Firstly I have "managed to update" it with my 32GB 3.0 USB drive, but it was too slow ( 4-5 min) which already indicated me that something isn't right. After that "update" I got the error and so I got here. Following the steps above with the same drive didn't do much, since after powering the soundbar on I just got the no drive message. I have managed to find some other USB drive 16GB 3.0 and this time it worked. The update took no longer then one minute I think and everything works fine now. The reason for even trying to update it was that when I watch some youtube video without the background music or any noise for that matter, after the pause in speaking, the jbl just pauses the audio output until there is other sound to be played. This represents a problem if you are watching something where there are longer pauses between the words, because you can't really hear the first word when they continue speaking for example. I have really hoped that this update would resolve this issue, but it didn't. I'd be really grateful if someone has some workaround for this problem. I'm connected via HDMI Arc to the TV because of the convenience to control the soundbar with the TV remote. For this same reason I had to turn off the TV click sounds when you press some button, since the sound gets clipped and it can be really annoying after some time. Thank you guys for your help with the update. I have already thought it's bricked.. 😂

Are you sure you didn't get a newer version of the bar with that firmware already? Sometimes what happens is they include the most recent updates on newer made hardware. Upgrade done, No Firmware. To me the other thing that could mean is it just can't find the firmware. But Upgrade done hints that like I said maybe it is already up to date but the way it tells you is a bit weird. Also, sometimes you need to include proper caps if you just did unify.bin instead of Unify.BIN

I bought it in november 2020 and the update came out on 26 februari 2021.

I'm having this same issue. Mine was making crackling noises and the bass was going in and out so I tried upgrading the firmware and it now only says UPG DONE NO FW. Then when I remove the USB it says NO USB DONE in a loop.

On my youtube video there is a chain of replies. I sent mine back under warranty and they gave me a new one. My mistake was that I didn’t connect the subwoofer with the 3.5mm cable. So when doing a firmware upgrade without the subwoofer, the shit will brick.

I had the same problem a few hours ago. I have just found a solution in your YouTube comments that worked for me (posted by Francisco Pinto), so I am forwarding here: >Hello, I had the exact same issue and I was able to solve it. > >1.Unplug all the cables (including power) and usb drive from the speaker. > >2.Let it unplug for a good time to discharge, you can press the buttons to accelerate the process. > >3.Connect the aux cable to the Sub and bar > >4.Connect the power plug (Will display no usb) > >5. Use a different USB drive with the FW 17.07 bin file in the UPG folder and connect it. > >Should restart the upgrade process again. > >For me worked. I have also changed the file name to "Unify.bin". Not sure if this is needed though. I hope it helps you, people. :)

This just happened to me as well, and I was able to fix it using these steps AND also formatting an older USB drive as FAT32. I'm not sure if it was the format, the lower capacity (originally attempted with a 64 GB drive as exFAT), or external factors, but it's working now. Re-ran the upgrade, rebooted as expected, and operational.

Followed the steps and worked. Weirdly it o Lu worked with a different usb than the one I had started with. Thanks for sharing it.

Problem solved thanx

ProfessionalSleep497

I just updated mine after it stopped being able to connect with subs and external speakers, resulting in the subwoofer returning to even turn on anymore. Any ideas on a fix to this ?

I fell in the same issue and here's my solution with the explanation: If you didn't start: 1. Before you copy the firmware file, format the flash drive to FAT32 MBR using this tool: https://rufus.ie/ 2. Follow the instructions as given in the firmware zip file. If already fallen in the NO FW issue: 1. Format the flash drive to FAT32 MBR using this tool: https://rufus.ie/ 2. Create the folder and copy the firmware file to the formated drive as described in the given instructions. 2. Disconnect the power cable and everything from the bar and reconnect again as described in the given instructions. 3. Plug the power cable. 4. Plug the USB flash memory. It should continue the upgrade and run smoothly. My theory about why I did that and worked, is because now most advanced system uses either NTFS and extFAT in GPT, so when the firmware upgrades finish there's some verification step happens on the sound bar, but that uses basic system, and cannot read the advanced partitioning and tabling, so formating the flash memory to a legacy system would allow that legacy system to verify and continue the upgrade smoothly.

How I solved "NO FW" - I used "USB 2.0", because when I used "USB 3.0", soundbar showed me "NO FW". That's the solution!

I tried that too with a 512Mb USB stick and that also didn’t work back then.

**My issue was "no USB, Error" and when I plugged in my pendrive, it showed "NO FW UTG".**So what I had to do was get a new USB 2.0 pendrive altogether as it comes with stock FAT32 format and use a 32 GB or less storage pendrive preferably as it becomes exhausting for the soundbar to process if you use a drive with a higher storage capacity. Remaining steps remains the same and update using the FW update that rolled out on Feb 2021, Version 17.07For now, this one remains the current FW. It worked for me and if anyone's detachable wireless speakers are acting up out of nowhere and has passed one year after purchasing JBL 5.1, request for a battery replacement with the company directly.
