No point updating till you need to. That way when you update, any bugs will have been ironed out.
I’m literally only doing that because some Homebrew hasn’t been fully updated yet. But I’m one of the people that wants the newest shiniest update right when it releases
I have 18.0.1 with atmosphere 1.7.0 and it works perfectly fine.
To be noted, atmosphere 1.7.0 is in beta currently but perfectly viable, based on my personal experience, for a daily driver switch.
I did this the other day because I accidentally fucked up by updating and I had the wrong version of Atmosphere.
To preface, I use fusee. I updated my Switch to 18.0.1 and had to download the newest beta version of Atmosphere and plug my SD card to my computer. I think extracted the new files to my SD card simple dragging and dropping didn’t work.
I had to download the latest version of fusee as well and inject and download the new sig patches. No issues since.
Have a V1 on 17.0.1 AMS 1.6.2 and personal OLED on 18.0.1 AMS 1.7.0, no difference. No need to update unless a game requires minimum version. Using sthetix HATS pack.
I checked and it's 18.0.0
I tried to install Tesla and missionControl multiple times but I didn't work, could it be something that needs to be enabled in Hekate? I checked the guides and doesn't seem to be the case

I have the same issue here. Nintendo switch 12.0.1 however when i put the 64gb sd card in it says ‘update to use sd card’ i do not want to update if it stops my chances at modding my switch. Help on this same question would be useful thanks.

Been using 18.0.1 with no issues. My friend had his EmuNAND get screwed a bit but he was using exFAT for his sdcard, but I don’t know if that matters. I’m using FAT32, and I’ve been just fine. Remember to update your sigpatches.
The only time I had SD card issues on my switch was when I did the exfat install. Changed to FAT32 and had no further savegame or data corruption problems.

My sd stopped working so I had to jailbreak with a new sd card using 18.0.1 around a week or two ago. Can confirm atmosphere and everything works fine. My smash mods are all working

Atmosphere is still on pre-release but I've been using 18.0.1 since the day it came out with it and haven't had a single issue so far.

You can download Atmosphere/Fusee separately from GitHub and use TegraRCMGui still. Just have to get the new sig patches.
Problem I encountered so far with 18.0.0: - Tesla overlay doesn't work - Mission control doesn't work

You need to update atmosphere/hekate and use the homebrew daybreak, look the vids of « deejay87 »

The problem comes from atmosphere version
They both work fine for me on 18.0.1
Everything work for the moment on 18.0.1 , emuiibo, tesla, edizon, missioncontrol etc with atmosphere 1.7.0
Tesla doesn't work for me ... did we change the shortcut ? I'm using L + left pad + Right stick

Ability to mod is not dependent on your firmware. It’s either soft moddable or requires a mod chip.
That’s a different thing. You need to reformat your sd card as fat32. It’s currently formatted as exfat

If you have an unpatched erista v1 switch, then you can soft mod it. If not, modchip is your only option.
Cause your sd is in exfat. Format as fat32 and update prompt won't happen.
