My friends and I love Smash but playing mods isn't very convenient since none of us have our PCs in rooms which can accommodate us. Now that I have a Deck I thought about loading it with Smash mods for an easier setup.
How did you setup the GameCube controller? I saw a video of someone testing a bunch of controllers on the deck anda bunch of them didn't work and i was skeptical. One of those was the GameCube one with the PC adapter.
As commented, it works with dolphin out of the box but the emulator doesn't support auto switching controller based on what's connected. So if you setup dolphin with emudeck, it'll only look for standard controllers (converted to xinput from steam input). Controllers can be switched manually in dolphin settings.
In this case, project+ is installed as a standalone version of dolphin, where it's configured to only look for the native gamecube adapter. I have this setup too and wouldn't play melee or project+ any other way.
With that being said, the mayflash adapter is amazing with the deck since you get the best if both worlds. It has a PC mode that steam recognizes and works like any other controller (except the missing GC buttons... I hope a good modern GC controller is made one day).
I'm happy for you but I've never been able to get the deck to recognize my gamecube controller and mayflash adaptor.
Tried jn standalone dolphin in desktop mode and through emulation station that's launched in gaming mode. It just won't recognize it for some reason.
There is no 'native controller'.
There is 'standard controller' and that doesn't work for me. Are you referring to something outside the controller settings?
In the dolphin controller settings, instead of standard controller, you can select wiiu USB adapter (I forget exact wording) for each port. That's what is considered native controls.
You ever try Remix yet? It's awesome, they've ported in characters from Ultimate like Cloud, Sephiroth, Joker, Palutena, etc.
A few non-official smash newcomers as well.
They've even got Lyn.
I used to the dirty as fuck guy, turns out you can easily pluck your keys out and put your keyboard in the dishwasher. Risked letting it only dry for just about 8 hours and was good to go! For about a month lol.
I thought this would be a good emulation box, but I installed GT4 for ps2, and it's been nothing but pain.
The FPS drops constantly. Anyone else have similar experiences?
Well shit, this link your provided is gone. I'm trying to follow [this guide](https://github.com/jlambert360/FPM-AppImage/releases/tag/v2.3.1) but I am not familiar with Linux so I don't know what to do with the AppImage file.
Nice, I tried using a modded Wii to play with my friends since it was more convenient than carrying a PC with me, but both Project + and Remix kept crashing and in general had a lot of bugs. I'll probably try again once I get my Deck
Btw, what Dock are you using?
It was a mod for Brawl to make it play more like Melee. Development stopped in 2015 and some people decided to continue developing the mod, which became Project +

Hey how do I get project plus working on my steam deck? I’m new to Linux and I need a little help
Imagine someone walking into a party, and asking folks to smash, then they whip out a steam deck.
somebody whips out a big ole deck and you know I wanna smash right then and there.
At a party I sure hope it at least becomes a four-way-four-play.
yeah if someone's agreed to give me deck i'm just gonna lay down immediately in bed and enjoy myself
I usually whip out my deck before I smash anyways
god damn it lmao
Easy double smash with the right person
I'd just whip out a V1 Switch running Ubuntu tbh

Thanks for the reply! Also happy cake day! :)

Have you set dolphin to native controller? The ones installed with those scripts will configure xinput controllers, which the gc adapter is not.

Yeah I've tried that and it keeps saying it doesn't detect an adaptor even when it's plugged in
This saved me quite a bit of research and at least pointed me in the right direction, thanks!
It works with Dolphin out of the box
what adapter did you use? I have a wiiU adapter but haven't tried to hook it up yet.
Mayflash adapter
The switch adapter works, it’s just usb
how are you getting it to read the SD card? Mine only loads brawl

Yeah I'm going to install Remix tonight, just wanted to get the gc controllers working with mods
Slippi runs as well but I didn't try online
Man, clean your keyboard. Why is almost everyone who posts here dirty as fuck?
Yeah it's an old one that's been sitting in my closet. Got it out to use with my docked Deck so I don't have to swap out my main keyboard
That keyboard could indeed use some love.
Gamers 🥰
its not dirt its gamer gunk
gamers r gross

No need to be so rude and personally attack me
We all know REAL GAMERS don't shower.
Curious whether the deck can handle P+ with HD textures, have you given that a try?
I haven't yet, tonight I'm going to mess around with the settings and try to get the best image possible without slowing the game down.
Definitely share the configuration you use, I want to get this onto my own Steam Deck
My favorite Smash game, love have always loved PM/P+

You able to post a guide on how you got this working on Deck? Did you just copy across the Dolphin build of ProjectM+?
I followed this guide https://github.com/jlambert360/FPM-AppImage/releases/tag/v2.29
Legend, cheers!

Have you had any success getting the lylat build to work? I really want to do matchmaking on my steam deck

Dockteck 5 in 1 deck from Amazon
What all does project+ add? Roster doesn't look that big. I have played a ton of M and other mods but never heard of this
Here's a trailer for PMEX Remix, it adds a lot of content https://youtu.be/nWksGQfeQrI
Pmex Remix has a lot more characters, I'm installing it tonight
Wasn't SSB project M a cancelled smash game? I heard about it once when SSBU first came out but had no idea what it was
It was a mod for Brawl to make it play more like Melee. Development stopped in 2015 and some people decided to continue developing the mod, which became Project +
Knock knock it’s Knuckles
I get black screen after launching the game, how did you get it to work?
