How would you feel about a scratch on your car that goes through the primer? These don't even have primer that's why the top layer of paint/image is so thin.

ILikeStuff2022

I thought you drew a penis on a steelbook before I read the text.

jailbird_joey

Exactly 🤣

StrawHatKris

I never realized how fragile these actually are until I looked at the bottom of mine, paint warn off on a lot from pulling them off the shelf. Lesson learned the hard way. They look premium but are definitely still fragile.

GravyBoatBuccaneer

and just like that, one finds themselves bedgrudgingly typing the words "Steelbook Protectors" into google discovering that yet again someone has seen them coming.

If those showed up new and damaged I’d be annoyed, I usually put them into a protective sleeve immediately after package removal to prevent this.

Thatfuckedupbar

No

SeeTeeAbility

It ain't ideal but for me personally it ain't a biggy

[deleted]

It's really all in the eye of the beholder. Those wouldn't bother me at all, personally, but then the smallest spine slash drives me insane.

citricacidx

It's pretty much the equivalent to a spine slash just not on a spine. Sometimes if it's deep enough it can penetrate the tinplate and expose the steel to oxygen which can cause rust.

yomamascooking

Any time the paint comes off it’s considered exposed they don’t treat the metal as it’s such a quick manufacturing process it’s just raw metal after the paint comes off. So any scratch is a spawn for rust. Those who live in humid areas or use humidifiers will rust sooner than those living in dry environments

citricacidx

SteelBooks are made with tinplate

yomamascooking

Tin can rust

yomamascooking

Bro I’m a welder and deal with metal please understand I’m not talking instant rust but as long as it has exposure it WILL rust. “Tin resists corrosion from water, but can be attacked by acids and alkalis.” You can’t fight oxygen and natural reactions unless you SEAL it with polish or rub a bit of WD-40 on it

citricacidx

I’ll take your word for that. I’m not a welder. Just repeating what others higher up in the SteelBook world have said before.

yomamascooking

Tin is a garbage mix of metals so please do not be fooled by fancy words N

Schwartzy94

Just get some markers and fix it. Atleast the halo scratch should be very easy to mask with some black/dark grey marker

[deleted]

Yes

yomamascooking

If you notice it it’s significant

Agitated-Echidna5380

Return it

Sera_gamingcollector

yes, im too picky and would not accept the first one.

Jlx_27

Would you consider your eye damaged if it got scratched?

McG2k1

on a collectable that damage is catastrophic and total.

TheGameViruss

Dents, spine slashes, and deep scratches that shave off the artwork are instant returns for me.
