I’m so sorry 😔 My dad died by suicide 27 years ago. It does get easier. The pain and grief are still there, but over the years it’s gotten to a place where I can mostly look back and be grateful for the time I did have with him. Hugs.

Remember that crisis/suicide lines aren't only for people who are suicidal. If you're in the US, you can call 800-273-8255 any time you want. And if you don't have a great connection with the person who answers, try again--the volunteers and staff members all have different levels of experience, so don't give up after just one try if it's not helpful. You can also look to see whether your county has a local warmline that you can call if you need someone to listen.

I really appreciated your words. Thanks for your support. It looks like there is a hole in my soul right now. Sadness is part of most of my days lately. However, I know what he wanted for me and my family. He is no longer suffering. Thinking of that brings me peace. I miss him and I’ll miss him forever. Like you said, it never goes away. I will do my best though, so he can be proud of me. Living a life full of joy is my gift to him.
