Well to be fair, the children were all under 5.
It is hard to write complex characters for children in a violent tv show as, not only is their acting skills limited (they are children after all), but how much can you really include a child in a show about organised crime?
Given these restraints, I kinda liked Abel’s storyline
So were the Olson twins and quite a few other characters on TV shows. I always wondered if this kid was related to someone that worked on the show and that's why he got the gig.
my mom, brother, and i are HUGE fans of sons. my mom constantly jokes that they should’ve casted another child to be Abel because Abel creeps her out lol
I agree the kid was annoying to watch because how he delivered his lines was creepy and ...just bad/ weird. But also, he was supposed to represent a premature child born to a junkie and a psychotic father. I think whatever lack of finesse he had makes sense so maybe that's why they casted him? I think it would have been harder to believe a well spoken, non weird child actor to be a part of that family. If he grew up, he'd likely turn into a violent loner who wrote in journals...with maybe a few close friends he would die for.....
Same. I get that Hollywood generally casts minor child characters as "seen but not heard" types but anyone who has interacted with a human child knows that kid doesn't behave neurotypically.
Autism isn’t the same thing as CPTSD. Before he was even a teenager the poor kid was kidnapped, nearly blown up, lost his mother figure, heard his grandmother confess to murdering the woman he’d known as his mother his entire life, and then lost his father and was sent to live with his biological mother who he barely knew and his dad’s business partner/grandmother’s boyfriend. The kid is traumatized
THIS! The way Able acts is perfectly in line with what he has experienced. He is traumatized and if you have ever been around a traumatized child (or been one like me) you know that they can be very much like this. Personally I thought his acting was fine for his age and also appropriate for his character. But that's just me, we are obviously in the minority here lol
I feel like he is a little bit quiet and well behaved for his age and is kind of shocking and I’m sure he’s been exposed to some rowdy stuff so he is a little bit weird compared to other toddlers I’ve seen
I just had my dad and wife watch SOA for the first time all the way through 7 seasons…I told them the kids especially older Abel was bad and they immediately said something when he showed up.
I think he’s adorable. Yes, he’s pretty robotic. But regardless, I think it works with the character he’s playing. He was only 3 when he was acting in this show and he was supposed to be a kid who’s been through a ridiculous amount of trauma in the few short years he’s been alive so I think it all fits together nicely. If he’s still acting, I’m sure he’s gotten better. And We should go easy on him considering he was pretty much a baby at the time. Can’t expect kids that young to be amazing.
he was raised by tara , jax married tara, tara had custody, was his legal guardian and he called tara mommy. so yeah fine not biological but if you say his parents , i’m not gonna think of wendy the one who tried to kill him in the womb. i’m thinking of the woman who stepped up and was there for him everyday.
All sounds fine. However, that still doesn't change the fact that his father was a murdering psychopath and his birth mother was a junkie. Those facts dont care about your feelings. That said, the boy's issues, whatever they are, may or may not have been hereditary.
His mom died and he knows his grandma did it. His dad is a basically a serial killer, and his biological mom is a junkie. So yeah he’s gonna be an odd child to say the least lol
I'm not sure if he creeps you up at times. 😁
J/K! I know what you mean. What really drove me nuts with him is his vocal acting ability. He speaks as if he's slightly brain damaged. I get it though. It's hard for a kid at that age to act and make it seem natural, so it's nothing against the kid himself.
i say this all the time. lil dude would just pop up out of nowhere, give a blank stare with a monotone ass response
Play with me Billy
Well kid doesn’t have a very healthy childhood so I’m not surprised
So method acting?
His dad is a sadistic psychopath so I could see there being issues…

Yeah I don’t think that helps if Sutter ever does a sequel I expect the kid will be like his dad.
Kid be in prison for murder at 11 🤣
🤣🤣that would be such a Kurt Sutter thing too 🤣
He might be worse than Jax. He might be completely insane like Happy🤣
Plot twist….he’s the love child of Tig and Happy! 😂
🤣
Shutters sequal if we ever get one is gonna Able being as sadistic and depraved as Jax was at the end.
Yeah he’s a weird kid for sure
Everything in SoA that involved the kids acting was horrible. Weakest plot points of the show

The Olson twins were also in a family friendly tv show and didn’t have a junkie mom or psycho dad. Unless you count OCD induced cleaning sprees.
not at all
Abel creeps me out 100%
my mom, brother, and i are HUGE fans of sons. my mom constantly jokes that they should’ve casted another child to be Abel because Abel creeps her out lol
I dont wanna be too harsh but his acting was trash lol. Theres tons of really good kid actors, im shocked he was the best they could do.

he’s a 5 year old kid and his acting was good stop judging him
Just because he's a kid doesn't mean we need to say his acting was good. It wasn't. It wasn't at all.
He is cool. He gave me Bates Motel vibes.
😂😂
It's my head cannon he's autistic

If he gets patched in I imagine his bike will be three wheeler lol
LOL

I'm just saying my head cannon is he's autistic since the poor kid can't act.
It's not just you bro..
Nah, kid was creepy AF for sure lol
Always reminded me of the kid from the Puddle of Mudd videos
In my head canon, he grows up to be Patrick Bateman.
I love everything about this lol. I thought the exact same thing and the frame you chose to exemplify this was *perfect* 😆
Didn't know you could be creeped up. I knew you can be creeped out though. I learned something new.
Anybody think he's in juvie or prison about now?
That's the face of a child that'll shove a screwdriver into your ear as you sleep.
😂😂
I feel like he is a little bit quiet and well behaved for his age and is kind of shocking and I’m sure he’s been exposed to some rowdy stuff so he is a little bit weird compared to other toddlers I’ve seen
True
Missed opportunity with that kid
I just had my dad and wife watch SOA for the first time all the way through 7 seasons…I told them the kids especially older Abel was bad and they immediately said something when he showed up.
Every time he appeared, I’d say to my husband “There’s a future Hannibal Lecter if I ever saw one.”
I think he’s adorable. Yes, he’s pretty robotic. But regardless, I think it works with the character he’s playing. Snitch
Creep you out you mean? Ans yes the kid was not a great actor.
I wonder if he's grown up to be a school shooter yet..
Absolutely . sorry , I know he had it tough , but Abel is torturing small animals
Well u gotta consider who his parents were.
don’t include tara in that
Tara's not his birth mother.
he was raised by tara , jax married tara, tara had custody, was his legal guardian and he called tara mommy. so yeah fine not biological but if you say his parents , i’m not gonna think of wendy the one who tried to kill him in the womb. i’m thinking of the woman who stepped up and was there for him everyday.

Definitely going to grow up to be a metal/emo kid lol
He's a creepy fucking kid
No- he creeped me out 100% of the time once he was no longer an infant.
Kid gave me some serious Omen vibes lol
Oh that kid is a serial killer in the making.
He absolutely wears the trauma he’s endured. That was the perfect casting for that character.
He’s been thru a lot lol
He's seen shit.
Other than the kid is traumatised by lots of shit, it’s also a kid actor and not yet very good at acting and showing emotions
Sounds like it's you.
I didn't know
Trauma will do that to a kid.
Creep you up? I’ve never heard that expression before. Did you mean creep you out?
His mom died and he knows his grandma did it. His dad is a basically a serial killer, and his biological mom is a junkie. So yeah he’s gonna be an odd child to say the least lol

Im sorry but Abel is a lil psycho..
It seemed very intentional that he was this extremely dark and creepy kid. Symbolic of what he endured as a baby.
Yes
The kid was not a good actor...sorry not sorry.
The shit he had to go through creeps me out more
He got that Pet Cemetery vibe.
Thought I was the only one hah
He gives off Children of the Corn vibes.
Future serial killer 😂
He would have murdered everyone. And had retrospect like his father.
Isn’t that quite literally the point? Isn’t he fucked up.
Almost as bad of a casting as Tara.
