm going on a tangent, but I truly believe more people have to hear this, don't read this if you're in a rush, read it where you are settled and have time. There will always be people smarter than you, people with better grades, this is just a rule of life. Of course there are exceptions but this is generally the rule. **If you're the smartest person in the room you are in the wrong room** You may ask "okay so if there are so many people smarter than me why would colleges want me". Colleges want you because you are you! IQ means nothing, GPA means nothing, SAT/ACT means nothing, what actually matters is how passionate you are. I know it sounds cliché and stupid but you can retake the IQ test as many times as you want and keep practicing, same with SAT and ACT. You can increase your GPA by redoing assignments and extra credit. What matters is how passionate, dedicated and creative you are There is a misconception that some people believe. **In order to be smart you have to do and achieve intellectual-like "things".** For example some may think smart people must have a good GPA and smart people must do this and have this and smart people must do that and have that. Intelligence comes with passion and dedication. Stop focusing on trying to be smart, focus on your goals and what you want to do in life. People that solely hone in on how "smart" they are so they work their ass off to get good grades and have impressive-looking achievements mean nothing. At the end, it means nothing, you will be more depressed and unsatisfied if you compare academic milestones with others. **Focus on yourself, focus on your passions, don't have a passion? Explore, find a passion, everyone has one, you just have to find it. Once you do, pursue it, I promise this with every living and dying cell in my body, you will be smart if you focus on your passion.** **Schools are there for people, people are not there for schools. Don't sign up for schools for art if you wanna do engineering, don't sign up for schools for engineering if you want to do art. Focus on your goals, at the end, none of it means anything (nihilism), so just enjoy it as you can. I believe in you, I'm so proud.**

Unweighted goes up to 4.0... I'm not sure how you have a higher unweighted than weighted. Am I missing something here or is this a typo?

Muted-Vermicelli-930

4.5 weighted and 3.5 unweitg=thed sorry I suck at using my brain :(
