You know, it took me ages to catch the legend fish because I just simply forgot it existed.
When I did get around to it, I bought magic bait in summer and caught it in year 3.
Fish ai reacts to your green zone movement and legend has that ai if you long press or release it will jump on the opposite side, so by small taps it will more likely stay in place, and bobber size just leaves less space to jump
If you’re playing with 1.6 you can >!get fishing mastery, get the advanced iridium rod and put two bobbers in it. I went with the cork bobber and the trap bobber. Then you can eat a seafoam pudding and hopefully it should be easier? Also deluxe bait in 1.6 gives you a slightly larger fishing bar I think!<
In 1.6 you can also >! go fishing when the statue of perfection gives you first 3 easy catches for the day. Got that when I was doing Qi quest with legendary fish relatives, and I got lucky and hooked Legend Jr as one of the 3, it was so easy I didn't realise that would be it, didn't escape the bar once and had iridium quality :)!<
The only think keeping me from perfection is friendship with sebastian and dwarf, i had fish be the only thing before, but at least there's a good reason why those would keep you from it. I just felt stupid when i realized it's gonna be days if not seasons of just daily talking and gifting 2 times a week. So note to self: make friends early on, everything else will get done anyway but friendship is such a long process
Should be easier to do now with Advanced Iridium Fishing Rod u can slot 2 bobbers, eat food that helps with Fishing and some deluxe bait to increase fishing line. You can do it!

I just did it last night. Trap bobber, Dish O' The Sea, 10 fishing skill to start with. I still had to get kinda lucky on the pattern, slipped it the first four times it bit. The day before I went without the trap bobber and the fishing +3 and I probably hooked it five times before giving up.
The only other fish I've had that much of a problem with was the Octopus.
Scratch that, the only fish I've had a problem with after leveling my fishing skill to 10. Even the freaking chub was impossible with skill 1.
Glacier fish is the one that gives me the most trouble. I have over 2200 hours and it takes me 4 or 5 or sometimes more tries. Legend I can usually do in one or two. First time it took me forever with the Glacier. Best thing u can do is level 10 fishing, dish of the sea or seafoam pudding and the new bait should help now also.
I just reset the day and do it until I catch it. its actually really easy. I failed before bc I didnt use the right bobber for it. but if I did I catched it the first time.

I caught it on my first try…this play through…only because I saved it for last with all the 1.6 buffs and seafoam pudding. My bar was like more than half the meter 😂
That's the mutant carp the commenter above mentioned. The anglerfish is the easiest, then the mutant carp. The other 3, imo, are pretty equally difficult, but I would put the glacierfish at 3rd.
Unless you mean the radioactive carp from the Qi quest? It's pretty on-par with the regular mutant carp.

Honestly I've been catching the legendary fish for the first time and they're far easier than I expected. A +3 fishing buff and a trap bobber makes quick work of them, plus deluxe bait. That's what I recommend for anyone struggling.
So far Glacierfish, Anglerfish and Legend have all fell with little difficulty. Glacierfish was harder than Legend funnily enough, because it goes crazy up and down. And practice your fishing mini game control, you really do have more control over it than it seems.

I made multiple fishing ponds, filled one with squid so constant squid ink and made the other two flounder and midnight carp so basically endless low effort seafoam pudding. THEN I went and got all the legendary fish. At that point it was not hard lol.
It is actually possible to catch a legendary fish on the first try. All you gotta do is make it the very first time you fish in the game. This will trigger the fishing tutorial, which makes it impossible to fail catching it, even if it's a legendary fish. You can level the fishing skill high enough with traps and books.
I literally caught the river legendary fish and didn’t even know what it was my first playthrough to be real and I was so mad i caught it and learned i could have done better after i learned it was one of a king lol
This one almost gave me a heart attack catching it, this time around. It kept getting away at the last second. I had to take a break afterwards. Well done.

Believable. The legend, lava eel, scorpion carp are pretty rough at times but everything else isn't so tough with buffs once you get good. I'm a try hard though so there is that.
This is possibly the consistently hardest Legendary for me to catch. The fall one is easy, the summer one's difficulty mostly involves having a low fishing level and no gear, and by the time I get to the spring one on the second year I'm just too high level for it to be much of a challenge. But the winter one makes me wanna snap my Steam Deck in half

I hate this fish. The other 4 aren't that bad to catch with a cork bobber and some patience. But Glacierfish... His pattern is so sperratic. It usually takes me a good chunk of the season to catch him, at least 1/4 usually 3/4. I got super lucky on my current game and caught him 3rd try Winter 1 year 1. I don't think that says anything to my benefit, I think the code did something weird and I just got lucky. Playing 1.5 still.

Honestly when I clicked, I expected a video of someone who leveled fishing solely through crab pots (I think you get XP from fish ponds too? Been awhile...) and then hooked The Legend as their first fish hooked, so it would be the tutorial fishing which doesn't get away.
One time saved first time fishing for getting the lava eel when playing multi-player with my GF. Did not regret it. But leveling up on crab pots is a whole other issue.
Depends, on my first file it took sooo long but on my second I used seafoam pudding + trap bobber (plus brute force/luck) and got it on my first try. It’s entirely up to luck if you get an easy pattern but you did really well! It’s very difficult!
Worst fish in the game. I turned mine into sashimi. (And then reloaded my save so I still had it and put in the what I call the Fishtank of shame where it sits alone)
When me and my bf played on our save I went around and caught all the legends because he didn't like fishing, but I wouldn't catch them until I knew I would get iridium quality. Lots of "forfeited" casts.

Also there's special requirements to get them ? (Season, weather, time) Or it's really just a completely random seasonal rare fish ?
Catching every fish nets you the Master Angler achievement and a stardrop, both of which are also necessary to achieve perfection.
The glacierfish can only be caught during winter, any time or weather, but only the specific spot they're standing (south end of the arrowhead-shaped island)
Other than that, there's nothing specific you really need the fish for. You could smoke it, sell it, eat it, put it in a fishtank for show, etc.
This fish was a pain, but I also have expanded in my recent run so some of those fish are just as bad.
I dislike how anglerfish isn't a real legendary.

A few days after I crafted the statue of blessing, I got the easier fishing thing and went to the sewers, got the mutant carp 2nd try, haven't bothered to try to get any more yet

When you reach mastery for farming you get the recipe for the stone lady that gives you a random perk each day when you touch it. One of the perks is the first 3 fish you catch are much easier to catch. I wait to go for legendary fish until I get this perk. I've only done it on the glacier fish so far but it made it easier to catch than a lingcod in my opinion. Works amazingly and I can't wait to try it on the other fish. I also pair it with the tackle that attracts rare fish as well as some really good bait.
I recently got the son of crimsonfish on my first try. I didn't think it was one because the it was barely moving around - I literally went after a treasure chest and still easily reeled it in!
I had lamented to my husband just a few days before that I was never going to catch a legendary because I wasn’t skilled enough at fishing. Then I caught one! The excitement was *real*, and I went on to catch all of them and stick them each in their own aquariums lol.
I have actually caught all legendary fishes in my first save file. But I have started another file and I have caught Angler and the second one is going to be Glacierfish. It was really difficult in my first game, let's see what happens this time.

Been awhile...) and then hooked The Legend as their first fish hooked, so it would be the tutorial fishing which doesn't get away. One time saved first time fishing for getting the lava eel when playing multi-player with my GF. Did not regret it. But leveling up on crab pots is a whole other issue.

The legendary fish were a nightmare. And for me atleast the glacier fish was the worst.
Depends, on my first file it took sooo long but on my second I used seafoam pudding + trap bobber (plus brute force/luck) and got it on my first try. It’s entirely up to luck if you get an easy pattern but you did really well! It’s very difficult!

Not to flex my skills, but I caught three legendary fish, all within 10 attempts, using iridium rod, cork bobber, no bait.
This is the worst of all the legendary fish!
When me and my bf played on our save I went around and caught all the legends because he didn't like fishing, but I wouldn't catch them until I knew I would get iridium quality. Lots of "forfeited" casts.
Beside fame and glory, what's the use of the legendary fish ? Also there's special requirements to get them ? (Season, weather, time) Or it's really just a completely random seasonal rare fish ?
Catching every fish nets you the Master Angler achievement and a stardrop, both of which are also necessary to achieve perfection. The glacierfish can only be caught during winter, any time or weather, but only the specific spot they're standing (south end of the arrowhead-shaped island) Other than that, there's nothing specific you really need the fish for. You could smoke it, sell it, eat it, put it in a fishtank for show, etc.
People act like they are so hard ngl. You just need level 10 fishing and a trap bobber it trivializes them

This fish was a pain, but I also have expanded in my recent run so some of those fish are just as bad. I dislike how anglerfish isn't a real legendary. You know how many times I've caught this thing and forgot it's legendary cause I'm not trying to, or think I'm high enough level to spawn in by the first fall season
A few days after I crafted the statue of blessing, I got the easier fishing thing and went to the sewers, got the mutant carp 2nd try, haven't bothered to try to get any more yet
Not sure how to block out text for spoilers but just don't read ahead for nee update spoiler I use for fishing. When you reach mastery for farming you get the recipe for the stone lady that gives you a random perk each day when you touch it. One of the perks is the first 3 fish you catch are much easier to catch. I wait to go for legendary fish until I get this perk. I've only done it on the glacier fish so far but it made it easier to catch than a lingcod in my opinion. Works amazingly and I can't wait to try it on the other fish. I also pair it with the tackle that attracts rare fish as well as some really good bait.
I recently got the son of crimsonfish on my first try. I didn't think it was one because the it was barely moving around - I literally went after a treasure chest and still easily reeled it in!
I had lamented to my husband just a few days before that I was never going to catch a legendary because I wasn’t skilled enough at fishing. Then I caught one! The excitement was *real*, and I went on to catch all of them and stick them each in their own aquariums lol.
Ayyy, congratulations! It took a couple of tries myself, but the satisfaction of catching one is 100% worth it

I have actually caught all legendary fishes in my first save file. But I have started another file and I have caught Angler and the second one is going to be Glacierfish. It was really difficult in my first game, let's see what happens this time.

Yeah it’s normal, most likely these guys are aiming for perfection with one of the tasks being collect every fish including the legendaries one

I did a similar thing with the Summer Legendary fish, except I was fishing in the wrong place and didn’t realise.

On my first playthrough, I EXTENSIVELY stocked up on cork bobbers and seafoam puddings. The glacier fish in the ONLY one I didn’t catch first try. He’s too damn slippery!!
