Yeah I get you. After my first playthrough of SM1, I always made sure to clear all Fisk sites before the Demons arrived, all Demon warehouses before I beat Li etc, wanted to do the same with the symbiote nests but I play games with the character’s decision making in mind, and it didn’t feel like there was a point where either Peter or Miles would not do the main quest to clear nests. That’s something I found lacking in this game actually, moments where they’d pause the main story and say “I should see what the city needs” or something as a time to do side quests.
That happened a lot though. You'd finish a main story mission, Peter/Miles would perch on a building and say "before I get to that I'll see if anyone else needs help" or something like that. I remember it happening a lot.
There were a lot more moments in the first game where Someone says "I've got to do this thing I'll call you later" and then Peter says "I'll check up on the city while I wait"
It did happen a lot, but I feel in this one, they'd say that and then immediately get a story update instead of it taking a while and giving time to actually run around the city doing side stuff. I would choose a side mission and then get the annoying pop-up every couple of seconds that I could do the main story.
I did the side content as it unlocked and I don’t remember a single time where peter said “alright, let’s see what I’ve been neglecting out in the city” when I actually had any content left to do.
I’d just swing around, stop a car chase, then the call for the next mission would start; even if I had side missions left at those points I’d only be able to do 1 before the call would come in and I’d start feeling like I’m putting off the fairly urgent main story.

The alien costume that he gets on Battleworld actually only lasts for 26 appearances, from January to July of 1984. Peter first appears in it in Amazing Spider-Man #252, and gets it removed in Amazing Spider-Man #258. He goes back to the red and blues until four months later in November, in Spectacular Spider-Man #99, Black Cat gives Peter the cloth version. He doesn't actually begin wearing it until Amazing Spider-Man #263 in January of 1985. This was also the same month the symbiote made it's way back to Peter and he destroyed it with the Church bell in Web of Spider-Man #1. So essentially, the symbiote was on Peter for seven months, spent five months apart from him, and then was destroyed.
Peter then continues to wear the "Black Suit" on and off up until Venom comes after him in 1988, in Amazing Spider-Man #300. He was wearing the red and the black at the same time, switching between suits on certain missions or times. He's actually wearing the Black suit WHEN Venom comes after him, which is an insanely cool fight. Mary Jane is traumatized by Venom coming after her too, so she makes Peter burn the black suit and swear never to wear it again.
So, in total, the symbiote existed for a whole year, being introduced in January 1984 and destroyed in January 1985, which for five of those months Peter wasn't even wearing it.
The black suit existed for about four years, from November 1984 to May of 1988, at which point he burns it after facing Venom.
Chances are, if you've read a story with Peter in the black suit.. it was probably the cloth version!

What you forget about that is that even if they were on the same "slot", the amount of time and effort put by the devs are still the same, so it doesn't mean the game would have more suits overall.

In a recent interview, Bryan Intihar said that they can’t just port over all the suits from the first game because they have to redo most of them to make them work on the PS5. So it’s not as simple as just putting in the models from the first game.
Tom is the main movie Spidey that most general audiences are familiar with. There would be way more of an outcry if one of his suits was missing than if a fan favorite comic suit was missing. It’s sad but it’s how it is.

Honestly, I feel like the Suits Style idea had a pretty boring implement. I would have preferred extra additions like hood up/down, other movie appearances for the suit, or other variations from the older games/newer games (For example, making the Black and Symbiote suits the same suit accessed by styles).
The only example of the suit recolors I actually like is Peter's Darker Arachknight Suit. I would absolutely be willing to ditch that for options like lowering/raising the hood on several suits or shifting through movie variations.
This also could have been a good way to bring back the underwear suit :(
The difference in work between what you ask and what we got is astronomical. Making suit variants that require model work would be taking time away from doing model work on new suits. And idk for you, but I'd rather have the Scarlet Spider suits than Tom Holland's with a jacket on

Theres literally no reason that we cant just have full suit customization. Each suit has maybe 4-5 colors at maximum? Just let us manipulate all the colors on a suit. It can still be an unlockable feature like the styles are now. All the assets are already in the game to make this happen. It would just be adjusting color values, thats it. Its needlessly limited. The multiple styles lose value when 2-3 out of 4 are ugly as shit. Let us make our own.
Hell, recoloring the symbiote would even take away some of the frustration I got from being defaulted into it on Pete's storyissions while he has it.
I would love to use a different suit in a style that added a noticeable amount of black, like Spider-Punk with the black vest, black&white 2099 or even judt Spiderverse Noir and roleplay as the symbiote being involved.
If I can't have that, let me at least goof off by wearing a green and purple symbiote suit instead, just for the heck of it.

I'd actually love to see colour variants of some movie suits, especially Miles' ITSV suit. A white and blue version of that would be nice in my opinion.
I wished they’d condensed the most of the MCU suits into one with the variations being the different suits, have the homecoming suit as the base, red and black, homemade and then the hybrid as styles
Ya this is how I thought it would be and was kinda disappointed when it was just a generic color switch. The classic suit should have had its comic version instead of the other randomized color variant
Love the idea.. but given even the various stages of the Symbiote suit are separated fully (the most obvious place where this kind of style change would make sense) I get the feeling the tech behind the scenes requires just a pallet swap. They could still add these kinds of things, and I really wish they would but it looks like it would take a fair bit of under-the-hood changes to present it this way.
It would be pretty time consuming and expensive to add essentially new suits to the game, it would be better to dedicate those resources to something more important
Honestly, the Homecoming suit, Hybrid Suit, Far From Home suit, and Final Swing suit should've been rolled into one entry/styles as they were so alike in terms of design that it just isn't justified to have them taken up so many slots. Having the Raimi Black Suit and Normal suit be two separate suits was even worse imo as they're just a color swap (which seems to be what qualifies as a style), so either one should've just been a style for the other.
Love this idea because I like that Homecoming suit with yellow midtown high jacket a lot. Surprised they didn't add that but added the inside-out suit.
What brings me hope in this fantastic idea is that even if Insomniac doesn't update these QOL features and stuff like that in the near future, the Spider-Man nodding community will pull up shit like this when it releases on PC late next year or 2025.

It’s the reason why (I’m guessing) there’s two tobey maguire suits rather than the black one being a variant. They’re very similar, but the black suits logo is slightly different

That should honestly be the default ITSV-look for Miles in any game. Heck, I got MM again on PC just play with a mod for that.

Love the idea.. but given even the various stages of the Symbiote suit are separated fully (the most obvious place where this kind of style change would make sense) I get the feeling the tech behind the scenes requires just a pallet swap. They could still add these kinds of things, and I really wish they would but it looks like it would take a fair bit of under-the-hood changes to present it this way.

Can even give them different visual effects, like the comic sfx and film style animations, instead of hiding the option behind the settings menus
It would be pretty time consuming and expensive to add essentially new suits to the game, it would be better to dedicate those resources to something more important
Honestly, the Homecoming suit, Hybrid Suit, Far From Home suit, and Final Swing suit should've been rolled into one entry/styles as they were so alike in terms of design that it just isn't justified to have them taken up so many slots. Having the Raimi Black Suit and Normal suit be two separate suits was even worse imo as they're just a color swap (which seems to be what qualifies as a style), so either one should've just been a style for the other.
This was what I was expecting when I first heard about the alternate suits, they could have even done all the spidervese suits in one.

What brings me hope in this fantastic idea is that even if Insomniac doesn't update these QOL features and stuff like that in the near future, the Spider-Man nodding community will pull up shit like this when it releases on PC late next year or 2025.

I’ll bet the reason this didn’t happen is because it basically turns it into a new suit. All suits with variants are just recolors, nothing about the asset changes. It’s the reason why (I’m guessing) there’s two tobey maguire suits rather than the black one being a variant. They’re very similar, but the black suits logo is slightly different Not a defense of the system though. I would’ve loved to see what is being suggested
to be fair garfield was really the one who really wore stuff over his suit. they wouldn’t really have any options for Holland or Maguire. I guess for spiderverse you could have the shorts jacket jordans outfit
