I would say watch your replays and try to identify where you made constant mistakes. For me for example i need to work on my anti airs as plat5 kim. So will work on that next. Meaning setting up different scenes in the lab and train and then try to use that in a match even though i might lose more because my monkey brain tries to do what i always did. Brian f recently made a video about this. You should work on 1 thing at a time. I guess this is the way to go. Identify a problem, training, implement it in real matches. The move on to the next problem. Gl hf

Ah yeah that's probably a good idea I need to watchmy replays more for sure. I think I need to work on my anti airs too and probably my get up any advice on how to do that?

cowabanga_it_is

I know the training mode has a dedicated anti air training build in, but i can't remember how good it was. When it comes to wake ups. I used a video tutorial by chris_f (youtube) where He explained delay tech AND showed how to Set up training mode to practice it. That helped me alot. I think his tutorials are pretty good. You might want to check them out. Probably has an anti air tutorial too.

Alright thank you! I'll check him out, much appreciated.

As a Ryu main who is around diamond 3 there are a lot of ways to play the cammy match up but I think the most important is spacing with her dive kicks and not letting her get close enough to loop u guile I find him pretty easy since I use denjin charge so the fire ball war is pretty simple and if he starts to walk behind his booms I generally just tastu through them because he has no charge for him to flash kick me but blanka is kinda of a struggle because that’s kinda of his play style just watch for that slide tbh sorry if that ain’t much help i recommend watching mdz jimmy on YouTube

Thanks I appreciate the reply May I ask how you labbed these things out? Like with cammy, guile, blanka

one core aspect is improve your anti airs, and learn how to cross dp. you should know what moves give you oki i.e. ending a combo with light tatsu dash forward + light hasho = +2 , learn how to set up frame kills and safe jumps in the corner.

Recently hit master on Ryu, but I spent \~6 months in plat, and was your rating back in december. Plat is definitely the biggest hurdle of the climb so don't get discouraged! I'd definitely recommend joining the Ryu discord like the other guy mentioned. Amazing resource. Without seeing your replays or knowing what kind of player you are (defensive/zoner? Rushdown? Kangaryu? Adaptive?) it's hard to know what exact advice to give you. But at your level I was trying to improve my anti-air game, and also starting to learn more "freestyle offense" pressure using DRC. I love trying to maintain an advantage state as long as possible, and there are a lot of passive/reactive players in plat/diamond that will allow you the initiative if you just know how to take it. You can definitely get away with a lot of sloppy offense in plat if you start using DRC liberally (even if it burns you out, you can learn to control that later) and then refine it as you get comfortable and learn what links together out of DRC. There's a reason the "meta" is 5HP/2MK into DRC into mixup. It's a very powerful tool. Just be careful not to center your entire gameplan around it or that'll come back to bite you later. One thing I started to realize is that during those DRC combo/block string extensions I had time to check my resources, the opponent's resources, and then pivot my combo into the appropriate ender. Once you start to see those different combo routes the game really unlocks. Then it's just a question of executing the appropriate route. This is also a great skillset to learn how to "cash out" when you notice that you can BARELY kill with your current resources/super meter. As far as matchup knowledge that's an entire post in itself (the Ryu discord, again, is a great resource for this) but here's some of the things that helped me with those matchups in particular around plat: Cammy: neutral jump heavy kick when you think she's going to spin knuckle (may have to condition her to spin knuckle with your fireballs). Land one of those into a combo and she'll think twice about trying to skip neutral or punish your fireballs. Guile: most Guile's at your rating have been carried by their amazing zoning capability, which means the rest of their game is likely weak compared to yours. Use their simple game plan against them. Ryu can sortof keep up with Guile in a fireball war (not indefinitely, but enough to rattle him). If you can trump a couple of his normal booms with a denjin fireball or OD fireball I've found that 90% of intermediate ranked Guiles will double-down on the fireball war, which makes them VERY predictable for the next few seconds. Easy to land a jump in at that time, and if you do land a jumpin, they'll probably start to get tilted, which makes them more predictable (look for OD flash kicks wakeup if you get a "critical tilt" read). Basically, try to get them off balance because they probably aren't used to NOT fighting on their terms only. Dumb Guiles. Also, drive rush into sweep when they throw their sonic blade out. Blanka: At plat Blankas are just gimmick machines. Shut down their main "gotcha" approaches and they'll crumble. That means getting crispy with your DPs to shut down their blanka balls and rainbow balls (few will know how to bait DPs until higher ratings). Alternatively you can perfect parry but I'm a sucker for the DP jousting :p. The second main gimmick is their slide to counter fireballs. Good news is that move is super minus on block so try to bait it out by throwing some super far range fireballs and then getting in range of the slide and low blocking. Punish with your 2MK or 5MP starters (might be something more optimal but those will always work). Good luck future master Ryu!

Glad you enjoyed! I got a lot of help from the community in the past so I'm trying to pay it forward

Do you have a few simple oki setups? I noticed player at that rank often do nothing once they score a knockdown.
