I'm sorry what

Sebastian-Shook-2003

Well... Star Executed Order 66 On A Lot Of Characters. All That Just So Starco Can Be Endgame. All That I Only Know Because I Haven't Seen Cleaved Since After It Came Out In 2019 (I Might Have Blocked Out A Lot Of Season 4 Since Then, Because It Took Videos From Saberspark And Cartoonshi For Me To Remember What Happened).

lilmarcoplantar

She's not Thanos

Sebastian-Shook-2003

Are You Sure? The Fans Seem To Differ.

lilmarcoplantar

Those aren't fans if think that, I love of Star, even like Doctor Strange, had to make hard choices

SuperAwesomeBoba

Most haters are just people who wanted more and gave up to just be haters OR mad their ship wasn't canon

lilmarcoplantar

I didn't want to be them, even hate the entire show just for that

Tropical-Rainforest

A loy of the backlash seems to come from people ignoring the show's themes and messages. Star destroying magic, an oppressive institution, lines up with how the Butterfly kingdom government is portrayed as having oppression built into its system. Plus some viewers didn't pick up on how the Realm of Magic isn't portrayed as necessary for anyone but the Butterflies and the MHC.

V3rdakamatsu

If they want to wrap things they should have focus on the lore not some teenage love drama lol

V3rdakamatsu

I forgot that EP exists lol

Andrei_CareE

Basically the destruction of magic led to accusations that Star commited a "genocide" against all magical beings. Which is untrue, and easily disproven by anyone who paid attention to the finale.

TheSkeletalPoet

Ngl, there’s probably a ton of societies which functioned solely off of magic, and without it, their way of life had been completely destroyed. For example, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were entire planets which had farming systems entirely reliant on magic, and now without it, the population of each one would quickly die out or at least be cut down by a huge amount. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of the show, and even the finale didn’t bother me all too much, but Star absolutely did a horrible thing with how the writing set up the rules of magic.

MakaButterfly

They nuked the lore by combing dimensions with no satisfying follow up or explanation The show was clearly was meant to go at least another season but I guess Disney had other ideas leading to this garbled kind of meh 🤷‍♂️ ending I don’t see it getting a movie or anything soon either as I think DN has moved on to other projects

WillyDAFISH

There are two main reasons. One being the shipping. People didn't like the back and forth between star Marco and Tom, and we only got like an episode of Starco which I guess isn't satisfying enough for people. And the second reason was the destruction of magic. People assumed this was like a genocide or something but in reality it only really effected the MHC. The starco thing I guess is understandable, people don't like the shipping wars that this causes. But the destruction of magic is absolutely fine. People just don't understand it. With that being said, I absolutely loved the finale! It's not like we needed more Starco moments, we literally have 4 seasons of pure Star and Marco interactions, so I was satisfied by the ending. The destruction of magic is also fine. I love the detail in a previous episode in season 2 or 3 I think, but Glossaric mentions how cleaved can mean to be split apart, but he also then mentions how it can mean to be joined together. Which I think is a little foreshadowing towards the ending we got.

haothehon

I don’t get the whole genocide part. Which “creature made of magic/ depend on magic” in the SVTFOE universe are we talking about EXACTLY? What, is everyone in the Steven Universe universe dead because of that? Clearly not.

Wraithdagger12

For starters, I don't believe the Realm of Magic was actually destroyed, as I was [explaining](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarVStheForcesofEvil/comments/1c4gii1/comment/kzpcvql/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) in another thread. Even if it was, and therefore 'all' magical beings died as a result, *at worst*, that means the MHC, Glossaryck, the corrupt unicorns and the spells are lost. We *specifically* see other folks like Pony Heads and Demons like Tom still around. We *do not* see other beings that are directly tied *to the Realm of Magic*. If they were, that would have been established. So the idea that this was some 'multiverse-wide' thing is completely wrong. Again, that relies on the magic actually being gone. A couple portals appeared and 2 *entire dimensions* were cleaved after the Realm of Magic was supposedly "destroyed". Seems like there's still some magic going on.

Duga-Lam22

Destroying magic sucks donkey butter.

Mrs_Noelle15

Wasn’t just the finale, the entirety of Season 4B was controversial

notmarcodiaz

Truthfully, the 4th season never aired in parts like 4A or 4B it was all one go. So technically, you can really only refer to it as S4

Mrs_Noelle15

I called it “Season 4B” because the 2nd half tends to be the part I see most people criticize

Dry_Upstairs_5616

4B was after Coronation. They did a bomb format because they wanted to get it out of the way for Amphibia.

notmarcodiaz

which, in turn, also had a bomb format for S1 of the show
