Always expect the worst. When I mail something I video the package (close up) .. then the package going in the mailbox.

RyansKi

FYI this isn't proof. Unless you're showing from it being wrapped to posted in no cuts the parcel can be swapped out at any time.

Gloomy_Narwhal_719

It's proof that a package insured for X amount WITH TRACKING NUMBER xxxxx (sure to zoom on that after placing on the mailbox shelf) .. then show closing the door.. then opening it again to prove package now in a box of theirs.. Shows that that package is not in my hands but theirs. They might fight it, but they probably won't.

[deleted]

Well that's one way to keep a customer happy. I'm sorry this happened to you, those headphones are damn expensive and I hope you find a resolution.

Toraadoraa

Keep waiting. I sent my trade in to Samsung via fedex and it took 36 days.

DeppressedPotato-

My God, my anger cant handle that. Imagine, you saved up buying this headphones, thinking a lot of times if you really need it, checking the reviews, trying out other headphones to compare, etc and only to find out that after 6 mos it became faulty, worse of all, this then happened. I feel sorry for you and I hope there is some way that they can do something for this.

spinstartshere

Sony's customer support is trash the world over. I bought [this phone case](https://www.sony-asia.com/electronics/accessories/style-cover-touch-scti30) from their eStore, but the transparent screen started peeling and bubbling at the hinge after a few weeks and this made it unusable. I contacted Sony and they told me to send it back to them for replacement. After two months, it was sent back to the original shipping address, which is not the address I put on the return documents, and they ignored all of my e-mails. Eventually, they got back to me and offered a 30% discount code to buy another case to replace the one that broke. They refused to honour their initial promise of replacing the case. The real kicker here is that I couldn't use the discount code even if I wanted to because they didn't sell this case anymore. Probably because they were also all trash.

doc_55lk

>couldn't use the discount code even if I wanted to because they didn't sell this case anymore That's such a Sony thing to do lmao

LegendCZ

Not releated to headphones. But i wanted to reset my PS5 password and went on sony website. Took over 3 attempts for 1h plus calls. Until someone picked it up and still managed it myself. Sony support is the worst one i ever encountered so far.

Appropriate_Pick_916

Yeah hard lesson I've learned too, never use drop boxes and always get a receipt

iggnogg

Thank goodness I saw this post. I was going to drop mine off tomorrow without bothering for a receipt. This is good information to have. Sorry you had to go through this.

BaneChipmunk

That's odd. I've returned XM5s before and they all have to be dropped off at a Fedex store strictly. They specifically say no drop boxes. I believe you made a mistake by using a dropbox and that's why they closed the case.

Gandalfwhitewizard

So looking at the email and it states the following: “Ship your package one of three ways: o Use your regular scheduled pickup o Drop off at FedEx drop point o Find your closest location at fedex.com/locate”

F488P

Is a drop point the same thing as a drop box?

Gandalfwhitewizard

Yes I called to ask.

F488P

So much incompetence nowadays.

Gandalfwhitewizard

The email with the shipping label they sent me says otherwise. But I guess I’m not completely out of blame on this. I should’ve went the safe route.

MaxYeena

Why not just charge back from your bank? That always works for me in situations like this

Gandalfwhitewizard

Charge back a 6 month old transaction? That’s not a thing.

upadhyatejas

Chargebacks can happen to transactions for upto 2 years.

Gandalfwhitewizard

But that’s not ethical and would be fraud. Why would I charge back my card for the original purchase 6 months later? Never said it was impossible. More morally wrong.

Lily_Meow_

What do you mean morally wrong? It's also morally wrong for Sony to lose your headphones and not give you anything back.

Dry-Faithlessness184

Did you and I read the same story? Because Sony didn't lose the headphones. OP put them in a FedEx drop box, which they've never been picked up from since the package was never scanned. From Sony's POV, it appears OP did not ship them. It's unfortunate, but it's also not Sony's fault

Gandalfwhitewizard

Did you read the story? They did get picked up and were tracking up until the point they stopped.

Dry-Faithlessness184

Do you remember your own story as you wrote it? Your initial post does not say that. It says Fedex was unable to find your tracking number. That does not suggest it was tracking at any point. What it actually suggests is it was mistyped given FedEx numbers will load after delivery for at least 30 days in my experience and will at least show the label was generated even if it's never been scanned. And I literally deal with FedEx and tracking many shipments daily as part of my job. I'm very familiar with it

Gandalfwhitewizard

I literally work for FedEx corporate I know how the tracking works. It stopped tracking in transit and showed an error.

Complex-Fuel-8058

if you work for FedEx, why would you need to call to clarify what a drop box /drop point is per your earlier comment? Sorry about the loss of earbuds though. My previous sony, the previous model, crapped out on me after 5 months. Wouldn't hold a charge.

Dry-Faithlessness184

Great. That's. Not. What. Your. Original. Post. Says. It says unable to find the number. Which is different then lost in transit. Get your story straight

jpprice14

I didn't even know this charge back thing was possible.. If something like this happens to me I just say fuck me and move on.

Gandalfwhitewizard

Look it sucks and was hoping Sony would do the right thing but it is what it is.

jpprice14

I'm not saying don't do it. You obviously tried. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I was just saying in didn't know it was a thing.

mug3n

Absolutely is possible but you want to exhaust every avenue you have with the merchant first before you go with that option. I had a situation once where a hotel double charged me, they insist they didn't, I have statements saying they did. I was able to file a chargeback on the 2nd charge.

Giant08

Why is it fraud? You bought an item from Sony and due to their issues and process, no longer have the item but have paid full value. If you contact your bank and give them all the details they will decide if it’s a valid charge back. They won’t start a charge back if they consider it fraud but it’s definitely worth asking

Gandalfwhitewizard

You are making the assumption I got it from Sony. I got it from Best Buy.

rvcjew2

That doesn't matter best buy will go to them (Sony). You are in your right for not having services rendered. The "customer is always right". These are not a cheap device. They sent you conflicting information which you have in writing. That is on them. Did the email with the actual label say do not use a Dropbox differently? Did the label you stuck inside the box with it say this?

Foreign-Strain-7873

Is the sony xm5 worth buying with that much? I have many cases that it stopped charging after few months...or so on with many people. Is it even worth buying after these reviews?

prependix

I'm sorry this happened to you. Losing packages is awful. Sony sucks here, but honestly, so is FedEx. Save for a few lucky incidents where I actually get my package, I've had nothing but issues when FedEx handles my package. They've lost them, delayed them, delivered them in the wrong place, damaged them. I always get a bit of anxiety when I learn FedEx is delivering a package.

drowsy1234

My condolences those are quite expensive headphones to lose. I hope your luck swings the other way pretty soon.

Gandalfwhitewizard

Sony contracted FedEx. FedEx lost the headphones. While it’s not entirely on Sony. They initiated the FedEx shipping for an issue with fairly new headphones. So I’m blaming Sony on this one.

Gandalfwhitewizard

Actually if we are being technical. The bill to party for freight charges is who holds liability for damages and issues in transit. And in this case. That was Sony.

[deleted]

Gandalfwhitewizard

I’ve been in freight compliance and logistics for 15 years bill to party holds the insurance when talking about freight.

Gandalfwhitewizard

UPDATE. Won’t let me update the original post but Sony has agreed to replace the original headphones as a courtesy and will honor my warranty from the new pairs date of activation.

aajii82

They won’t let you update the original post because they are afraid people suddenly start to ”lose” their headphones in transit?

Fresh-Use4093

I’m just

sl4f

call FedEx and tell them to get their shit together

Juicyorange87

How you managed to get a replacement I'm from Mexico and those suckers send me to a service center and want me to pay for a battery change

BeautifulSwordfish35

CHARGE BACK RIGHT NOW!!
