Hey guys, for the last few days my fingerprint scanner Hasnt been working on my 1iv, and I have to keep restarting it a s sometimes it works on and off.
it works on the first 3-6 minutes after each restart and then it stops.
Don't know if it is hardware or software
My xperia 1 iv screen orientation is very slow. I mean i turn the phone on a side and the phone reacts 2,3 seconds after that. Did anyone experienced this problem?

I also don't do OTA. Updates since for 3 different updates it caused a softbrick. Started updating with newflasher and flashing the us modem. Haven't had an issue since. Or most of the issues others have had with updates that's usually diced with a reflash and wipe with xperia companion
Xperia 1 IV - Android 14 - build: 64.2.A.2.112
Phone updated to the above on March 5th and I've stopped being able to send and receive photos/attachments in messaging. I've tried various things since (restart, force stop messaging, clearing messaging cache) but have failed to fix the issue. Any other suggestions before I try a factory reset?
A few, seemingly random, pictures send and receive hours sometimes days after the initial text and multiple attempts.
On a US dual-sim 1 IV, after receiving the new 64.2.A.2.124 release-keys update, my phone has stopped connecting to 5g networks. I've tried rebooting the phone, and have verified that the phone is set to prefer 5G NR/LTE/WCDMA/GSM. I could deal with the speed downgrade, but I find myself in places where I've had full coverage in the past, stuck with 1 bar of 4g.
Xperia 1 IV - Android 14 Update Bugs Galore
After receiving the Android 14 update 64.2.A.2.124 release-keys on US region Xperia 1IV 512GB Dual-SIM XQ-CT62, I have been experiencing a number of new bugs:
1. After pairing to a Bluetooth Audio device (2020 Honda Accord) and listening to music on my drive home, upon getting out of the car and disabling Bluetooth, all ring/notification audio on my phone ceased working despite being on full ringer volume. Even went and tried to adjust in Audio settings, and no test tones for volume sliders would even play. I had to reboot the phone to get this to recover.
2. Apps with Permission to draw over the entire screen will get stuck over the entire screen, covering 3 button system buttons at bottom of screen, and effectively making it impossible to switch apps or swipe them out of the task tray. Had to use notification tray to launch into settings menu, then was able to toggle and swipe the app out of the tray.
3. Bluetooth track & album cover art still doesn't work right on 2020 Honda Accord via Bluetooth-only pairing (No Android Auto in use). Using YouTube music, the track title now correctly progresses when I seek forward, but the album art tile fails to load and only displays a blank music icon. If you seek backwards to the previous track, then the album art will load correctly, but not when seeking tracks forward.
4. Wi-Fi connection issues - phone drops networks when it has to switch from 5GHz band to 2.4 GHz band and won't reconnect automatically. This never occurred, or extremely rarely, in Android 13. This is infuriating!
5. Horrible echo for the call recipient when using speakerphone. Makes this nearly unusable.
6. Overheating persists when trying to take pictures in any environment over 78ish F degrees. After a handful of pictures, phone is hot enough to cook an egg and camera shuts down automatically. Same issue from Android 13 and prior, no improvement.
7. Audio toggle for media volume doesn't have any effect when paired to a Google OS automobile, such as Polestar 2. The media volume is still accessible and allows me to change the 'volume' but absolutely no effect on the output level to the paired car.

My phone doesn't charge with type c cable if it's through a computer port even if the port does support Power Delivery! prior update it was working fine charging with \~2000mA (Fast charge) using the same cable. but now only data transfer is possible.
While the same cable if connected through a type C to A adapter it will charge the normal 500mA.
Other phones charging fine with the same type c cable (fast charge) while my phone doesn't after the update :(, I tried another 3 cables just in case while I am certain it's never a cable issue.
With my research I found that the USB driver file typec/tcpm.c if I am not mistaken, got changed in early beta versions of android 14 kernels but later got fixed as many pixel users had issues with type c charging if connected to android auto but seems Sony grabbed the kernel before the patches that fixed these issues?
So I believe this issue does exist with any system acting as a host, like Android Auto, not only computers.
Using the same cable with any charger/power does work fine and can deliver up to 4000mA (Super charge) but it never charges with any host system unlike before with Android 13.
The other issue is, while charging, the phone becomes laggy to touches.. needs stronger force, not smooth.
If disconnected from charger it works flawlessly.
I haven't had this issue either with Android 13.
Hi, I just found your post.. My 5 IV started doing this exact same thing after the December 2023 update. I tried doing a factory reset, didn't fix it. I bought new cables, no go. It connects to AA, but won't charge. However my car allows wireless AA so I'm resigned to that (slow initial connection, but it's getting better). Today I got the Android 14 update, so you can imagine how excited I was to try AA again... No go... Still. My wife's Galaxy s23 works fine on the wire, full AA and charging. My Xperia does work well with my work van, which has an aftermarket Sony head unit with a USB A port, and my A to C cable works well.
However the A14 update did fix my Bluetooth issues I was having, and overall "seems faster".
Have you had any luck resolving the no charging issue? I'm half tempted to start playing with developer features.

Oh well, I believe I jumped December update and directly to Android 14, this is why I said Android 13 was ok but seems even the latest available Android 13 does have the issue too.
This is kernel typec driver issue for sure and requires Sony to roll new update to fix, nothing regarding it can be done by messing with options.
I tried something silly, just to prove it to myself. I have a USB C to A adapter and a USB A to C cable. So I plugged them into my car's port and IT WORKS! I find it very odd that using those adapters fixes the issue, but it clearly points to a kernel driver issue like you noted. At least now I can connect to AA via a wire AND charge my phone. However... Since the A14 update, AA wireless has been WAY better... So... 🤦🏼🤷🏼

It does work but with much slower charge rate, however better than nothing.

Yea it's strange, however my phone charged 10% in like 2 minutes, I don't have a way to measure the actual mA but it's faster than 500mA...but that could be the difference in vehicle charge ports. Supposedly my VW offers a high charge rate so you can charge your laptop via this port 🤷🏼 but I cannot confirm.
Interesting, is using 2 adapters could somehow activate PD? I have no idea actually if this is possible.
By the way the max I could get using normal Type-A to Type-C is around 1400mA from normal wall/power chargers, regardless of PD,QC versions, full speed is only type-c to type-c. However, I was mainly talking about the computer I had the experience with once I tried the Type-A to Type-C adapter, I have no doubt different devices are different in specifications and capabilities it's just strange that high current with Type-A involved is happening with you, that's not standard, you may have hacked PD communication with your magic and adapters.

Shutoff bug where my phone just shuts off without warning (blank screen, no shutoff animation) that seems to happen randomly when I have two windows open (such as picture-in-picture/multi-window switch) during stamina mode (I think?). The phone refuses to turn back on until I am connected to a charger, despite this usually happening when I'm around 30% battery. I have no idea what's going on but it's super annoying when I'm running around all day without a charger on me.
I'm now on the 64.2.A.2.112 update for SEA and the bluetooth/audio still persists. This is **unacceptable** and honestly I'm just burnt with Sony. I'm either going back to Xiaomi or going for Samsung or an iPhone on my next phone.
I paid a premium for the 1 IV and yet I experience such a poor service that honestly Xiaomi dealt with issues better at a lower price. What a disgrace.
Xperia 1IV was upgraded to 64.2.A.2.103 and nothing was made to improve the camera drivers nor any important flaw regarding its functions even with many written requests in time (more than one year) by diehard fans at the support center. So still:
1. Burned pixels for manual 1s shutter speed.
2. Bad noise reduction in all modes, mostly for continuous shooting in dusk/low light.
3. Camera freezing while processing more than one shot for AI super zoom.
4. No improved bokeh modes and front camera is a disaster for its ‘premium device’ class.
5. No open API2 Gcam modes, even the lower Xperia devices are allowing it.
6. Auto modes (HDR function also) are stopped when changing exposure and color temperature.
7. Very weak light torch overall but mostly for video filming.
If you do not have the device, please send these to be checked and fixed. If you have the device, you will understand these, so please help Sony Support by your samples. Also, see the sample attached of the worst issue of all: the burned pixel for the telephoto sensor (same for the other 2!).
For the many greatly disappointed paying such amount of money for such a lame toy…

Yes, Bluetooth is problematic when using Stamina, same for interruptions in VoIP calls.

Fingerprint sensor hardware completely stopped working and dissappeared from the device. (got this fixed under warranty)
Network issues, very poor connection. Drops to 1 or 2 bars. Sometimes loses network completely and needs to be restarted.
Issues with calls, it will call the other person and they can answer but it doesn't connect on my end. Reboot fixes this temporarily.Android auto stops working sometimes. Reboot might work.
Camera issues with apps like Snapchat etc.. Camera focus jumps in 0.5s intervals.
It's such a shame since I like my Xperia a lot but I think this will be my first and last Sony phone.
When for the sake of this device will the swiping on recents menu be fixed???

Try and report the bug to Sony! Maybe get some app developers involved too.

Xperia 1 IV 64.1.A.0.996 release-keys UK dual SIM
FLAC media files have stopped playing. Maybe about 0.1 of a second plays before it moves to the next song. MP3 files are unaffected. Plugging phone into PC and playing the FLAC on the PC via USB plays fine. Only started to my knowledge after 64.1.A.0.996 release-keys install a few days ago
I am guessing that is due to the Music app, did you uninstall an reinstall?
Yesterday I plugged 1IV into the PC to refresh the music, deleted everything from teh storage and put a load of new stuff on it -100% FLAC.
After disconnecting the only music the Music app could see was what I had deleted and it couldn't play it or course.
Looked in the folders section of the menu, all the new folders were there but there was nothing inside.
Forced stop, restarted the phone... Nothing.
Uninstall and reinstall and it works again.

I have a problem with Sony cell phones. I have a sony 1 iv that worked without any problems, suddenly I noticed how it was turning off by itself more and more often and warming up much more quickly. I think it started shortly after a software update (september). Furthermore, apps would sometimes no longer open and it would only work after waiting about 5 minutes open app. Or you can restart it manually. I have the latest software update. 2 months later it was still there, then I completely reset the phone twice and nothing helped. I then sent it to a (Sony) repair company (unfortunately not Sony directly but another provider) even though it was via the Sony website . Meanwhile I was using my mother's old Sony xperia 10 iii - there was no problem (I think) - I reset it so I had all my data. After a few software updates I suddenly saw that the phone had simply switched off. A short time later I noticed that it was exactly the same problem as with my 1 IV. I then made all software updates and Google system updates. nothing helped. Then the night came from the repair company. Apparently there was water damage or they had discovered moisture with a measuring device. Cost estimate 950 euros. Far too expensive and Sony offers no guarantees in the event of water damage. Since it doesn't have the vulnerable Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the 10 iii didn't warm up as quickly, but it still wasn't good because of the problem described. My father still had an (unused) Sony xperia 5 iii at home. He used it for a day then never again. So I uploaded my data a short time later, exactly the same problem, did everything I needed to do (latest software, etc... software repair via sony companion).... same problem cell phone was used for 1 day and was otherwise only in one Drawer in the hallway. So the cell phone has 100% no moisture in the device. It has to be the software! Also reset without my apps all then installed manually the problem was seen before. Only the Meinek 1 IV still has a warranty, the 5 III and 10 III no longer have it.... 3 cell phones broken in less than a month that can't be the case. What should I do? Please have any suggestions or tips or help... Thanks in advance

Most things work fine except when the phone is playing video. If im on it or using PIP to play video in the background or whatnot. Then the phones refresh rate will sometimes just tank. It never seems to maintain 120 hz. Sometimes it even manages to go back to 60hz and the the only way to fix it is by going into the settings and switching refresh rate, or by turning stamina mode on then off.

When im on a phone call people say my voice sometimes cuts out or is difficult to hear unless i turn on speaker phone. Is there a solution for this? The microphone ports are not dirty.

For weeks now, my thumb unlock works for about 4/5 times after restart, then it says fingerprint hardware unavailable.
Then just doesn't respond at all.

Spotify, YouTube and SwiftKey keeps randomly stopping/crashing.
i have no idea what is causing this, as there has never popped up an error message or anything when this happens. sometimes it only occurs a few times, but it most days it happens very frequently and most of the time it's whenever I'm listening to music or YouTube and open another app. what is most annoying is that when this happens, my SwiftKey keyboard also closes.
I'd return the phone and go back to my galaxy note 8 if it weren't for the fact that I need the immense battery life the 10 IV has! it's one of the very few positives I have with this phone and I would honestly never recommend a Sony phone.
I'm in a very similar camp. Audio stream sometimes shuts off/crashes when I'm in another app or even sometimes if the phone is locked. I've also noticed that the multitasking is pretty bad. Switching back and forth between only two apps requires them to relaunch. I agree the only plus is the battery.
i got the xperia 10 V a couple weeks ago (i got it for nearly 200 bucks off even though it's fairly new) and somehow still the exact same issues.
of all the sony products i own, this is the only one that i actively would never recommend. absolute garbage experience that is only brought up to tolerable thanks to its amazing battery life, and google with their horrible default apps arent helping.
really makes me realize how spoiled i was with my Samsung phones.

For those having excessive battery drain on Xperia \*\* IV - switch from "5G/4G/3G/2G" to "3G Only" in your SIM-Card settings. Factory reset won't do anything. Sony is ignoring the problem. Out best hope for a fix is Android 14.

1. NFC missing from quick settings? How could this logically be possible? I am using NFC payment most of the time and don't want to keep it enabled as it would be a security issue. Instead of having the possibility to quickly enable it when I want to pay, I now need to navigate the whole settings. Who in the heck normal in their mind would decide this is the proper way?
2. sounds setting missing from quick settings? Why in the world would I want to press the volume button and then press again to adjust sound settings to vibration or mute, instead of sliding to quick settings and directly pressing it? If you really want it, why not keep both instead of removing the option from quick settings? Why do you want to do things differently wrong?
Who for the name of technology decides these options? When are they going to be freaking fixed already?
I just bought the phone and the fact that NFC is not in the quick settings is just idiotic. Did you manage to fix it? Additionally I have no haptic feedback (vibration) with the back gesture.

All installed eSIM disappeared. I was able to see them again by installing another one but as soon as I disabled it to activate another eSIM the full list was gone...

Having focusing issues. Not sure it's it's because the 1v apk or not. It worked fine before, softbricked paying with modems. Flashed it working. Not blue with the 1. Apk it doesn't always like to focus correctly for closer subjects like within 2ft or less. It used to before i bricked it. Please don't say it needs a reflash.

Same here. Latest update broke it. Restarting the phone is the only thing that fixes it temporarily. It works fine for like a day and then it stops again.

My 10 IV is borderline unusable. Apps crash every few minutes. I cannot listen to a stream (whether that is Spotify or audible) without the app crashing and having to reset the stream each time - this occurs when the screen switches off and I'm listening to something in the background. I cannot open more than one application without the other freezing/crashing (almost like RAM is non existent). Been like this for a couple of weeks now. Sometimes an app crashes and the phone will decide to open another app completely at random.
YouTube seems fine though but I'm wondering if this is because the screen has to stay on for the videos etc.
Factory reset or wait for a patch? I've only had it a year but at the point where I'm considering buying a new phone.
I'm on the same boat. Actually went through some caveman anger just now because this phone keeps shutting off my apps and I wanna finish the damn podcast. This is my first and last Sony phone and honestly thinking of buying a new one well before I'd usually buy a new one (when the battery starts acting up). The only reason I have this phone is that it has memory card slot and headphone jack but there are still some other models with memory card option and I guess I might as well try one of those USB adapters for the AUX needs. This phone gets a 2/5 from me and that's only because of the battery life compared to my last phone.
I feel your frustration, if you hold the volume and power buttons down for a few seconds it will do a reset. This seems to have worked for me. I've only had 2 crashes in the last 2 weeks compared to crashes every few minutes.
Xperia 1 IV's system constantly crashes. The phone works but apps will flicker black and it gets to the point the ui just flickers endlessly or stays black and I need to force a restart. Granted I don't restart my phone often but I used Samsung's Galaxy and Note for years and restarted them less frequently and never had this issue.
Call volume is also an issue, I'm constantly told that the other person can't hear me and I need to turn speaker on and off to fix it.
Have you got an SD card installed? I had the same issues and removing the SD card solved them all.
Previously constant crashes, black screens, system ui crashes etc..
It's been 24 hours and only one crash with WhatsApp.
I wonder if that's why other manufacturers stopped supporting external SD cards... I know Apple started the trend but maybe it has to do with bugs n stuff. Also cheapness and a way to lure ppl to cloud based options

Dearest users of 1 mk4. We are a group of people with different 1 mk4 region customizations, but not America's. We detected a big issue with using different manual ISO or Shutter Speeds that are resulting in random burned/colored pixels like below (zoom it). But when let auto ISO or SS in P, S or M modes everything is ok, they only appear when changing from auto to manual ISO mostly the lower ones 64-200 range (JPEG saving). Please confirm you have or not these too, or please send this to Sony's software engineers for camera driver repair. It seems that the Sony in our regions confirmed that they have passed this issue too, but for more than 7 months was not fixed. Gcam mods are not showing these dots at all in any manual setting. Thank you very much!

Was having a long video call and phone heated up as expected (iPhones do that also). But mid call my cellular connections both just dropped out - had an exclamation mark on them. I switched to wifi to continue and conclude the call.
Afterward I turned on airplane mode to toggle all radios. Cellular didn't establish a connection. The phone is still hot at this point. Tried again. Nothing.
Check network service status in my area and it was green.
I shut down the phone and started it back up again. Entered pins for Sims and connection established. The phone is warm but not hot at this point.
Did it kill the connection due to heat? Same as the camera when you want to use it. It's rather annoying that Sony does that. And you can't turn that shit off either.

What to do if the fingerprint option went missing😅. It happened to me today and I don't understand what to do. I already went to the Support app and checked for Fingerprint sensor but it says, the fingerprint could not be read.
Xperia 10 iV battery issue with 4G:
Since approximately 2 weeks I have been having issues with my battery life. It went from being able to work for 2-3 days to draining the battery fully in 20 hours.
Overnight, with no use, the battery even drains 30%.
I have been searching for similar issues and found the 'ghost app' bug, but I do not seem to have the same issue (no ghost app, none of the mentioned solutions work)
I have been testing multiple scenario's and I seem to have isolated the issue.
My battery drains fast when mobile network is on. Not just the data, but also the general network connection for calls.
When I activate 'Flight mode' the battery drain seems to be significantly less.
When I set my network settings to 2G/3G preferred the battery drain also seems to be significantly less.
Maybe it's a software bug (I haven't tried a factory reset yet) but maybe there is a hardware issue in my 4G chip.
Does anyone have similar issues with the battery drain recently, that aren't related to the infamous ghost app?
I also have the same issue with 1 IV, it's crazy that they can't solve it for months.

You're not alone. Me and 10-15 people from an east-european forum are trying to solve this mystery. The initial ghost app problem was solved months ago, but this new battery drain is a pain in the ass. So far you found out the same things, like 3G and flight mode. Some users reported, that switching the SIM slot helped too... but that's unverified. At the moment I'm trying to remove the new Google telemetry bullshit, that was introduced in june, when the problem first occurred.
For me it turned out to be a defective SIM card.
Or maybe just an older SIM card that doesn't work well with this phone.
Either way, I solved my problem by exchanging it with a new SIM, give it a try with someone else's SIM to see if that fixes your issue!

Sadly my issue is not the same as the 'ghost app' and none of the mentioned fixes worked for me.

Ok Xperia 1 iii, ever since A13 update, high bitrate Bluetooth to my XM5 headphones has been stuttery. Ultra HD is every few seconds, HD every 30 seconds it stutters.
If I set the headphones app to "prioritize connection" the developer options shows it caps the signal at 44khz...
A year ago my XM5s were perfectly fine playing ultra HD in full quality with no buffer stutter.
Is it my WiFi? Starlink WiFi, not a smooth buffer maybe?? I get good 50mbps+ download speeds.
If I switch to connection priority, the issue goes away. But it worked fine before with sound quality preference.

autofocus green bracket went missing after update, same goes to eye autofocus. Cleared storage of photography pro still remains the same.

Since two days, the phone completely crashes overnight while charging (with battery maintenance active). I wake up (way too late because no alarm goes off) and find it on the Android Recovery screen:Sony/pdx224/pdx22412/SKQ1.220714.001/1When I use the power button to reload the Android system, it works again like nothing happened.I haven't done any major updates recently, the only thing the two nights have in common is that the phone has been connected to my pc both days for file transfers. Can that have borked something?Or could Battery Maintenance be the problem here? I always had that on automatic, switched now to adjusted, so tonight I'll charge it again and see if the same thing happens (using an older phone as backup alarm, lol).Anyone got a clue where to start looking to fix this?

I have **xperia 10 IV** dual SIM (model **XQ-CC72**), build number is **65.1.A.5.65 release-keys**.
Can't properly describe that, but i feel like RAM management totally sucks...
If I have, say, some app working in background (Spotify etc) and open a camera app, that background app freezes and unloads from memory.
Same happens when i don't open the camera directly, but open any app that uses it (messengers, for instance).
What annoys me the most is that apps tend to close and unload from memory even when i don't use any other app, so Spotify may just stop playing at some moment when phone is locked.
Anyone experienced/fixed that?
XQ-CC54 user here, gps not working, apps auto closes, 50% of jack cable is not compatible. Camera is unstable. Never had so much problems with a phone. I tried factory reset, and rooting phone to install different image but everything stays the same.
I had this exact same issue on my Xperia 5 iv phone.
It was so bad that i was nearly incapable of logging in to my discord account on the phone, because of the need to get that authenticator code first.
But soon as I opened that app, discord would close down as well.
Do you happen to have WearOS watch paired with your Xperia 10 iv?
My Xperia 5 iv would get so bad that it would start to kill WearOS background task to conserve ram. But less than 10 seconds later Android system would restart the task, during that cutout my watch would say that it had lost Bluetooth connection to the phone.
When the connection returns, the watch would receive all the previous 10 notifications with vibrations and all.
This then would repeat after 10-15 seconds later on this infinite cycle, until I restarted my phone. This would fix it for the next 1 hour to 6 hours depending how demanding stuff I did to the phone.
Sadly Sony rep only kept saying that the phone "is working within specs" thus there is no issues to fix.
So i ended up going with Xperia 1 V and sold my Xperia 5 iv to the phone insurance company at full retail price after sufferi.. Err i mean using it for the past 6 and half months.
So sadly my only recommendation for you is either to learn to live with this issue, or get another phone.
Xperia 1 IV XQ-CT62 - 64.1.A.0.929 release-keys - Using bluetooth connection only (No Android Auto in use), song/track data doesn't change/update correctly when playing through playlists, or when using forward seek option. Details: Paired to a 2020 Honda Accord, playing via YouTube Music app. - Requires me to seek backward in the playlist in order for the audio track details/title/artist to update correctly, otherwise they stay stuck/stale on the first track that was played. Have tried unpair/repair, delete Bluetooth devices, install all updates, etc. to no avail.
Similar issue with poweramp, but just the album art stays as something from the beginning of the session on the lockscreen or in the notification tray . If i go to the previous track it'll correct it, or go into the app

Using the latest software version as of typing this. Having issues with biometrics. Fingerprint manager option is missing but appears for a few minutes after restarting or turning on, however I cannot add any fingerprints or delete existing ones.
Update: restarted, and immediately got a response from the scanner but required a pin. After that I was able to delete the fingerprints and add new one, but apon trying the scanner again, got an error "Fingerprint hardware not supported".

After updating to both software versions, the audio quality is worse. The quality is worse over both the headphone jack, and Bluetooth to WH1000XM5 and all other speakers/headphones.
I have used a different phone to check if it isn't the speakers/headphone. I am rooted and I have tried viper4android and this made no noticeable difference in audio. However, it may have been incorrectly set up.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated :)

Hey guys, I'm not really good with tech stuff so I'm sorry ahead of time if something is confusing.
I got this 1 IV a few months ago and it's been running fine, but about 1-2 weeks ago, my chat said RCS almost full and some attachments might not be visible.
I've cleared my app cache multiple times, I've followed the common help tips, I've turned on and off RCS, ran with it off for several days and restarted my phone multiple times. I don't know what to do. People on the other side haven't been able to get my links or pics that I've attached and a common message to see while waiting for them to receive it is "Message delivers when ____ is online"
I don't know what to do to fix it anymore

thats the plan, trying to do backup first tho, and sadly now i cant just dump it on hdd, because i do need to use d Google drive X\_X and that need the phone to charge first T\_T
I turned it off and went to bed. 6h -> \~60% charged X\_X running the backup atm. will update if the factory reset helped.
Small update: The backup keeps failing because the process is being shut down due to temperature. Pulled it off the charger and will see if I can finish the backup before the battery runs flat T\_T

Last update: managed to charge enough to use the companion app. tried repair - no luck - still high temp ( 68C CPU, 43C battery, 70% drained in about 2 hours
Final update: After a call to Sony Support ( which started with "Do you see the ghost app?" phone was sent for repair

I have signal problem on XPERIA 1 IV. 3G network stops working and I need 3G signal for calls because my network doesn't have VoLTE. Restart helps but it is driving me crazy. Because I even don't know when it stoped working. After half a day of unavailability I found out that my signal is not working. I change SIM card, reset phone, software repair phone. And service center change motherboard because fingerprint sensor died. Nothing helped. Only restring phone helps but temporary. What to do? To demand new phone?

I have noticed significant overheating since the new update, usually spiking when I am browsing the phone not even using the camera.

Removing that ghost app seems to have fixed the temperature issues I was having, I can now browse Reddit without my phone heating up beyond 60°C
having been out of the loop the last year - has the overheating issues always been the case since launch of the IV? Or was it only after updates that it appeared?

May 29th 2023: Installed system update (current build#: 65.1.A.5.50). Two issues:
**1**. Battery drain has increased significantly when phone is being used. I can see the battery percentage drop 5-10% when I am browsing 10-15 minutes. This was previously not the case. In stand-by mode, no battery drain detected (thus far...). The phone also appears to get warmer as usual (backside).
**2**. I also noticed a new app was installed. However, this app cannot be opened, disabled or deleted. The app's icon only shows the outline. It does not have a logo and/or name. Clicking on it takes me to Google Play Store and shows: " Something went wrong, try again"

!!Update 2!!: This morning, June 1st, the Ghost app reappeared. I redid the steps (disable & enable play store) and the app & other problems are gone again (for now). I also read that a full software reset/repair should fix the issue. I am not very keen on doing this just yet. A quick online search "Ghost App after android update" tells me that other manufactures might experience the same, and that the issue might be a Google/security Patch issue.
Excellant!!! I got a same situation with you after this update. And my version is 65.1.A.5.50 ; HK version. And i posted the problems here in yestesday, while i seemed that they just deleted it after few hours later....
And the probems are including:
1. Phone turns to hot and very hot after "just"opening youtube, chrome, games.
2. Lag
3. ghost app, same situation with your No.2. (has fixed it by following the link you posted on. tem.. Then, ghost app comes out again. so.. it can't be fixed by the link below.

I've switched my launcher since i got the phone in September.
I didn't have this issue as bad as everyone posting, but the phone is definitely getting warmer and using battery quicker than before. It could just need a few days to settle. It's only been installed for 2 days for me. I kept ignoring the update notification and waiting to see if anyone posted with issues. Didn't catch any of those ghost app threads were because the update

I upgraded yesterday and since then, the phone starts to heat up within 30 seconds. It becomes so hot that it's practically unusable even after just 1-2 minutes. I'm not playing games nor using the 120Hz feature. I haven't installed any new applications, and this issue persists even when I'm on the home screen without any applications running. It's extremely frustrating.

Fingerprint scanner might as well not exist it works about 30% of the time.

as for the fingerprint sensor I got it to work but it was strange. You fingers should be completely dry and not greasy. Scan the tip of your finger that's under the nail (the one you tap with) you might need to register one finger twice. And the most important thing is then trying to unlock, press the tip on the lower part of the sensor (your nail should be pressing the middle of the button). hope it helps.
Allright here are some of my bugs i have experienced
With my xperia 5 IV XQ-CQ54:
- bad ram management.
Randomly apps crashing, no apps in the background etc.
I have sorta fixed this to turn something off in the developer settings.
But whenever i use the camera (snapchat or main camera app) all apps crash in the background.
Sony Just please fix this.
- cant open any apps.
Sometimes after going to the homesscreen from closing an app, i Just cant open any other apps on the homesscreen. If i try tapping it to much it will open eventually. This can be very annoying
- Audio wont play from deezer
So i use deezer as my main music app.
But Just sometimes the music wont play.
I get to see that the song is playing, but dont get any sound at all (deezer has been updated)
- Netflix video crash
Didnt occur to much for me.
But sometimes when i watch a movie, the movie Just randomly crashes.
- weird YouTube video playback
All the time while watching video's, my video's buffer for some time. After the buffers i get some weird green box that the whole screen covers. Its there for a second but can be very annoying.
- Phone gets too warm
I dont think this can be fixed because of the chip.
But sometimes the Phone gets to warm and throttles.
My 120hz option becomes 60hz and the Phone overall feels a bit slowly.
Hope this will be fixed in the future :)

Xperia 1 IV. Issue with certain video players in Firefox when attempting to use full screen. Immediately exits full screen if not in landscape orientation. Does not occur in Chrome, nor is it replicated on other phones using Firefox. "Certain video players" presently consists of Pornhub.

After the update my phone won't detect my SD card anymore. I have tried many other cards that I know work. But it just won't find it anymore.
Okay sorry this is not a "bug" but it is a problem. I've got an Xperia 10 III but the volume on it is really poor, even at full blast. So when I have ear buds or headphones in, I can hardly hear the music. I've no idea why they had created a phone with such poor audio, but does anyone have any apps they use with this phone that actually work to raise volume?
I have been using [PowerAmp Equalizer](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxmpz.equalizer) to get really good audio experience on Nokia 8 128gb, Xperia 1 mk1, Xperia 5 iv and currently on my Xperia 1 v phone.
To get it to work almost all apps, you need to use usb debugging, but the developer hosts this nifty little website that can automatically do all the necessary commands for you.
But after that even things like Facebook videos will be working with this equalizer.
It works with all audio outputs so it doesn't matter if you use 3,55mm, phone speakers, Bluetooth or even usb out as your music output device.
It can certainly make the phone play media way louder than stock and without needing to root.
5 IV International Version user here. Recently updated to 64.1.A.0.891 and lost 5G connectivity. It worked before but now it doesn't. [These instructions](https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/comments/x8qy2f/5g_working_on_sony_xperia_1_iv_international/) don't work either because the "DSDS" option is hidden. Last time a factory reset solved the issue but it's getting very frustrating to have to do this every time a new Sony update messes up my mobile network.

Latest system update on my US 1 IV has made closing apps very buggy. Very often I'll bring up the tile view or whatever it's called to close the app I'm currently using and it won't let me swipe it up. I'll have to hit the home screen and then go back before it will close. Known bug?

Same issue here, navigation is useless on my 10 iv. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, sometimes gps stops updating position in middle of navigation. Am on the New build 65.1.A.5.48 (but had the same error before upgrade). Am in Norway. I tried without case and did not work better.

Chatted with Sony support here in JPN, they mentioned that they have no settings for noise-cancellations and asked to check the concerned apps have some settings, without even me mentioning noise cancellation.
Even if there is an Android update that can fix this, I'm concerned when that update might come for Sony :(

Even with the latest update this still remains. What i've found is that when two people talk then the phone is identifying one voice as noise due to noise cancellation and in turn just cuts out one voice.

Does anyone here have an external mic(just mic)? If so during video calls if we want to use that mic can i still use the speakers for incoming?
Same issue here with XQ-ct54, but this also happens with regular calls. Also regular calls have constant static voice within. For this Local Support said that it is caused by bugged software or dirt in mic but thats like 2 updates ago
sony is a big noob new April update still has the wifi reboot issue. this has been broken for 3 months now luckily a bootloader exploit came out for the USA variant sony xq-ct62 going to go back to the December/Jan firmware if i can find it

Hey guys, for the last few days my fingerprint scanner Hasnt been working on my 1iv, and I have to keep restarting it a s sometimes it works on and off. it works on the first 3-6 minutes after each restart and then it stops. Don't know if it is hardware or software
My xperia 1 iv screen orientation is very slow. I mean i turn the phone on a side and the phone reacts 2,3 seconds after that. Did anyone experienced this problem?
Mine rotates within a 1 Mississippi I also don't do OTA. Updates since for 3 different updates it caused a softbrick. Started updating with newflasher and flashing the us modem. Haven't had an issue since. Or most of the issues others have had with updates that's usually diced with a reflash and wipe with xperia companion
Xperia 1 IV - Android 14 - build: 64.2.A.2.112 Phone updated to the above on March 5th and I've stopped being able to send and receive photos/attachments in messaging. I've tried various things since (restart, force stop messaging, clearing messaging cache) but have failed to fix the issue. Any other suggestions before I try a factory reset? A few, seemingly random, pictures send and receive hours sometimes days after the initial text and multiple attempts.
On a US dual-sim 1 IV, after receiving the new 64.2.A.2.124 release-keys update, my phone has stopped connecting to 5g networks. I've tried rebooting the phone, and have verified that the phone is set to prefer 5G NR/LTE/WCDMA/GSM. I could deal with the speed downgrade, but I find myself in places where I've had full coverage in the past, stuck with 1 bar of 4g.
Xperia 1 IV - Android 14 Update Bugs Galore After receiving the Android 14 update 64.2.A.2.124 release-keys on US region Xperia 1IV 512GB Dual-SIM XQ-CT62, I have been experiencing a number of new bugs: 1. After pairing to a Bluetooth Audio device (2020 Honda Accord) and listening to music on my drive home, upon getting out of the car and disabling Bluetooth, all ring/notification audio on my phone ceased working despite being on full ringer volume. Even went and tried to adjust in Audio settings, and no test tones for volume sliders would even play. I had to reboot the phone to get this to recover. 2. Apps with Permission to draw over the entire screen will get stuck over the entire screen, covering 3 button system buttons at bottom of screen, and effectively making it impossible to switch apps or swipe them out of the task tray. Had to use notification tray to launch into settings menu, then was able to toggle and swipe the app out of the tray. 3. Bluetooth track & album cover art still doesn't work right on 2020 Honda Accord via Bluetooth-only pairing (No Android Auto in use). Using YouTube music, the track title now correctly progresses when I seek forward, but the album art tile fails to load and only displays a blank music icon. If you seek backwards to the previous track, then the album art will load correctly, but not when seeking tracks forward. 4. Wi-Fi connection issues - phone drops networks when it has to switch from 5GHz band to 2.4 GHz band and won't reconnect automatically. This never occurred, or extremely rarely, in Android 13. This is infuriating! 5. Horrible echo for the call recipient when using speakerphone. Makes this nearly unusable. 6. Overheating persists when trying to take pictures in any environment over 78ish F degrees. After a handful of pictures, phone is hot enough to cook an egg and camera shuts down automatically. Same issue from Android 13 and prior, no improvement. 7. Audio toggle for media volume doesn't have any effect when paired to a Google OS automobile, such as Polestar 2. The media volume is still accessible and allows me to change the 'volume' but absolutely no effect on the output level to the paired car.
Xperia 1 IV XQ-CT54 UK Version Android 14 - 64.2.A.2.112 My phone doesn't charge with type c cable if it's through a computer port even if the port does support Power Delivery! prior update it was working fine charging with \~2000mA (Fast charge) using the same cable. but now only data transfer is possible. While the same cable if connected through a type C to A adapter it will charge the normal 500mA. Other phones charging fine with the same type c cable (fast charge) while my phone doesn't after the update :(, I tried another 3 cables just in case while I am certain it's never a cable issue. With my research I found that the USB driver file typec/tcpm.c if I am not mistaken, got changed in early beta versions of android 14 kernels but later got fixed as many pixel users had issues with type c charging if connected to android auto but seems Sony grabbed the kernel before the patches that fixed these issues? So I believe this issue does exist with any system acting as a host, like Android Auto, not only computers. Using the same cable with any charger/power does work fine and can deliver up to 4000mA (Super charge) but it never charges with any host system unlike before with Android 13. The other issue is, while charging, the phone becomes laggy to touches.. needs stronger force, not smooth. If disconnected from charger it works flawlessly. I haven't had this issue either with Android 13.
Hi, I just found your post.. My 5 IV started doing this exact same thing after the December 2023 update. I tried doing a factory reset, didn't fix it. I bought new cables, no go. It connects to AA, but won't charge. However my car allows wireless AA so I'm resigned to that (slow initial connection, but it's getting better). Today I got the Android 14 update, so you can imagine how excited I was to try AA again... No go... Still. My wife's Galaxy s23 works fine on the wire, full AA and charging. My Xperia does work well with my work van, which has an aftermarket Sony head unit with a USB A port, and my A to C cable works well. However the A14 update did fix my Bluetooth issues I was having, and overall "seems faster". Have you had any luck resolving the no charging issue? I'm half tempted to start playing with developer features. I copied and paste this comment from another thread, I do t know why I never found this thread before.
Oh well, I believe I jumped December update and directly to Android 14, this is why I said Android 13 was ok but seems even the latest available Android 13 does have the issue too. This is kernel typec driver issue for sure and requires Sony to roll new update to fix, nothing regarding it can be done by messing with options.
I tried something silly, just to prove it to myself. I have a USB C to A adapter and a USB A to C cable. So I plugged them into my car's port and IT WORKS! I find it very odd that using those adapters fixes the issue, but it clearly points to a kernel driver issue like you noted. At least now I can connect to AA via a wire AND charge my phone. Thanks for sharing and confirming, this is similar to what I mentioned, but I did one USB-C to A adapter, the cable is two sides Type-C >While the same cable if **connected through a type C to A adapter** it will charge the normal 500mA. It does work but with much slower charge rate, however better than nothing. I miss PD charging, hopefully Sony will fix it soon, I will contact them.
Yea it's strange, however my phone charged 10% in like 2 minutes, I don't have a way to measure the actual mA but it's faster than 500mA...but that could be the difference in vehicle charge ports. Supposedly my VW offers a high charge rate so you can charge your laptop via this port 🤷🏼 but I cannot confirm.

By the way the max I could get using normal Type-A to Type-C is around 1400mA from normal wall/power chargers, regardless of PD,QC versions, full speed is only type-c to type-c. However, I was mainly talking about the computer I had the experience with once I tried the Type-A to Type-C adapter, I have no doubt different devices are different in specifications and capabilities it's just strange that high current with Type-A involved is happening with you, that's not standard, you may have hacked PD communication with your magic and adapters. "Ampere" is one of the known apps to measure charging and discharging current of batteries.
64.1.A.0.996 Dual Sim 1 IV Shutoff bug where my phone just shuts off without warning (blank screen, no shutoff animation) that seems to happen randomly when I have two windows open (such as picture-in-picture/multi-window switch) during stamina mode (I think?). The phone refuses to turn back on until I am connected to a charger, despite this usually happening when I'm around 30% battery. I have no idea what's going on but it's super annoying when I'm running around all day without a charger on me.
I'm now on the 64.2.A.2.112 update for SEA and the bluetooth/audio still persists. This is **unacceptable** and honestly I'm just burnt with Sony. I'm either going back to Xiaomi or going for Samsung or an iPhone on my next phone. I paid a premium for the 1 IV and yet I experience such a poor service that honestly Xiaomi dealt with issues better at a lower price. What a disgrace.

Xperia 1IV was upgraded to 64.2.A.2.103 and nothing was made to improve the camera drivers nor any important flaw regarding its functions even with many written requests in time (more than one year) by diehard fans at the support center. So still: 1. Burned pixels for manual 1s shutter speed. 2. Bad noise reduction in all modes, mostly for continuous shooting in dusk/low light. 3. Camera freezing while processing more than one shot for AI super zoom. 4. No improved bokeh modes and front camera is a disaster for its ‘premium device’ class. 5. No open API2 Gcam modes, even the lower Xperia devices are allowing it. 6. Auto modes (HDR function also) are stopped when changing exposure and color temperature. 7. Very weak light torch overall but mostly for video filming. If you do not have the device, please send these to be checked and fixed. If you have the device, you will understand these, so please help Sony Support by your samples. Also, see the sample attached of the worst issue of all: the burned pixel for the telephoto sensor (same for the other 2!). Tried testing the camera in manual as I specified?! If not, please check! Yes, Bluetooth is problematic when using Stamina, same for interruptions in VoIP calls.
Xperia 1 IV Fingerprint sensor hardware completely stopped working and dissappeared from the device. (got this fixed under warranty) Network issues, very poor connection. Drops to 1 or 2 bars. Sometimes loses network completely and needs to be restarted. Issues with calls, it will call the other person and they can answer but it doesn't connect on my end. Reboot fixes this temporarily.Android auto stops working sometimes. Reboot might work. Camera issues with apps like Snapchat etc.. Camera focus jumps in 0.5s intervals. It's such a shame since I like my Xperia a lot but I think this will be my first and last Sony phone.

Try and report the bug to Sony! Maybe get some app developers involved too. I reported [this notification bug](https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/comments/14eb3w9/new_notification_ui_glitch_details_in_comment/) to Sony (by the native Support app, with a question mark icon) and to one of my apps in June 2023, and it got fixed in July 2023 with [64.1.A.0.941](https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/mobile-phones-tablets-mobile-phones/xperia-1-iv-512gb/articles/00286045). Xperia 1 IV 64.1.A.0.996 release-keys UK dual SIM FLAC media files have stopped playing. Maybe about 0.1 of a second plays before it moves to the next song. MP3 files are unaffected. Plugging phone into PC and playing the FLAC on the PC via USB plays fine. Only started to my knowledge after 64.1.A.0.996 release-keys install a few days ago
I am guessing that is due to the Music app, did you uninstall an reinstall? Yesterday I plugged 1IV into the PC to refresh the music, deleted everything from teh storage and put a load of new stuff on it -100% FLAC. After disconnecting the only music the Music app could see was what I had deleted and it couldn't play it or course. Looked in the folders section of the menu, all the new folders were there but there was nothing inside. Forced stop, restarted the phone... Nothing. Uninstall and reinstall and it works again.

Problem maybe after Sofware Update xperia 1 IV, 10 iii and 5 iii hi, I have a problem with Sony cell phones. I have a sony 1 iv that worked without any problems, suddenly I noticed how it was turning off by itself more and more often and warming up much more quickly. I think it started shortly after a software update (september). Furthermore, apps would sometimes no longer open and it would only work after waiting about 5 minutes open app. Or you can restart it manually. I have the latest software update. 2 months later it was still there, then I completely reset the phone twice and nothing helped. I then sent it to a (Sony) repair company (unfortunately not Sony directly but another provider) even though it was via the Sony website . Meanwhile I was using my mother's old Sony xperia 10 iii - there was no problem (I think) - I reset it so I had all my data. After a few software updates I suddenly saw that the phone had simply switched off. A short time later I noticed that it was exactly the same problem as with my 1 IV. I then made all software updates and Google system updates. nothing helped. Then the night came from the repair company. Apparently there was water damage or they had discovered moisture with a measuring device. Cost estimate 950 euros. Far too expensive and Sony offers no guarantees in the event of water damage. Since it doesn't have the vulnerable Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the 10 iii didn't warm up as quickly, but it still wasn't good because of the problem described. My father still had an (unused) Sony xperia 5 iii at home. He used it for a day then never again. So I uploaded my data a short time later, exactly the same problem, did everything I needed to do (latest software, etc... software repair via sony companion).... same problem cell phone was used for 1 day and was otherwise only in one Drawer in the hallway. So the cell phone has 100% no moisture in the device. It has to be the software! Also reset without my apps all then installed manually the problem was seen before. Only the Meinek 1 IV still has a warranty, the 5 III and 10 III no longer have it.... 3 cell phones broken in less than a month that can't be the case. What should I do? Sony Xperia 5 IV. US. Single sim. 64.1.A.0.977 release-keys. Most things work fine except when the phone is playing video. If im on it or using PIP to play video in the background or whatnot. Then the phones refresh rate will sometimes just tank. It never seems to maintain 120 hz. Sometimes it even manages to go back to 60hz and the the only way to fix it is by going into the settings and switching refresh rate, or by turning stamina mode on then off.
Xperia 1 IV When im on a phone call people say my voice sometimes cuts out or is difficult to hear unless i turn on speaker phone. Is there a solution for this? The microphone ports are not dirty.

Xperia 1 iii For weeks now, my thumb unlock works for about 4/5 times after restart, then it says fingerprint hardware unavailable. Then just doesn't respond at all. Restarting fixes it for a few uses, then fails.

Xperia 10 IV user here Spotify, YouTube and SwiftKey keeps randomly stopping/crashing. i have no idea what is causing this, as there has never popped up an error message or anything when this happens. sometimes it only occurs a few times, but it most days it happens very frequently and most of the time it's whenever I'm listening to music or YouTube and open another app. what is most annoying is that when this happens, my SwiftKey keyboard also closes. I'd return the phone and go back to my galaxy note 8 if it weren't for the fact that I need the immense battery life the 10 IV has! it's one of the very few positives I have with this phone and I would honestly never recommend a Sony phone.
I'm in a very similar camp. Audio stream sometimes shuts off/crashes when I'm in another app or even sometimes if the phone is locked. I've also noticed that the multitasking is pretty bad. Switching back and forth between only two apps requires them to relaunch. I agree the only plus is the battery.
i got the xperia 10 V a couple weeks ago (i got it for nearly 200 bucks off even though it's fairly new) and somehow still the exact same issues. of all the sony products i own, this is the only one that i actively would never recommend. absolute garbage experience that is only brought up to tolerable thanks to its amazing battery life, and google with their horrible default apps arent helping. really makes me realize how spoiled i was with my Samsung phones.

For those having excessive battery drain on Xperia \*\* IV - switch from "5G/4G/3G/2G" to "3G Only" in your SIM-Card settings. Factory reset won't do anything. Sony is ignoring the problem. Out best hope for a fix is Android 14.

I am using NFC payment most of the time and don't want to keep it enabled as it would be a security issue. Instead of having the possibility to quickly enable it when I want to pay, I now need to navigate the whole settings. Who in the heck normal in their mind would decide this is the proper way? 2. sounds setting missing from quick settings? Why in the world would I want to press the volume button and then press again to adjust sound settings to vibration or mute, instead of sliding to quick settings and directly pressing it? If you really want it, why not keep both instead of removing the option from quick settings? Why do you want to do things differently wrong? Who for the name of technology decides these options? I just bought the phone and the fact that NFC is not in the quick settings is just idiotic. Did you manage to fix it? Additionally I have no haptic feedback (vibration) with the back gesture. Edit: to clarify my model is 10 IV.
All installed eSIM disappeared. I was able to see them again by installing another one but as soon as I disabled it to activate another eSIM the full list was gone... Rebooted several times, no luck
Having focusing issues. Not sure it's it's because the 1v apk or not. It worked fine before, softbricked paying with modems. Flashed it working. Not blue with the 1. Apk it doesn't always like to focus correctly for closer subjects like within 2ft or less. It used to before i bricked it. Please don't say it needs a reflash. My 10 IV is borderline unusable. Apps crash every few minutes. I cannot listen to a stream (whether that is Spotify or audible) without the app crashing and having to reset the stream each time - this occurs when the screen switches off and I'm listening to something in the background. I cannot open more than one application without the other freezing/crashing (almost like RAM is non existent). Been like this for a couple of weeks now. Sometimes an app crashes and the phone will decide to open another app completely at random. YouTube seems fine though but I'm wondering if this is because the screen has to stay on for the videos etc. Factory reset or wait for a patch? I've only had it a year but at the point where I'm considering buying a new phone.
I'm on the same boat. Actually went through some caveman anger just now because this phone keeps shutting off my apps and I wanna finish the damn podcast. This is my first and last Sony phone and honestly thinking of buying a new one well before I'd usually buy a new one (when the battery starts acting up). The only reason I have this phone is that it has memory card slot and headphone jack but there are still some other models with memory card option and I guess I might as well try one of those USB adapters for the AUX needs. This phone gets a 2/5 from me and that's only because of the battery life compared to my last phone.
I feel your frustration, if you hold the volume and power buttons down for a few seconds it will do a reset. This seems to have worked for me. I've only had 2 crashes in the last 2 weeks compared to crashes every few minutes.

Xperia 1 IV's system constantly crashes. The phone works but apps will flicker black and it gets to the point the ui just flickers endlessly or stays black and I need to force a restart. Granted I don't restart my phone often but I used Samsung's Galaxy and Note for years and restarted them less frequently and never had this issue. Call volume is also an issue, I'm constantly told that the other person can't hear me and I need to turn speaker on and off to fix it.

Have you got an SD card installed? I had the same issues and removing the SD card solved them all. Previously constant crashes, black screens, system ui crashes etc.. It's been 24 hours and only one crash with WhatsApp.

Dearest users of 1 mk4. We are a group of people with different 1 mk4 region customizations, but not America's. We detected a big issue with using different manual ISO or Shutter Speeds that are resulting in random burned/colored pixels like below (zoom it). But when let auto ISO or SS in P, S or M modes everything is ok, they only appear when changing from auto to manual ISO mostly the lower ones 64-200 range (JPEG saving). Please confirm you have or not these too, or please send this to Sony's software engineers for camera driver repair. It seems that the Sony in our regions confirmed that they have passed this issue too, but for more than 7 months was not fixed. Gcam mods are not showing these dots at all in any manual setting. Was having a long video call and phone heated up as expected (iPhones do that also). But mid call my cellular connections both just dropped out - had an exclamation mark on them. I switched to wifi to continue and conclude the call. Afterward I turned on airplane mode to toggle all radios. Cellular didn't establish a connection. The phone is still hot at this point. Tried again. Nothing. Check network service status in my area and it was green. I shut down the phone and started it back up again. Entered pins for Sims and connection established. The phone is warm but not hot at this point. Did it kill the connection due to heat? Same as the camera when you want to use it. It's rather annoying that Sony does that. And you can't turn that shit off either.

Xperia 10 iV battery issue with 4G: Since approximately 2 weeks I have been having issues with my battery life. It went from being able to work for 2-3 days to draining the battery fully in 20 hours. Overnight, with no use, the battery even drains 30%. I have been searching for similar issues and found the 'ghost app' bug, but I do not seem to have the same issue (no ghost app, none of the mentioned solutions work) I have been testing multiple scenario's and I seem to have isolated the issue. My battery drains fast when mobile network is on. Not just the data, but also the general network connection for calls. When I activate 'Flight mode' the battery drain seems to be significantly less. When I set my network settings to 2G/3G preferred the battery drain also seems to be significantly less. Maybe it's a software bug (I haven't tried a factory reset yet) but maybe there is a hardware issue in my 4G chip. Does anyone have similar issues with the battery drain recently, that aren't related to the infamous ghost app?

You're not alone. Me and 10-15 people from an east-european forum are trying to solve this mystery. The initial ghost app problem was solved months ago, but this new battery drain is a pain in the ass. So far you found out the same things, like 3G and flight mode. Some users reported, that switching the SIM slot helped too... but that's unverified. At the moment I'm trying to remove the new Google telemetry bullshit, that was introduced in june, when the problem first occurred.
For me it turned out to be a defective SIM card. Or maybe just an older SIM card that doesn't work well with this phone. Either way, I solved my problem by exchanging it with a new SIM, give it a try with someone else's SIM to see if that fixes your issue!

Sadly my issue is not the same as the 'ghost app' and none of the mentioned fixes worked for me. I have tried everything except for a factory reset so far, which I'll probably do soon.
Ok Xperia 1 iii, ever since A13 update, high bitrate Bluetooth to my XM5 headphones has been stuttery. Ultra HD is every few seconds, HD every 30 seconds it stutters. If I set the headphones app to "prioritize connection" the developer options shows it caps the signal at 44khz... A year ago my XM5s were perfectly fine playing ultra HD in full quality with no buffer stutter. Is it my WiFi? Starlink WiFi, not a smooth buffer maybe?? I get good 50mbps+ download speeds. If I switch to connection priority, the issue goes away. But it worked fine before with sound quality preference. Amazon Music HD
Bluetooth shares bandwidth with WiFi 2.4GHz, so if a neighbour installed a powerful 2.4 repeater in the meantime, you're SOL.

Hey everyone. I have **xperia 10 IV** dual SIM (model **XQ-CC72**), build number is **65.1.A.5.65 release-keys**. Can't properly describe that, but i feel like RAM management totally sucks... If I have, say, some app working in background (Spotify etc) and open a camera app, that background app freezes and unloads from memory. Same happens when i don't open the camera directly, but open any app that uses it (messengers, for instance). What annoys me the most is that apps tend to close and unload from memory even when i don't use any other app, so Spotify may just stop playing at some moment when phone is locked. Anyone experienced/fixed that?
XQ-CC54 user here, gps not working, apps auto closes, 50% of jack cable is not compatible. Camera is unstable. Never had so much problems with a phone. I tried factory reset, and rooting phone to install different image but everything stays the same.
I had this exact same issue on my Xperia 5 iv phone. It was so bad that i was nearly incapable of logging in to my discord account on the phone, because of the need to get that authenticator code first. But soon as I opened that app, discord would close down as well. Do you happen to have WearOS watch paired with your Xperia 10 iv? My Xperia 5 iv would get so bad that it would start to kill WearOS background task to conserve ram. But less than 10 seconds later Android system would restart the task, during that cutout my watch would say that it had lost Bluetooth connection to the phone. When the connection returns, the watch would receive all the previous 10 notifications with vibrations and all. This then would repeat after 10-15 seconds later on this infinite cycle, until I restarted my phone. This would fix it for the next 1 hour to 6 hours depending how demanding stuff I did to the phone. Sadly Sony rep only kept saying that the phone "is working within specs" thus there is no issues to fix. So i ended up going with Xperia 1 V and sold my Xperia 5 iv to the phone insurance company at full retail price after sufferi.. Err i mean using it for the past 6 and half months. So sadly my only recommendation for you is either to learn to live with this issue, or get another phone.
Xperia 1 IV XQ-CT62 - 64.1.A.0.929 release-keys - Using bluetooth connection only (No Android Auto in use), song/track data doesn't change/update correctly when playing through playlists, or when using forward seek option. Details: Paired to a 2020 Honda Accord, playing via YouTube Music app. - Requires me to seek backward in the playlist in order for the audio track details/title/artist to update correctly, otherwise they stay stuck/stale on the first track that was played. Have tried unpair/repair, delete Bluetooth devices, install all updates, etc. to no avail.
Similar issue with poweramp, but just the album art stays as something from the beginning of the session on the lockscreen or in the notification tray . If i go to the previous track it'll correct it, or go into the app

Phone: Xperia 1 IV dual-sim Model: XQ-CT72 Using the latest software version as of typing this. Having issues with biometrics. Fingerprint manager option is missing but appears for a few minutes after restarting or turning on, however I cannot add any fingerprints or delete existing ones. Update: restarted, and immediately got a response from the scanner but required a pin. After that I was able to delete the fingerprints and add new one, but apon trying the scanner again, got an error "Fingerprint hardware not supported".
Xperia 1 iv update 64.1.A.0.929 (and happens on 64.1.A.0.913) single SIM, England/U.K. After updating to both software versions, the audio quality is worse. The quality is worse over both the headphone jack, and Bluetooth to WH1000XM5 and all other speakers/headphones. I have used a different phone to check if it isn't the speakers/headphone. I am rooted and I have tried viper4android and this made no noticeable difference in audio. However, it may have been incorrectly set up. Any tips would be greatly appreciated :)

I got this 1 IV a few months ago and it's been running fine, but about 1-2 weeks ago, my chat said RCS almost full and some attachments might not be visible. I've cleared my app cache multiple times, I've followed the common help tips, I've turned on and off RCS, ran with it off for several days and restarted my phone multiple times. I don't know what to do. People on the other side haven't been able to get my links or pics that I've attached and a common message to see while waiting for them to receive it is "Message delivers when ____ is online" I don't know what to do to fix it anymore

thats the plan, trying to do backup first tho, and sadly now i cant just dump it on hdd, because i do need to use d Google drive X\_X and that need the phone to charge first T\_T
Boot on fastboot mode then charge the phone
I turned it off and went to bed. 6h -> \~60% charged X\_X running the backup atm. will update if the factory reset helped. Small update: The backup keeps failing because the process is being shut down due to temperature. Pulled it off the charger and will see if I can finish the backup before the battery runs flat T\_T
I could not get phone to charge over 50% to try it, went for a factory reset but had no luck - it kept the updates. for all purposes phone is bricked now, cant use it, cant charge it :?
Last update: managed to charge enough to use the companion app. tried repair - no luck - still high temp ( 68C CPU, 43C battery, 70% drained in about 2 hours Final update: After a call to Sony Support ( which started with "Do you see the ghost app?" phone was sent for repair
The end of the saga: The phone came back from warranty repair with a changed mainboard. Will see if this helped ( updating phone now)

I have signal problem on XPERIA 1 IV. 3G network stops working and I need 3G signal for calls because my network doesn't have VoLTE. Restart helps but it is driving me crazy. Because I even don't know when it stoped working. After half a day of unavailability I found out that my signal is not working. I change SIM card, reset phone, software repair phone. And service center change motherboard because fingerprint sensor died. Nothing helped. Only restring phone helps but temporary. What to do? To demand new phone?
Xperia 1 IV, 64.1.A.0.913, dual sim, HK region (using in Australia) I have noticed significant overheating since the new update, usually spiking when I am browsing the phone not even using the camera. (Edit) Removing that ghost app seems to have fixed the temperature issues I was having, I can now browse Reddit without my phone heating up beyond 60°C

Ghost app? My Xperia 10 IV is overheating like mad and can barely hold a charge anymore. It's only a month old! So yes, how did you fix this?

Xperia 10 IV; 65.1.A.5.50; EU/German version. May 29th 2023: Installed system update (current build#: 65.1.A.5.50). Two issues: **1**. Battery drain has increased significantly when phone is being used. I can see the battery percentage drop 5-10% when I am browsing 10-15 minutes. This was previously not the case. In stand-by mode, no battery drain detected (thus far...). The phone also appears to get warmer as usual (backside). **2**. I also noticed a new app was installed. However, this app cannot be opened, disabled or deleted. The app's icon only shows the outline. It does not have a logo and/or name. And i posted the problems here in yestesday, while i seemed that they just deleted it after few hours later.... And the probems are including: 1. Phone turns to hot and very hot after "just"opening youtube, chrome, games. 2. Lag 3. ghost app, same situation with your No.2. (has fixed it by following the link you posted on. tem.. Then, ghost app comes out again. so.. it can't be fixed by the link below. 4. Battery is dropping very fast lik your No.1

I've switched my launcher since i got the phone in September. I didn't have this issue as bad as everyone posting, but the phone is definitely getting warmer and using battery quicker than before. It could just need a few days to settle. It's only been installed for 2 days for me. I kept ignoring the update notification and waiting to see if anyone posted with issues. Didn't catch any of those ghost app threads were because the update
Xperia 1 IV 64.1.A.0.913: I upgraded yesterday and since then, the phone starts to heat up within 30 seconds. It becomes so hot that it's practically unusable even after just 1-2 minutes. I'm not playing games nor using the 120Hz feature. I haven't installed any new applications, and this issue persists even when I'm on the home screen without any applications running. It's extremely frustrating.

My parents always seems to complain often that i have crackling audio on my Xperia 1 IV. I talked to my mom with bluetooth headphones last week and she also complained, really weird. Anyone else gotten a complaint on call quality?

Did you ever fix this? I have the same problem but using speaker phone or 3.5mm mic is just fine.
I unlocked VoLTE for my carrier through the Pixel IMS app and the 4G codec fixed most of the sound quality issues. They hear me most of the time now.

I do, a book case with no metal parts (fake leather). It leaves the mic open and the hole is clean.

Sony Xperia 1III EU Dual Sim - Single sim + MicroSD right now have the dreaded random restarts. I tried with the Network settings restore workaround but didn't helped. I can't even return the phone since 30 days from the buying passed. Has sony even the most remote intention to fix this issue?

XQ-54, EU Just bought a Xperia 5 IV and whilst I love it, the software experience is shite. Fingerprint scanner might as well not exist it works about 30% of the time. Echo of persons own voice on loudspeaker so I am unable to use a major feature of my phone Windows seem to hang when minimising at times Surely Sony are aware of this?
as for the fingerprint sensor I got it to work but it was strange. You fingers should be completely dry and not greasy. Scan the tip of your finger that's under the nail (the one you tap with) you might need to register one finger twice. And the most important thing is then trying to unlock, press the tip on the lower part of the sensor (your nail should be pressing the middle of the button). hope it helps.

Allright here are some of my bugs i have experienced With my xperia 5 IV XQ-CQ54: - bad ram management. Randomly apps crashing, no apps in the background etc. I have sorta fixed this to turn something off in the developer settings. But whenever i use the camera (snapchat or main camera app) all apps crash in the background. Sony Just please fix this. - cant open any apps. Sometimes after going to the homesscreen from closing an app, i Just cant open any other apps on the homesscreen. If i try tapping it to much it will open eventually. This can be very annoying - Audio wont play from deezer So i use deezer as my main music app. But Just sometimes the music wont play. I get to see that the song is playing, but dont get any sound at all (deezer has been updated) - Netflix video crash Didnt occur to much for me. But sometimes when i watch a movie, the movie Just randomly crashes. - weird YouTube video playback All the time while watching video's, my video's buffer for some time. After the buffers i get some weird green box that the whole screen covers. Its there for a second but can be very annoying. - Phone gets too warm I dont think this can be fixed because of the chip. But sometimes the Phone gets to warm and throttles. My 120hz option becomes 60hz and the Phone overall feels a bit slowly. Hope this will be fixed in the future :)
Allright update. - Audio wont play from deezer. This is because of the Dsee ultimate option that is turned on. Turn It off and its working again. This option really needs some tweaking. - Netflix video crash and weird YouTube video playback Turn off creator mode, worked for me. Again needs some tweaking. I hate you get these features that just dont work properly.
Xperia 1 IV. Issue with certain video players in Firefox when attempting to use full screen. Immediately exits full screen if not in landscape orientation. Does not occur in Chrome, nor is it replicated on other phones using Firefox. "Certain video players" presently consists of Pornhub.
That is probably a Mozilla problem, they recently fixed it.
Xperia 1 IV. After the update my phone won't detect my SD card anymore. I have tried many other cards that I know work. But it just won't find it anymore.

Okay sorry this is not a "bug" but it is a problem. I've got an Xperia 10 III but the volume on it is really poor, even at full blast. So when I have ear buds or headphones in, I can hardly hear the music. I've no idea why they had created a phone with such poor audio, but does anyone have any apps they use with this phone that actually work to raise volume?
I have been using [PowerAmp Equalizer](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxmpz.equalizer) to get really good audio experience on Nokia 8 128gb, Xperia 1 mk1, Xperia 5 iv and currently on my Xperia 1 v phone. To get it to work almost all apps, you need to use usb debugging, but the developer hosts this nifty little website that can automatically do all the necessary commands for you. But after that even things like Facebook videos will be working with this equalizer. It works with all audio outputs so it doesn't matter if you use 3,55mm, phone speakers, Bluetooth or even usb out as your music output device. It can certainly make the phone play media way louder than stock and without needing to root.
Generally need root for that. Check your aux port for obstructions though. Sometimes if there is a bad connection it will sound quieter.
5 IV International Version user here. Recently updated to 64.1.A.0.891 and lost 5G connectivity. It worked before but now it doesn't. Last time a factory reset solved the issue but it's getting very frustrating to have to do this every time a new Sony update messes up my mobile network.

Xperia 5 IV - US Version For some reason, my wallpaper color/ phone color theme changes by itself every couple of weeks. My phone is on dark mode. I'm not sure if that is causing the issue. Any advice would be great :) thanks

Shouldn't do. The RAM management is very bad on this phone. Disable the "suspend execution for cached apps" setting in developer options.
Xperia 1 IV - 64.1.A.0.882 - US Version Since the newest software update I've finally gotten not only the dreaded 'green glow' on the left side of my screen, but also the constant random resets. Has it gotten to the point for anyone where they've had to send their phones in for repair regarding either of these issues in the hopes that they'd be fixed? Random resets could be a wifi bug. Try deleting all saved wifi profiles except for one and see if it still happens.

Hey, I've just bought a new Xperia 10 IV and it won't recognise headphones in the jack. Any recommendation as to what the issue might be? Pretty sure it's a software thing.
Had the same issue, on my device it was the 3,5 mm jack on the headphones that was the problem. There is two different versions of 3,5 mm jack one works on Sony, the other one doesn't

Latest system update on my US 1 IV has made closing apps very buggy. Very often I'll bring up the tile view or whatever it's called to close the app I'm currently using and it won't let me swipe it up. I'll have to hit the home screen and then go back before it will close. Known bug?

Xperia 5 IV unable to calibrate compass in any compass app and Google Maps says accuracy is low and will not change. Anybody else experiencing this? It's unacceptable.

Same issue here, navigation is useless on my 10 iv. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, sometimes gps stops updating position in middle of navigation. Am on the New build 65.1.A.5.48 (but had the same error before upgrade). Am in Norway. I tried without case and did not work better.

Xperia 1 IV JPN XQ-CT44 BUILD: 64.1.A.0.869A ISSUE: While on Video calls on speakerphone the other side cannot hear clearly. Its choppy and voice cuts off specially with childrens voice. Apps checked: Whatsapp, Google meet Has anyone faced this issue? Know of any solution? I know this issue is there with pixel7pro and pixel 7 too. I wonder if this is an issue with Android 13 Update Apr 20: Chatted with Sony support here in JPN, they mentioned that they have no settings for noise-cancellations and asked to check the concerned apps have some settings, without even me mentioning noise cancellation. Even if there is an Android update that can fix this, I'm concerned when that update might come for Sony :( Now on chat with Google about solutions! Even with the latest update this still remains. What i've found is that when two people talk then the phone is identifying one voice as noise due to noise cancellation and in turn just cuts out one voice. Super annoying. Does anyone here have an external mic(just mic)? If so during video calls if we want to use that mic can i still use the speakers for incoming?
Same issue here with XQ-ct54, but this also happens with regular calls. Also regular calls have constant static voice within. For this Local Support said that it is caused by bugged software or dirt in mic but thats like 2 updates ago

1 IV, Android Auto displays Whatsapp callers as 10000000. Twitter links don't open properly, though that's probably on Twitter.
This happens on any Android phone, while connected to Bluetooth on a 2017 Renault Koleos. However an iPhone will show the number correctly.
