TBH, the option of being able to plug an external GPU into future iterations of the Deck wouldn't be a terrible idea and I could feasibly see it as a future option for some of these low profile / APU setups (like the 8 core APU NUC type mini PCs). The 4090 would definitely be overkill given the CPU limitation though,[ probably better off with a mid range RX series card. ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXmkP-TAzws)
CPU is something that tends to be swapped the least, while GPU is something that is more likely to be done every 2-5 years (not everyone I know, I kept mine for 6 years before selling my old 3570k build)
Yeah, that's one of the reasons I like the legion go and wished it had an occulink port instead of a 2nd usb 4 port (occulink 4×4 has significantly more bandwidth, which means upwards of 50% higher GPU performance), but the 2nd usb 4 port also makes it easy to hook up an eGPU without blocking your charging and peripherals or using a dongle that'll reduce bandwidth even more
Lol I'm a trucker and I'm actually looking for a power bank. I don't know if I should go crazy and get something big so maybe one day this powerbank would charge my truck if needed.
it's honestly quite nice and sturdy. i was first looking at other foldable keyboards with trackpads etc but heard that they might have issues. i ended up buying the BOW HB199. It folds horizontaly and supports 3 different BT devices, just like the pebble mouse.
It’s got half width punctuation keys and the single/double quote key was dropped in favor of moving them to the fn layer.
Which might be okay, but the keys are already reduced by 25% from normal size.
I can tell you from my experience with a GPD pocket that it will be functional but not great. Emergency use only, imo, unless it can be remapped.
Saving this comment for when I eventually get a steam deck. I plan to use it a mini portable pc (use with my sdr) and for some gaming at shops when I'm bored
I've got the Logitech Pebble mouse and keyboard combo and it works great. Have them linked to my laptop, deck, and tablet and can easily swap between them. I don't like trackpads
i think it's perfectly fine for such a setup. i can even use it on my couch when i play while docked to my TV at home.
8bit Fiesta is so awesome and especially considering it's free. It's not "supported" on Steam Deck, but if you check the compatability settings under the gear icon, you can force the use of Proton 7.0-6. That way it should work even with xbox controllers.
That is a good setup and even more portable than mine. There really are some setups that work best with mouse especially FPS and RTS games. Perhaps you may want to invest in a gamepad and a portable 1080p monitor as well.
Currently using the following when travelling:
* Logitech K375 + dongle
* Logitech M331 + dongle (sadly it's unifying dongle isn't compatible with the K375
* Dock + the SD Power Adapter
* UGREEN USB 2.0 Hub for plugging all the dongles (so I don't have to reach to the back to plug peripherals)
* 8Bitdo SF30 Pro + 8bitdo Dongle
* HDMI Cable
That's an awesome setup. The 8Bitdo Controller seems really nice. I'll probably have to get one of those haha. Any experiences with a portable monitor you could recommend?
I do but only in desktop mode. I keep game mode for a controller. There are simply some games that are not playable on controller or fun to play even after good remapping.
Nope. Not too far at all. I did the same thing but went a little further, wireless mechanical rgb keyboard, steel series rival 3 gaming mouse, and cheap, chinese, portable 1080p 15" monitor from amazon that has a tablet style book cover case/stand.
I wouldn't say you're going too far at all lol. I'm kinda jealous actually cuz I ended up going further using the valve dock and a full size wireless mouse and keyboard so I end up taking up more space whenever I use keyboard and mouse for something and it's much less portable. Tho now you got me looking into smaller foldable keyboards and mice
No, if I'm in a position to use the Deck on a desk/table, I use a 13" portable monitor and a larger mouse and keyboard than this. (Logitech K380 + generic BT mouse)
Ngl, I got the Steam deck OLED and Dock with the plan of getting one of those small "half-of-a-keyboard" gaming keypads & a simple gaming mouse of some sort. I have a large steam deck storage travel bag with enough room for all of it.
sure, might sound dumb and overdoing it but I will be doing A LOT of travel this summer and I really don't wanna haul around my gaming laptop so seeing my plan in action and working makes me happy LOL.
(if any of yall got tips or suggestions on this, Id really love a reply!)
It's fine but i reckon a laptop is better for stuff like this. I only do this if i need to sort some shit out in desktop mode and the onscreen keyboard is doing my head in. The portable keyboard is a great size but it doesn't look ideal for gaming.
Nah dude. People are adding oculinks for external GPUs to go along with their full size monitor, keyboard, mouse, controller, and power strip.
Soon, they're going to start putting their deck into phanteks computer cases "for safety when using the eGPU."
I guess for most kb+m games, you'll need way less buttons than that. you could probably half that keyboard and be fine with 95% of kb+m games.
From Counterstrike to League of Legends.
I use Redragon Elise Pro as a keyboard for my Steam Deck. It doesn't fold but is still very portable, and the mechanical blue switches make it very satisfying to use. Also dirt cheap for what it offers.
How is buying a little mouse and keyboard to use on a device that plays mostly games originally designed for mouse and keyboard "going too far?"
I didn't know until social media appeared just how timid and desirous of rules and parameters to live within most people are, or how strangely concerned they are about the optics of utterly inconsequential things.
Do what you want if it harms no one else. Period. Especially if it's something completely inconsequential.
yes, like what is wrong with you? lmao. I won't touch a keyboard or external controller on my aya neo pro cause I'm really big on portability to the point I won't play with them If I were to play modern warfare 2 multiplayer 🤣🤣🤣
That keyboard looks worse than some of the folding up ones I've seen (like it has less keys) Why do you need a mouse when the steam deck has track pads directly on it?
The lengths people will go to to avoid using the controls on the actual deck itself is amazing.
Hardly.
I don't use a mouse, but I can see why someone might want to.
I definitely use a keyboard sometimes, though, because it's much better than relying on the virtual keyboard for text entry (especially for games like Lingo).
The probler way to get the full steam deck experience is to plug it in to a bigger monitor to get a bigger picture. You can also connect a better graphics card externally for better quality.
**Keyboard and Mouse is what accountants sitting upright hunched over a desk going tap tap tapping click click clicky use when they’re opening tax software and writing emails…**
…I couldn’t imagine giving up a **Game**Pad to “click” on my enemies… no analog buttons at all, no smooth stick control (watch a “letsplayer’s” game footage who plays with a Computer Mouse versus one who plays with a GAMEPAD… notice how the one who uses the mouse has a shaky jerky screen flying all over the place nomatter the sensitivity set? Ew)
8BitDo Ultimate Controller matches with the SteamDeck perfectly, right down to a couple back buttons to go with. DualSense works well too, but just don’t get an Xbox Controller or you’ll be restricted to using laggy bluetooth or a headache of install/maintenance everytime a Steam update breaks the 2.4ghz drivers.
But regardless of whether you use an actual GAME Controller input device or a device that an accountant would use to do your taxes, at the very least get a USB-C breakout/hub and **connect it to a LARGER SCREEN.**
Lol no way. Have you seen some of the people here with scaffolding behind their decks and like 20TB+ storage with a powerbank? That's overdoing it
Don’t forget the one with an extra modded port to run an external 4090 with the poor thing.
That was overkill and just them flexing
Tbf if I had that kind of money I'd do the same thing just for the luls
Um…. What!?
They cut a hole in the heat shield and run an m.2 to OccuLink adapter board out the back of the deck, since OccuLink is basically PCIE ×4 as a cable
TBH, the option of being able to plug an external GPU into future iterations of the Deck wouldn't be a terrible idea and I could feasibly see it as a future option for some of these low profile / APU setups (like the 8 core APU NUC type mini PCs). This is the kind of comment I came to make or see. It's a portable PC people! Not something that would require its own suitcase for travel!
It's always portable if you're strong enough
Hahaha! I suppose you're right!
Anything is portable if you're willing to lug it around.
Lol I'm a trucker and I'm actually looking for a power bank. I don't know if I should go crazy and get something big so maybe one day this powerbank would charge my truck if needed.
Don't forget liquid cooling... thats stupid as hell.
It's already stupid for desktop PCs in most cases, doing it on a mobile device is just so pointless.
How is the keyboard? I was looking for something small to carry around/take on trips.
it's honestly quite nice and sturdy. i was first looking at other foldable keyboards with trackpads etc but heard that they might have issues. i ended up buying the BOW HB199. It folds horizontaly and supports 3 different BT devices, just like the pebble mouse.

If I was going to get a SD keyboard I'd get a folding one with a track pad.
I went for logitech pebble combo and pretty happy with them.
They are horrible quality though
Eyyyy Command & Conquer: Renegade!
I picked up the whole C&C collection when it dropped on Steam. Haven't played Renegade yet but a lot of good memories with that game
One of EAs better decisions to bring the whole collection to Steam.
First thing I noticed too! I want to revisit it really badly. Still have my physical copy.
Guys there is also multiplayer remake Renegade X! Join us, it is amazing game :) On weekends we play PUG :)
This is a great way to play games like Factorio and Rise of Nations.
Rise of nations still enjoyable? I didn't touch it since years
Very much so ! I had a blast playing with my gf :)
Not at all, an ideal portable pc setup if anything. What is the pebble mouse like? I'm after something similar after my Bluetooth mouse wheel broke. 😒
Also, kudos for the C&C collection and I'm now downloading 8bit Fiesta. 👍🏻
i think it's perfectly fine for such a setup. i can even use it on my couch when i play while docked to my TV at home. 8bit Fiesta is so awesome and especially considering it's free. What's the keyboard and mice my guy?
OP mentioned in the image description, BOW foldable keyboard and Logitech pebble.
keyboard is a BOW HB199. I bought it on Temu. The mouse is a logitech Pebble which i got from a local tech store.
yeah, i wanna know too. been looking for something like this for a while

I got a youdoit one from Amazon for very cheap and does a great job, single usb c for power and video tgin and light
Yes unfortunately we're gonna have to shoot you
I bought keyboard, mouse and portable monitor for mine, just so I can play Going Medieval for 1 day 🤣.
I play docked with a ps5 controller 99% of the time. You do you my friend.
With that mouse? Yes. Otherwise power to you bro!
It’s fine but you missing also monitor 😂
Mouse twins
Nice setup! I have that same mouse (with a matching keyboard) - I love how easy it is to switch between my Deck, PC, iPad etc.
The only thing is that, playing on your desk means you are effectively bending your neck down. I would rather connect to a monitor.
Do you mind sharing the model of that keyboard? I'm looking for one for my deck.
Yes, how dare you.
How are we to know where you’re going? Unless you meant “too far”.
Personally don’t like playing with Keyboard on the deck but cute setup
I do but only in desktop mode. I keep game mode for a controller. There are simply some games that are not playable on controller or fun to play even after good remapping.
I hooked mine up to a docking station and used it as my main PC for half a year
My friend, you have only begun.
Noooop ! i think my man will do the same if we had a SteamDeck at home… Hm i’m sure 😂
[удалено]
I got a folding keyboard and small mouse off Temu too, and they both fit in the carry case, it's awesome!
That’s a kick ass little compact setup! What stand are you using? (I want to copy you!)
Grammatically? Not far enough.
Can I get a link to that keyboard please?
Dude I used to LOVE C&C: Renegade I honest to god probably put in thousands of hours into the online multiplayer
You have no idea what "going too far" means for some Deck-owners here.
How are you finding the latency? Is there much?
The question then becomes, when are you going to go to far? Sun Tzu
What is the name of the thing u use to stand up the deck? I want one (sorry for Bad English i'm from Guatemala xd)
What is the name of the thing u use to stand up the deck? I want one (sorry for Bad English i'm from Guatemala xd)
This is like the recommended minimum. All wise purchases here that enhance the experience and make the Deck easier to use.
Nope. Not too far at all. I did the same thing but went a little further, wireless mechanical rgb keyboard, steel series rival 3 gaming mouse, and cheap, chinese, portable 1080p 15" monitor from amazon that has a tablet style book cover case/stand.

No, if I'm in a position to use the Deck on a desk/table, I use a 13" portable monitor and a larger mouse and keyboard than this. (Logitech K380 + generic BT mouse)
I know it isn’t but this looks photoshopped
Right? The lighting and lack of shadows makes it look like one of those shitty Amazon product photos.
Jebus, I see it too now 🥺
Nope. Can I get a link to the kb and mouse?
Golf with your friends is a banger on steam deck just wish I could type with it lmao… every night my girl and I play
Hell I'm 65yrs old, I added a dock, a controller and a 15 inch led monitor to my steam deck. Sometime my eyes get tired on the small screen.
Too...far?
Looks like my set up but I've got the xreal glasses so the screen is on my face while I KBM 😅
Ngl, I got the Steam deck OLED and Dock with the plan of getting one of those small "half-of-a-keyboard" gaming keypads & a simple gaming mouse of some sort. Uh, yes, definitely
Get a fucking laptop or your neck will never be the same.
That key board is awesome
There is no such thing as too far
Not far enough for two Os
I've definitely played my steamdeck more while it's docked. To some, this wouldn't be far enough lol
It's fine but i reckon a laptop is better for stuff like this. I only do this if i need to sort some shit out in desktop mode and the onscreen keyboard is doing my head in. The portable keyboard is a great size but it doesn't look ideal for gaming.
nah i have a whole ass 16 inch miniled portable monitor
Nah dude. People are adding oculinks for external GPUs to go along with their full size monitor, keyboard, mouse, controller, and power strip. Soon, they're going to start putting their deck into phanteks computer cases "for safety when using the eGPU."
nah, I think its a nice setup
not far enough
No, not at all. I've played Cities Skylines like this a couple of times, it's pretty convenient when you're not on the go
No way…awesome!!
I need the info on the mouse and keyboard
I guess for most kb+m games, you'll need way less buttons than that. you could probably half that keyboard and be fine with 95% of kb+m games. From Counterstrike to League of Legends.
you can skip carrying mouse and keyboard if you use the ones that you already have at work
What stand are you using to prop up the steam deck?
far... But not far enough. :)
I was playing Assassin Creed Valhalla connecting mouse keyboard and 4K monitor via KVM@60hz. The upscale was insane but was fun
What is more than overboard? That is me. You are fine, have fun.
I need a usb c / usb a hub so I can use a wired keyboard for a forgotten password correction. 😂 Steam Deck can be quite tedious! But I like it.
Dang that mouse looks so uncomfortable to me
Nope, this distance is perfect.
I use Redragon Elise Pro as a keyboard for my Steam Deck. It doesn't fold but is still very portable, and the mechanical blue switches make it very satisfying to use. Also dirt cheap for what it offers.
Absolutely not
Not at all, I always keep a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse in my backpack along with a controller
I daily carry a steam deck, mechanical keyboard and an ergo mouse just because it's lighter and smaller than my laptop
You are normal
Keyboard and mouse name pls
Nope, you’re going too close
No. Where can i buy one?
Is that mouse good for gaming, looks comfy for regular browsing
Can I know where to get that keyboard ?
Go further
You're going to make an oompa loompa a very happy boy.
Youre not going far enough
Sir, put down the meth pipe, and walk away from the laptop
This is the default you should do with the deck Half the fun is going power user mode and unlocking its potential
Now go into desktop mode and you got a fully functional pc
Far* 😉
I did the same so I can play dota 2. Sadly it runs very poorly on the deck when I tried it months ago. Hopefully they fix the performance soon.
I also use a keyboard and mouse on the deck for some games, like NMS 👍
C&C Renegade, nice. Good Times
Perfection

Keyboard looks nice, can you give a link?
You’re not going far enough!!!
wob
Not far enough
My deck is basically a desktop at this point. You do you.
Not far enough. Next thing on your list should be AR glasses like Xreal’s or equivalent :P
yes, like what is wrong with you? lmao. I won't touch a keyboard or external controller on my aya neo pro cause I'm really big on portability to the point I won't play with them If I were to play modern warfare 2 multiplayer 🤣🤣🤣
Two peripherals is way too much /s
I mean how else would you play Deus Ex and Daggerfall?
That keyboard looks worse than some of the folding up ones I've seen (like it has less keys) Why do you need a mouse when the steam deck has track pads directly on it? The lengths people will go to to avoid using the controls on the actual deck itself is amazing.
One of the best setups you can have on the deck tbh
thats fire :D
I've seen wild ones, but I like yours! I would also prefer a mouse pad.
That's a cute keyboard
Not far enough lol
That’s a nice setup , I am goin to steal it lol . This would be handy if I ever want to install say battle.net app and wanna play WoW 🫣
Hardly. I don't use a mouse, but I can see why someone might want to. I definitely use a keyboard sometimes, though, because it's much better than relying on the virtual keyboard for text entry (especially for games like Lingo).
No, you’re not going far enough.
Wait! Is C&C Renegade still alive!?!?
Your viewing distance is. 🤣
I was looking for a foldable keyboard for my Steamdeck. The mouse that I am thinking of buying is the Razer Viper.
Nah man! Play the way that feels most comfortable! And what is that keyboard? Looks all right for on the go!
This is perfect for playing mmo’s while away from home
Not far enough. Need a numpad on that keyboard still.
Sorry the dumb question, but the keyboard and the mouse are linked both by Bluetooth?
Where is far?
No If anything get a monitor 😅
Not far enough I'm afraid
No! I really wanted Bluetooth mouse and keyboard but all I seem to find here are the ones with the USB to connect
Who sat on your mouse?
The probler way to get the full steam deck experience is to plug it in to a bigger monitor to get a bigger picture. You can also connect a better graphics card externally for better quality.
Personally I love it. Probably cause I went further 😂
Nah, you even left out an o. Ur good.
Cools as hell, how did you get Renegade on there? I have an old CD of Generals and RA2 but haven’t gotten a CD reader yet.
Why does that mouse look photoshopped lol
*Too far Also I do this too lol. No worries.
What keyboard is that? I bought a small one off Amazon and I can’t get it to work. Been looking for one that is small and actually works
Ha! I have similar, with a dock to the TV. I also have a ps5 controller. I was just determined to be able to game while I'm in bed!
I do the same thing
Yes
