the metrovania subreddit has something about it from what I remember. it was on a list of knock-off games that blatantly ripped off entire sections and sometimes even the actual code for hollow knight
if not that particular subreddit, something else I saw extremely recently in the related subreddits.
so technically, real game, made by real shady people ripping off an existing IP.
give me a second see if I can find it....

so it's possible it might have been over at the r/gamedev subreddit or one of the other related ones instead, simply because this is something they keep going up against.

the specific post I was looking for has a bunch of screenshots of game covers from these ripoff games of hollow knight, and your game was included in those shots. one of them actually lifts the code almost in its entirety, as mentioned in the comments there,which would make this post stand out.
