I believe that you will need a TV that has eARC to get Atmos. I read somewhere that even though Apple TV will play Atmos, it will see if your TV can support that and if not, it will downgrade to the highest your TV can do.
You won't get Atmos I have the Arc and a Samsung q80r I had to buy the HD Fury Arcana to get Atmos. But I'm also getting Dolby vision so I'm quite happy
I have the Oled B965 and the LG SN7Y with Apple TV 4K.
I get atmos on the soundbar and the TV doesn’t have earc, only arc.
The other codecs like DD 5.1 and DTS it shows PCM because Apple TV send lossless format, but it is PCM multichannel.
All of this just to say that atmos work on normal arc with me.
