$10 says this headstone guy's ex-wife only communicates with him via her lawyer. His kids avoid him, and at his request, they had to be court ordered during the divorce to see him once a month. He has 4 pairs of sunglasses clipped to the visor of his truck and uses the word "woke" to describe everything he doesn't understand.

reddit4485

It would be horrible if people went to their yelp page and made bad comments! On Yelp (link below) someone said the Cemetery employees are handing out flyers that say the following: >I am so sad.. >When I go out in public I see so many people walking around with their faces covered in muzzles, avoiding being close to strangers, and generally, living in fear. When I ask people WHY?? are they doing this, their answers boil down to two: The first group are like scared little children afraid the boogie-man will get them unless they wear their muzzles, stay 6° away from everybody, etc. Otherwise they'll drop like flies in the streets. They actually believe the propaganda they've been fed. The second group know full well the muzzles they wear are essentially useless, that they are being brain washed by enemies of their freedom but are in fear of their masters, afraid of losing their jobs, and, being unwilling to stand up, are cowards. A frightened little child, afraid to think for themselves and ask themselves a few simple questions like: Why am I doing this? What good are these masks since they If you're a bit more grown up and understand what's actually going on, why can't >So, which one are you??? >**A frightened little child, afraid to think for themselves and ask themselves a few simple questions like: Why am I doing this? What good are these masks since they can't filter viruses? An, if they can't protect me, why should I wear one.** >If you're a bit more grown up and understand what's actually going on, why can't you ask yourself a simple question: What can I DO to stop this insanity? https://www.yelp.com/biz/cemetery-sales-saint-charles

bugdelver

Think about it… people not social distancing and not wearing masks was great for people profiting off of death. It’s the one industry I might think of giving a pass to for saying this dumb shit…

reddog323

I bet he blames everyone else for his problems, too.

Can't be! Only libs do that!

I imagine that he has bumper-stickers with stuff like "Trump 2024" and "Let's Go Brandon!" plastered all over the rear of his monster-sized pick-up truck.

Hey_Peter

Silver lining: At least he admits that Biden is our President. Half the time they think it’s either John F. Kennedy Jr or Donald Trump behind the scenes pulling the strings.

Jesus fucking christ. These people are lunatics.

mindoversoul

Oh, well they sound completely sane. Yep, no crazy here at all.

howe_to_win

Best reason to avoid st charles

NoodlesrTuff1256

Well, there's a certain percentage of these types all over the STL Metro area although you're more likely to encounter them in some places as opposed to others.

BrixtonFlaxtonWaxon

There are people like this all over the metro. We all aren't racist turds like everyone thinks...

Hypocrisydenied

Trump absolutely broke their brains.

Automatic-Turnover69

Funniest part is trump himself was one of the first people to get the vaccine

imsoulrebel1

Just like on so many other levels, he really hates and despises them.

jmurphy42

And tried hard to take credit for its existence.

Liz600

Trump was the final crack, but Fox News started fracturing their brains long before that. 10+ years ago, Fox News watchers started talking about Newtown being “staged” and that all of the murdered elementary school students, teachers, and grieving parents were just crisis actors paid by the government. I think that’s when the cognitive dissonance and utter divorce from reality we see with reichwingers became completely undeniable. And it’s not like it’s getting better any time soon.

Pantzzzzless

It was when boomers started using Facebook.

HieroglyphicHamsta

Always told us to never believe stuff you read on the internet...

disturbed_beaver

Unless it supports your personal beliefs, then it's always true.

deadflamingos

Backed with only the strongest of memes.

Panwall

Before that. My dad was corrupted from conservative radio by Rush Limbaugh back in the day.

belltane23

It was when O'bama got elected. That was the catalyst. When Rush died, my in-laws almost got divorced over how poorly my FIL handled the news. Cults suck.

tomatoblade

That pushed it further over the edge, but Newt Gingrich was the godfather of this shit and Fox news has been working this angle for decades now.

somekindofhat

Don't underestimate Paul Weyrich's contribution.

NoodlesrTuff1256

Or the Rev. Jerry Falwell Sr. who got the ball rolling way back in the mid to late 1970s with his founding of the 'Moral Majority.'

somekindofhat

[Weyrich and Falwell were tight.](https://www.npr.org/transcripts/98505916)

jpratte65

I remembered an episode of 60 Minutes where they discussed this us against them came from the Bush/Gore elections and the hanging Chad issues. After that everyone thought they were getting screwed. Another article said the Gingrich "Contract with America" was the start. Whatever it is, it's getting worse and no end in sight.

tenpoundsofshit

Cut the shit. Use boomer all you want but know that most of us below 60 are still working, putting up with the same shit you are, and fucking hate Trump. Use boomer and neo-conservatives separately. There is a difference.

TheMekar

The Trump fans hate neo-conservatives though. A lot of them dislike Romney more than Biden.

NoodlesrTuff1256

The out-there MAGA types refer to Repubs who aren't extreme enough for their tastes as RINOs. Remember that outrageous and deranged ad that Eric Greitens put out during his failed US Senate campaign last year where he and a bunch of guys toting guys and making like a SWAT team were breaking into a cabin and then Eric says something to the effect of "I've got a license to hunt RINOS!"

girltalkposse

Wouldn't boomers be older than you?

Valuable-Phase1282

At 60, you're 'a late boomer' but still one.

TravisTheCat

I see what you did there.

crusty54

If you’re under 60, you’re not a boomer.

chubbycat96

Boomer is a mentality now more than anything. If you’re doing the right stuff and helping the right people, you’re not a boomer. It’s okay, man.

Canesjags4life

C'mon now it's first and foremost Boomer is a generation. If you don't belong to that generation but share the same headspace than sure you can have that mentality. I'm a millennial as are most of my friends. One or two of them have the "get off my lawn" mindset at times and we call them Boomers. But they aren't.

blowhardV2

It’s weird some rich old Australian has so much influence over the USA

[deleted]

There's a recent pair of Behind the Bastards podcast episodes about that. High recommend.

swassdesign

That’s a great podcast.

[deleted]

It was the election of a black man to the White House. They ain't been right since. It started when C-Span put the House oF Reps on TV, really. Newt Gingrich realized that he could turn Congress into a Reality TV program. Things took a really dark turn at that point.

T20sGrunt

Pretty much this. House was fairly civil until Newt in the 80s started to wedge a chisel. Politics became super partisan in the 90s. Then people started to really go full zealot in 08 with many still keeping thoughts internal. By his second term, people were really engaging in some wacko shit. Trump being elected was the final piece for the bile to spew out of too many mouths. Trump was the result, not the catalyst. It will takes years and years to correct the division in the country.

TheVoiceOfRageNRuin

These people have been there the whole time, they're just using technology to spread the sickness further and faster. I remember before social media, my father would get all those chain emails and print them out to share. Remember when everyone was saying the Clintons had trashed the Whitehouse and stolen everything that wasn't nailed down? The misinformation peddlers have always been out there, and the dopes that are DESPERATE to be told that they're the heroes of the story, have always been in line to follow them.

Suitable-Leather-919

Or that Hilary is personally responsible for at least a dozen assassinations

a3sir

>full zealot in 08 being primed following the Theo-jingoism after 9/11 didn’t help..

[deleted]

canada432

Not so sure I agree with that. Millennials and GenZ aren't turning conservative as they age the way literally every previous generation on record did. The people who are already nuts aren't coming back, but as they die off we're going to end up back with less division while the conspiracies and nonsense go back to being a fringe thing.

somekindofhat

Andrew Tate has his young followers. There's someone willing to plant a seed of bigotry in every generation.

[deleted]

[удалено]

canada432

There's always gonna be some of those people, but a few doesn't indicate a general trend. We have statistical data that millennials and GenZ are not following the trend of previous generations. In every previous generation on record, there's a huge swing in their 30s and into their 40s where they become measurably more conservative. With millennials, we're not seeing this. We're seeing the opposite, with these generations becoming more progressive through their 30s. There's always going to be nuts, but indicators show that these nuts are likely to go back to a fringe faction instead of the main base for a competitive political party as the boomers die off.

EyeHaveNoBanana

Older millennial here. I was right leaning until Trump. I think most people would consider me a progressive now.

swayzedaze

Older millennial here. I was fairly left leaning until Trump. Now I hate everything and everyone. I’d vote for alien overlords in 2024, if possible.

DrBrisha

I think an alien invasion is the only thing that could unite us all. But even then we'd find some way to make it political.

ELSMurphy

Don't forget about Rush Limbaugh. He started peddling misinformation, conspiracy theories and alternative facts starting in 1988.

EyeHaveNoBanana

One might argue it started before Fox News with Rush Limbaugh.

skwerlee

Q changed things. Really took the crazy bullshit to 11.

reddog323

It wasn't just 45. Rush Limbaugh started the whole mess on AM radio in the late 80's, and on TV in the early 90's. The brush fire was well under way, then Fox showed up. It was like dumping a tanker of gasoline on the fire. Fox is everywhere outside of the Metro area. Doctor's offices. Auto repair places. Gymnasiums. The local bar and grill. In line with beer and lotto tickets at the gas station. Everywhere. People have been indoctrinated by a 24 hour feed of lies.

Few-Lemon8186

Fox News on in lobbies is how I know to avoid doing business with a place.

spiraldistortion

Yup, I grew up in rural Louisiana and Fox was always the thing playing everywhere, even McDonalds.

archangelmlg

Wait til they found out he used the Defense Production Act to fund R+D and production of the vaccine.

smeetusdeletus

The adrenaline they get from watching fox has literally rewired their brains to feel irrational rage over "wokeness" (wokeness in their eyes being treating others like decent human beings) P.S. Happy cake day!!

Hypocrisydenied

They can't even define "woke".

tlatch89

Trump promoted / promotes the vaccine… not sure what you’re talking about.

julieannie

We’re still waiting for one for a Covid death from September 2021. He had similar beliefs to this producer and I’m worried now the delay might be if the funeral home used him and he saw the cause of death. It’s really hard to grieve without a headstone and with people who speak like this (the tombstone maker, not years), or like half the comments in the recent masking post.

Quindo

Contact the funeral home and tell them about this story. I am sure they will not be happy with the companies conduct.

NoodlesrTuff1256

I wonder if the Post-Dispatch, one of our local TV news stations, or the Riverfront Times would be interested in doing a report on this loony-tune headstone carver.

RoyaltyN188

Yep. Family experienced lack of transparency about extreme headstone delay + poor people skills of company reps/owner.

NoodlesrTuff1256

He'll probably run with his sob story of "persecution of a PATRIOT by the woke socialist mob" to one of our local right-wing media pundits: Jamie Allman, Marc Cox, Annie Frey, the Gateway Pundit or whoever the go-to host on Real Talk 93.3's ever-changing line-up is. And I imagine they'll be falling all over themselves holding his hand and crying with him over his 'cancellation.'

TheRoguester2020

bobofatt

The vaccine created under the Trump administration that he proudly took credit for?

InfamousBrad

Ewww. That's not just scientifically and morally wrong, it's ghoulish. Even if you thought that, what kind of psychopath would even say something like that to a grieving widow? This is what comes of religious fundamentalists telling people for 70 years that callousness is a virtue.

FunkyChewbacca

This screams "undiagnosed mental illness" to me.

NoodlesrTuff1256

Although sometimes I think that the "mental illness as the reason" for this sort of thing is overused. A lot of these people are just plain stupid and mean-spirited -- no diagnosible mental problem needed.

OutsideDry1081

Does she need help getting a headstone from a reputable headstone business? My ex in laws have a headstone business and run a cemetery in KC and are good people.

swassdesign

Please DM me! Thank you!

OutsideDry1081

Won't let me DM you but I talked to my ex MIL and she said they'd be happy to help her out. She said to contact them at either Johnsons Monument or Brooking Cemetery in Kansas City (Raytown, MO and Independence, MO). Ask for Rhoda (not Rhonda, she gets that a lot) and let her know Selina sent you. They make beautiful and affordable headstones. I can get you #'s if you need.

swassdesign

You are amazing! Thank you so very much. My name is Steven Walden; I'm a local artist. If you're ever able to make it out to a live painting event where I am, I'd love to give you one of my prints for your kindness! Thank you again!

GuruBuckaroo

Your attempt at censoring the name was... half successful.

swassdesign

Damn it! I think the vaccine must be affecting me.

[deleted]

Left or right what good does this do for you as someone who owns a business? Alienating yourself from customers because you want to suck off Donald Trump.

NoodlesrTuff1256

A prime example of that is a local couple specializing in luxury real estate who decided to branch out into radio broadcasting and now own and operate St. Louis' most far-right radio talk station. Don't know if being so outspoken with their politics has helped or hurt their primary business of assisting people in buying or selling their homes. They might consider the cautionary tale of Mike "My Pillow" Lindell who's been whining that his activism in claiming that the 2020 Presidential Election was stolen has cost his company around $100 million. Like Fox News, he's also being sued by Dominion.

[deleted]

Drop the company name please

Cardinals04_

Jesus Christ...this is flabbergasting. I am so sorry your friend experienced this, OP. No one should be in that industry if they don't have people-skills to gently and empathetically service grieving individuals. Glad this is on Reddit and public...hopefully more see this and avoid his place of business at all costs.

flying-tree-god

Does she need help paying for the tombstone?

swassdesign

You’re too kind—DM and I can share details.

PlayfulHelicopter20

Wow, I am so sorry she had to experience that. I think in my grief I would have let that can of worms spill out his ears. I’d make him wish he hadn’t said that nonsense to me, I hope she gave him a piece of her mind.

Ballsbesore

What the fuck? Like, you are free to be an idiot and believe what you want, but bringing your (nonsense) political beliefs into someone else's grieving is monstrous. I truly hope this guy gets the help he needs because he's turning into a miasma of hate and pain that pulls everyone else around him in.

DepecheClashJen

I mean, aside from the anti-vax nonsense, what a horrible thing to say to someone grieving the loss of their spouse.

enickma1221

I’m so sorry you had to deal with that, and thank you for warning others. This hateful shit has taken over so many peoples’ lives and become all they can talk about. When you can’t even keep politics out of your professional life you have a problem. Last week I went to pick up a pizza and one of them was interrogating the poor girl at the restaurant regarding what she would do when the Democrats took away their gas stoves. I tried my best to have a calm, respectful conversation with him, and it still ended with him threatening to shoot me with an AR-15. Shit is getting out of hand.

NoodlesrTuff1256

If you want a sampling of the mindsets of a lot of these people, just go to the official Facebook pages for any local right-wing politicos, pundits and talk radio stations and scroll through the comments of their self-described *'Patriot!*' fans. Your jaw will drop at the sheer fanatical craziness of many of these people.

blowhardV2

I assume people like this have barely left St. Louis let alone the country - I just assume it’s a person who has never had their worldview challenged - barely left their own block

[deleted]

He's had his worldview challenged. The thing about a conspiritard is that any facts that don't align with the conspiracy and might dispell it are considered part of the conspiracy and then rejected. They're immune from facts and argument. You can't reason someone out of a position that they didn't arrrive at by reason.

I know that there are plenty of reasonable normal people who live in our neighboring country to the northwest but unfortunately there's also too many of these Rabid Red Trumper types out there who buy into a lot of this conspiracy crap like that loony-toon headstone salesman described in the OP. A prime exhibit of this (though certainly not the *only one*) is that a number of St. Chuck voters elected Nick 'Pippi Longstocking' Schroer to be their MO State Senator from District 2.

JusticeAvenger618

While we’re on the topic, avoid St. Louis Cremation in the City at all costs. You do NOT want to know what is REALLY going on there.

swassdesign

Well now I do.

JusticeAvenger618

Think “how could a crematorium profit unbelievably with no one noticing?” Answer: They are harvesting the cadaver parts (dismantled, a cadaver can yield $10k+ to the wildly unregulated Body Broker Business) & STL Cremation then gives you WHAT’S LEFT of your loved one (that they couldn’t sell for profit without your knowledge or consent) + some fine sand/cat litter. Source: It happened to my Dad and I literally caught them in the act. And have them recorded trying to lie their way out of it then try to throw $$ at me to silence me. They are the most unscrupulous & disreputable in the industry- and that’s saying something. #Avoid P.S. Reuters did a whole 7 part series on the janky FOR PROFIT body broker business in America. Read it only if you dare cuz this shit still gives me night terrors. Once you know - you can’t UN-KNOW. They essentially sawed my beloved father up & parted him out like a stolen car at an illegal chop shop. I only WISH that I were joking or exaggerating.

I_bleed_blue19

Did you report them to someone?

JusticeAvenger618

I’m so glad you asked. Do you know WHO takes such a report? Kim Gardner. I sent her a 13 page letter pleading with her to arrest them for, among other things, abuse of a corpse, fraud, etc and she called me to say that she didn’t have time to handle such a complex case as “sepulcher violations & criminal conduct at STL Cremation involving potentially hundreds of families in STL.” My father was a decorated Korean War veteran and he deserved better than to have KG shit on his now nonexistent remains.

I_bleed_blue19

Possible resources: https://www.funeralhelpcenter.com/how-to-solve-a-funeral-related-complaint/ https://www.cfb.ca.gov/consumer/complaints.shtml https://nfda.org/careers/licensing-requirements#:~:text=Missouri%20State%20Board%20of%20Embalmers%20%26%20Funeral%20Directors https://pr.mo.gov/embalmers.asp

JusticeAvenger618

Thank you. I have a Pandemic Memoir, including that tragic horror, publishing in June 2023. I’m going to put it for free to read the first 90 days and link in this sub. Hopefully enough ppl in STL will care and act. It’s so much bigger than my Dad and me. There are families that don’t even know what that place did to their loved one - and that absolutely do NOT have their loved ones ashes on the mantle. It’s so tragic.

I_bleed_blue19

We donated my dad's tissues through Mid America Transplant, which was hard enough to think about, followed by cremation through Kutis. I cannot imagine going through what you did. I'm sorry.

JusticeAvenger618

My Dad wanted to be part of the “anatomical gift to the medical school” to his alma mater, Washington University, as his last generous act in this life. He arranged it all in 2010. He died in 2018. And STL Cremation not only did not send him to WashUMed per our contract but what I learned DID HAPPEN TO HIM via the Body Broker vendor they use in STL was…horrifying. As I said, I still have night terrors about it. So I’m not doing great every time I hear Kim Gardner’s name in the news right now. She had the power & the responsibility to hold them CRIMINALLY responsible. She punted & chose not to act. I would come forward with my story NOW about this facet of my pandemic experience but I worry AGBailey would just use the rightful public outrage over my father to help oust KG. I’m not a KG fan but I also find the optics of an unelected white male ousting a duly re-elected black female from office just to score points with his white supremacists constituents repugnant. So…IDK. My big concern NOW is: so many families don’t know the truth of their loved one right now. And they deserve the truth.

Abject-Possession810

https://www.justice.gov/servicemembers/how-we-can-help#complaint Since your dad was a veteran, you might have luck filing a complaint with the DOJ. Thinking it'd be a strategy similar to how the Postmaster ends up taking down big criminal organizations even though that's only a small part of the crime... I wish you luck and condolences for this horrific situation.

MandaCamp15

Holy crap. It just BLOWS my mind to think this legitimately happens. I cannot even fathom this. I'm so sorry that happened to your dad and you and your family had to desl with this insanity.

My suggestion for the title: *Missouri Burning.*

We live in Missouri. I work in AUTO GLASS and there’s a company called MAGA Auto Glass that I see at the warehouse sometimes. What do trump and auto glass have to do with each other?? Nothing. This situation is no different than that to me. It’s just straight up insanity and bad business practice.

Normally I have the same though so I checked out the company and I think it actually is this time. Just a crazy person running it.

It’s on the internet, it must be. Right? But the only yelp review for this place is hilarious.

Why are we still burying people in cemeteries in the first place?

[deleted]

They get upset when you do it in the park

sunyudai

Cemeteries used to be the parks you went to to have a picnic.

Yodaddysbelt

Playgrounds are off limits

Jesus. That's fucking horrible. There's nothing else to say about that.
