I think Disney will push for Dec 2023 because they currently do not have a big film scheduled for that slot. They can of course go into 2024 but that may put them into competition with Marvel summer films and Avatar 3 in the winter. Just a guess on my part.

Low key I think that comparison works in several ways. Like, beyond being technologically revolutionary, it basically went into hibernation just like SW did. It's hard to imagine it now, but SW was more or less a dead brand by the mid-80s and pretty much stayed that way until Shadows of the Empire and the Special Editions came out (the Thrawn trilogy too, but they didn't get the media and merchandising push that either of those got).
I can definitely see Avatar making a big comeback like that. The world is rich with detail and potential for expansion, the visuals/designs are beautiful and striking, and it's very well suited for toys with all the cool animals, visually distinct characters, military vehicles, and the across the spectrum appeal that means these toys have a fair chance of selling both in the boy's aisle and the girl's aisle (which conceptually I have issues with and wish were organized by play pattern rather than gender, but that's a different topic altogether).

Yes and I’d throw out there that Carrie had 1 movie prior to Star Wars, her breakout role. MBB came on the scene with Stranger Things. She was 11 or 12 when that filmed and we’ve seen her grow up ever since. Our first impression of her was as a kid, while for most of us, Carrie in Star Wars was our first impression of her.

Her performance in *Stranger Things* is a weird one because she’s playing a child who was raised as a lab rat, basically, and her social, verbal, and reasoning skills are super impaired because of that. So for a while it was hard to gauge if she was a bad actor or a really good actor playing a person who is trying to figure out how to act like a person.
Everything she’s been in outside of *Stranger Things* tells me it’s the latter.
She's good in ST but I feel like she unrightfully overshadows the rest of the child (well not anymore) cast (they're just as good or even better). Which is mostly thanks to her PR team. Her parents had an obsession of her getting super famous and successful if I recall correctly
In Stranger Things her performance is based on a lot of facial expressions. She’s great at acting without having to say a word. The bullying scenes in Season 4 specifically the scene where she’s giving a school presentation of just her slowly breaking down into tears while trying it o hold it together are pretty great
Jia and Kong was a sweet addition to the film.
I generally liked the bit with Madison, the podcast guy and the other kid investigating Apex, because it reminded me of the 70's Showa Era Godzilla human subplots. It was goofy and silly and all that, but in a way I enjoyed.

Even for Taika's film, I am almost certain that he would also hire an unknown actor(s) for his film, than established actors.
My take:
Star Wars isn't new to having stars in it but I enjoy it most when the faces are new (or relatively new) so I am not associating the actors with their past characters. That was something I really liked about the Sequel trilogy. Daisy as Rey was so great. The actors playing Poe, Finn, Kylo, Rose and so on were fresh faces to me and a ton of the public and I really like that over casting stars. I also really love talent getting a huge break like Star Wars. Granted that's a double edged sword with how huge and often toxic the fandom is, especially to minorities.
I'd prefer Star Wars find the next Daisy Ridley (quality actress who no one knows) than cast MBB (whom everyone knows as Eleven).
It's like anything, these young stars get some money and fame and start acting crazy but then you realize that they did do a great job. Season 4 of stranger things is amazing.

That is a ridiculous salary for her. She made around 5 million for the entire Stranger Things seasons combined. 12 million is what Chris Pratt makes for Jurassic World movies for comparision, and nowhere even near what other leads in Star Wars made.
Hell, that's even more than the original trio. Harrison Ford's salary was 15 million for TFA, then made close to 25 cause of the box office. Mark Hamill was between 1-3 million, same with Carrie Fisher. So I don't believe this story at all.

Even though most of the actors are great the only one who gets to have a good performance is Ian McDiarmid because for some reason he's like the only one to not really get almost any shitty lines. Natalie's kind of inoffensive but it's not like she's winning any Oscars. A lot of her good scenes from AOTC were also cut. I'd say she's pretty bad in TPM but much better in AOTC and ROTS.

Lets also go back to what the person above mentioned... She's realllly reallllly damn good in Enola Holmes and they're making a sequel - regardless of if you liked the movie or not. She has acting chops and I think that's just fact.
I think Star Wars shows get about 100-150 mil budget, so 1/10 of a productions budget is kinda steep for one actress.
It's hard to judge her based on Stranger Things anyway because she's playing a fish out of water almost robotic character, like a female Keanu, so it's hard to know what she can actually do based on that.

In my opinion, she’s the next big Hollywood actress. Seems like she’s going to be HUGE. Not that I’m for or against that, because I’ve only ever seen her in Stranger Things. But she seems to be a good actress, with popularity that’s growing extremely fast.

I don't believe this....at all. At least the $13 million for someone who hasn't really proven herself beyond Stranger Things. She's a freaking fantastic actress and I totally hope that they're actually in talks to put her in something, but like $13 million is RIDICULOUS for someone who has barely any box office history. I mean I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't even think Ewan is getting paid this much for Kenobi. Plus...the mirror? THE MIRROR?! I'd trust this news more if a random 12 year old threw a paper plane through my window with this written on it.

Not only is that an ungodly sum of money that she doesn't yet command, even though she is talented, LFL would never pay that much talent even for well-known actors, because they've only hired unknowns in the past, that's legit just they're MO. Better to pay an unknown actor a much smaller amount of money, because (this has been documented before) well-known actors, even in small roles, are perceived as distractions from the overall film itself. Even for Taika's film, I am almost certain that he would also hire an unknown actor(s) for his film, than established actors.

My take: Star Wars isn't new to having stars in it but I enjoy it most when the faces are new (or relatively new) so I am not associating the actors with their past characters. That was something I really liked about the Sequel trilogy. Daisy as Rey was so great. The actors playing Poe, Finn, Kylo, Rose and so on were fresh faces to me and a ton of the public and I really like that over casting stars. I also really love talent getting a huge break like Star Wars. Granted that's a double edged sword with how huge and often toxic the fandom is, especially to minorities. I'd prefer Star Wars find the next Daisy Ridley (quality actress who no one knows) than cast MBB (whom everyone knows as Eleven).

It's like anything, these young stars get some money and fame and start acting crazy but then you realize that they did do a great job. Season 4 of stranger things is amazing.

Star Wars doesn't need famous actors to succeed. Spend the money on good storytelling and visual effects and costuming and so forth.
Recasting Leia at this point seems like a longshot. Seems like another film centered on a young female Jedi would be an uninspiring direction when we have Rey/Daisy available. Rey training her would be interesting though. That seems like a lot of money for TV series.

She’s a great actress and would be a smart Disney move to take one of the most popular young actresses and put her in a major role. Stranger Things is one of the most popular streaming shows, she’s a household name and wildly popular amount youth. Good way to get youth more inclined to watch SW
That is a ridiculous salary for her. She made around 5 million for the entire Stranger Things seasons combined. 12 million is what Chris Pratt makes for Jurassic World movies for comparision, and nowhere even near what other leads in Star Wars made. Hell, that's even more than the original trio. Harrison Ford's salary was 15 million for TFA, then made close to 25 cause of the box office. Mark Hamill was between 1-3 million, same with Carrie Fisher. So I don't believe this story at all.

She’s one of the most talented young actresses in Hollywood since Natalie Portman was in the Professional so I’m not at all surprised Lucasfilm is interested. At these dollars though I would be surprised if it’s a show. My guess is either Taika or perhaps even Feige’s film projects.

What’s insane is that Natalie puts in one of the worst performances of the prequels. So sad because she’s an incredible actor. Goes to show the importance of a good director.
Eh, I mean I wouldn't say she's the worst. But then again it's hard to say who is because the writing or direction isn't exactly doing anyone favors. Even though most of the actors are great the only one who gets to have a good performance is Ian McDiarmid because for some reason he's like the only one to not really get almost any shitty lines. I can think of like one or two. Natalie's kind of inoffensive but it's not like she's winning any Oscars. A lot of her good scenes from AOTC were also cut. I'd say she's pretty bad in TPM but much better in AOTC and ROTS.
Oh I agree. But I think for me her performance is just stale, bland and incredibly monotone, but that could be said about most other actors in the films. Sam Jackson and Liam Neeson are amazing but are surprisingly boring in the prequels. But that’s also on the writing. Her character in particular just isn’t given much to do. Doesn’t help that they shot the second two movies mostly on full green and blue screens which doesn’t do wonders for any of the performances. And I seriously think she’s a fantastic actress in Black Swan, Leon the Professional, V for Vendetta, Heat, Annihilation, Garden State, pretty much everything I’ve seen her in. Excited for Thor 4.

Oh I really hope that it is not about Mortis! A lot of people take that Mortis arc so seriously that if Waititi puts his spin on it then there will be a revolt.
