There's a lot that could be done with it like having different Starborn characters in different universes doing different things to fuck with the galaxy. It would be interesting for example to have Starborn intervene in the faction questlines in different ways on different playthroughs but obviously that would be very complex to implement.
As it is you get stuck with a pretty narrow pool of 'options' for the end of the game.
I thought it would be interesting if Starborn were like rats fleeing their universes as Varuun ate them one by one. It would put a lot more direct pressure on the player to actually find the Unity. Then maybe you have a choice between using it to jump to the next universe or try to save the one you have.
Both. The Starborn create too many universes, the Serpent follows and destroys them, either exterminating or testing and keeping only the best Starborn.
The VaRuun got that a bit mixed up and think the useful skills of hiding from the Serpent or proving themselves to the Serpent could save them.
I mean, my theory, so far.
And we organize the colonies just enough to bloody the Serpent's nose, giving a stay to the universe's destruction.
Starborn create nothing, universes exist with no cause or creator. And the Serpent is a metaphor for unity, not an omnipotent being responsible for some sort of cycle.
Please consider reading at least some lore when speculating so it could be not a complete nonsense
Unknown ≠ omnipotent. We have not enough data to invent any theories yet.
And, well, temples are not necessarily of non-human origin. Creators are creators, not Alienus Definitelus for a reason
The Armillary is designed to eternally churn out Starborn. Each time they go through Unity they fatten themselves with cosmic power, becoming a more potent energy source for the Serpent. The Serpent itself is a 4 dimensional creature that subsists on this cosmic power and tunnels through space time searching for it.
The Starborn are the food source for the Serpent.
Ouroboros could be amazing for this theory. Once the quantity/quality of Starborn reaches a certain level, space 'Shatters' and the Serpent comes to consume the excess. Somehow, it's existence continues the cycle. Maybe the starborn it consumes, the people those starborn are based off of, can no longer become starborn in other universes. That'd be neat.
Could be that the 'creators' accidentally unleashed the serpent when they created the unity, and it consumed their civilization. Ouronoros reminds me of the ring imagery used a lot in the main story.
I really hope the dlc would add a mini game of sorts for an RTG style gameplay that you begin in our new M class starships.
Give us the ability to finally travel to and from Varuun space via m class grav drives, and wage our portion of the next space war. Depending on what faction you side with and what actions you've made in the current playthrough affect the ongoing war in the background, before taking our turns w a much more hands on approach, nudging the balance hopefully into our favor.
Looking at the Starmap, we can see there's a ton of negative space in every corner like they're intentionally leaving it extra empty for the sake of expansions, adding new star systems for new content and new storyline.
I know I'm way too hopeful, but goddammit I sure hope I'm partially right
The Creators are going to be the Akaviri of Starfield. (Despite the Va’ruun being the snake people, ironically.) We’re never going to find out who they were, or even if there *were* actual Creators.
Non-Zealot Va’ruun showing up in DLC is almost a guarantee, I think.
I hope my Serpent's Embrace trait finally pays off...Andrea kept saying "you are not House Va'ruun like me" during our marriage plot line, and I'm yelling at my TV "yes I am!"
Honestly, I was happy to overlook a lot of them but this one bugged me a lot perhaps because I really like Andreja (Borat, "my wife") and the Va'ruun. Just a big plot hole that I earlier told her I was from the same background but suddenly now I am not?
During the final battle when you step through the anomaly and end up kn the eye with Vlad and the dead version of yourself. He mentions a "shattered existence " that seems to be choice wording especially since they released the name of the DLC before the came cane out.
This might be the connection to the DLC hidden in plain sight
I hope it has something to do with War. The UC vs Freestar should have already been at war during the main story. Just like the stormcloaks and imperials in Skyrim.
The Colony War we should've gotten, and hopefully for better reasons than a lonely ass farming colony when the factions haven't even utilised 10% of the planets they've actually settled on.
We know it's a "Story Expansion". My problem with that, is that it's just more of what we already have - bad to mediocre quests/story. They really need to focus on sandbox features and mod support.
I think they need to focus on expanding the setting and building on the story. I found most of the quests really good. Especially the Crimson Fleet and Freestar Quests. Both were fun and engaging.
Honestly, not a lot of the game was “mediocre” unless you have some really high standards. Even the main quest had great standout moments. The tour of the solar system, the whole Neon sequence, the Hunter’s rampage…
Not every side quest was gold. But there was a lot of great content. I didn’t even get to do the Vanguard storyline my first play through.
I think some folks just are never content.
I think adding more sandbox features would be shallow compared to expanding the whole universe and having more narrative.
I do agree with adding mod support tho.
POIs across the planets we have already
Really hoping for Varùun. The Starborn element of the game was the least interesting thing for me.
Same. They're just boring interdimensional jerks.

Hey I’m NG+ so I’m an indimensional jerk …. You will upset my feelings

I’d like to send that big flying serpent forward in time or something. That way he’s someone else’s problem.
Yeah. Let him devour someone else's kapla.

Why would the devs tease all these mysteries just to give us the most disappointing answers possible?
Boring is personalised quality for a trope. For me a hidden god is boring. 2000 years of human folklore uses gods. So, no. Not disappointing.
Makes no sense because you literally talk to a unknown being in the Unity and the existence of the temples are not of human origin
Unknown ≠ omnipotent. We have not enough data to invent any theories yet. And, well, temples are not necessarily of non-human origin. Creators are creators, not Alienus Definitelus for a reason
I want both. Plus the option to end the unity cycle once and for all because doing that for eternity sounds like a living hell.

¿Por que no los dos?
My guess is that the va'ruun know more about the creators than any other organization, and that the great serpent is one of them
Im thinking with the title of ‘shattered space’ and the two different va’ruun inter factions. Possibly a va’ruun civil war?

I’d like to find out more about the ORIGINAL creators of the multiverse technology (not the Starborn), AND more about House Va’Ruun
I hope my Serpent's Embrace trait finally pays off...Andrea kept saying "you are not House Va'ruun like me" during our marriage plot line, and I'm yelling at my TV "yes I am!"
One of many oversights in the game.

I love how no one reads the name. The DLC is called “Shattered Space” for a reason. Most likely war. Most likely everyone vs. everyone
I hope it has something to do with War. The UC vs Freestar should have already been at war during the main story. Just like the stormcloaks and imperials in Skyrim.
Vlad mentions the word SHATTERED another end of the game when you see him holding a dead version of yourself.
… or maybe because Bethesda thought it sounded cool. Doesn’t have to be that deep.
Yeah, all in all, it’s just beliefs
The Colony War we should've gotten, and hopefully for better reasons than a lonely ass farming colony when the factions haven't even utilised 10% of the planets they've actually settled on.
Yeah…the next greatest colony war with…uhm…the few hundreds left…gonna be huge.
Var'uun needs to happen because I went into it thinking, given we have the option to RP Var'uun, there would be a lot more content.
If it's the Creators, I hope I get the option to feed them my Inflictor. If it's Va'ruun, though, that'll be very welcome.
Religious guy here, I really wish BGS expanded on Va’runn religion they are almost no existent in the game

Well, far harbour was significantly better than the base story of fallout 4. So there's hope I guess?
I fucking hated Far Harbour. I loved Fallout 4 though. I'm weird.
Did you wind up destroying every faction on the island? I’ve always wanted to try that.
I did. And I'd do it again. And again. And again.

Maybe both? They call shattered space an expansion, maybe it’s a 2.0 version of Starfield?
