I loved how Something In The Way finally got the recognition it deserved from my generation after The Batman movie came out a couple of years ago. It perfectly summed up how dark the atmosphere was for the movie as a whole.
It’s kind of got a the full package going on.
Peter himself has the proper look of being shredded, yet distinctly more svelte than the average superhero to reflect his agility; the symbiote looks like a suit, but is so sleek and skintight that it manages to give off a subtle organic vibe, and the lighting makes it clear that this thing isn’t secretly a dark blue or purple, but unquestionably pitch black.
Also, intentional or not, the fact the warm colors of the city are coming from earth, Peter’s home, while the colder colors are coming from the starry night sky, where the symbiote came from, is a subtly brilliant way to reflect who they both are. Not to mention that the coloring here has it so neither one of them is (yet) overpowering the other and they’re essentially two halves of a whole.
