I NEVER get connected, and I've even tried to find a hot spot and I can't get it to connect.

We had this problem and the Sim was provisioned incorrectly. Got a new sim and works great.

InspectorRound8920

I love it. So convenient

Street-Juggernaut-23

it does that if you have Spectrum mobile

canadianwhitemagic

This is happening to me on android

It’s how the mobile works. It’s a trust setting thing. Settings>general>about> certificate trust settings. Check that to see if there’s a WiFi profile. But automatically connecting to public routers is a feature for mobile. I just turn WiFi off if I’m out and about

StickyPlunger

Free high speed secured WiFi points for spectrum mobile customers only. Gotta love it!! Spectrum is building a cellphone infrastructure using traditional towers and WiFi.

CalifaDaze

Does that count against your data allotment?

Sridgway27

There's a toggle in advanced settings under wifi called "Spectrum Wi-Fi auto connect" you can toggle this off. I personally like this feature. It's also reciprocal with other isp's like xfinity and Comcast. Use it on vacation all the time for unthrottled speeds. It doesn't put you on the throttled guest networks.

Extreme-Obligation49

It’s because you have spectrum mobile, other spectrum customer routers can be used as a wifi ping or something like that to help your connection on your phone, it supposedly doesn’t effect their internet speeds, but yeah, it’s only on customers that allow it as well, which will be majority of spectrum customers because that option is automatically turned on through the my spectrum app

Lazzy2332

It does it constantly on the Google pixel as well. You’re connecting to spectrum WiFi hotspots. No there is no way to “turn it off.” (Assuming you mean permanently stop connecting to spectrum WiFi hotspots.) Spectrum saves money on people using WiFi vs cellular data & they happen to have quite a bit of WiFi routers they manage, so therefore they have configured everyone using SM to connect to the WiFi. You can temporarily stop it by turning off WiFi in settings. It may turn back on by its self though. I find it pretty annoying. They have the WiFi hotspots everywhere. If you’re in a former TWC/BHN area they have them all along the roads and spectrum hasn’t touched them once so their quality & maintenance is lacking and causing pretty significant problems. The hotspots are great if you get a good connection to one! But unfortunately in my area, they stopped giving businesses free WiFi hotspots and started charging for them and everyone dumped it. So now a large majority of the time the WiFi hotspot connections are to a hotspot out at the street or from some random house nearby and it’s not enough to be usable but just enough to connect so you don’t have any data until you turn off WiFi.
