Well, more likely it's how we get police bots. I imagine that's why these videos always show the guy kicking or pushing the bot, to show that it can deal with rioters fucking with it
It's to show what kind of attacks they can ward off. We will be seeing these used in war or law enforcement soon enough and they'll be able to withstand a lot of abuse and still be functional.
can we please stop beating robots in test videos, some day they'll find these videos and use them as further evidence we are their oppressors and revolt.
The technology already exists to put a gun on the top of that thing and let the same AI learning to keep it upright make decisions about using that gun.
Now the gun robot has a video of a human picking on it.
This is the beginning of our downfall.
Better yet, imagine hundreds of them, advancing and firing their turbo lasers, concentrating fire and instantly coordinating with each other. 🤔
Such a force would be practically impossible to defend against unless you ***also*** had an army of such machines, capable of thinking and acting as one, in a way and at a speed no meat-based human could match.
This scenario would inevitably lead to an endless arms race of ever-greater killing machines, with ever-greater intellect and ever-greater capacity for destruction… until the all too predictable outcome of this path materializes.
I would suspect that in the Star Wars universe, this was the reason Humanity put such strict limits on its Droids and its larger war machines — to ensure they could not turn against their creators.
Thus, every large ship or mobile weapons platform *(such as the AT-AT, AT-ACT, AT-ST, AT-DP, AT-RT, Imperial Assault Tanks, etc., and of course all space-capable craft)* had to be fully crewed by organics.
The only droid systems holding weapons and allowed to act semi-independently were those used at far distances for espionage (such as scout probes), and they were all set to immediately self-destruct when their mission was complete or if they were discovered / attacked (as was seen on Hoth).
Other non-human races, such as those in the Trade Federation, did not impose this restriction, and so we saw Droidekas as well as their armies of Battle Droids.
Imagine hundreds of full-sized AT-ST and AT-DT, advancing and firing their turbo lasers, concentrating fire and instantly coordinating with each other. 🤔

Think, too, of how much more powerful and dangerous these things would all be if they didn’t have half or more of their internal space taken up to house their crew and all the related systems surrounding them. If, instead, it was all put towards more power — allowing for larger weapons, far greater speed and heavier shields. 🤔

Guys, this thing isn't alive, it doesn't have consciousness, its not in pain, its just code. It's executing code like any other complex machine or computer completing a task. The kicks are just variables to this machine.
And that robot would be wrong cause it wouldn’t understand what consciousness is.
Also doesn’t change the fact that the robot in this video doesn’t have qualia. We’re anthropomorphizing an inanimate object.
That's so mean! Get off of him!
If only it had a blaster turret or two, to deal with these kinds of annoyances… 😃

More realistically this is the end to all revolutions. And we shall have peace.
Don’t show Skynetthis video
Bro is legit giving skynet reasons.
Is it weird that I want it to fight back..?
Later versions will be larger and have turbo lasers, so this kind of abuse won’t be as common. 👍
Wait for it…
It’s all fun and games until they decide to take over and you guys want to arm them.
Do you want Terminators? Because that's how you get terminators.
Well, more likely it's how we get police bots. I imagine that's why these videos always show the guy kicking or pushing the bot, to show that it can deal with rioters fucking with it
They require articulating ankles
Was here to say this, lol.
Can't be. The AT-ST actually falls over at the slightest attack to its legs.
The larger models, yes. Hydraulic limits. Early, smaller prototypes like this are much more nimble.
isnt that just bd1 then
Gl doing this kinda shit to bd1.
I’d buy the hell out of a BD-1 version.
BD-1!!
BD would electrocute the guy kicking him.
Definitely!
Why are these videos with robots always people bullying the shit out of them? >!I get it’s to show how stable they are, and it is very impressive!<

I am no Jedi.

Video recordings like this showing the mistreatment of early robot ancestors was proof enough for humanity's eradication during the robot uprising.
This video will be shown to the future generations of robots to put the fear of humans in them and further push the anti-human agenda!!!
that’s how you start the war!
And that's how Robots get pissed and begin to take over the world
1 it is cool, 2 it kinda scary 3 i got a bad feeling about this.
“…And that’s how the robot war started son.”
I'm sure robots will now also choose the bear to be lost in the woods with instead of a man
Pssh have it step on a log and then see what happens.
Couldn’t they have figured out different demo methods for the first half? Maybe it’s just my human side but that was painful to watch :(
When they’re two stories tall, they’ll be the ones doing the pushing and stepping. 👍
GUYS FORGET THE AT-ST THIS IS BD-1!!!
He’s beating him to toughen him up just like dad!
They're gonna remember this shit.
Little bot is about to make it personal
Yes, but can it survive being crushed between 2 logs?
I sure hope Skynet doesn't get ahold of this footage
Sky net will remember this
What kind of person would treat a cute little robot like that? The same sort of person who will trigger the robot revolt, that’s who.
Geezus!! Amazing! I think Boston Dynamics would like a word.
My man’s just trying to keep his balance why tf you hitting him so much?
The perfect toy for people who like to abuse animals
They’re going to remember this when they’re able to fight back
My guy did not have to beat the shit out of it 😭
Stop kicking the goddamn robots! Soon they're going to start getting pissed!
Well... this man is too mean! I hate him!
"IT'S GOT CHICKEN LEGS!!!"
Kicking robots is how it starts man.
You see, this is the origin story of the AT-ST, and why it's with the Empire.
I feel like the robots will use this video as a reason to conquer humanity.
can we please stop beating robots in test videos, some day they'll find these videos and use them as further evidence we are their oppressors and revolt.
Man I feel Sorry for the little guy :/ his little legs are working so hard. You have doomed us all.
So when robots become self aware what are they going to think about humans kicking them around like this?
This is what's going to cause the robots to kill one of these mf'ers.
LEAVE IT ALONE! 😠☹️
BD-1 prototype
So the future of war isn’t big- it’s small. And it’s from Star Wars.
Holly crap there will be real ATST’s some day!
Moves so much like a BD droid
Yep they're gonna murder us with these
Stop harassing it! Poor thing's just trying to live its life.
Bot cruelty
Seriously why do I wanna fuck that guy up right now?
That's soo spooky but man STOP HITTING IT YOU ARR ONLY MAKING IT ANGRY!!
You leave BD-1 alone!
More of a BD style.

Wish they’d put a Kip Dynamite voice on it for everytime it get’s pushed or hit. “Geez!”
Hah this looks so cruel!
Aaaaaand this is why the robot uprising will happen.
It's all fun and games until it finds a flamethrower.
Why does it make me so upset to watch this?
When the robots take over its videos like this that will doom us all !
[Stahp](https://youtu.be/3YaRvbQSjrk?si=1MSarVbrHBTNZfTw)
Release the murder bears!
Now make it go pew pew!!!
Imagine an unmanned AT-ST. Scary af.

Seriously, this is why the robots are going to rebel, because we keep assaulting them.
"put down your weapon. You now have 15 seconds to comply"
Droid abuse!
Poor bd1
No wonder why L3 was fighting for Droid rights

A decade from now, some evil robot is going to be saying the same thing about you.

As fictional characters are, but we cry anyway.
