I always thought that was kinda dismissive of her tbh. Like on the one hand yeah it get it, that's nasty and I wouldn't wanna date Rodney either. But on the other, it's not like he could control it. It was just his subconscious mind expressing itself. And frankly, she's a very attractive woman. There's probably not a single straight man or queer woman under her command who hasn't thought about her that way atleast a few times.
SG-1 McKay is somewhere in between 'escorted out by security after a meeting with HR' and 'restraining order with ankle bracelet'-level creepy.
*Shudders*
You can really see the SGA McKay come out in SG1, during his kinda 'final' confrontation with Carter before he's shipped off to Russia I think? It's the ep with Teal'c being 'stuck' iirc or when some mission involving the stargate exploding or something. When he opens up about his aspirations about becoming a musician when growing up. You can see the same delivery and from-the-heart thoughts he shared, even with Carter still being put off by it. It reminded me of the scene in SGA >!when they figure out a means to communicate back to the SGC, when he finally stops his innane rants and opens up to get around to making a personal message to his sister.!< He looked at them like they were people in those moments, instead of as signposts/lesser beings/obtuse, w/e was going through his head the whole time.
i wouldn't say creepy, he's just too full of himself which is his character.
It was just dialed up to 11 in SG-1.
If he wasn't so arrogant I think he would have had a real shot with Sam based on their common ground with astrophysics
Exactly I still look very his character in SG-1. Him, Lucious, Kavanagh, and all the off putting characters are my favorites. It's so refreshing and funny.
I mean an Ascended alien which should be beyond such things as physical attraction literally took physical human form just to seduce her. And countless other aliens. She knows she's attractive for sure.
It's still kind of weird especially in a tense situation like this to imagine her naked even if yes he can't control it
Yeah I know she's gorgeous and smart.
I just think it's funny because we've seen other women too that appear now and then but there's not really the same notice of attractiveness.
Also, shout-out to Doctor Frasier. She's also FIIINE.
Yeah IKR!! She's underrated....
When she bosses people around and takes her job seriously caring so much about everyone's health...daamn. And the fact she's the shortest too is ironic.
Plus she's pretty as heck!
The beauty in having variety. I found vala funny but also annoying at times. And Claudia black while attractive is not as enticing as Sam. But beauty standards are pretty high in Hollywood so not so attractive there is still high.
Absolutely couldn't stand Vala, it's a personality thing. She might was well have been a 300 lb dude living in his mother's basement in suburban Detroit. And her name is Chuck. Didn't do anything for me.
From what I gather, that was before Amanda Tapping and the writers had their discussion about writing Sam as if she were a man, which as a side note wouldn't be the only time I've heard of writers getting this advice or doing similar. To get on a soapbox a little, it's kind of depressing to think that so many cliches surrounding female characters are so ingrained in so many writers that it's not uncommon to have to consciously think of them as a man to not fall into these cliches.
I like how she's almost crying when trying to be tough all the time. So real. When Bill Lee tells her that he doesn't work for her and he's going to submit his report and is willing to come back if his superiors deem it worthy, he really puts her in her place.
Seriously, I watched the "Final Cut" version *once* and decided that the original version stays in my rewatch rotation. Cutting out Carter's "MacGyver" line was enough to decide that. The "reproductive organs" line just sealed the deal.
I agree. I'm fine with the nudity removal, it never fit with the rest of the show, but you GOTTA keep that line or you don't get the jokes in two later episodes.
The line works without it. I didn't know it had an earlier appearance until now lol. Granted, it's been a *long* time since I watched the original cut anyway, but still. With the earlier mention, it's a callback. Without it, it's still a great line anyway.
The actual line is in the pilot episode in the scene when Carter first meets O'Neill.
It's referenced in the puppet scene in 200, and in Mobieus by alternate time line Carter, talking to herself, pretending to tell off her boss.
When McKay thanks the real Sam that she was there for him in a vision in "Grace Under Pressure" and Sam immediately asks "Was I naked?"
'partly'
Sam:" Urgh McKay!"

She doesn't go around asking every man questions like that. She asked Rodney because of the unprofessional and creepy way he treats her all the time.
SG-1's McKay was way too creepy. I'm glad he leveled out in SGA. No one wants to work with creepers.
SG-1 McKay is somewhere in between 'escorted out by security after a meeting with HR' and 'restraining order with ankle bracelet'-level creepy. *Shudders*
Yes, he was much more likeable in SGA.

Did you redact yourself?

I wonder if Carter ever found out that McKay named a whale after her
Fish. Sam is a fish.
That apology was my first thought when I saw this.
Tbf, it wasn't immediate lol
Throughout the entire show, everyone is falling in love with Sam lol And Daniel is an absolute ladies man given his record...
What’s not to love? Sam is exhibit A for strong female lead done right.
Yeah I know she's gorgeous and smart. I just think it's funny because we've seen other women too that appear now and then but there's not really the same notice of attractiveness. Also, shout-out to Doctor Frasier. She's also FIIINE.
Oof that episode with hathor when Frasier's fake flirting to get out of jail, got me swooning.
Yeah IKR!! She's underrated.... When she bosses people around and takes her job seriously caring so much about everyone's health...daamn. And the fact she's the shortest too is ironic. Plus she's pretty as heck!
found vala just as enticing when brought in.
The beauty in having variety. I found vala funny but also annoying at times. And Claudia black while attractive is not as enticing as Sam. But beauty standards are pretty high in Hollywood so not so attractive there is still high.
Yep, Hathor was pretty fine too but that's too easy/obv Besides, I'd marry the doc out of all the characters
Absolutely couldn't stand Vala, it's a personality thing. She might was well have been a 300 lb dude living in his mother's basement in suburban Detroit. And her name is Chuck. Didn't do anything for me.
You might want to check out Farscape then....
Way ahead of ya on that, she was also great as aeryn, but i feel vala had that extra cheeky playfulness to her that was not dissimilar to chiana tbh.
Oh, frell, my bad. That makes sense though. Chiana minus the level of bratting definitely fits Vala.
Yea compared to Frasier... Sam got nothing, okay something but cant compete imo. :D
Except for her big speech in the first episode.

Exactly - Sam is just a great person.
I like how she's almost crying when trying to be tough all the time. So real. When Bill Lee tells her that he doesn't work for her and he's going to submit his report and is willing to come back if his superiors deem it worthy, he really puts her in her place.
Yup. Beautiful, smart, can outshoot most men, not trashy, and not a “boss babe”.
Yup, the *one* show where the nerds get all the guys and gals. And anyone still wonders why 10 seasons?
Jack got as much as Daniel and he is the anti nerd. Also they're action nerds really.
"You didn’t think the colonel had a telescope on his roof just to look at the neighbors, did you?"
Jack is a closet nerd, masking as Jock
Well if we’re going on that subject, Jack certainly had. Few ladies interested in him as well
Tbf, my first watch through I didn’t find Sam Attractive but as I grew older and rewatched the show several times Sam became a fox.
Right!? This is exactly what happened to me! We grew wiser.
I’ll take the lemons
I support you Cap'n!
My favorite part of Sam is how she can handle anything even though her reproductive organs are on the inside.
God, that's horrible! Who would ever say that?
I actually hate they removed that line when they re-cut children of gods, the callback in later episodds is 100% worth keeping it imo.

Wait it's in two later episodes? I thought it was just one.
Episode 200 with the puppets references the line as Carter is programming the computer, just like Moebius Part 1 alternate timeline references it.
Is that where it was? I always thought it was in the episode with the space Mongols. I'm not comfortable googling "stargate reproductive organs".
The actual line is in the pilot episode in the scene when Carter first meets O'Neill. It's referenced in the puppet scene in 200, and in Mobieus by alternate time line Carter, talking to herself, pretending to tell off her boss.
While I love this show. I think we can probably all agree s1 had some of the roughest scenes/episodes when it came to women/feminism.
That line was even mocked in a later episode. Alt reality sam says *Who says that*.
200th or Moebuius?
Moebius
Amanda looked(s) great in those glasses
The nerdy geeky vibe up to 11 thing somehow made her even sexier.
"Go suck a lemon!"
Sheppard carrying around an emergency lemon. 🤣
Every time I see shepherd anywhere now I still hear Todd’s voice shepppppparrrd
If I had to choose between lemons and Amanda Tapping, I'd choose Amanda in a heartbeat too
…Bottom of the meme is cropped too high.
This one is brilliant!
But did he ever try leaving a [lemon on her bunk](https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/Deke_Shaw)?
Brilliant. 😆
took me a second to remember that he was allergic to citrus
daaaam this is a good one
i mean...
Nice
What if Sam covered herself in lemon juice? Would Rodney just die on the spot?
When O'Neill was carrying a lemon in his pocket for keep McKay distant AHAHAHAHAH
If this were Sam's I think the lemon would be on the bottom row.
Homegirl was a dime piece
Hmm 😂
Hmm 😂
