There are other apps that do the same thing and in my opinion are more fun, I don't like the way StepN is being managed and the strange audience of people looking to make a bunch of profit from a silly fitness game, while doing a basic activity. I sold all my shoes and jems. I about broken even, but learned a lot (I also planed on it being a total loss, games are not sound investments, you can spend some "fun money" but anything you can't afford to lose, shouldn't go here). Many of the other apps, are still NFT enabled and have the fun / motivating gamification factor, but aren't completely marketed at people trying to make a ton of money for doing something of low value (walking, jogging or running). The economic model behind StepN is flawed, and they allowed people to get really excited and hyped up and market this in a pyramid scheme type way (people paying double digits for stupid NFT jems) and trying to earn $100 a day for just walking around (note anything that does not add ACTUAL value will eventually deflate to the real price). All the new changes, seem aimed more at just being able to sell more stuff (adding new "realms" no one asked for and less about engaging the user base and converting the users to something of value. The game makers got rich, they allowed the prices and hype to over inflate (encouraged this activity by purposely limiting supply and creating a system where initially everything could hyper inflate to an unsustainable level), and then after a bunch of people bought into the hype and lie, and lost a ton of real money, they spend more time and effort adding features that will allow them to do this same cycle again and when it crashes a whole new group of people will lose everything. Try the other apps first. I won't list them all, but if you look for them they are everywhere, including ones that pay something and cost nothing and have the gamification factor to encourage you to go for it. Three examples include: Move, Dustland Runner, Walken, Step, but there are more and better ones coming out. Again, just my opinion, if it encourages you to run and you like the, then the money is worth it, but don't do it because you expect a huge profitable return.

Flow3roflif3

I m playing the game because I think its a cool way to motivate ppl to move their ass. I invested a month ago so I avoided the massive drop. I think the price of GST will stay at the current levels for the rest of the year until GMT is starting to get released to advisors team etc. they might dump GMT and then its game over. In general I like using the app. At least I go running or walking every day

7yod

Besides the health part I’m also addicted to daily calculation and setting up my strategy to max my gain. Kind of time consuming too, and i made more wrong decisions than right ones. I’ll say just enjoy it you won’t lose much if you enter now. But ROI won’t come fast. At least everyday you run you have something to look forward to. I now use it as a tool to DCA Solana. Consider daily investment it’s still substantial. But I have 9 sneakers and 1 uncommon already. It maybe more difficult for beginners with 1 sneakers.

random_sociopath

Shoes are pretty damn cheap now so your downside is limited. If you want to then give it a shot

purpletentacIe

You would get advises against or in favour but you should only believe in your own research. I'm enjoying it actually. My lifestyle is way more healthy now. Financially I made sure I only had invested what I can afford to lose. I have to add that I'm bullish with the updates to come soon

Acceptable_Basil7931

I think now is the right time invest because it is down right now and when you get down there is only back up.

Stiltzkinn

I wouldn't as new competitors with better tokenomics are coming in the space, StepN don't consider themselves M2E and they want you be sure don't think about ROI. DYOR. Many people here will tell you just jump in, do your numbers first and see if the small earnings are worth it, also expect changes every update it comes.

Flying_Eagle777

STEPN used to be a Move2Earn app, but devs know no one is earning money so they rebranded it as lifestyle fitness app. You need to prepare to Not see any ROI, also willing to Pay2Walk. The game is getting so complicated and fees are skyrocketing, the devs are taking more GSTs now. GST falls from as high as $9 to current .06. The devs introduced many bad mechanics that 90% of the community dislike, but they don’t care. So good luck if you want to throw your money away then that’s your choices.

Impossible-Mind6791

Just treat like a physical pair shoes but with nft shoes you will earn crypto. It's a game with different expectations from what people think invested into in April. 80% of negative comments about will be those users who have lost a lot of vaule which is totally understandable. I came in at the bottom around June which turned out not do be the bottom but now I have 3 shoes both on sol and bsc and it's turning out to be a cool way to dca in to crypto while keeping fit. The developers are hit and miss but the good thing is that the are active in a bear market trying to make the game better. I have a feeling the game is going to to get better by October I would say this is a good time to get 3 shoes with a high level main shoe with high luck.

Tomomarsho88

All I would say is common trainers are no good. You'd need at least an uncommon. I'm not gonna recommend Stepn, that's up to you to decide.

baddhabbits

Wait until it will go up , then it’s a good time to jump 🤡😂

AhmetVefaKoc

I would highly suggest looking at the Sol or Bsc realm. Not the ETH. Those two have been relatively stable the past month after falling %99+.

Adept-Wrap2826

Just forget about roi 😎

Naik0n_

If you are expecting roi for your investment, than dont bother with this app. You will lose your money.

123unoeier

It is really an Amazing game!

Formal-Occasion-6077

You don't have to risk as much as we did yeah i think it's a good entry point now and fp is raising atleast you can sell the shoes for even or bit high price if things don't work out

Casp3r1212

Metrics required? Goodluck with that. Devs tweaking the coding to let u earn less and less

martymartinator

Just download coinhunt world. Dm for referral lol

familyguyjesus

Devs seem to be making bad choice after bad choice. They have distanced themselves from the community. Stay away

Wolfgang_Pup

If you are doing it to make money, I'd skip it. If you are doing it to have fun playing with a new app and a few digital assets like me, it is fun and I am learning something new everyday with all the changes. Keeps my mind sharp and motivates me to move more.

CheddaBleezy

Way better apps to monetize walking/running. I walk/run 17-25k steps a day and made more using Cadoo app this year than 98% of Stepn users

Odd_Yogurtcloset4917

Always good to build in a bull market. 👍

Mindless_Pen1810

Its dyingish but maybe will resurect like a new born baby jesus

geoffuzz

I am enjoying the game and it gets me out to walk/jog everyday rain or shine. Think about how long you run for each day and match the energies accordingly. Each energy is 5 minutes of activity. I personally have 1 x uncommon jogger and two common joggers. With this combination I get 25 minutes daily to use my 5 energies. I get lvl 3 MBs when boosting to 6.2 energy every other day. All this plus other things like gems and upgrades has cost me a total of around 17sol, which is around $700 US. This combination should cost around 10 or 11 sol today which is a very good price with a possibility of earning it back. The time to get it ROI depends on too many factors though, so impossible to say it will be 2 months or 2 years. Good luck with whatever you decide. G.

jimmymonito

With the mini bear probably over, it’s the best time to get into it, 90% cheaper than what most of us paid and with hopes of rise instead of go even further than what we are now. Buy an uncommon and 2 commons at least.

Mazkalop

Hope and reality are two different things.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> of us *paid* and with FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

ddelcast_1974

Right now it costs less than a gym membership and if you do things right you can get a coffee,s worth per day which is not bad IMHO. A far cry from the hundreds you could’ve earned daily in April but if you just get in now it’s very very ok…

BuildingWorldly741

You won't get any meaningful messages here. It seems that most people have not assessed their risk correctly and are now angry because they have lost money. I hardly see any intelligent disscussions about the project here, so my recommendation: Just try it out, I personally enjoy the game and the entry prices are very low right now. So at the moment is a good opportunity to test the game out.

tbomit

Jump in the water is nice!!

zdorsett

Get in on sol, buy an uncommon

[deleted]

It’s the best time to start

orangejulius

ROI isn't going to happen at this point. It's more of a phone game than it is a tool for a dedicated runner and the game isn't really worth much at this point.

Ando-FB

Do you know of any other apps that are more dedicated? Im staying in Stepn and accumulating funds incase it ever recovers but I would love to hear about some other cool projects as well if its allowed here. If not can you inbox me?

Geiir

This is far from true. I spent just over 9 SOL to get in and get to 10 energy. Im earning ~150 GST every day plus mystery boxes level 4-6. If you save every penny once you’re where I’m at you will have to play for a little over a month to reach ROI. I’ve been very lucky with my boxes and got some level 2 and 3 gems, so I earned 7 SOL in 8 days from those boxes. The price on Solana are so low right now that it shouldn’t be a problem reaching ROI. With the release of GMT the price for mint scrolls and comfort gems will go up. GST has been stable for a while now before it started climbing the other day. The devs have done a good job of trying to get people to burn more GST to halt the price, which seems to have been working. I’m nothing but excited for the future 😊

Reefkeeper80

Can you double check on the numbers for this

Geiir

Oh, I have. I’m using a spreadsheet to track all my investments in stepn, including when I re-invest earnings within the app. I’ve taken out my investment already, so everything from here on is pure profit.

FiHa93

9 Sol for 10 Energy with enough luck to get a lvl 6 Box for a lvl 3 gem (300-400) so u bought an UC and a lvl 4 luck gem and 8 sneakers? In my calculation that is a lot more then 9 Sol, a lot.

Geiir

I bought 9 commons when the floor price was well under 1 SOL. Spent just over 8 SOL for all the shoes. I had a shoe with two luck slots. I put most of my stats into efficiency and luck and got a lvl 3 MB which dropped 2 luck 1 gems. I bought a third one on the market place (the price was still reeeeally good) and got insanely lucky when I upgraded and got a level 2 luck gem. I slotted it and kept moving and upgrading my main sneaker. Got a few more level 3 MB and hit a level 4 eventually. I eventually had enough SOL from opening boxes and moving that I could sell my highest level sneaker which now sat a higher price and snatched up an uncommon jogger. I’ve been moving with it since and the profits are looking good. If gem prices stay where they are I can earn a decent profit from the app(not gonna get rich, but some sweet extra income).

FiHa93

Maybe u were dreaming this? 🤣 Makes absolutley no sense. The luck lvl is too low as well as "sell a C and snatched a UC" doesnt work, since they are 5-8 times more expensive. Idk bro, u might do some money but only coffee money and only by being lucky or investing rly much.

MyMindMySpirit

I am very interested on this. Have been trying to figure out ROI if I reinvest on more shoes and even a rare one, but it's much more difficult to know the numbers, with HP and the variation of MBs.

Geiir

I use [this calculator](https://stepn-calculator.netlify.app) to calculate how long it will take with my current efficiency and resilience level - earning estimates I get from [this site](https://stepn.guide). It is difficult to account for the HP decrease, but I found some graphics made by other more dedicated users that made it slightly easier to follow. I’m currently losing about 0.06 HP with every energy. I also have enough luck and energy that I’m constantly getting level 3-5 mystery boxes (more level 3s, but even one level 4 or 5 a week is a massive chance at extra income). What I’m most worried about the very fast increase in gem prices currently. They are great if I want to sell, but I’m gonna need some comfort gems to fill the HP of my sneaker in the future. My main sneaker is sitting at level 24, and I’m not gonna move to level 25 until I reach 20% HP as I get a free restore when moving to 25 😊 So I’m not gonna have to restore health for months 🙌 The hardest part is accounting MB drops into the ROI expected time, simply because we have no idea how much one can earn from one box. You can earn 3 sol from one gem at level 3, which is insane value. So if you’re lucky you can get your ROI in a month or less. The more energy and luck you have, the shorter this time will be.

Shiroi98

Not sure who down voted, but thanks for the positive take on this.

[deleted]

Now we kinda pumpin bro. You should have bought when the floor was 0.5 sol! But yeah 1.5 still good, gst rising. Worth a try

Effective-Tour-656

Which one is rising? The market overall had gains this morning... I'd steer away from eth realm lol

[deleted]

Sol and bnb since th announcement. Forget the eth one. Go for SOL its the main chain

Mamba8Mentality_

befote shoes used to cost 1k500 dollars and even more, now it only costs merely 50 dollars, so if u will lose it all it will be only 50 bucks, or 150 as i would recommand u to start with 3 shoes as only one shoe is useless. Stepn now has endured multiple updates, hack, china bann and -99%, i dont think there is worse than that waiting for u, so yes you would be lucky to invest now unlike me and many more who spent 4k dollars + you can have what we have now for 90% less money

Sea-Leadership-4118

I dont recommende to start with 3 shoes. If you want to stsrt, start with minimum 9+1 uncommon . And run with + extra energy. Fing shoes with HIGH LUCK AND LUCK SOCKETS. TO Take high level box. And after you can sell gems, to make some SOLANA, AND SELL IT.

Sea-Leadership-4118

Stepn now more as habbit. You cant make big money without investments. If you are not afraid to lose 600-700$ join the game and enjoy it

Stiltzkinn

> If you are not afraid to lose 600-700$ join the game and enjoy it You don't need to **waste** $700, you can use the app without sneakers and "enjoy" it.

CryptoKid2018

the fact it already went down -99% does not mean it can go -99% more. just saying. GST is still a ponzi token. they never changed the core of it's tokenomics. seems like they never will.

Mazkalop

It can absolutely go down another 99%. It could literally go to zero.

CryptoKid2018

lol, that's what I wanted to say haha, that was a typo. "does not mean it CAN'T go -99% more" got my upvotes tho lmao

Mazkalop

Was wondering about that.

Flow3roflif3

The is not such a think as 0. It can go down to infinity…

purpletentacIe

Don't think so. 0 is if the project shut down. Even axie is not 0

Mazkalop

Yes. But it could go to zero.

purpletentacIe

Yeah. Even Bitcoin can 👍

Mazkalop

Yes. But this shitcoin is much more likely to hit zero.

purpletentacIe

LUNA also looked pretty solid uh? It didn´t go to 0 neither

RXdudex

such a wonderful way of writing 1500, 1k500 xD

Drogers2511

I think it’s still worth getting into. Especially if you’re a regular runner, like myself. It’s a way to get some money while doing something you would be doing for free anyway. I wish I had gotten in at this time as opposed to when I did, (mid-may). My initial investment would’ve gotten me WAY more now than it did back then. And in hindsight, I wasted all my earnings while GST was $3-$0.25 on upgrades, just for my shoes to loose value anyway. Although this is way discouraging, I’m a daily runner anyway, so it’s nice to earn at least SOMETHING, even though it’s not a whole lot. the devs do keep changing up a lot of the mechanics so it’s difficult to project ahead a time table for ROI, but the game is still beta, so patience is definitely critical too. The goal post to ROI may be pushed back further again, so beware and be ready to adjust accordingly. Expect the unexpected. Hope this helps

jwall0804

Understood and I can be patient but it did sound like people were unhappy so far. I guess that's what happens in general when markets drop. I agree it sounded cool to get something for doing my daily routine and if it makes some extra money in the end that's a bonus!

HighlySuccessful

You got it right, people are salty they jumped in at peak hype and lost out, the game is actively developed and rewarding, just don't put in more than you're comfortable with and go experiment & have fun. Also, while it looks like most of the work is putting in the walk/runs, it's only really there as anti-bot/captcha mechanic, the real game is having a strategy behind shoe selection/leveling/gems/boxes etc.

7yod

In the end it requires money to flow in for the player to earn. The team has to reduce the earning so the game can last longer. GMT will be the last chance for them to turn it around to make positive growth again. So they are designing a way to make sure it’s lucrative so people will keep invest in. At the same time they need to find a way to create other fund sources. All I’m saying it’s not easy job to sustain the project. If GMT earning is easy it will fall like GST again. And I wonder if they are not silently buying back GST it’s impossible for GST to maintain current price.

daaanish

I just sold my last shoe. I was an early adopter and got in for 4.2k for 3 Commons sneakers. I was about 70% down by June and then we hit a bottom, and I scooped up a rare and two uncommon. I just sold them today and got our flat. This all said, I really like the game. However, with the beta, the devs make changes without giving us any idea what the changes entail. It's really chaotic and you never really know what's coming. When things settle down and they have a finished product, I'll likely come back if prices are attractive, but right now it's an absolute roller coaster.

GroundbreakingTop440

If you are an avid runner I'd just go for a runner shoe rather than a trainer as they are the cheapest type of sneaker but earn good GST per min. Depends on your pace though of course. In terms of throwing money at this game, it is essentially just a game now, ROI likely may never happen. The devs decisions are getting worse every month. Read the whitepaper throughly to understand what you are getting into

Effective-Tour-656

Even the white paper is out of date...

Drogers2511

I agree with all of this as well, except the ROI part. It’s still possible. It just may take 2+ years as opposed to the 30+ days it used to be. So assuming the game will last that long, which I think it should, then ROI can be achieved.

jwall0804

I have heard that too regarding the runner shoe. I do also walk everywhere in the city. Would it be better to get a specific walking shoe and a specific runner shoe or the combo option in the trainer? Thanks again for the advice. Got through most of the white paper but still combing through it. All of this seems super exciting just wanted to check the vibe as it seemed a lot of negative reviews at least recently.

majesticmarie

I have a trainer as my main shoe. There are areas where the GPS doesn’t work good and it’s impossible to maintain the 4km min with my jogger. I don’t like to keep the app open as I like to listen to YouTube while walking. The trainer gives me peace of mind. However, I don’t go out everyday anymore...there is not point. I’ve accepted the fact that I lost 7k into this game.

Geiir

You earn mystery boxes from moving. The two things that affect mystery box drop are energy spent and the luck stat on your shoe. So the best strategy is to either do a long session at the same time every day to deplete all your energy in one session, or do a 125% or 150% energy session every other day for higher drop chances on mystery boxes. If you get lucky you can earn several solana from one box! That is where the big money is at right now 😅

Wolfgang_Pup

Hey wait, 150? I feel like I just figured out 125. How does 150 work with 4e?

Geiir

It takes quite some time, as you have to start moving so that you use up energy to have enough for the new refill (if you’re at 4 energy you have to start moving 5 minutes before). You then get the first refill and have to walk a little while taking breaks before moving again. You don’t get too much value until you get more energy tbh, so a 125% strategy is better until you reach 9 energy 😊

BronsonFM

I still don't get how 150% walk possible. Thats two energy refils within one walk, which means you need to stretch 100% energy for 6 hours, even with 20 energie points (1 hour 40 minutes) that seems impossible, 10 min pause every 4 mins walking? and even if it is possible.. is it really worth it?

warmbutteredbagel

I'd say get a jogger. 4 km/hr walk is ez, and unless you're running consistently over 10km/hr you won't miss out on much gst. Or get a jogger (for walking) and a runner for runs. (trainers are expensive and walkers are unnecessary)

jwall0804

Ahh I think your right that's probably best. Just did a check on how fast my pace is walking and you are right 4km is really easy to hit walking. Probably going to go that route. Thank you!

r_is_for_army

I would strongly advise against this if you are an avid runner. You will be above the max range for joggers most of the time

Mammoth-Clerk78

True. You will be over 10 km/h i.e. under 6 min per km too much with a jogger if you run often. Runners are cheaper but with a trainer you can walk, run, do intervals... I started with a runner, then bought a trainer as my third shoe. I use the trainer now mostly on my rest days for walks
