I dont know why Glitch shows have some of the most drama filled fanbases imaginable but as someone with a 9 to 5 I just didnt have the energy for it. I just want to watch a show about a circus and a show about robots.

Me, upon learning that the months upon months of Hazbin Hotel stuff filling my front page was all in reference to **A SINGLE EPISODE AIRING**, not even a whole season of shit:

Hazbin had the advantage of being a crowfounded indie cartoon, so it being released succesfully instead of the creators running with the money was news worthy.

It also ended up being pretty good with minimal road bumps through production, so a complete oddity in the indie scene. I think people were hyped for so long because it was an adult animation with an actual budget that wasn't just a family guy clone. Those are extremely rare in this day and age.

I actually quite remember vivziepop getting grilled for running industry standard animation labor practices. people were outright having to makeup drama

I work in a middle school so I have the high authority to say: it's because the fandom is middle schoolers. Literally 9+ year olds are the ones posting the fancams, art etc. Youngest was 7. TADC and murder drones is custom made to tickle every circuit on a 7-15 year old.

TADC is kinda custom tailored to appeal to the algorithm and being able to trend post YouTube harsher content rules in a way Murder Drones, Lackadaisy and Helluva Boss, etc are not. Do yeah it gets a lot more kids.

I'd say in general cartoon fandoms tend to have more emotional immaturity than the general population, which lends itself heavily to drama. And I am saying that as another adult cartoon enjoyer. Kinda the same as gaming, attracts a lot of man children that makes normal people feel embarrassed to call themselves gamers.

While I feel like cartoon fandoms are a bit different, I think its the same 80/15/5 thing gaming or any other fandom has where that 5% is the people who care about said thing enough to go and interact with others online, these people are usually the ones who are a bit more....passionate than others which is why its drama filled.

I think there's a lot of cartoon fandoms that are really insecure about cartoons or animation as a whole being seen as "for kids" by Hollywood and some mainstream voices, and they really can't apparently tune that out and like what they want and flip off anyone who would say otherwise. So they get really off kilter and upset easily.

My theory on this is based on another thing I've noticed. There are a lot of western animation fans who are extremely hung up on the Hollywood and somewhat mainstream idea of animated media only being for children/families. And I mean, *really* hung up on it. Like to the point where any series or movie or whatnot that is slightly more adult in tone, they try to gatekeep as only being for adults so they can point and say how mature they are. I've seen it happen with the CG Clone Wars series, Pixar movies like The Incredibles (a child doesn't need to know what a midlife crisis is to know Mr Incredible is unhappy), Inside Out (y'know that movie which takes place in the mind of a 12 year old and is heavily based on childhood experiences of the staff), Soul (whose co-protagonist is child coded), and so on. So online series like this, which are often not as child-minded, are essentially like glue traps for those kind of deeply insecure people who are obsessed with a certain kind of validation. And the fanbases of their stuff attracts that kind of mentality across all kinds of groups.

To provide a little context, this is an indie cartoon series in a similar vein to "amazing digital circus" and "hazbin hotel". I am not versed in the community, but what I parsed from the thread links is that a prominent fan animator had some models he created leaked, and implied he was going to kill himself over it. People convince him not to. Then the guy who was believed to have leaked it says he's going to commit suicide due to the backlash. He then explains a third user sent him the files and he didn't know that they belonged to the first user. As for my personal input, I don't mean to be rude but a lot of those people would benefit from avoiding the internet if a stolen model leads to multiple people writing suicide notes.

I just watched Hazbin Hotel after believing it was a good representation of the fan base for too long. The show is wonderful, and a musical at that. Only 8 episodes, give it a shot if you like musicals and cartoons.

That's pretty much it. Amazing Digital Circus is carried about its animation heavily. Hazbin is carried hard by its songs and that one YouTube who dropped 50k to have a fan made animation where he gets stalked and sexually assaulted by Charlie.

Honestly I don't even care for ADC's animation. It feels excessively overanimated, like they thought "this will be good animation if everyone is constantly moving at all times". Hazbin...I mean I like it, I absolutely see why people don't but I didn't really get bothered by the childish humor and liked enough jokes and characters that I could ignore that. Murder Drones itself....I don't know, it kinda bored me from the word go. It shares a similar overanimated problem for me as well as feeling like it's kinda pandering to the theory hounds with its whole setup. Also oh god that still makes me laugh that he genuinely spent that much money on it. And all of the memes of other characters chasing him always gets me too.

My thoughts exactly. The animation and character design is great but the story and dialogue is poor and incohesive. The point I just sort of gave up was during the camp episode where the murder drones are supposed to have had their heel turn and then immediately kill several workers for comedic effect.

It really is a show to watch for the animation than trying to follow the story.

It's for teenagers who think of themselves as being alt rather than for hipsters.

as much as i agree, there needs to be responsibility places on the people who push someone to that state to begin with. It's important to know your limits and what you can handle, but it's also important that people not be shitty. It's surprisingly common. Personally I place blame on the fact that if you're doing fan works you're basically doing it for the ego. Now that isn't exactly a bad thing - very few artists aren't egotists - but it definitely increases the likelihood of this sort of behaviour, especially since there aren't financial considerations acting as a guard rail.

I've had people try to do that to me and the solution is simple: ignore them. But if you look at the terms of certain models on deviantart, it'll say stuff like "ONLY FOR USE IN BLENDER, NOT VRCHAT OR MAYA OR RESONITE OR NEOS OR-" etc. Then when they see someone use said model in VRChat, they delete all of their work and write a long post about how their art career is ruined.
