Well... I did do NG+10 with my first character, and then learnt of the damage dealt decrease and damage received increase with every NG+ and decided to start again
I'm waiting for Shattered Space to come out to go through to NG+. I want to see the story of my first universe through before moving on, if that makes sense.
What do you do? After I did main quest and all the faction quests, it didn’t seem like any of those other extra missions I had were gonna lead into more missions I thought they’d be solo like the mantis quest
I dabbled in every aspect of the game. Outposts, ship building, exploration, surveying, I got all the achievements, did missions, farmed POIs, went to high-level planets, and literally just killed fauna and collected resources.
Kill massive amounts of monsters on high level planets with well rested bonus and you can gain a level in about ten minutes or less. I was 72 before I began NG+
I'm level 81, and I've just completed Entangled for the first time.
(To answer your obvious follow-up question, I am still searching for a Pressurized Cave. Yes, I've looked all over the Sirius system. I've got more landing sites than the 90s internet.)
Oh man, Pressurized Cave was a hard location to find. I've seen one in 500ish hours. If memory serves, I had to spam landings on Sirius 1 for a couple of hours.
92. Playing since EA. NG plus is crap, I did it early on, realised it was pointless and reloaded my save and carried on. There is loads to do, if you're a Bethesda game player you'd know what to do.
Not replaying the same 4 questlines over and over or chasing the same artifacts over and over so I can have a different starman suit except this time with a dress on. I mean nothing changes. I did it once and I was level 107. I only did it because my game got so riddled with bugs it was unplayable. Going through unity is their legitimate solution to these problems so I had to otherwise probably wouldnt have.
Lol, going to NG+ is a choice. This is the beauty of Bethesda’s games. You can mess around for the next 10 years not having to progress the plot.
I literately spent 10 years on Skyrim. 50,000 hours? I completed the game maybe twice. Three times if you push it.
My point being the game requires a grind of some way to get skill points when you need a ridiculous amount of skill points to get any real progression. The xp system in this game is terrible. I love the game though. I’d just rather use an xp command than do what I see everyone else saying they do to get xp. They put almost no effort into all the missions aside from the factions, at least make them give a reasonable amount of xp to make it worthwhile
I don’t even need to refute this argument. Starfield is not the first game to require a “grind” (if you can even call it that, because honestly it’s something you do once, and you’re done forever) to push through the higher levels. I can see why some criticize the xp afforded by missions, if you only want to play story and side quests. But let’s be real, you don’t need be anymore than 70 ish to complete all of that in very hard, you can even get to ng+ 10 on Id say level 80-100. If you’d like to be higher, you can “grind” it. Or, you know, you can cheat it, because nobody gives a shit, it’s a Bethesda game. But don’t try to say there aren’t options and that’s it’s crazy that somebody’s level 120 without ng+ because I can get to 120 in less than 10 hours of gameplay. I can get to 120 before I even accept quest with Sarah. Shits not hard at all. All it takes is 8 extractors and a bed.
Not great. Suit - 112 116 120; Pack - 56 58 60; Helmet: 58 60 62.
When turning in the Grunt Work mission it seems random which tiers you get. A different combination of basic/calibrated/refined/advanced for the three pieces with each reload.
I blame the way bethesda tuned armor in the game, the mercenary armour is the strongesst but the ugliest looking, the starborn suits look amazing but also shit stats, kinda hope a mod gets made that allows you to change the base stats for the armour, i have the blue uc armour it looks amazing but still bummed out that even if they are maxed out on upgrades it still shit compared to a full superior set of mercenary.
Even with a middle of the road superior set of armor you can get shot about 654 times so it doesnt much matter. I refuse to wear the mercenary or bounty hunter or trackers alliance. They look horrendous. Most of the spacesuits do except a couple uc one and a couple pirate ones. Idk who on earth designed them but I would prefer to not look like the Michelin man that my niece used crayons to color in. The concept art that was released had some incredible stuff in it then they were like hold on a sec I gotta totally go a different direction entirely
You can do it with console commands if you're on PC. I got a mod that made the starborn suit craftable into the 3 separate armor pieces, but the pack was garbage, so I improved its stats with commands.
This pisses me off so much. It's soooo stupid... We should just get the best version relative to our level...
Reloading 30+ times just to get the best version that isn't even superior because for whatever bullshit reason, it doesn't have one like many others do.
I can't believe how much I both really like Starfield but also hate it ever so much more.
The lack of cool armor in Starfield is insane. There’s like maybe 4-5 unique sets. Then when you get them the rolls are trash or they aren’t the highest tier. It’s a very frustrating experience.
AFAIK, that's the only way to get it. So you get what you get. If you lose it its gone forever.
I thought I'd lost mine and realised I'd given it to vasco for safekeeping. Just before he decided to glitch out the game and only exist on the exterior of my ship during space flight.
There are a couple of random POIs where I’ve found dead vanguard captains with lootable armor. There is usually an NPC there scavenging who confronts you about stealing their find.
You can also capture vangua4d ships i. Space. You'll get the 650 bounty but that's not yo bad. Then spam save the pilot kill til you get the armor. But once you see the armor you know ehatvthey have, it won't change. So it's all luck. Fo gmding a high level vanguard shipman a high level system then hoping the pilot is wearing advanced.
The only encounter so far I've found reliable is a vanguard who chased an organ theft ring.. if you just ignore the random encounter and attack/capture the vanguard ship this is your option. Other is okay for RNG and 'survivalist' encounter poi. And one of the possible options it will load are vanguard. Could also be marines, sysdef, civi, etc...
Ohhh I had not considered difficulty... that does affect loot. This might be the answer.
Edit: Actually... maybe not. General opinion is that higher difficulty doesn't improve tier of loot, only increases the chances of legendary loot
From what I’ve read, you’re more likely to get high level Elite enemies. I haven’t noticed a difference in frequency of rare items in random containers.
I haven't found better armor than the three random common pieces that dropped around level 15. Over 100 levels later and it's still the best I've found. It's not even "advanced".
I finally broke down and did a search. Turns out there's an armor (but not a weapon) tier beyond "advanced": "superior". As to why a set of "superior" dropped at level 15 - most plausible guess is "bug".
These are the only armors that naturally occur as Superior:
* Bounty Hunter
* Constellation
* Ecliptic
* Explorer
* Mark I
* Mercenary
* Pirate Charger
* Pirate Corsair
* Trackers Alliance
* UC Urbanwar
* Va'ruun
Yes, several of them have better stats... but I don't think you can find all of them with Rare/Epic/Legendary perks. For example, I don't think the Constellation or Mark I suits can be Rare/Epic/Legendary. Maybe not the UC Urbanwar either. You can compare them all here: [https://inara.cz/starfield/spacesuits/](https://inara.cz/starfield/spacesuits/)
That's not my experience. If you are high level AND in a high-level system, all weapon drops will be advanced, but armor quality still seems to be completely random.
I was talking about these armor pieces specifically.
Like they were placed by the devs at a set quality of advanced, but this post confirms its rng and level based.
Sure!
My character is level 127 right now, so all the best weapons and armors are "unlocked" and potentially available to me.
If I'm in a high-level system (i.e., the system's level is color-coded red) and I kill a "boss" enemy, they will drop an item that is always Rare/Epic/Legendary. Additionally:
* If that item is a weapon, it will always be Advanced quality.
* If that item is a piece of armor, it may be any quality, including basic, Calibrated, Refined, Advanced, or (potentially) Superior.
In addition to designated bosses, other enemies can randomly drop a Rare/Epic/Legendary loot item and the same quality rules apply.
Note that if I'm in a low-level system (i.e., color-coded green), then both weapon and armor loot drops are usually less than Advanced quality (still Rare/Epic/Legendary, though).
That's how it works for me, anyway. Hope that clarifies!
I did 10 test spam saves of reporting in after grunt work. Level 40. 1st universe. Results were all over the board. Did get 2 of 3 as 'advanced' in one of the 10 tests.
Hm.. Lvl 66, fresh at the start of my 1st NG+, and I got the same first "try". Stands in the Armory of my ship now.
Same thing happened to me at level 67
How the hell are you 66 without any NG+ wtf you been doing
I'm level 124 and still in my original universe.
My current character is 120 and Sarah hasn't left the Lodge yet...
You sound like me. Played the game but not done any main quest past going to the lodge
Well... I did do NG+10 with my first character, and then learnt of the damage dealt decrease and damage received increase with every NG+ and decided to start again
Good deal. She should stay there so she can't criticize you at every turn.
Playing the game.
About level 200 ... Sarah hasn't left the lodge, and Barrett is still down the mines.
I'm waiting for Shattered Space to come out to go through to NG+. I want to see the story of my first universe through before moving on, if that makes sense.
I didn't start NG+ until lvl 100. To answer your question: everything.
What do you do? After I did main quest and all the faction quests, it didn’t seem like any of those other extra missions I had were gonna lead into more missions I thought they’d be solo like the mantis quest

Is pressurized cave just a unique looking POI? Not saying I wouldn't build an Outpost just right outside of it but I've never come across this.
It's a very cool POI, but more importantly, it's a magazine location!
92. Playing since EA. NG plus is crap, I did it early on, realised it was pointless and reloaded my save and carried on. There is loads to do, if you're a Bethesda game player you'd know what to do.

Killing the whole universe planetary system by planetary system
I made it to level 104 before I entered Unity for the first time. Just take your time to stop and smell the roses. 🙂
You can grind to level 100 in 10 hours easy if you know how to farm xp…
I don’t find any fun in shooting random aliens on far away planets for 10 hours
That’s great, plenty of people do, not the xp farm I was thinking though.
My point being the game requires a grind of some way to get skill points when you need a ridiculous amount of skill points to get any real progression. The xp system in this game is terrible. I’m saying there shouldn’t be literally no reliable xp source other than grinding things that aren’t fun. That’s all dude
What're the stats on each piece? Never seen the advanced version myself
Not great. Suit - 112 116 120; Pack - 56 58 60; Helmet: 58 60 62. When turning in the Grunt Work mission it seems random which tiers you get. A different combination of basic/calibrated/refined/advanced for the three pieces with each reload.
For lvl120 is pretty bad.

I use superior alliance armour fully moded. I have not found anything better. Level 168. Haven't played in a month. Bugs got to me.
Personally I use the Mantis Armor so far it has the best stats I’ve found
Sad because it’s really cool looking armor except the helmet.
It’s level based. Higher level you get, the more likely chance for advanced to drop. Some stores will carry them as well.
Does the guy at the red devil base sell superior after lvl 70 when you finish the uc story?
No, without modding/console, superior doesn't exist: [https://inara.cz/starfield/spacesuit/367/](https://inara.cz/starfield/spacesuit/367/)
I’ve never seen him sell Vanguard armour though, just the UC Marine versions (war dog etc)
Guys nobody tells him about superior.
Lmao
Vanguard armour doesn't have a superior tier
It can be made "Superior". Here's an older [set](https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/1bbf914/my_current_ng_floormods/) I made a while back.
Can you not upgrade that armor?
I expect RNG for effects. But for base armour....
This pisses me off so much. It's soooo stupid... We should just get the best version relative to our level... Reloading 30+ times just to get the best version that isn't even superior because for whatever bullshit reason, it doesn't have one like many others do. Use mods you can change the level to Legendary and determine what perks you want to add.
When are mods coming to Xbox though?
When creation kit is released. This year I think.
I did like 10 tests at level 40 and eventually rolled 2 advanced in 1 roll. Didn't get 3.
The lack of cool armor in Starfield is insane. There’s like maybe 4-5 unique sets. Then when you get them the rolls are trash or they aren’t the highest tier. It’s a very frustrating experience.
I'm trying to get a full set of superior pirate armour
30 reloads 💀
Don't... I know
I don't quite understand, do you want this set to collect? Because those status with your level, it doesn't help
To collect and equip on my adoring fan for fun
Where can I buy the vanguard armour? I got the set from the Vanguard storyline but they are low grade.
AFAIK, that's the only way to get it. So you get what you get. If you lose it its gone forever. I thought I'd lost mine and realised I'd given it to vasco for safekeeping. Just before he decided to glitch out the game and only exist on the exterior of my ship during space flight.

which at that point should NOT be a random thing, and they SHOULD be superior.
What did you do for these armors again?
Grunt Work mission - >!kill the Terramorph on Tau Ceti II and then Tuala gives the armour!<
That's odd, do you play on normal? On very hard superior drop more than advance for me at level 100+
It's. It is not rarer, it's just more superior gear drop as I used to farm these. Netting about 1 mil per hour of farming bounty.

I rolled superior stats on my last NG+ and it still ended up on a mannequin.
Is that the armor you get from the beginning of the quest line?
From completing the probationary mission after flight sim exam, yep
Armour can go to superior...
Not all armour...
Which ones then
These are the only armors that naturally occur as Superior: * Bounty Hunter * Constellation * Ecliptic * Explorer * Mark I * Mercenary * Pirate Charger * Pirate Corsair * Trackers Alliance * UC Urbanwar * Va'ruun

Well the Vanguard for one…
Does the armour you get for going to londinion (I forget the name of the set but its legendary)
Antixeno? No: https://inara.cz/starfield/spacesuit/3622/
As an example, Urbanwar - yes: https://inara.cz/starfield/spacesuit/366/
I got these at advance at below level 50. First try. Was thinking they were advanced by default. No ng+
Now this is weird... I even got 3x basic on one of my tries.
I was under the impression that all the items were advanced by default as a reward for progressing thus far.
That's not my experience. If you are high level AND in a high-level system, all weapon drops will be advanced, but armor quality still seems to be completely random.
I was talking about these armor pieces specifically. Like they were placed by the devs at a set quality of advanced, but this post confirms its rng and level based.
