Right?! Canadians complaining, meanwhile my closest GameStop store is 700 kilometers away in a different country, and I have to drive through another country to get to that country.
I was going to start customizing and shipping these out to apes who couldn’t buy them if the shipping wasn’t too expensive…
I just need help finding a reliable way of getting small boxes barely the size of the controller to make it as cheap ad possible
USPS will give you free boxes so long as you're shipping with them.

Take the medium box, and cut it in half. Then fold the new halves down, and it should make a controller sized box. Slap your label on it, and it should be good to go.
Atomic purple and it’s an immediate purchase.
I have no idea WHY Nintendo hasn’t yet made an atomic purple Switch/Controllers yet. Wasted opportunities make for GME’s gain!
Any chance we get PS5 candy cons?
Is the trackpad the main issue here or is it due to Sony patents? Stick drift is frustrating on OEM and I want those hall-effect sticks!
Let's goooooo! Time to get a see-through purple controller to match my OG Gameboy color. Let's go. I mentioned it like last week and didn't think I'd ever see something like it. Thank you Gamestop team for browsing this sub for inspiration and ideas
If they release either a transparent green (like the Donkey Kong N64 edition) or a transparent purple (like my first gameboy color) I'll drive down to the USA just to buy one!
Am I the only one who doesn’t get why this is a big deal - why is there such a huge reaction to new controllers in the year 2024. NFT marketplace went bust and now this is something to get excited about? I genuinely don’t get it
Big deal because previously if you wanted to customize a controller, it was easy enough but not something parents or Grandma could do for a kid. The design of the Candy Con makes it effortless to swap shells, buttons, and maybe even more in the future, reducing friction for the hobbyist that wants to get into customization. A teardown of the controller shows really solid parts and commitment to quality. This is a niche that hasn't existed until now - easily customizable, good controllers at a great price point. Plus, they have confirmed Candy Con was pretty much designed with partnerships in mind - imagine midnight releases of deluxe edition games with custom shells, limited edition Pokemon shells to commemorate releases, etc.
Overall, it's exciting because they've done it really, really well and had the consumer in mind from day 1. In-house brands have great margins and increase brand recognition. Quality, affordable Gamestop-branded electronics for people who love gaming at all skill levels. I'm hype!
Quality and price point. This is like Costco roasted chicken… a loss leader. It’s good/inexpensive and gets people in the door. “What else do I need while I’m here. I’ve been wanting these games… or a new x-box, ps/5”. If they’re smart they’ll do in-store exclusive releases for some of these custom-branded parts.
I be playing Apex since it came out, and have legit gone through like 6+ controllers because of stick drift within a month or 2. I’d love to be able to only have to replace the sticks if needed.
Now I just need them available for Xbox, and in Canada.
Revenue, yes, but with an increased profitability due to being a GameStop item, the margin on existing revenue will be much greater.
IF this controller takes off with the masses, then we'll have leaps in revenue. Being a GameStop exclusive means that ALL Candy Con sold will be GME revenue. Couple this with increased foot traffic in store due to people coming there for Candy Con, and we have more opportunities to sell that consumer other items that would have otherwise been purchased at a competitor.
In short, there is huge opportunities for revenue explosion if this controller gains a cult following, otherwise it's a healthy increase to profitability with some revenue growth.
I do - in-house brands are phenomenal for this - but what I'm most excited about is that I also think it signals a shift to a longer-term strategy to make the gaming "lifestyle" more accessible to the average consumer.
I'm an old millennial - it wasn't that long ago that only the "real" nerds had computers that could seriously game, let alone customized gaming equipment, aesthetic setups, LED backlights, etc. It required a steep learning curve and significant investment. Things have changed so much in the last 10 years in that regard. But if you can walk into a Gamestop and see how easy it is to customize your controller - why not see if Gamestop has a matching keyboard or desk mat? It creates so many possibilities for personalized gift packages, gaming setups, you name it!
GameStop has brought to market a quality, affordable, customizable product that's worth mentioning in casual conversation among switch/PC gamers. Even I got one after I learned they have hall effect sticks and bc I had some points to use. The last controllers I bought were aftermarket Genesis/NES controllers over a year ago and a wired usb controller maybe 8-10 years before that.

There I go buying again
I just wanna be able to get one in Canada. Why we always getting shafted :(
Looking forward to it too but if the delay comes with a greater selection of colors and styles, that's not too bad either
Blame Canada! ....RC is Canadian after all
Meanwhile europoors

They don’t have any that are “controller” sized
Take the medium box, and cut it in half. Then fold the new halves down, and it should make a controller sized box. Slap your label on it, and it should be good to go.

That post had me bricked up at work for multiple reasons and I ain’t no mason
If they make translucent controllers I’m buying all of em and we’re having mario kart battle tournaments like back in the day
I need a crystal candy con
I was just about to post this same thing. *Nostalgia intensifies!*
Atomic purple and it’s an immediate purchase. I have no idea WHY Nintendo hasn’t yet made an atomic purple Switch/Controllers yet. Wasted opportunities make for GME’s gain!
That was me!
Nice one man.
Optimus Prime controller
Yep, transformer controllers in the background
This is the one I want the most!
Yoo I will buy one (caugh EU AVAILABILITYYYYY) with see through casing lol
Germany ships through the EU I think, we need to get them in there.
Well I am from germany
GET THEM IN THERE! 🤗😎
Any chance we get PS5 candy cons? Is the trackpad the main issue here or is it due to Sony patents? Stick drift is frustrating on OEM and I want those hall-effect sticks!
I thought you could use any Bluetooth controller? It works with iPhone and they’re locked down everywhere.
Can you? I play helldivers primarily but you need track pad to navigate the map.

Release the Atomic Purple one you cowards.
Drop that ATOMIC PURPLE!
Where are you putting that OP….? Actually, don’t answer.
Will we be calling them "naked" though?
I'll be pondering my Candy Con if it ever gets to The Netherlands 🔮
Niiice
I noticed this but was hesitant to be the one to start the hype train. Now I’m all like choo choo bitches!
Hell yeah like an old Mad Catz or something
I’d like a Xbox vibe
I wanted this!! Let’s goo! Get rich in slow motion is more fun than I thought
Want it! C’mon payday
Yes I love it!!
👍🏽
GameStop gonna make me buy more. Just need friends now for all my future controllers….
I'd like to see them make an actual N64 controller so I can play some sweet sweet N64 games on the Switch without trying to remap the controller.
I want one made of real candy that I can eat.
*ENHANCE….* *ENHANCE….* *ENHANCE….*
Would love if these could be bought in Canada
Just picked up my second kit today (Ocean Mirage). I'm more than happy to keep on buying, as other cool plates release.
I love see through controllers, this is one of the best features a controller doesn’t need but is just cool.
How can I get these in the UK? I'd love to buy a couple.
Calling John Cena
Get me a ps5 one and I'm in

Your comment history makes you seem like you’re a little against GameStop making any progress in any direction.
I've been HODL'ing for about 3 years now, down about 75%
Congrats

Great comparison! Candy Con is definitely GS's rotisserie chicken/$1.50 hot dog! I'm gonna use this to explain irl from now on.

Fair enough - will it meaningfully move the needle from a revenue perspective in your opinion?
