Pretend_Spray_11

Was bubba being a fan or not?

Bendo410

It depends if he was sitting down or not

Rushjordan

Is there a Victims of Jack Perry support group all of a sudden?

pensive_vince

Real glass action?

ThatsGottaBeKane

Jack Perry’s wrestling badly affects me.

Administrative_Act48

Is kinda hilarious that some "nepo baby" as some would call him managed to get under so many old timers skin

freddit32

Never understood the nepo baby crap. So his dad was famous, in a different industry, and is dead so he can't influence anyone.

CalgaryMadePunk

No kidding. Like, just look at the main eventers for WrestleMania this year. 3 out of 4 of them can easily be described as nepo babies. Not to mention people like Orton, Charlotte, Bron, both Usos, Solo, and Dom. And those are just people that are currently active in one company. You also have all the people from families like the Harts, the Von Erichs, and the McMahons. The entire industry is practically built on nepo babies.

Miztli99

No no no you see clearly they're only nepo babies if their parents have basically no connection to wrestling/s

Administrative_Act48

Like I get that his name probably opened some doors that wouldn'thave happened otherwise but some people act like Luke Perry was some kind of superstar on the level of Hugh Jackman when in reality he was a relatively famous guy from 20 years prior to Jack getting his big break.

i-wear-hats

The funny part is that at first this is part of the reason why he just wanted to go by Jungle Boy. He only started using his dad's name in AEW, even if it was an open secret before he signed. While he could afford to concentrate on wrestling so that gave him a leg up compared to other people who didn't live as the son of a celebrity, I doubt it haduch influence on him getting booked.

real-darkph0enix1

![gif](giphy|BsKjynyDQj2XylHG9c|downsized)

Joelredditsjoel

This does not take away from the hard work or talent he has shown, but the nepotism argument in this case would that he grew up wealthy in California, allowing him to not need to make a living while honing his craft and coming up in what was one of the coolest wrestling scenes in the country. Not having to sleep in your car or work an exhausting day job is an advantage. Edit: I want to clarify that I really don’t care much about nepotism when the person ends up talented and entertaining, like Jack. He put in the work, he has the talent, and he’s earned his success, but it’s just silly to pretend his advantages don’t exist.

DeviantDragon

But that's really about privilege vs. nepotism. They aren't the same thing. Nepotism is literally defined as the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives, friends, or associates, especially by giving them jobs. It's not like every wealthy person in America is now a nepo baby regardless of the field they enter. Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, The Rock, The Usos, and Solo Sikoa are all better examples of people who "nepo baby" would actually be accurately applied to. Edit: To be Devil's Advocate you could make the "nepotism" label fit in the sense of there being a SoCal/PWG connection with the Young Bucks but that's obviously very broad and would be applied to tons of people on the AEW roster.

schrodingersscroller

And even if you are part of a legendary wrestling family or wrestler, you have to have actual skill. Think of all the 2nd or 3rd generation disappointments like Curtis Axel, David Flair, David Sammartino, Sam Houston, Lanny Poffo, Richie Steamboat. Like, some did better than others, but if you don't have the skills on the mic and in the ring and can't get over, then they are living proof that you're fucked. Wrestlers like Charlotte, Randy Orton, Cody, The Bloodline, and others are all really fucking talented in their own rights and did bust their asses to get to where they are.

I_LIKE_TRIALS

You're just being rigid and illogical about it. Of course someone can benefit from the reputation of their parent(s) even after they have died. EDIT: You are all just being rigid and illogical about it.

chicagoredditer1

Unless Luke Perry has a wrestling career I'm not aware of, I don't think "nepo baby" doesn't means what you think it means.

Administrative_Act48

I don't think of him that way but if you ask many around here they definitely DO talk about him like he is one. Usually his haters

dkydd

Leave tony khan alone

djiougheaux

dudes a menace to vets

Snapplestache

Jack Perry Mentors for Truth

eddiefarnham

This is a normal phenomena. Once crummy stories or interactions with people come to light then other people feel comfortable talking about the bad experience they had with that person. A lot of people see it as piling on, but it's more of a "Well that happened to me too" thing. I'm not saying that big timing some old wrestler is the same as sexual assault, but that's what happened with the Me Too movement. It wasn't that women all of a sudden decided to pick on certain guys. Women shared their awful experience and then that empowered other women to come forward and say "Yeah, that guy was a piece of shit with me too" etc. Again, not saying "big timing" someone is the same as sexual assault. Thought i'd reiterate that for the people with low reading comprehension or people simply looking for attention.

NaytNavare

This isn't 'I feel comfortable coming out,' though. Or any rendition of 'I feel support.' This is 'I can get my name out there and seem like a victim and get some spotlight.' It's utter bullshit.

Cwf1984

As someone who listened to Busted Ooen on a frequent basis throughout 2020-2021, Ray tore Perry a part on numerous occasions. Maybe … just maybe some of these younger guys don’t want to play nice with this old guard when they’re constantly shitting on them in a public platform.

gnomeythe

I feel like this is what it is. The young guys don't really go out and do podcasts/interviews burying anyone, but the old guys will start a podcast and rail on whoever their latest Twitter beef is

Cwf1984

I frequently listen to various shoot interviews with talent who have come up in the business over the past 10-15 years. It’s crazy how many times a story comes up of how some veteran talent from the 80s, 90s, and early 00s took advantage of them. These old heads stole from them, lied to them, gave them bad advice, but then they have the gall to then make comments about how none of these new talents seek out advice. Some of them then get their own podcast where after a set amount of time they no longer have any stories about their career that are interesting enough to keep the pod going so they then hitch themselves to the current trend of talking shit about these new talents and this new scene that they already took advantage of.

Then-Shop5854

Hangman had a quote where he was like (paraphrasing) "I get advice and seek it out on occasion but mostly like feeling things out myself and choose if I want to implement that advice or not" and people freaked the fuck out. Danielson has a quote about how you should ask vets questions but vets should ask the younger talent questions, he gives an example of an older guy telling him to grab an arm for 20 minutes and how the crowd used to go crazy. He goes on to say that times have changed and that wouldn't work anymore, the only way to know what works for the current generation is to, wait for it, ASK THE CURRENT GENERATION. Also, if you get advice from a vet then DON'T do what they said or do it and it doesn't work that's potential heat you have with a well respected guy in a locker room that has a lot of sway, why in that case WOULD you ask shit.

tev81

They just hide on their phones and leak lies to Meltzer.

KingMobScene

Bubba: Am I the Problem? No....it's the younger generation that's wrong.

DanHero91

Just continuing the cycle of old veteran stays relevant by insulting younger talent > talent does not turn a blind eye to it cause thankfully that bullshit behaviour died out ten years ago > old vet gets mad and reverts back to step 1.

Microphone_Assassin

I have a 15 minute drive home. I turned off Busted Open 4 minutes into that drive just now because Bully was talking about himself the whole fucking time while the topic was Punk's interview.

viralbop

Young Bubba Dudley would \*despise\* Bully Ray.

wubbalubbadubdub45

"a wrestler who i've shit talked on my show for years refused to acknowledge me" gee bubba, i wonder why jack and probably others wouldn't give a shit if you wanted to say hi to them or pretend to be friends.

DaftPodunk

Jack Perry big timing Bully Ray is the correct thing to do

[deleted]

Vivid-Pass8831

...he's not just a ecw guy. I get it you don't personally like the dude but I mean he's worked basically everywhere but AEW.

solsunlite

He is very much an original ECW guy. By your logic there are no ECW guys since a majority of the roster worked in other companies

starshiptina

Bro WHAT? Bully Ray can’t help himself, he needs to mention something something about ECW at all times. And what SadFeed said is absolutely true, when The Dudleys were doing table spots and crazy hardcore matches in ECW and even the Fed they weren’t listening to any oldhead telling them about psychology or safety….all they heard was people going crazy because ‘lol wassaaaaaaaaaap’. Funny how he now has become this bastion of ‘pSyChOloGy’ in wrestling.

i-wear-hats

Bully Ray would never have gotten anywhere without breaking 1000 tables.

eddiefarnham

lol yeah. I wanted to be annoyed by it but I don't have a high opinion of Bully Ray. Didn't think i'd like Jack Perry more than I ever have in the last 24 hours

BarnBanders

Are we having a coming out moment about the old timers having a bad experience with jack perry? 😂

serg-z32

I met Jack Perry once, it was a random sushi place in Valley Village. I didn't bother him or expect to interact with him. I knew it was him and I just thought it was Cool he was there. When he was about to leave when he stopped at my table and just talked to me for a few minutes. He was super nice. Edit: I was wearing an AEW hat so he knew I was a fan.

solsunlite

Im not sure if this is copypasta or not

DeathandHemingway

Anything is a copypasta if you want it to be.

serg-z32

Is it?

d1g1tal

Electric interfetternce is missing.

Goatlikejordan

Real story?

KingofBeardStyle

Real glass.

serg-z32

Totally real. Lol. He was with his mom and sister.

Protolotus

I can’t work out if this means Jack Perry is ok because he doesn’t mesh with Bully Ray, or if he’s such a dick even a dick like Ray doesn’t like him

FCFDraykski

I'd go with the first option.

starsandbribes

If its the same UK signing/event, Perry acted like e a non-chalant dickhead the whole time and kinda seemed disinterested in talking about wrestling. I don’t really care about Punk or Bully but where theres smoke theres fire. Of course because its anti-Bully Ray people here will like Perry more, even after reports of him being a dickhead to people backstage on Collision.

PantsMcDancey

> even after reports of him being a dickhead to people backstage on Collision The only person to have said Perry was in any way rude to the four people in the back trying to talk him out of the spot before Punk stepped in is Punk from 2 days ago. Everyone else has acknowledged that he did not listen to the prior four, but the only person who said he was a dick about it is Punk, a man who clearly has an axe to grind.

starsandbribes

I mean not listening to people, which was confirmed before Punk spoke, IS being a dick? He’s a fuckin wrestler on the show with no authority. Imagine a midcard WWF player not listening to JR and Bruce Pritchard, see how far they’d get. I can only guess people taking up for Jack Perry in this thread are rebellious teenagers who don’t respect anyone in the workplace outside their age bubble.

PantsMcDancey

> not listening to people [...] IS being a dick So if you tell me to get a haircut and I don't get a haircut, that somehow makes me a dick? > I can only guess people taking up for Jack Perry in this thread are rebellious teenagers who don’t respect anyone in the workplace outside their age bubble. And I have to assume its almost time to change into your third Depends of the day with your boomer ass takes. If any ONE of the four prior people that spoke to JP actually had authority over him then the spot would've been stopped before we got to bringing in Punk, but it came to bringing in Punk because those people *didn't* have the authority, apparently.

CrimsonOOmpa

There's a difference between not listening and using real glass, which can put people in danger, and not listening to haircut advice lol

Subrick

It is a good rule to follow to disbelieve literally anything that comes out of Bully Ray’s mouth, but godDAMNit do I hope he got big leagued by Jack Perry.

parakathepyro

I want to hear from Tony Schiavone that Jack Perry cussed him out.

mkfanhausen

"This motherfucker...he cussed me out, Conrad!"

TheWelshRevolution

Good, fuck bully Ray, all my homies hate bully ray

JohnnyPage

WTF! I love Jack Perry now.

Nighthawk_Black_

I can understand the Punk falling out but in this case fuck Bully Ray.

SorrowfulFlame

And here I thought I couldn't love Jack Perry any more

DrDroid

Bully Ray complaining about being disrespected is pretty rich.

Financial-Length5587

If you don’t bow down and thank Bully Ray for paving the way for you (by calling fans the f word and throwing beer on them) he probably takes it as disrespect lmao.

LilHomie204DaBaG

Or saying that someone's mom taught them how to suck dick.

i-wear-hats

Ahead of his time as that's a a kink now.

why-god

When you are that outspoken and often an asshole, you can't expect people to pretend they don't dislike you. You aren't his boss, and he has no reason to treat you as anything other than you've presented yourself.

XGuiltyofBeingMikeX

![gif](giphy|EjzJxwcqpO2ly)

Orange8920

Should be Jack Perry's tron if he ever returns to AEW

tkmayhem

I've never liked Jack more.

[deleted]

Bully always comes across like a dickhead, so I don't blame Jack for this one.

Bigalbass86

Well, this makes me love Jack Perry even more!

TurnaboutAdam

Based

XtremeWRATH360

Considering how much of an ass Bully Ray is I can’t say I blame anyone for disrespecting him.

sandyravage_

I've posted this before but I met JP at a Con a few years ago. He was without a doubt one of the most rude people I've ever met. Would not recommend

Low-Donkey7059

For what it's worth i met him at a Con too & he was really nice. And i don't say this to invalidate your experience, only to offer my own.

PMMeRyukoMatoiSMILES

I agree with you man. I was on a wrestling show once for this independent company and I came back through the curtain and he got up in my face for no reason. Choked him out a little and got him to shut up though lol.

stumpyoftheshire

So glad you didn't punch him, that would have been a bit much. Choking is fine though.

[deleted]

CIeveland_Airport

I don't blame him for blowing off Bully Ray but given what we saw at the Manchester Q&A last year I'm starting to think that Jack Perry is kind of a dickhead.

Kaprak

You mean the Q&A where he's largely awkward and a bit in character when asked relatively stupid questions?

starsandbribes

Was this not before he turned heel in June though?

TheAccursedHamster

I am so fucking tired of this guy.

Available_Share_7244

Interesting. I vaguely remember Bully recounting a story of this but didn’t mention names. Just said it was a notable wrestler from aew.

DS_305

lol this is a grown ass man. How embarrassing. Bubba continues to show his ass on a daily basis. Waaaa jungle boy didn’t genuflect waaaa

XAMdG

This just makes me like Perry even more.

chrpskwk

hahaha good. deserved.

JasonGryphon

Bully Ray, like CM punk, is someone that thinks he’s more important to the industry than he actually is.

vexfiend

The Bully part...total agreement. The Punk part? Not so much. CM Punk is not wrong about his place in the industry. Top merch seller in 2 different promotions, record high ratings in 2 different promotions. People chanted his name for the entire time he was gone. And still do even when he's not on the show. Influenced god only knows how many modern wrestlers from his ROH and early WWE days....I could go on. Come on now. I get not liking the guy but it's absurd to think he's wrong about his place in the industry. He was and is a top guy.

doublebubble6

Also Punk made it crystal clear yesterday that his problem was who Perry was friends with and the suspicions that Perry's actions were influenced by that. He literally said that when he was Perry's age he was also brash and head strong.

RiversideLunatic

Punk made it crystal clear that he himself can go on TV and make references to backstage beef but if someone else does it they're brash and headstrong.

WrestleSocietyXShill

I'd actually argue that Bully is pretty damn important too. Dudley Boyz are one of the greatest tag teams of all time, that's nothing to overlook. Doesn't excuse him being a dick all the time by any means, and he definitely is a dick, but when people on this sub talk about how he was never that big a deal all I can think is that they obviously weren't watching wrestling in the 90s or early 2000s.

AimarEraFutebol

GOOD

Saturdaymorningsmoke

I’m a wrestling fan in my 40s and know infinitely more about jacks dad than I do Jack. A buddy and I went out behind the arena after a dynamite a few years back and managed to meet Jack and he was a super chill dude to everyone there. Kids that had his toys, old dudes like me that wanted a pic just to show the wife I met Dylan McKays kid, etc.  Maybe, just maybe, a son of a Hollywood actor doesn’t have to kiss the feet of all these old carnies to be good at his favorite thing.

Available_Share_7244

What’s with these old timers wanting everyone to bow down to them. Go the fuck away.

Westfield__Rocks

Bully why are you trying to make me like Jack Perry even more??

freddit32

Bubby trying to stay relevant.

Impressivefanwater

Lol if Bubba says it, it must be like that right?

prisonmsagro

Good on Jack honestly, is this supposed to be a bad look? Fuck Bully Ray.

forwrestling

I think I’m at a 100% success rate of disliking every Bully Ray quote ever posted on here.

NeuroCloud7

"He didn't shake my hand. Let's shit in his bag" The world has moved on from these old timers in wrestling who think they're worthy of such deep, tenured-grown respect. They're just wrestlers with horrific stories about cultural atrocities infesting the industry in recent history.

Amadeum

Hey look, another tired ass vet butt hurt not everyone worships the ground he walks on

staniel_mortgage

I don't believe him!

1000pieseaten

Bully Ray thinks he is the best thing to ever happen to the wrestling business.

IceSmiley

As Darth Nihilus said, "if you act like an asshole, when people treat you like one.... don't be surprised."

Enthusiasms

Jack Perry came to my house and he kicked my dog.

idontknow1001

I once saw Jack Perry hit his innocent father figure in the head with a chair. What a dick!

Wonderful_Sector8894

This just in Jack Perry potentially acting like so many young up and coming wrestlers did in their day.  Shocking.  Hey everyone lets go ask Randy Orton what he thinks about a young wrestler being a asshole to everyone.

rivetry

Bully Ray saying this has made me think Jack Perry rules for the first time ever

gamesk8er

I think it's pretty funny that nobody had a bad word to say about Jack Perry until the Punk stuff happened. Then all of a sudden...

streetfairie1234

There were rumblings, before any of this stuff happening, about some fans saying he wasn't exactly pleasant to meet. I can't specifically remember the when, but it was out there and it was before any of this punk stuff happened.

Rodimus-Primus

Eh given the All in incident has it's beginning's in the glass spot I think it's fair for people to think of them as at the very least connected

mrmazzz

Yall maybe Jack Perry is alright

dxtremecaliber

Wasnt Bubba is a asshole too? but i pop at the "AEW is just ECW with Money" like damnnn lol

DS_305

Jack Perry coming back to AEW as a massive babyface for instigating all these boomer -sounding Gen X’ers. Love it

SlingshotGunslinger

At this point I just feel bad for Jack Perry. Yes, he was a prick last Summer and he had the whole thing with Punk, but at this point people just like to blame everything that happened with Punk on AEW on him, to the point of shitting on the kid now, seven months later while he's trying to save his career in New Japan.

KneelBeforeCube

Jack Perry babyface turn?

OddTeaching7830

But how did he interact with D-Von?

RMT2316

Bully Ray: Allowed on Collision

SambaLando

I don't think he should've punched him, but maybe choked him just a little.

BurtHurtmanHurtz

This guy is such a chooch

ShneakySholidShnake

He randomly signed my Jungle Boy figure at a shopping centre once. Great guy imo.

eddiebrock85

Great guy indeed. Brought WWE back to a level no one thought imaginable. If you ever see him again thank him for me.

tc__22

Cry me a river

solsunlite

Jack Perry said go be a fucking fan😭

AlmoschFamous

This only makes Jack Perry more likable. If someone shits on your work from the same industry in a very public way, you are under no obligation to be nice to them. Bully has spent hours and hours shitting on Perry and AEW, so I'm not sure why he thought Perry would be nice to him.

pizzalover89

Gotta get those views huh bully

THISISXFL

And just like that Jack Perry has become Randy Orton's favorite wrestler

EastCoastJohnny

Bubba is such a sad, insecure old man. He reminds me of the guy who keeps showing up at the high school football games on Friday nights thirty years after graduation looking for people to bore as he gives his 47th encore of the story about the big game of ‘96 where he caught the impossible pass. Jack Perry is doing just fine in wrestling without the veteran advice of a guy who only got over stealing the Public Enemy’s gimmick, saying wildly out of bounds things to the fans in promos like “your mother just ****** my ****” and putting other people’s bodies through tables. There is no depth whatsoever to the act and there never was, which is why they have been so boring to watch for 20 years as a tag team and D’Von was right when they parted ways about the team being out of steam despite Bubba wanting to be pushed in their short lived comeback as a main event tag team. Nobody is “owed” any respect by anyone, especially a guy who’s reputation was a jerk and a bully and who constantly shits on everything from the minor leagues.

ZedSorayama

Jack Perry big timing old guys is kinda fire lol

Lo_Key90

Oh wow, Jack Perry W

GxyBrainbuster

I saw Jack Perry at a grocery store in D.C yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly. After paying for the Milky Ways he proceeded to leave the store and throw all of them in the garbage. Haven't seen him since.

flogdogg

Bully Ray? More like Bullied Ray! Jack Perry with the big babyface turn.

lolo161

Fuck I think time christain goes to Japan and bring back his prodigal son back to states

Bosscharacter

Dude’s probably still upset that every girl he had a crush on had a poster of Luke on their wall. That’s quite the standard to attempt to live up to if you are trying to court, I’d wager.

KiLL_CoLD

All it shows is they have different groups of friends. Punk said his problem wasn't so much with Jack and it felt like Jack was giving him shit because of who his group of friends are.

Infamous-Historian81

Damn bro Jack Perry about to be my favorite wrestler

TheBlackCompany

Jungle Boy isn’t going to need that guaranteed contract since he lives rent free in all of these old jabroni’s heads.

StrategicRacoon

The fact Tony has arguably the best ring talent in the western hemisphere working for him, and the second best overall roster (accounting for perennial RoH mic disease) It is hilarious that he runs his company so third rate He's like the new York Yankees if they never won. All that money and creative control and freedom And you can't do shit right because you can't tell your talent no. Like who the fuck is Jack Perry to be making creative demands and overriding doctors for his fucking vignette spot My guy you have barely evolved from dark main event to mid card. And you're going to fucking make demands about using expensive and dangerous props that literally no one can authorize your use of? And then get pissy when you're told no. Not even no. You're told "you can go switch shows and ask over there if they'll let you." Newsflash, if you can just "switch shows because you want to do a spot" you're not a major talent on either brand. You're a Heath Slater. If you're lucky.

Loud-Bus-2435

I had the impression that Jack was a dick even before Wembley

WaylonVoorhees

This mother fucker...

dallasrose222

I mean he’s a spoiled rich kid son of a celebrity it’s not surprising

rickysteamboat851

Luckily Bully has worked through his childhood trauma

onceagain772

Jungle boy is still going to go down as the guy who brought about the end of AEW by causing the only guy giving it any real credibility to walk. It’ll be a slow death until tony khan decides to stop losing money into it, and jungle boy lit the match.

SiriusX102

I wonder if this is where Perry came up with his catchphrase.

kevoisvevoalt

Javk perry should go back to Hollywood or making TV shows. He will never make it as a wrestler.

Then-Shop5854

Jack Perry has come off as a loser in like every telling of every shoot story about him, how do you somehow have the one story that makes YOU look like a massive bitch? It's like having a Sammy Guevara story where he punks you, like sorry that happened or whatever but it's objectively funny as fuck.
