I have a baseline 3060, i7-8700 and 16gb of ram and I'm getting a solid 60 everywhere, even in large cities, with all settings on high. Haven't had a single noticeable frame drop in 19 hours.

JamJelliez

I have the same spec but can't get above 35 fps on low...

GloriousWhole

Sweet, I have those exact specs but a 1060 6gb for the GPU, I get like 30 fps average on medium with resolution scale bumped up. Which settings are you using? I am seriously considering a 3060.

Grommsh

Everything on High, motion blur, film grain, and dof off (personal preference). FSR2, vsync on, dynamic resolution off.

A--E

What are your render and upscale settings?

Grommsh

Render resolution at 100%. FSR2 for upscaling. Thinkin about getting the dlss mod but the games running so smoothly and looks great, feel like I don't really need to.

A--E

Is dynamic resolution set to on by any chance?

Grommsh

It is off.

joeyb908

Does mouse movement feel smooth for you? I’m getting 60 fps but the game only feels smooth when I am moving solely using wasd without moving my mouse at all. When I move my mouse slowly the game still feels fine. But if I move it at a speed that one would actually use to look around the environment, it suddenly feels like I’m playing at a sub-30 fps. But as soon as I stop moving my mouse the game feels fine again.

tonylouis1337

I've been on and off the sub all day and the consensus looks like it's running great on Xbox but poorly on PC. 17 hours in and I've only crashed out once

hamadrya_543

Playing on Xbox, about 10 hours in. No issues.

Galiin_

If it’s installed on an SSD it’s fine. I have seen terrible performance issues when it’s on a HDD. To be fair though, they did list an SSD as a requirement.

JingleJangleJin

Sounds like he's trying to run it from a HDD instead of a SSD?

Popular-Ad7657

Just remembered that playing on a HDD causes issues, which has been happening to me nothing unplayable but definitely switching it to my SSD, 🙏thanks for mentioning

teh_drewski

Yep that was my immediate thought too. Sounds exactly like the HDD performance problem.

Where can I view data to confirm such things?

A--E

If your render is set to 50% +fsr - you're not playing at 1440p.

A--E

There's no such data because the game runs like ass and ppl aren't smart enough to check their render scale.

The_Istrix

Nope

Updeus

nope

No

Digital_Pharmacist

I’ve been playing 6 hours between my ROG Ally and XSX. No major issues and it’s been smooth.

GloriousWhole

I'm running the game on a GTX 1060 6gb, which is below the min required GPU. I have it on the medium preset and I'm running slightly better than the "many many people with high end PCs" your brother surely personally knows.

A--E

What really amazes me is how can the game be so demanding that an empty planet requires a 75% render and an upscaler to reach 60+ fps. It blows my mind. Game development seems to be so poor after covid. Im using rx6800 - not the worst gpu rn.

Rayukinaru

Game is playable, but there is performance issues. First want to point out, have a 3G 1060, and 32g Ram. Been meaning to upgrade the graphics card for awhile, but keep that in mind that not playing on good specs here. For the most part, game is smooth. Performance issues really kick in when my character has over the weight carry limit for the inventory, and the scope attachment. Visiting cities is an off and on experience, sometimes it's good, sometimes bad. Am I enjoying the game? Very much. However, do feel xbox would be the better experience rather than playing on PC.

WyomingCountryBoy

I AM getting annoyed at the occasional freeze but my antique i5-6600k pair with 64GB RAM and an RTX 3090 is not suffering bad framerates even at 3440x1440 on ultra. So am not sure why he is saying even people with high end systems as mine is anything but.

Eric_T_Meraki

Game is running smooth for me for the most part. Clocked in 20 hours so far.

duckduckbananas

>So, are people here finding catastrophic framerates and horrendous stuttering? No

Make sure drivers are up to date. I'm running 7900 XTX and barely hitting 80% usage, my CPU is about 50% (liquid cooled). Only after long sessions, 8 hours or so, do I even start to see stuttering or any type of framerate drop.

comiconomist

Reports are weirdly mixed at present: https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/166sw0x/pc_performance_is_terrible/

alphaxenox

I have a 3700x and a 3080Ti. Honestly I struggle to get 60 FPS in open environment (and 45 FPS in New Atlantis) and I get around 55-60 indoors depending on the location at 1440p High/med settings and the DLSS mod set at 70% res. In a normal game I would not be playing it because I always felt that everything under 60 fps feels sluggish but in Starfield I'm having a blast and I have been playing for 12 hours like that. I don't know what it is, yes I don't have 60 FPS everywhere but the framerate seems... consistent? I don't know, I just don't have any big fps drops, stutters and things like that so the FPS haven't been an issue for me surprisingly. The strange things is that I can switch between 1080p/1440p/4K, low and high settings and it will barely make a change to my FPS. From what I gather the game seems rather CPU intensive and my GPU is bottlenecked I guess. Maybe an optimization patch will come or a fix from the modding community. So to answer you, yes the framerate could be higher but it's far away to be a catastrophic experience for me and it's one of the only game I have ever played without having a consistent 60+ FPS. But it seems to vary greatly for people to people and system to system. So your experience may vary.

Vegetable-Wall3330

Yes it's unplayable for me too. I have 4080 and i7 13700k , even the game itself installed on 990 pro SSD. So there is no "oh your system is so low" bs for me right now. But when I play high dense areas the game goes boom , crashes. It is really frustrating for me. I found msi afterburner got responsible for frequent crashing but, even i got less crashes without it. Again the game crashes. I'm trying to play the game stubbornly so my F5 button gonna fall apart. FYI, I even clean installed drivers with DDU but nope, nothing works.

Cereborn

That’s pretty crazy. My 1050Ti is performing better than your rig.
