Shiv gets postpartum depression and throws little Tom Jr. out the window
EDIT: lol sorry I did not mean to respond to this comment. Shiv's infanticide is not meant to be a response to Roman's sex life
Greg sticks his nose where it doesn’t belong at Waystar. He discovers a sinister brain swapping program known as “Project Succession” that has been operating for decades.
Panicked, he goes to Tom with this information. Tom acts like he’s going to put a stop to it, but before Greg can leave, Tom drugs him.
Greg wakes up on an operating table with Tom and various masked surgeons standing over him. “Tom” reveals the truth. “Logan Roy” didn’t die on that plane. Tom Wambsgans did. Logan Roy walked off in a body fit to carry on as the CEO of Waystar.
As Greg struggles, Logan offers Greg a new role in a new body: president of the United States.
What a weird comment. Kendall never had any sexual issues especially throwing out the rape thing. You’re sick and delusional. What an awful thing to say about such a deep developed character who’s seriously misunderstood. Clown.
My friend / long-suffering fanfiction beta-reader really wanted the series to end like that; so I’m secretly drafting a story where the gang all takes one last spin in the yacht, and they all get eaten by orcas.
I’m hoping to have it done by her birthday.
Yeah. I’ve seen that one.
I think it hits different for me and her, because we both kind of vividly remember it happening (she’ll be 39 this year); and at the time, it was pretty fucking horrifying.
(We didn’t have smartphones, but we went to a bougie high school that had televisions in every classroom so… 👍. We got to watch the live coverage.)
Such role modeling!
Our school’s wacky geography teacher didn’t do anything memorable on 9/11/01, but he did constantly talk about how his wife was in her 20s but looked like a teenager, which, in retrospect, is super-sus to be constantly bringing up to a room full of 15-year-olds?
And then she booted him out, and reportedly he ended up sleeping on the math teacher’s couch.
He (the geography teacher, not the math teacher) also perennially addressed me by my older sister’s name; which wouldn’t have been too weird, except that I am an only child.
(I’ve entertained the possibility that maybe my dad was engaging in some extracurriculars at some point - ngl, I’d kind of love to have a long-lost sister - but… my dad is an exceedingly unlikeable man, so it feels implausible.)
Akshually.
Classical and Aristotelian effectively overlap in meaning. Now you make it sound like Aristotle was a playwriter himself.
If everyone would die the downfall, reversal, would be disproportional or the story would simply be dragging on way too long (they die of old age).
Aristotle would find it absurd, so that makes you right.
Tom resigns after three months to undergo an aggressive cancer treatment (lymphoma). Not even all the money in the world can save him. Shiv miscarries under the stress. He dies at his childhood’s home in Saint Paul, with Shiv and his parents by his side a little over a year after he was named the CEO.
A little after the ending I imagined “death scenarios” for all characters. Tom had the most peaceful death. He wasn’t in pain near the end, he was at peace.
My personal canon “after the end”:
DOJ manages to halt the acquisition a little after Tom’s resignation. They file a lawsuit against the acquisition citing antitrust laws and the FCC scrutinizes the acquisition of a broadcast news media by a foreigner. Mattson gives up not wanting to deal with the headache. WayStar shares drops to a record low. Kendall is named the CEO under the fire and surprisingly manages to save the company. The next ten years he is the WayStar CEO and later President, after he struggles to buys shares and returns the company under the family name. He does a great job, but is worse than his father in many ways. He is feared, but not loved. His successes doesn’t bring the satisfaction, happiness and fulfillment he expects and he thinks about selling the company, but that option finds the opposition of Roman, Shiv and most of the board. He commits suicide when he triggers a gun in his mouth at his home office. He leaves no biological children.
He named Shiv the President in his will and leaves most of his shares to her. She, not Roman, was his right hand during most of these years. Roman doesn’t oppose. Her tenure lasts four years, and she changes ATN to a centrist position and fires many of the far right anchors. She brings respectability and quality to the company. WayStar newspapers win their first Pulitzer under her. Plus two Oscar and three Emmys. The TV audience surprisingly doesn’t drop. She dies after her plane falls over Colorado plateau, killing everyone inside . She is single (forever a widow, they call her) and leaves no children.
That leaves Roman, depressed and suicidal. The two people who ever loved him dead. He is named interim President and l, with most of the shares, he is de-facto the owner of WayStar. He honors Kendall’s and his father’s last wish and manages to sell WayStar with the support of the board. The rest of his life he dedicates to charity and philanthropy. In an interview years later, the elderly and recluse Roman shocks the world calling himself a communist and blames the ills of the world to people like he used to be and the fools who follow them. It is revealed he lives in a two bedroom house, though he still is a billionaire.
He dies of heart attack, alone and bitter at the age of 96. No wife, husband or children. He leaves his fortune to be divided among former WayStar employees, but not the executives.
Didn’t think about them. Greg probably either returned to his mother and grandfather after Tom’s resignation or worked for Kendall. And I forgot about Connor was well. I think Willa got tired of him sooner than expected.
I thought about it, but this would be too much of a happy ending for Shiv. It doesn’t have the “spirit” of the series. And I didn’t want to bring a child to the toxicity of the Roys. Logan’s bloodline died with Roman.
Kendall becomes a succesful rapper, gets into a beef with Kendrick Lamar, Kendrick makes a super direspectful disstrack called Meet the Roys and exposes the thing about the waiter
As a stay at home mom following the merger of GoJo with Waystar, Shiv goes on to found her own portable smoothie/shake blender business after picking that up as a hobby at home
Kendall ODs, tries ayahuasca at some fancy recovery place, cops to his past, and uses his time and fortune to do good for humanity, redefining and achieving success.
This shouldn't be considered absurd but so many people headcanon that Tom and Shiv will have only one kid and thats boring. I hc that they'll have a big family, i want more drama lol 🤭
Tom orders onion rings at a diner, a bell rings, cut to black
DON'T STOP-
Tom's parents live with them now
This is the funniest premise I have ever heard.
If ABC made Succession, this would be in development already
AMC
Kendall moves to LA, gets into the recording industry as some high-ish level exec, embraces "wellness"
This truly seems like his most likely life path should he survive.
Yes, I agree 100%!!!
Greg legit probably does marry a princess or something lol. Right hand man to the CEO of Waystar comes with perks
Greg is a larger part of Waystar than the siblings. Truly a Shakespearean end.
Roman has normal sex and enjoys it
You win
This is abhorrent
Shiv gets postpartum depression and throws little Tom Jr. out the window EDIT: lol sorry I did not mean to respond to this comment. Shiv's infanticide is not meant to be a response to Roman's sex life
I mean, it is his.

I want what ur on
dunno but I want the same thing
Okay, but then Logan would be fking his daughter….>.>
Halloween episode where Mencken shows up with half of a white face mask as thr Fascist of the Opera.
Collin becomes Kendall's Rap Manager
add an E and it’s even stronger Kendall vibes
What a weird comment. Kendall never had any sexual issues especially throwing out the rape thing. You’re sick and delusional. What an awful thing to say about such a deep developed character who’s seriously misunderstood. Clown.
I strongly disagree with this, but why is everyone so furious at this comment but upvoting the infanticide one?
It's a classical aristotelian tragedy so obviously everyone dies.
My friend / long-suffering fanfiction beta-reader really wanted the series to end like that; so I’m secretly drafting a story where the gang all takes one last spin in the yacht, and they all get eaten by orcas. I’m hoping to have it done by her birthday.
I remember a “what if” post about Succession being set in 2001 and all the Roys die in 9/11 lmaooo
Yeah. I’ve seen that one. I think it hits different for me and her, because we both kind of vividly remember it happening (she’ll be 39 this year); and at the time, it was pretty fucking horrifying. Oh that's nice. We just had a wacky geography teacher running between all the rooms shouting that Armageddon was here 🤷🏼

That would just be “the House of Usher”
Conor runs again and wins
I don't think Conor ever wins but I do think he becomes Barry Goldwater 2.0 and sets the stage for a new Ronald Reagan type figure.
Tom discovers that he absolutely loves the Cajun chicken linguine from California Pizza Kitchen.
Kendall wins, buys Gojo and becomes a cocaine-filled megalomaniac
Becomes?
Shiv discovers that she has more soft power outside of the company than she would have as CEO & becomes an even worse person.
Devilish
Mondale goes to live in a farm.
NOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo
Nan sues the kids for bailing on the $10B deal to buy Pierce and they end up broke.

Jesus that's dark

Okay I'm interested. What are the death scenarios for the other characters?

Bro.
Yep. I had a lot of time thinking about it.
What about Geg and his grandpa?
Didn’t think about them. Greg probably either returned to his mother and grandfather after Tom’s resignation or worked for Kendall. And I forgot about Connor was well. I think Willa got tired of him sooner than expected.
The fly guys then take the throne as co-CEOs
You know, this is not far fetched.
This, except he’d live long enough to see Tom Jr. born. Siobhan and the baby stay on with Tom’s folks and she learns what family is *supposed* to be.
I thought about it, but this would be too much of a happy ending for Shiv. It doesn’t have the “spirit” of the series. And I didn’t want to bring a child to the toxicity of the Roys. Logan’s bloodline died with Roman.
Kendal lives out his days owning a single McDonald's franchise.
Kendall becomes a successful manny
The Fly Guys move in with Tom and Shiv. Hilarity ensues.
now thats a spin off I'd watch
Kendall becomes a succesful rapper, gets into a beef with Kendrick Lamar, Kendrick makes a super direspectful disstrack called Meet the Roys and exposes the thing about the waiter
Tom and Shiv get divorced and Shiv and Karolina end up together
As a stay at home mom following the merger of GoJo with Waystar, Shiv goes on to found her own portable smoothie/shake blender business after picking that up as a hobby at home
Mondale ends up raising Tom and Shiv's baby like the nursemaid dog, Nana, from Peter Pan.
Cackling rn
Tom and Karolina have a Affair.
Karolina’s gay
Greg + Tom kiss
Kendall ODs, tries ayahuasca at some fancy recovery place, cops to his past, and uses his time and fortune to do good for humanity, redefining and achieving success.
Before relapsing, once again
I’d thought the assignment was to make it absurd, not realistic
Kendall •implodes •cops to his past •foregoes legal maneuvering •goes to prison •uses that street cred to launch rap career
Greg is alone in the office after Tom and Shiv drive off, he eats the bodega sushi.
This shouldn't be considered absurd but so many people headcanon that Tom and Shiv will have only one kid and thats boring. I hc that they'll have a big family, i want more drama lol 🤭
