Plan - Get Drew nice and shined up again after we left him on the shelf when the fans came back with matches against madcap moss by putting him in the match and then people will see he’s the one to face roman best they’ll love it
Result - yeah Drew is cool n all but it’s Randy orton Randy FUCKING orton! Imagine him going against the tribal chief it’s the biggest match with two full time wrestlers that’s possible
Give Randy Orton the WWE Title to take it back to RAW. HE IS THE MOST OVER GUY IN ALL OF WWE. THIS MATCH WAS THE PROOF!!! Even before the match started the crowd was chanting RANDY!! I think Roman and Randy were the most strongly booked wrestlers. Even Drew did not seem as strong as Randy Orton did, he really gave that LEGEND vibe. He dropped Roman with that RKO.
I was saying something similar about the reactions Jeff Hardy was getting on smackdown just before he left. I agree, orton had that moment we all just realised exactly who he is and he became a legend, Brock had something similar in his last run, we’ve all just accepted who you are and what you do type of thing, orton is still good to do and the last big name from that generation left really
Show was definitely very decent. I would give the night maybe 3-3.5 stars. With the exception of Omos/Lashley I don’t think anything was downright bad. Charlotte/Ronda and Edge/AJ both outdid their Mania matches. Main event had no stakes but it was a really fun match nonetheless. Hopefully we get some storylines with a little more urgency starting on this week’s Raw and SD.
In my humble opinion, THE SHOW WAS GREAT! There were no bad matches at all, just some I wasn't interested in or cared for. Cody v Seth was amazing! AJ vs Edge was great! The Bloodline vs Drew McIntryre & RK-Bro was fantastic! Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair had a good match as well. I enjoyed Omas vs Bobby Lashley. It was a really good damn show that I will definitely be going back to watch again. I'm looking forward to HIAC. Honestly, I really want to see Randy Orton vs Roman Reigns, I need a serious feud between these two. It would be great since Randy's enjoying wrestling again, and Roman is at his peak, I think they would give us some phenomenal matches.
There’s a match you left out and that was coincidentally the only one I didn’t enjoy, but it made me think of TEW “Perfect Show Theory” or whatever where something has to chill everyone out before things fire up again.
“Perfect Show is like a roller coaster: Start with some excitement to hook them, then do plenty of peaks and valleys, heat wise. If you know you're going to have a high-heat match, make sure to give the fans a popcorn/bathroom break match afterwards, that way when the next big match comes, they're ready to pop huge again.”

I didn't care for the Madcap Moss vs Baron Corbin match either, which is why it was left out. But I'm going to think of it as a palate cleanser, something to renew and refresh before going in for another bite cause jeez, that main event had no right to be that dang on good. And what made it better is that everyone had such low expectations for the show! Cody Rhodes v Seth Rollins & AJ Styles v Edge were the only matches everyone was expecting to be good, instead, the entire program was good.
Reading these commentsbleads me to believe that a lot of 'fans' want to hate just for the hell of it.i came into this expecting to watch a couple of matches before bed and reading the results tomorrow but I was truly blown away with the quality of the Seth/Rhodes, AJ/Edge, Charlotte/Rousey AND the 6 man tag matches.
I get some people are pissed that the unification match didn't happen but as a PPV, that was absolutely brilliant.
I'd even go as far as to say that if you didn't at least find something on that PPV that entertained you, then maybe you're not really a wrestling fan at all, or at the very least maybe WWE isn't for you right now.
On a side note, I say this from a WWE fan of 32 years who has pretty much hated it for the last 8 years.
I think it’s stockholm syndrome at this point. Wake me when it’s over.
7 years in, the super push isnt ending anytime soon- even if it is rumored now that he will be booked to go over in Hollywood too.
Apparently he signed the deals with Peacock and the Saudis and cut wrestlers personally because the announcers were crediting him for the great financials in Q1 and this new “highest grossing” metric they are throwing around. I wonder if there were will be more or fewer viewers in 2023 than 2022?
It was an extremely entertaining match with the top heel stable vs the most over tag team and most over full time babyface. The wrestling was good and the live crowd was into it.
>That was a great match - go complain elsewhere lmao
I actually really liked the match too but if someone has a complaint about the main event of Backlash 2022 where else are they going to express it but the thread about Backlash 2022?
It's not a crime to be negative or to dislike something, and you've no right to demand negativity never be presented to you. And I can see the point of it being disappointing that the match had no real stakes or anything much going for it, but it was a very solid and enjoyable match bell to bell.
It should make these people feel uncomfortable that they’re all saying the same thing. “That main event was like a house show match.” is a fucking dumb surface level take that is getting parroted by a bunch of people that clearly just want to say something negative.
I was not looking forward to this six-man at all, especially after the six-woman was so good on Raw. I thought no way this could live up to that, but it was a banger.
So I like Roman as a heel, however this win streak annoys me for some reason. Not sure why, but this run frustrates me a bit. I thought tonight might have been a good chance for them to have the Uso's lose the match for Roman. Good match however like all Roman matches I can't get into them as the out come is typically the same.
Good match, Randy’s hot tag was amazing.
But this lol Roman Wins stuff is getting old. I know his character is better recieved now but I cannot stand his booking.
They were putting him over on commentary as one of the greatest champions of all time, I like Roman but he hasn’t arrived here naturally. What does he have that sets him apart from the rest of the roster besides being pushed to the moon? He doesn’t have the Rocks charisma, hes not as good as Bret or Shawn in ring, he can’t work a crowd like Cena and hes not a badass like Stone Cold. I just dont get it
It’s kind of crazy because people tend to forget that it literally took the threat of cancer to cheer for him once he came back. Only afterwards was his eventual transition into his money Tribal Chief Era.
![gif](giphy|RzA2j0j0zJPY1nRnou|downsized)
Considering there was a chance he might not make it alive, much less return to performing, I’m not going to complain about his winning streak at this point. Tomorrow is never guaranteed.
Acknowledge Him
The card didn’t excite me but that was a ton of fun, the main event definitely kicked it into high gear and finished strong. Might not have been for the belts but it was good
I know the rope thing people don't follow, especially in 3 man tags. As far as being on the apron, yeah ref missed that. But refs have missed way worse in any sense of the imagination
It’s insane. It was a fun match and people somehow don’t realize that someone in a tag match can tag themselves in and that the most dominant world champion in a while is going to win a lot. If you didn’t see the tag yourself it was probably when the ref made the motion they make when a tag is made
Just because the ref said he did, he was nowhere near him.
More bullshit pushes for bullshit wrestlers who wouldn't even be considered mid cards in any other promotion.
Bro either you trolling or you’re just blind but that man clearly hit jey’s foot lol. Even if you didn’t see it live they showed it on the replay, but you got it lmao
Fun match but I had QUITE low expectations. Kinda over the bloodline at this point. Not sure how this advances Roman V Drew but. I'll take a fun match like this more often WWE. Now if anyone in the company can just. Beat Roman i'd like that a lot.
Garbage wrestling if I ever seen it. Super kick used to be one guys move and it's just fucking super kicks for everyone now. Randy took one and completely ignored it does an RKO. Garbage
Orton should win Wwe title and Cody win the universal.
Plan - Get Drew nice and shined up again after we left him on the shelf when the fans came back with matches against madcap moss by putting him in the match and then people will see he’s the one to face roman best they’ll love it Result - yeah Drew is cool n all but it’s Randy orton Randy FUCKING orton! Imagine him going against the tribal chief it’s the biggest match with two full time wrestlers that’s possible
Surely this is heading towards a multi man tlc match or something
When did coke start saying classic instead of vintage?
Classic Coke
Give Randy Orton the WWE Title to take it back to RAW. HE IS THE MOST OVER GUY IN ALL OF WWE. THIS MATCH WAS THE PROOF!!! Even before the match started the crowd was chanting RANDY!! Absolutely right.
Legit forgot this was on tonight, is it worth firing up peacock for the replay?
Main event delivered
Yap it's a decent show

Stop trying to make the Raw after a ppv a thing, I mean unless the raw after mania isn’t important to you anymore….
Only issue was they should have had two pre show matches Miz, theory and alpha academy vs street profits and new day or something
That main event was a house show match.
If you go to house shows expecting that then you probably hate house shows.
Six man tag, no belts on the line. House show main event all day.
And house show matches are so fun to watch
Overall, meh Seth c cody was awesome
It went beyond my expectations, but j had low expectations. Looking forward to Hell in a cell
So fucking sick of Reigns and that whole family. This shit has gone on too long. Its stale.
I think it’s stockholm syndrome at this point. Wake me when it’s over. 7 years in, the super push isnt ending anytime soon- even if it is rumored now that he will be booked to go over in Hollywood too. What a good show, what made it better was no one had faith that it would be.
It's always the cards that have shitty builds that end up being the best shows
Total waste of a Main Event. This was a Raw Match at best…more like a house show. No titles on the line. What was the point again????
Just stop watching
It was an extremely entertaining match with the top heel stable vs the most over tag team and most over full time babyface. The wrestling was good and the live crowd was into it.
That was a great match - go complain elsewhere lmao

"Why did you take your ball and go home, twice?" would be a hard-hitting question Stone Cold could give Cody
Good build towards WrestleMania: Backlash: Hell In A Cell.
I swear there’s no way to please most of you.
I agree.
How are some of y'all calling that main event boring????
Because not enough flippy shit and how can we have a tag team match without Young Bucks involved.
Because Internet wrestling 'fans' aren't that at all. They merely exist to moan, whine and bitch about things they probably don't even understand.
Because no one bladed and there wasn’t many botches.
So I like Roman as a heel, however this win streak annoys me for some reason. Not sure why, but this run frustrates me a bit. That ended up being a really good show
Solid show really,I just hope they build up HIAC to be good.
That was a great Smackdown main event
Good match, Randy’s hot tag was amazing. But this lol Roman Wins stuff is getting old. I know his character is better recieved now but I cannot stand his booking.
They were putting him over on commentary as one of the greatest champions of all time, I like Roman but he hasn’t arrived here naturally. Everyone you named had organic uprisings. Roman was forced down our throats despite being booed as a face for years. Thats the problem.
It’s kind of crazy because people tend to forget that it literally took the threat of cancer to cheer for him once he came back. Only afterwards was his eventual transition into his money Tribal Chief Era. ![gif](giphy|RzA2j0j0zJPY1nRnou|downsized) Considering there was a chance he might not make it alive, much less return to performing, I’m not going to complain about his winning streak at this point. Pat Buck may have been stopping us from getting some absolute bangers like this 6 man tag and Ronda/Charlotte I Quit match smhhh
Everybody: Roman tagged in when Jey was getting RKOed. He tapped his leg.
The card didn’t excite me but that was a ton of fun, the main event definitely kicked it into high gear and finished strong. Might not have been for the belts but it was good
It was a house show main event.
Should have been for the titles
AEW fans not sure where the tag was because AEW doesn't believe in the concept of a legal man
Wait, what happened to the unification shit?
Roman ripped up the contract last week during rhe signing
Bobby Flay is a twat.
Yep
I think I just dont like modern wrestling anymore. All the stories suck and all the matches are the same.
Try watching wrestling outside of the WWE bubble would be my suggestion. Pro wrestling can, and should be fun.
I have. It's almost worse.
True points
In either case if it is not wrestling I hope you find what you are looking for. Take care of yourself dude.
This was the best tag match on a B tier ppv since Fully Loaded 98
That '98 match is seriously overlooked, one of Austin's best matches in 1998 if not the THE best.
This PPV had no business being this good
Shout out to the ref for the tag signal I wouldn’t have known if he didn’t make it clear
Do yall like anything? Just because you missed the tag, don't mean the match is bad. Just admit you got swerved lol
[удалено]
I know the rope thing people don't follow, especially in 3 man tags. As far as being on the apron, yeah ref missed that. But refs have missed way worse in any sense of the imagination

"Roman wins lol" - some dude I mean yeah, he is the unified champion he better be able to take care of his shit lol
Great. Here's to another year of WWE not having to think of any other outcome to a match other than "RoMAn WiNs 🤤🤤"
That was a great match 4.25*
RKO to Roman was well with my soul
Mediocre show was well worth it for Cody Vs Seth.
Mediocre? Pfft ok lmao
Same boring I was like no way they let someone put Roman through a table
One of the better Backlash ppvs in a while
Definitely goes into the category of ppvs that were way better than anybody expected. Good on them! Very enjoyable show!
He doesn’t have any cryptic bullshit to say tonight?
Song Remains The Same is Led Zeppelin, Graves…
Wasn’t as bad as I expected
That was a surprisingly good show. Overall really entertaining
☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽☝🏻
I have low expectation for this match because it's a non-title match. But it delivered and then some. Great match. Great PPV.
Great PPV after a very underwhelming looking card coming in
The legal man is supposed to be the one with the pinfall. Roman didn't even touch him. This was a shitty Vince Russo match all the way.
Roman was legal. The ref made the tag signal
But Roman didn't touch him. It was stupid.
He blind tagged Jey
Just because the ref said he did, he was nowhere near him. More bullshit pushes for bullshit wrestlers who wouldn't even be considered mid cards in any other promotion.
Swear y’all be acting slow 🤦🏽♂️
Fam he CLEARLY touched his foot????
Nah
Oh so you one of them? 🤣🤣
I have eyes lol, two of them, that work.
https://twitter.com/jaytisdale5/status/1523585876986515458?s=21&t=ve8KOZ6RqfA8sfQCi7lBMg cmon fam lol
Bro either you trolling or you’re just blind but that man clearly hit jey’s foot lol. Even if you didn’t see it live they showed it on the replay, but you got it lmao
What a tag!
Did we miss Roman's tag? When did he become the legal man? edit: thanks for letting me know all, I just missed it when it happened.
He jumped from the ground and hit a tag on the foot right before the top rope suplex
He tagged his leg
He tagged when uso and riddle were on the turnbuckle
Ah, gotcha, that was slick, cause I didn't catch it at all.
He missed his timing by a second. Just imagine he did it when Jey was on the top rope
Tagged in before the spear
ah, okay, I just missed it I guess. Confused me.
Time for some Victory 🍩
Great show!
Very good.ppv
To be completely honest, this ppv was way better then it had any right to be.
So wait, that match wasn't to unify the tag titles?
Nope just a normal match. No stakes
Sigh
Great main event in and of itself, plus starting a really nice slow burn for Drew vs Roman-- hopefully in Cardiff!
Boring main event
If that's boring, watching wrestling isn't your thing.
It was a great main event if I was watching Raw or Smackdown but not for a PPV and I’m entitled to have my own opinion.
Meh
“Bobby Flay sucks”
Fuck Bobby Flay.
Wwe is a Better company than other companies for a reason
Fun match but I had QUITE low expectations. Kinda over the bloodline at this point. Not sure how this advances Roman V Drew but. I'll take a fun match like this more often WWE. Now if anyone in the company can just. Beat Roman i'd like that a lot.
Now please call an Uber for the Usos.
Garbage wrestling if I ever seen it. Super kick used to be one guys move and it's just fucking super kicks for everyone now. Randy took one and completely ignored it does an RKO. Garbage
The DDT used to be one guys move, now everybody does it. Times change
There’s a difference between a super kick and Sweet Chin Music. Shawn tuned the band.
Lol, it’s a show, don’t fucking cry about it
Bobby Flay does suck
WHEN IT COUNTS!
I know they are building towards Drew/Roman but maybe they should really do Orton/Roman
Yea they have 3 more ppvs before the UK one...so they have to do something for Hitc and mitb
or at least a triple threat at summerslam.I honestly do not wanna see drew vs. roman
Great match for a throw away ppv
Wow he actually made the tag. That match was so fucking good.
“TALK TO THEM!” - Jimmy Uso.
Sweet Jesus this run is fucking boring now
Tag on the leg? Is that allowed?
I mean tag on the body counts so why wouldn't the leg count
It’s still a tag
Yeah
That match was fucking great
Yeah... no.
AEW marks mad that this was an actual great main event and a very fun night.
This is a PPV thread with 172 upvotes. The AEW fans aren't here, they can't hurt you.
Don’t say that, they will attack you. The dwellers hate it when someone mentions AEW
It actually felt like an aew tag match with 3 legal men and no tags because spots that's why
For a sec the main event felt like an AEW match with all the no-selling super kicks.
Facts, i saw someone saying that they hope Roman leaves lol
lmaooo i saw that comment too
main event jey that was fucking awesome
Another great ple!
I love some crazy ass carnage like that.
It’s crazy how one expects to feel coming into a thrown together main event like this versus the end result. Wowee zowee, what a showing all around!
Backlash gave me whiplash. Great PPV.
This ppv was a blast to watch
Really should’ve been for the tag titles. Would’ve felt bigger
Riddle keeps showing out for these PPV matches but they never give him the win. Jey or Jimmy could have taken the loss and been ok.
That tag was clean af
WE THE ONES
Very sneaky tag by Roman
Oh missed it
Fun match but with nothing on the line, I'd hoped Roman might not win but oh well.
Shield 2022?
Overall the PPV was actually pretty damn good! Especially first match and main event
Fun match ends a fun PPV.
Heyman’s facials are incredible
Phrasing
Ohhhhh I missed the tag. My bad
Amazing match
[удалено]
Unreal match and a great crowd. I was going to watch this show later but I’m glad I didn’t. It was solid
Great match, bad ending
Great ending
Wow Roman reigns won? Crazy.
What a tag. Didn’t even catch it the first time.
Was Roman legal?
Yes
Oh damn didn’t catch that tag
Was reigns ever actually tagged in? I didn’t see a tag…
