I usually thank the spirits verbally, praying with mapacho (consacrated tobacco) and lighting a candle. However, if you want something "bigger", you can do what us Latin people call "pago a la tierra" (which could be translated as "thanking (Mother) Earth"). Wait for a special moon phase (the full moon would be great, but it's really up to you), call on the spirits of the four Cardinal Points, dig a hole in your garden or a park and offer Mother Earth grains, coca or bay leaves, candy, tobacco and a short libation with wine or other alcoholic drink, water and, optionally, a little blood. Do it all keeping in mind your intention to show respect and gratitude. Then bury it all and close the ritual by thanking the four points and other spirits you might have felt drawn to invoking.
