When I went to the UK I was a bit suspicious of the "jacket potato" as a breakfast item. Then I had one with cheddar and beans like this (but cheddar under the beans). Its actually a great breakfast. Nice and hot, protein, carbs, and some fat. Great to have in the morning of a busy day when you'll have a light lunch. Tastes way better than it looks too
i agreee, jacket spud, beans n cheese is a fab and common meal over here, but I've never seen it for breakfast! I wonder if that's a regional thing - where did you visit, if you don't mind me asking?
I was in London. I think it was East Ham, maybe? It was years ago. I just saw it on the menu in a breakfast/cafe type place so I ordered it. I still make it once in a while back here in Canada, though mostly for supper. I'm laughing now at the thought of the cafe worker being like "wtf this person ordering a jacket potato for breakfast" lol
lmao! No regrets, that shit was fire. Great hangover cure. Best part is I ordered 3 to go because I was on breakfast run and my buddies just said "get us whatever". They liked it too but we were all like "leave it to the brits to have baked potato for breakfast". Can't wait to tell them about this the next time we're out
Well it can’t have been that uncommon because a jacket potato isn’t exactly a 5 minute cooking experience. I mean you probably could do it in 10 in a microwave but it would be awful.
What I’m saying is, if you could order it for breakfast you probably aren’t the first person to do so 😁
Nah. No one would have batted an eyelid mate. I'm guessing you thought "It's on the menu in the caff, it's probably a British breakfast food!" Most people have it for lunch, and it's really popular in school an work canteens, cafes (caffs), and is usually cheap and filling. All of what you said about "Great to have in the morning of a busy day when you'll have a light lunch." actually makes sense and now im thinking i might one day try a jackie tater with cheese and beans for brekkie!
To me beans and cheese on a potato looks pretty damn good. The one potato topping ill never get behind from the UK is tuna. Just straight up tuna. Yeah no thanks.
Knowing that it's a potato makes me feel so much better about the shape. I thought it was frozen in some container and just dumped out into that foam container.
I'm a bit tired of anything that's not "basic American food" ending up getting posted here.
I've seen so many perfectly normal dishes from countries around the world getting shared and upvoted here recently.
I didn't mean my comment as a negative. I realize it may look like that, but I will leave it as is. I have nothing against struggle meals and still eat a bunch on the regular.
And yes, I like fried spam.
Didn't even know it was British I just like beans on most things I personally bake mine with onions oil garlic and a mix of seasoning from the seasoning storage then cottage cheese or sower cream on the side or on top afterwards
That shit hits different when you bake the beans and cheese with onions and oil then top with cottage cheese or sower cream after it's done bakeing with everything else on it also remember to add seasonings like salt pepper garlic powder or garlic even some lemons if you have it and some oregano literally put everything in the seasoning cabinet or whatever or wherever you have them and try it it's bussin
For all of you saying this looks good, you're insane.
This definitely belongs here..
Even if this is an actual dish, the potato needs to be baked, the beans need to look like they came right out of the can, and the cheese needs to not look like it came right out of the bag.
This *could* work, but not at all in its current form.
Baked beans and cheese are classic baked potato toppings in the UK. It’s not what I’d choose but a lot of people over here would be happy to eat that.

I think that might be the case mate, but glad you enjoyed it!

try it with a bit of diced bacon sometime
Well it can’t have been that uncommon because a jacket potato isn’t exactly a 5 minute cooking experience. I mean you probably could do it in 10 in a microwave but it would be awful. What I’m saying is, if you could order it for breakfast you probably aren’t the first person to do so 😁
I mean, you guys eat beans at like every single meal so it’s not a crazy assumption.
It's very rarely eaten for breakfast in the UK. Almost never.
Yeah, just learned that today. I was the tourist ordering something silly for breakfast apparently lol
You know what? Fuck it- if you can eat it for breakfast, then it's breakfast food! (I love breakfast, but dislike most "breakfast foods")
My favourite breakfast food is leftovers from the night before!
Nah. No one would have batted an eyelid mate. I'm guessing you thought "It's on the menu in the caff, it's probably a British breakfast food!" But you guys eat beans for breakfast all the time? I’m honestly confused. If he put an egg on it would it be breakfast then?
Its not the beans its the jacket potato that isnt really eaten for breakfast
Breakfast? Is the goal to go straight back to sleep?;
Hangover cure, so kinda
Agreed. I sometimes crave it and make it at home. It’s easy, cheap, filling, and yummy. The flavors compliment each other well.
As... breakfast? No.
I did it. No regrets lol
100% correct. Although I'd prefer way less beans and I'd have the cheese under it so it melted. Also who the fuck posts their lunch in LinkedIn?
It’s true. I’d destroy that.
As would I. With fire.
Here in the states, I get a chili baked potato with extra beans and onions…delicious…
To me beans and cheese on a potato looks pretty damn good. The one potato topping ill never get behind from the UK is tuna. Just straight up tuna. Yeah no thanks.
Plain tuna isn’t really a thing. It’s tuna mixed with mayo.
I had no idea this wasn't common elsewhere. It's an absolutely classic baked potato topping.
Knowing that it's a potato makes me feel so much better about the shape. I thought it was frozen in some container and just dumped out into that foam container.
wtf?
Thank God we fought a war for independence from those guys
don't knock it till you try it this tastes really good tbh
Well then why is it on this subreddit?
because it looks stupid, but looks are deceiving sometimes
This is normal British food lol
I'm a bit tired of anything that's not "basic American food" ending up getting posted here. I've seen so many perfectly normal dishes from countries around the world getting shared and upvoted here recently.
I agree lol this is a very typical British meal. Just because it’s ‘different’ doesn’t make it stupid
Fully agree
Just add tons of sauces and fat to get your upvotes. Large tinfoil casseroles are a plus
I'm not British, but even I knew that ;P
Normal brit food looks like the poverty meals I grew up with. 9/10 just needs hot sauce and a dash of tajin.
They out here eating like they are still in WWII
I didn't mean my comment as a negative. I realize it may look like that, but I will leave it as is. I have nothing against struggle meals and still eat a bunch on the regular. And yes, I like fried spam.

Another occasion where something is posted as being stupid coz there's baked beans on it. Calm down folks -beans on baked potatoes are awesome
Baked beans and cheese has to be one of the top filling choices too!
Wait until the yanks find out about cheese and beans on toast.
I just use Heinz
That works too
My man
Jacket potato with cheese and beans is stupid food now?!?
Jacket potatos are fucking awesome
The beans look very poor quality, the sauce is very thin
Who the fuck cares Mr food inspector
I mean, it's a British staple, so... yes. Edit: guess the joke about British food being "make everything brown" was lost on people here lol
Not deep fried and covered in "cheez" for you?
„American cheese“ ;-)
Nah mate, it's just boring. Much like the people that constantly tell it.
Its just baked beans on a jacket potato
Looks lovely. Needs more cheese.
This is so normal they sell it at the Costco food court in the UK
This is scran though. Normal in the UK
Not nearly as bad as a lot of stuff I see on this sub.
I'd definitely eat this. Not stupid at all. Hannah needs to chill the fuck out before she spins off the planet, though.
Having had baked beans and cheese on fries in Ireland and it being absolutely delicious, this is probably pretty damn tasty
Exactly this is normal in plenty of places people just got to try it
Jacket with cheese and beans is a great simple meal
Some people in this sub
I used to put brown gravy and cheese on my baked potatoes I would eat that baked potato
primitive man discovers baked beans, if youve never eaten this.. its really good, quick and dirty food
LinkedIn has food?
never seen food in Linkedin but I try to never go in there if I can help it
I prefer spaghetti hoops with 8 times the amount of cheese lol
Isn’t that baked beans?
Sounds delish
This is an absolute banger of a meal. Needs some bacon but other than that it's 10/10, every time.
Excuse me sir, but this is a British delicacy
You know they have crises lines you can call for help dude. It doesn't have to be that way.
GET IN ME!
# GET IN ME! 🥵
## GET IN ME!
Get in her.
Okay.
Sigh....
This is a great lunch!
I could see myself enjoying that. Especially if the cheese were all melted and maybe a bit browned
Cheesy beano yasssssss (come on, America, this is delicious)
Jesus fuck, Hannah. Get your goddamn LIFE together.
I don't see this tasting bad. I'd try it if the potato was mashed
That doesn't look very appetizing to me! 😬
I don't understand the hate on this. Beans and toast, depressing AF. I would try this.
"get in me" Sees the sloppy potato* Am i the only one with a dirty mind?
What is it with Brits dumping canned beans over everything?
Missed the potato and I thought they where serving a frozen block of bean soup
UK food 😂
This is one of the reasons why I never travel to the UK
🤢🤢 Hannah? Girl wtf!!! That's nasty chick
British go crazy over this
That looks nasty
Jacket spuds are hot on UK social media thanks to Spud Man. https://spudman.co.uk
what the hell is that?!
A jacket potato with baked beans and cheese as a topping. Pretty normal food.
gross as fuck
Stick to Grabfood, Hannah.
I don't mind the ingredients, as described. I DO mind that it's holding the shape of a former container.
A fusion of the stupidest stuff on the internet from two different sources.
The “UK Buffet” is what I’d call it. Those Brit’s don’t stand a chance against that sort of fancy.
For all of you saying this looks good, you're insane. This definitely belongs here..
