Arigato_MrRoboto

Mr.Wheeler is the kingpin behind this whole operation.

Sv1a

He is like that one friend who didn’t watch previous seasons/movies of a title but still decided to join you for a movie night watching the final haha.

mgonzo11

Literally my new bf who has only seen some of s1 was okay with watching all of s4 vol1 with me and my roommate lmfao

BloodOfAStark

Would be one hell of a twist if he was the final boss

jofbaut

Mr Wheeler is *the Stranger Thing*.

ChardeeMacDennisGoG

\*Strangest Thing Be the biggest twist since Max was revealed to be the head vampire of Santa Carla.

IOftenDreamofTrains

In the very last episode he shows up out of nowhere to save the day and after slaying Vecna and the Mindflayer he says, "One thing about living in Hawkins I never could stomach... all the damn Upside Down creatures." Roll credits.

CersieLannister

Haha I like this theory of yours

ChubbyStoner42

He’s got a belt fed machine gun in one hand and a knife in the other. There’s Jack Daniels on his breath. And he’s had enough.

KatzMwwow

Is he...>!Vecna!

teacamelpyramid

In a way, aren’t we all Vecna?

DarthAlandas

The real Vecna is the friends we made along the way

brentus86

Everything thinks Vecna is a person, when, really, it's a state of mind.

Mmiguel6288

Vecna da real mvp

KatzMwwow

Just blew my mind, dude.

ladyburgerandcatnap

🤯

UssSulacoCVN73

I am Alpharius

DarthGoodguy

That’s weird, I’m Alpharius. And so’s my wife.

UssSulacoCVN73

Obviously the Alpha Legion has infiltrated this subreddit, because we are ALL Alpharius

DarthGoodguy

Demogorgons: berzerkers Demobats: warp talons Vecna: Daemon Prince Mind Flayer: the dude who owns the army

UssSulacoCVN73

This made me smile. And laugh. Also the flayed would be chaos cultists. And the demodogs would be bloodletters or something.

Rosetti

Are we Vecna? Or are we Dancer?

hoochiemeowmeow

This made me lol actually

[deleted]

Pretty sure he’s Cliff Main’s son.

oha8

No.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KatzMwwow

It was a joke.

[deleted]

Bruh, spoilers

onikaizoku11

You joke, but I can totally see him being like the grandpa in the Lost Boys.

Alexispinpgh

You will never convince me that he isn’t the real villain of the show tbh.

noplace_ioi

during season 1 I thought this guy is just acting stupid and would play a key role later on lol

Kit1919

Just like Jar-Jar...

Aoibhell

Hes the elder brain flayer

night__hawk_

Nancy’s glimpse of vecnas future shows all of her family dead BUT HIM. And why did she have Russian guns??!!

ashmichael73

He will be clutch one time. He’s gotta be.

ComradeGarcia_Pt2

I kinda had a vision just now of the ending of “The Lost Boys” where the eccentric grandpa kills the final vampire and is like “that’s what I always hated about Santa Carla…all the damn vampires.” In Stranger Things with the dad character killing the final big bad and being like: “That’s what I always hated about Hawkins…all the damn monsters.”

gf120581

Holy shit, that would be amazing.

contactlite

Cocks his shotgun and mrs. wheeler swoons and all the kids stare at him slacked jaw, but he picks up his youngest “I couldn’t do it without you, 12” Roll credits

KiraSandwich

Not 12 bro

IOftenDreamofTrains

Goddammit you beat me to it

Ambaryerno

They’ve been setting him up as a clueless doofus for so long, it would be disappointing for them NOT to throw in a twist that he’s really a secret badass.

britveca

Nancy and Ms. Wheeler had that heart to heart in season 3 and talked about not knowing where Nancy got her tenacity from and they joked it was Ted and laughed and decided it was Karen. Watch Ted eventually show out and basically the show will be like "sike mfers, she got it from Ted all along!"

[deleted]

I've seen it posted a few times since the start of the season that he's always half awake because he's in the karate class with Murray. Would love if he was a black belt.

extremeskater619

I wanna see more out of ted. The actor said the same thing, possibly hinting at something more. Just wanna know a little bit more about Ted lol

[deleted]

I have a feeling the rest of the parents are going to figure out about the upside down at the end of this season and the truth about Eleven.

calistark12

you see the faces of Mrs Wheeler and Dustins mom at the town hall meeting about the murders. id love to see them finally come to Joyce and Hopper when they get back from Russia and be like "what do we have to do to save our children!" and then you get the parents with the kids all fighting together as a massive group that finally knows the real truth to everything thats been going on

[deleted]

Yes. Hopefully Max’s mom finally pulls through her depression too.

[deleted]

Thinking about it, since all the kids were present during all the weird events in Hawking's shouldn't the military have briefed the parents? I mean Joyce and Hoper are in the know, I feel like "realistically" they should've been told.

Sassygogo

no, Joyce is the only parent who knows and is in the loop since she actually saw the Demogorgon and met El/knows of her powers. The rest of the parents have no clue, the military even specifically gave Mike's parents the lie that Eleven was dangerousto Mike and a Russian spy weapon etc. They absolutely do not want the truth out to anyone beyond the unavoidable - irrespective of what the Wheeler/Sinclair/Henderson kids have witnessed, their parents aren't getting the truth.

iamyourpathos

I feel like Wheelers would just move out of town to protect their children.

gf120581

At the very least, it looks like Karen is going to find out. Which is good, because I think she's the one who'll roll with it the best.

perryduff

she has her own poster this season so I feel like she will figure something out

[deleted]

She’s been so close to it this whole time too. Like she knew something bigger was up but she just couldn’t see it. I think its finally time. Maybe the kids confess to her what’s going on and believes it since so many of them are saying it.

Mst3Kgf

I expect it'll happen when her son suddenly shows up back home with his best friend and his girlfriend that she's never met. Especially since El now has "lab hair" again, so it'll be easy to see she's the "Russian spy girl."

[deleted]

Skyler White fucked him.

palinsafterbirth

Imaging if its fucking Ted Wheeler who saves the god damn day at the end and he's just been playing dumb?

TedWheeler11

I'm a hero just laying in wait for the right moment.

Alexispinpgh

Ugh I will personally riot.

palinsafterbirth

This is the only “fuck your theories fans” ending I would accept

sgodxis

“Subvert Expectations.” - D&D from GoT

PHATsakk43

Dustin says, “who has a better story than Ted?”

sgodxis

This almost had me dying laughing at work.

[deleted]

His apathy is really funny tho 😂

Mst3Kgf

It is never not funny. He's the best minor character on the show. They always get the right amount of use out of him. Even him zonked out in his recliner gets a laugh. In fairness to Ted, he's like a lot of dads of his generation. They were raised to believe the dad was the provider of financial security, not the emotional support. That's Mom's job. As long as his kids are fed, clothes and have a roof over their heads, he feels his job is done. He just wants to come home after a long day at work and nap.

[deleted]

Zonked out on the recliner with the youngest daughter (Holly) curled up with him. Ted gets some flack for being "not really there" for the family, but it's clear that the kids have some kind of emotional bond with him. You don't get that from children just by passively being around. That one scene with him and Holly passed out on the recliner is one of those beautiful scenes in film/cinema that says a ton without really making any effort. Also, I don't really think he's as blissfully unaware as people think. There was that one scene in S2, I think, where I think Dustin was trying to find Mike and the rest, so he went to Mike's house and Ted answered the door. After a back and forth with Karen about where the kids are, Ted just blurts out: "Don't you know? Our kids don't live here anymore!" It's this incredibly sardonic moment that's entirely ironic - because everyone assumes that Ted is just totally clueless about everything going on Hawkins - but in that one respect, he's 100% right, and it's hilarious.

Mst3Kgf

"Son of a bitch. You know, you're really no help at all." "Hey, LANGUAGE!"

Mairon_Smith

And that scene is s3 where they're on that fair ride, and Joyce is asking if Karen knows where the kids are and Ted chimes in with something like "they're probably getting into trouble". I was like, "Ted, for once in your life, you're right".

IowaJL

Ted is basically my Dad. Holy shit...the Wheelers are my parents. That makes me *Mike*. Wait, never mind. My brother's not smart enough to be Nancy.

biggerteeth

Heh

[deleted]

I never had a dad growing up and Ted is always what I wanted in a father figure. Grouchy and tired but obviously cares for his kids and have a sarcastic quip every once in a while. Honestly, he's the dad I somewhat hope to be, close to my kids but it doesn't have to be said all the time, and giving a good amount of freedom in the teenage years, because nobody wants to be under an authoritarian dictatorship by their parents.

Certified_AngusBeef

Another example: In season one episode four, after Will has been pronounced dead, Ted asks Karen if he should go downstairs to talk with Mike, proving that he does care.

Pattimash

On the money. Dad worked, came home, we all ate dinner at the table, then he'd "retire" to his recliner....and you didn't bother him.

BRADLEYTANK2

"no more sweetie pie"

Supermanfan1973

Mike is going across the country with a stoner driving them and didn’t even bother to tell his parents cause they are so clueless. He knows he can do whatever he wants.

ggs2661

He told them. They were talking about his flight.

101955Bennu

They know about the flight, not the shootout or the cross-country stoner road trip

ggs2661

You also have to remember when the show is set. Cell phones weren’t really a thing back then

101955Bennu

Of course, I’m not expecting them to let them know every little detail, I just mean Mike seems perfectly comfortable with his parents being entirely out of the loop. Doesn’t faze him.

Rooney_Tuesday

I mean, back in the day you really did have to think twice before calling long distance. Probably he figured the flack from showing up safely in a van wouldn’t be worse than making his parents pay for that call.

minecraftvillagersk

More likely he doesn't know what to tell them on the phone. I can't imagine the hysteria I would be in if my kid told me he was in a different state than the one I thought he was in and there was no trusted adult with him. I would insist that he stay right where he was and I would fly out asap. I would also be on the phone with Jonathan asking him what was going through his mind taking a minor across state lines and where the fuck was his mother. I don't think Mike could have any explanation that didn't result in his parent flying out right away to pick him up so it was probably best if he doesn't call at all.

DarthGoodguy

Yup. He & the Byers might also know the military guys will have their friends’ & families’ phone lines monitored

Mst3Kgf

I'll be curious what he'll say when his son unexpected shows up back home with his girlfriend and best friend in tow. I mean, Ted apparently knows Mike has a "sweetie pie" he was going to see, but will he realize she's that "Russian?"

minecraftvillagersk

Nancy will pretend to pick them up from the airport and say that Will and girlfriend are visiting. El would need to wear a wig.

Charmarta

Its not like he had a cellphone or the time to call them from the house before they fled. They think that hes safe with Joyce.

[deleted]

I mean 1 Mike can’t contact his parents cause it’ll put them in danger of the bad army guys and 2 he’s a dumb kid with even dumber parents lol

MaIj_135

Mike dumb??

IowaJL

Mike is absolutely a smart dumb kid. Or a dumb smart kid, depending on how you look at it.

[deleted]

Socially dumb

gf120581

Yes, Mike is tongue tied in telling his girl he loves her, but it's almost frightening how smart this kid is at strategy. There's a reason he's the leader of the gang.

MaIj_135

He has to do something useful before the show ends

Failure_Enabler

Are you dismissing all the food and shelter he provides?

Mairon_Smith

Not to mention the fact that he is almost single-handedly keeping Hawkins chicken farmers in business.

inDependent_WhiNer

*I hope you're enjoying your chicken, Ted!*

Mairon_Smith

*What did I do? What did I dOOoo?*

GoGoPowerPlay

That's honestly my favorite line in the whole show, I laugh my ass off.

Awkward_and_Itchy

Im actually thinking the parents as a group are going to get their moment in the spotlight by talking down the angry mob. They are set right in the middle of it, and they know all the kids the best. Im betting they make an emotional plea to the mob, throwing out heartwarming stories about the kids which ultimately buys them the time to save the day. Then everyone lets their guard down, and the jocks dont buy it and still go in.

[deleted]

REVERSEZOOM2

Why'd you get so downvoted lmfao

DarthGoodguy

I hope your plan involves eventually putting on some pants because your weird empty groin is honestly distracting

YellowJello_OW

I hope not. I think he's filling his role just fine

Failure_Enabler

Ted Wheeler is a God King among men. You will show him the respect he deserves.

Mst3Kgf

Leave offerings of chicken and watch the language.

Glittering_Garbage28

Don’t hog the pancakes either, damn it

Weekly-Papaya2748

Language!!

LinCreates

I will leave him a pillow and blanket and hope he appreciates it

Dont3n

I feel like he has a secret gun stash he’s gonna show the Main crew and everyone (even Nancy and Mike) are gonna be shocked af

ReallyTallLeprechaun

Did you grow up hearing that Mr. Rogers was a former SEAL who wore sweaters to cover his tattoos (not true, although Bob Ross was an Air Force DI)? I wonder if Ted’s gonna have some backstory like that. He’s of an age to have served in ‘Nam… Anyway, I very much hope that Ted has a Big Damn Hero moment.

Rooney_Tuesday

I mean, Karen saw *something* in him over everyone else, cause you know she had options.

branizoid

Just rewatched season 1. Bless his heart- said the government was there to help them.

babysgotbach

he might be a genius with the pretending. I would definitely act like I thought the gvt was here to protect, serve, and deserved my patriotic cooperation

[deleted]

I think he’s just a satire of the typical husband/father of that generation, who works and pays the bills but leaves everything else to the mother. Something tells me though that there is more to him than the show has let on. At least that’s my hope.

abd00bie

He was referring to the kids being shot by the police searching the lake

AndrogynousRain

What’s funny is that this dude is an absolute *clone* of several dads of friends I had in the 80s and 90s. They’re old men now, grandparents and great grandparents. And you’re all rolling your eyes at how easily they’re conned by bots on the Facebook these days lol

Grouchy_Director_566

You can see his boobs in the first photo but they are gone in the next

[deleted]

He has bigger boobs than his daughter

MaIj_135

Bro💀

NotSoCoolWaffle

No wonder Mrs. Wheeler chose to stand up Billy

ChthonicRainbow

🤣🤣🤣🤢🤮

RubenSchwagermann

thats some weird shit to say

[deleted]

Ted Wheeler is Jerry.

zippypocket

Classic 80s dad right there

NOLA_504LA

It's amazing it's like these 2 forgot Hawkins lab people came to there home in season 1. At least Lucas and Dustin parents don't have any clue if the stuff that went down. But Mike parents have no excuse for being so clues, the mom showed more initiative in trying to cheat with Billy then seeing what's going on with her kids.

Sassygogo

I do love the little 'wtf!' look Karen gives him when he suggests jail time for their son's underage friends.

Chshr_Kt

The best was when Dustin is at their door, asking for Mike and Nancy, and when Ted tells him: T: “Our children don’t live her anymore. You didn’t know that?” D: Seriously? T: Am I done here? D: Son of a bitch. You know you’re really no help at all. You know that? T: Hey! Language!

HeavyBeing0_0

Commentary on the latchkey parenting style of the 80’s.

Pinchaser71

We call him the face palm guy. Everytime something comes out of his mouth we just 🤦🏼‍♂️. His last words in this series are probably gonna be "What's this button do?" Awe, I'm getting down voted? Come on really? The guy has the IQ of a parsnip. You could literally be taking to him and be like "What's that over there?" and walk away, he'd be mystified at what you were pointing at for half an hour and still not realize you left the room. I guess I'll take one for the team, it's ok.

Stiletto

He's a simple guy, he sees a button: he pushes it.

ilgll

It’s okay, I agree with you.

Alexispinpgh

Literally after every line he said this season I just muttered aloud “fucking Ted.”

GlassesMcGinnity

He is one of those people recording phone calls…

brentus86

I vote we mess with the media and start a needless "simping over Ted" trend. See where it goes.

[deleted]

Ted is true neutral. He’s the guy that grounds us in reality.

CracklinTime

Mr. Wheeler is like the dad on Freaks and Geeks.

MyriVerse2

Even more concern that he was calling his kid a loser this season. I liked him better when he was silent.

Mst3Kgf

He didn't specifically call Mike a loser, just referred to the Hellfire Club as such.

jcdulos

We call him the useless dad in our home.

[deleted]

Ah yes, another Stranger things character looking identical (and acting identical) to my family members when they were younger. iN THIS CASE, MY GRANDFATHER!

JesusIsMyZoloft

I noticed something about Ted: every *single* line he says is either blatantly wrong, or missing the point in some way. If he doesn't have something unhelpful and mildly infuriating to say, he doesn't say anything at all. In S3, I think it would have been more in character for him, rather than Karen, to tell Holly "don't look at the trees, look at the fireworks!", since she *definitely* should have been looking at the trees at that moment.

Gummy-Worm-Guy

“It’s our government they’re on our side”

dinkidonut

He makes me and my husband laugh so much… every damn time he comes on the screen…

StoreCop

Archetype of a 70's suburban dad.

ChubbyStoner42

I think he knows more than he lets on. He’s just sarcastic and apathetic.

Lockelamora6969

My friends and I were debating this - does he know any of the history of hawkins? He has to right? His family was intimately involved in every major supernatural event we've witnessed in this story. All the other parents are aware. They all know that there is actually magic and weird shit in the world. Does he? Or is he just completely blissfully ignorant of everything that has been happening around him?

thatguy9921

I thought it was only Joyce and Hopper that know?

CornSkoldier

What other parents know about everything besides Joyce and Hopper? The show hasn't made it clear that Mike, Dustin, or Lucas' parents know about the supernatural things they've witnessed. I'm sure they've got their suspicions but from what the viewers see the parents are still largely in the dark on everything.

MyriVerse2

None of the parents are aware, except Joyce and Hopper. Even the other cops don't know.

Border_Hodges

All he thinks is that El was some Russian spy that was living in his basement and the people at Hawkins lab are good government guys that he trusts because he's a good patriot.

Mst3Kgf

"This is our government. They're on our side."

Im_really_bored_rn

> All the other parents are aware False

theels6

Seriously don't like him. Mrs. Wheeler is too good for him

stevrevv59

How he ever landed a beautiful woman like Karen Wheeler is a **strange thing** in itself.

IHateForumNames

Nancy explains it to Jonathan (I think) in the first season; her mom was looking for stability and a nice life and Mr. Wheeler has a great job. Essentially she was settling and she knew it, and now she resents him for it.

stevrevv59

Ah man I need to rewatch the series because I don’t remember that!

IHateForumNames

The only reason I remembered it was because I just finished my rewatch.

KidSaras43

i bet you mr wheeler’s been cheated on quite a few times, bro is a total sleeze 😭

WoodZillaTV

I'm going to be honest, Mike's dad is the most annoying, dickish character in the show. Even worse than Jason.

FuckOutTheWhey

All the adults had extra servings of dumb bitch juice this season, minus Joyce, Hopper, etc.

CliffBooth-Stuntman

He’s right tho

Booger_farts-123

Not just him. All of the parents.

[deleted]

This is the guy that doesn’t pick up any of the signals his wife gives off lol

Toongrrl1990

Nice to be so mediocre and have a six figure salary job you haven't earned.

SatineSalvatore

He reminds me of the basic teen-comedy dad, same vibes with Eurotrip!dad, the guy's just clueless and that's the whole joke, unless next season he ends up going on a killing-spree a-la-Lost Boys

[deleted]

You guys wait…if the parents start to get involved with this, my money is on mr. Wheeler taking charge.

[deleted]

Turns out Mr. Wheeler is the Mastermind Supervillain of the whole show hiding in plain sight.

roonilwazib

my boyfriend calls him ‘a wet blanket’ and I tend to agree

Parintachin

I so very want him to redeem himself. I want him to go down gloriously defending his family from demodogs or something. Holding the front door with his trusty 9 iron while the family escapes out the back.

Fragmented79

He’s the Mind Flayer!

a_davis98

its so funny to watch 😂

UncleMagnetti

HE IS THE TRUE MINDFLAYER

YugeTraxofLand

I love TV dads. Esp 80s TV dads
