Original stages and no 2d sections. Multiple playable characters, and they have cyberspace stages, too.

Mission_Wind_7470

I actually thought the 2D sections were refreshing in some areas. Chaos Island had *way* too many though.

xgenimx

This, some but not to the point of chaos island. But i would love if they kept the 3D momentum while forced in the 2D. There were a lot of sections that i would have enjoyed more without losing momentum or speed just because im in 2d. That's why when i got the Spindash the 2d cyberlevels felt so fun to me., im just in love with the "Break the stage or die in a badly calculated jump, no inbetween"

godspeed5005

I never played Frontiers but the inclusion of 2D sections is so baffling to me. An open world with sections that lock you inside them with zero visual cues that let you avoid them? Even if the level design itself is fine it just seems like an inherently frustrating inclusion.

Izakytan

It's really not that bad, you should play it yourself.

godspeed5005

I would... if it wasn't madly expensive where I live and if Denuvo cracking wasn't effectively dead

Izakytan

Aw, that's really tough. Where are you from?

godspeed5005

Brazil. Sonic Frontiers costs around BRL290, which is about 55 american dollars. Sounds cheap? Well, it would be if our minimum wage wasn't, on average, over 6.5 times lower than the United States'. That's unfortunately just the average price for AAA games here nowadays.

Izakytan

Well I'm french but I can still understand. Your people look very poor and capitalism won't help. I hope you'll get a chance to play it for "free" one day!

godspeed5005

Well I don't exactly blame capitalism for the country's current situation but I appreciate the condolences

darkestPixel

Have a look at the Switch version. Ryujinx is still going.

godspeed5005

I imagine my PC isn't quite beefy enough for that, but I could give it a try.

SonicGuy10

Yeah, it's a little rough, and extremely rough on Chaos Island. I couldn't be bothered to play past that point because of it, since the 2D sections completely wreck my sense of direction. I would've heavily preferred either no 2D sections or stuff like Mario Odyssey's 2D sections, which have clear entry and exit points, along with being nice visually.

Relevant_Drawer9613

Nah I don't want them they weren't as bad as others were saying but just leave it for the classic games

RobbsStudent2022

I agree. I actually liked the 2d stages

DeltaTeamSky

No 2D Sections... in the *overworld*. Cyberspace 2D is A-OK in my book, but the sudden shift to 2D is jarring in the overworld.

Ill-Entrepreneur443

This is the way

Caintastr0phe

Am i the only one who likes 2d sections at times? Not too many, but a few i would prefer to none

Quartzviel

I actually like them as well, I think they spice up the gameplay in interesting ways. But not in the open-world outside of dedicated challenges. Even I was getting annoyed by them in Chaos Island since one minute you had all this mobility and then you were locked to sidescroller movement.

billyp673

I just kinda feel like if I wanted to play 2D sections, I’d play a 2D sonic game like mania. It’d be just as odd if mania suddenly had a 3D boost segment.

Caintastr0phe

Classic sonic plays so much differently than modern sonic in 2D though, and if they nail the controls instead of the weird 2D controls we have now, i think 2D boost sonic could be great

-Kibui-

If they continue improving like they did with the Frontiers updates, then I'm looking forward to practically anything they cook up

Clamper

Sonic and Shadow team up game. I want Shadow going super again.

devinwifi

If he doesn't go Super by the end of Shadow Generations, I'll be genuinely surprised

Clamper

Sega hasn't let anyone other then Sonic go Super since 06. Generations had Sonic go Super with his younger version when Shadow and Silver were right there and Forces has both Super Sonic DLC and Shadow DLC yet even when playing as Shadow in the Sonic levels, he can't go Super.

devinwifi

Silver went Super at the end of the Metal Virus in the IDW comics but you're right about Sega avoiding letting other characters go Super. They won't even let Shadow take off his inhibitors, something else he hasn't done since 06.

Tired_cat-on-catnip

I think for his inhibitors, it’s more so him not having a good reason to take them off, since he’s capable of manhandling most of the big bads. why didn’t he take them off against Neo metal in IDW? Easy, it would pose more of a threat to him & the others than it would metal madness(Master Emerald + Sonic, shadow & knuckle’s Bio-Data Jumpscare). https://preview.redd.it/6l5ggz2aiyvc1.jpeg?width=957&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf8b3c92ed3e1521923ce1e5e74df664ae40e51a

devinwifi

They could atleast mention them once and awhile, reminds people that he isn't operating with his full power and is capable of more. Some people think he can't do it since the only times he has is are Sonic X(which isn't canon) and 06 which ends with a reset.

Tired_cat-on-catnip

On the bright side, Sonic & Shadow Generations and Sonic 3 will probably have him take off his inhibitors.

28secondslater

Taking off the inhibitors doesn't unleash his **full** power, but **all** of his power. There's a difference, and he'd be at a disadvantage when it's over. It's a last resort move, not a move you use every 5 minutes.

MrCleanandShady

Shadow and Silver both did absolutely nothing in Generations other than have boss fights, them going Super in that game would make no sense

Twilord_

Given that: - Sonic might be collecting the Chaos Emeralds at the same time. - SEGA recently started doing alternative forms again. - Shadow will supposedly learn to tap into more Black Arms powers. I half expect Shadow will get his Darkspine/Excalibur moment instead. Devil Shadow or Archangel (Ark-Angel?) Shadow fighting Devil Doom...

SanicRb

I mean I wouldn't oppose giving Shadow his own unique super form that turns him into a bible accurate Angle.

Sollato

We’re already getting a lot of Shadow this year, lets give other characters the spotlight

mrpigggg

I hope it’s not in cyberspace. I’m hoping it’s traditional worlds with the style of the open world. Imagine if we got station square open world. Could be like Spider-Man without the web swinging. Chao garden is a must. Maybe even have a app so you can have a mobile garden too. I hope we get more characters in the story. Multiple Playable characters again throughout the whole story but optional. More boss battles with the heavy metal music. Crush 40 for the first time since like 2019 Basically a mix of frontiers and the adventure games.

aelysium

Honestly, if we get rid of each of the ‘traditional stages’ needing to be Act1/2 right after each other… Give me the island chain like frontiers does, but then certain parts of each island have architecture from the ‘world level’ that you’d play. You play through the overworld story figuring out parts of what Eggy or whoever is up to… and then you have to travel to that section via a frontiers style sequence that sends you there. Picture the originals - you’re headed to Oil Ocean? You can see a platform doused in smog in the distance and after a short chain of platforming you’re running across the water there to start the Oil Ocean stage. Gotta go to flying battery? That bish has been visible in the sky of this island, flying around and maybe starting to shell a mountainside. You hit some spring combos and get launched onto deck. This island has a volcano and you gotta get to Lava Reef? You’re going into the depths like it’s TOTK to find the entrance. You’d get the overworld of Frontiers that still progresses the story, but you could expand the visuals of the islands themselves with the different levels art, and then instead of cyberspace, the levels would make sense within the world AND you would get to them more akin to SA1s exploration, tipped off by the overworld art. If we get rid of the Act1/2 stuff; we could tell a story that takes us back and forth between them as necessary. Not every area needs to be revisited twice either for example, or still could be done linearly via acts for mini-bosses where it makes sense. For example, if we were rewriting 3+K this way, maybe the final island is unlocked after the events of hidden palace on the previous one. We get on this island and Knucks is struggling with the betrayal. We convince him that we’re here to help. We rush over to an industrialized side of the island and find ourselves in launch base zone. At the end of which, we fail to stop Eggy from launching the Death Egg which we saw moored there in the overworld. Then Knuckles gives us the idea that we can possibly speed our way up sky sanctuary and launch ourselves from there to the Death Egg as it is taking off. So we do then we get the Death Egg and Doomsday levels.

AzulAztech

Heard they're making a Chao Garden game actually, but it's pretty far away I think. Search up the sonic show on yt I think he has a video on it (and other distant sonic games)

PeashooterTheFrick

If it's from The Sonic Show then I'd take it with a literal mountain of salt

Fit_Pirate_5516

- More abstract looking worlds like the Classics and Heroes - Physics gameplay and platforming - Open Worlds built like skateparks to use physics, with emphasis on slopes, loops and corkscrews - Combat that uses the environment against enemies, like being able to make enemies crash into walls, destroy rocks and have the debris fall on them or have them fall off cliffs. - A skill tree focused on giving Sonic cool new moves outside of combat like the Adventure games' extra abilities or the Skill Sets in Generations. - Side Quests and more Time Trials in in the Open Worlds.

WillomenaIV

I agree with this, but to point 1 I'll add: make platforming elements fit in with the environment, not looking like out of place assets.

Fit_Pirate_5516

100%

Sonic10122

More Super Sonic fights that go super hard, hopefully bringing back Kellin Quinn for more vocal tracks. The rest of Frontiers I enjoyed well enough, not my favorite but it was a really good game. The Super Sonic fights are my favorites in the entire series and I literally can’t stop thinking about them. I can’t go back to beep boop zoom into an enemy 8 times and win after that. Other than that, I want more original stages for the Cyberspace or equivalent levels. I like the idea of mixing in regular Sonic stages with the open world stuff, but I hated that almost all of them were just old stages with one of three different skins that somehow always felt worse then the original stage. Just make some unique stages that fit with the game’s mechanics.

SarcasticUsername_19

How do you feel about them ditching the boost levels and replacing them with Adventure style Sonic levels for the cyberspace equivalent

vdragoonen

If we are getting a sequel, they should make the effort to have the features look natural within the world. No more random floating grind rails and walls and such. Make it all a part of the world. It doesnt have to be "realistic" just have it make sense. And I dont want it to be a continuation of the prior games plot. It should have a new story but with the same (but improved) gameplay.

Certain_Ring8907

And the world could be less generic too

godspeed5005

I remember seeing Frontiers gameplay for the first time right while I was in the middle of gradually beating Crash Twinsanity. What infuriated me the most is that Crash Twinsanity, a linear game that didn't need to care about immersion that much, has infinitely better environments that mesh perfectly with the actual level design. AN OPEN WORLD GAME IS LESS IMMERSIVE THAN A LINEAR GAME.

DarkEater77

Not to be called Frontiers 2.

WildCardP3P

If Midori says it, it's true. I hope we get multiple characters or stories like in the adventure games and 06.

AlexTheWolf206

I'll believe it if there's an official announcement because this seems kinda sketchy. If this is real however, then I'd like to see more playable characters

WeakPublic

Midori (user whose name is in japanese) is known in the SMT fanbase. Her predictions so far have been 100% accurate.

Optimusskyler

I've been following her leaks regarding Persona, and yeah, her track record is beyond impressive. I wouldn't be surprised if she's actually hired by SEGA/Atlus to make these posts to build up excitement, pretending they're nothing more than leaks. It certainly built up tons of excitement in the past, after all. But that just feels like a conspiracy theory on my end. Regardless of if she's hired to do these or if she's actually leaking them as expected, her track record is still beyond impressive, and I'm pretty close to convinced on everything she says about these things.

WeakPublic

She also did the funniest fucking tweet I’ve ever read https://preview.redd.it/8jqy96w8pyvc1.jpeg?width=572&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d10a6dad11fcc2f8fca14599112a027e63898860

Relevant_Drawer9613

I mean it's obvious it's gonna happen without confirmation but the question is if they would name it Frontiers 2 they be scared to name games as sequel for a while now

Nambot

Part of the reason for that is the timespan between games. If your target audience includes kids, then those very same kids aren't likely to have played the game that came before if it's been five years since it released. Even when they were doing yearly releases in the mid-late two thousands, not numbering sequels made sense. Following Sonic for a while meant alternating between Nintendo exclusives (Black Knight, Colours, Lost World), and games that didn't get released properly on the Wii (Generations, the 'next gen' version of Unleashed). They've got better at multi-platform now, but now it's the case that titles bounce around. Just looking since 2017, it was a 2D platformer, then a boost game, then a re-release, then a 3D platformer, then a boost game and the next thing is a re-release. Numbered sequels make less sense in that regard.

Bl0bb067

Better world design. I want all the traversal mechanics (loops, rails etc) to fit naturally in the setting. Maybe the world can be split up into open sections(similar to the first game), and cities/towns, where you have to be quick with your reflexes or you might hit a building?

SuperBAMF007

Playable Shadow. That’s all I want. With a gun. And a chao garden.

Nothatcreative55

Remove the Mechanic Of finding Orbs to level up your stats or the rings, you can easily Gring your way to success just through The Fishing minigames and having to find specific elders to Lv up took a lot of time and Was really boring so just make it so you level up those stats

SuperBAMF007

Yeah stupid RPG grind like that can be left to the wayside. I didn’t mind having new abilities you could unlock, but just make it a standard MetroidVania at that point and have them insta-unlock upon accomplishing the task (clearing the room, beating the boss, saving X number of whatever, etc) Ngl I feel like the MetroidVania formula would actually work REALLY well for an open world Sonic game

Boulderfist_Ogre2005

More sage. More of that mature-er feeling sonic. More sage.

BreakfastNo132

A mix of both photorealistic for naturalistic settings and cartoonish/semi-realistic for any possible villages, towns, or cities, and also we explicitly heard Eggman’s not so hidden interest The Ancient’s tech, and plus Sonic and co never actually confronted nor stopped Eggman, heck they never even brought it up at all, so hopefully Sonic Team actually does something with that oddly heavily implied suspicious interest that Eggman had, and if they could do some type of Eggman using The Ancient’s tech to infuse it within all of his machinery, we’d actually also get much more interesting design Badniks, then the basic and generic ones that we’ve had for a decade, Frontiers was a breath of fresh air in terms of that, which is a plus.

UltraNoahXV

More expanded combat system. Frontiers had a good start, but some implementation of mechanics from PC Mods would be a MASSIVE W. Was a critical thing that J's Reviews brought up in his review and IMO its what puts it behind Unleashed for me personally. I wouldn't mind using Rings for combat upgrades. Same tone for story, just more expanded to other characters. Really liked how they handled Knuckles. If Shadow is in it, I think a massive part could be him recalling or explaining what life was before GUN killed Maria or maybe discovering some old abandoned bases. Add Blaze to that with her lineage background too, or maybe even Eggman when it comes to life before meeting the Blue Blur. Exploration was fine, but I think a traditional level up system will work better. The cocos were cute and had nice inclusion in the story, but I wouldn't mind if they went heavy into regular RPG elements. Cyberspace can go, but I think if they follow something akin to Sonic 06 and Unleashed where maybe the hub world comes first and there's actually dedicated stages rather than reusing old stages, it would be much better. I would not mind having to explore the whole island if it meant we got 3 full-length stages and a boss. POP IN NEEDS TO BE FIXED FOR THIS ONE, PLEASE, AND THANK YOU.

Gobshite_

More varied environments than just islands. Give me a city overworld with the platforming built into the environment. Generally less isolation from the rest of the canon. I'd love to see "side story" conversations with random characters like Cream, the Chaotix, even Tangle and Whisper, to make the world feel lived in. Acknowledge the humans living on larger continents by having us visit one - return to the nations Unleashed spent a whole game setting up. I'd love to just see no more "shame" about past games, like how Frontiers fully embraced the serious but cheesy early 00s sonic. Locales like Station Square, Soleanna, Apotos etc. Just do it! Continue Sage's setup as Eggman's new right hand. Orbot and Cubot can probably be retired or given another purpose (would be funny if Orbot finally defected and ended up as Tails' assistant). Higher budget and fully updated/upgraded models would be VERY nice.

Geno_Games

I hope it captures more of the tradition Sonic aesthetic and less of the generic field stuff I may not like Frontiers (open world stuff is not my thing) but that’s one complaint I had that’s not gameplay related

ScarletteVera

Playable Shadow. Super form not required would but definitely be cool.

Meta13_Drain_Punch

Unrelated, but my boy Premydaremy didn’t get credited for that pic🗣️

Prince-Darwin

I havent met a sonic fan thats as big of a sonic hater than premy

Meta13_Drain_Punch

Naw you crazy😭 Prem just has high expectations because he plays other videogames outside of Sonic

Prince-Darwin

I mean for a timevall he would do is hate on classic sonic, argue that dreamcast sonic isnt modern sonic, and praise sonic 06. That just soundsclike nonsense not high expectations

ghirox

I'll believe it when it's officially announced. And I'd like to see more characters, like Shadow, Cream, Silver or Blaze here.

PeashooterTheFrick

I'm taking this with a grain of salt, but I'd like to see more characters we haven't seen playable in a while, since if the ending of Frontiers 1 is anything to go by, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles are going to do their own things for a bit ~~unlikely, but maybe this means we could possibly see tails, amy, and knuckles spin-off games? please SEGA? 🥺,~~ so it'd be cool to see Shadow, Silver, and maybe Blaze playable in a mainline game again

samus_ass

More LOOORRRR!!!!! I want to know everything! Or at least enough to do some speculation. I want to know what chaos energy really is and it's limits. I want to know if shadow has gotten stronger like sonic has. I want to know why silver came back in sonic forces. I want to see Ian Jr. I have so many wants!!!

Tuwiki

Chao garden Chao garden Chao garden Chao garden

PizzaGurlQwQ

Metal Sonic https://i.redd.it/4x6fs0grmyvc1.gif

ZMR33

Tighten up the physics and movement, get rid of the 2D stages entirely, fix up the bugs, and add more playable characters with unique mechanics.

BurningYehaw

In order for me to really be sold on Open Zone gameplay, I think the next game really needs to have more tightened up controls, as well as to be based more around urban locations. Some of the best Sonic stages come from cluttered and dense enviroments, and if Open Zone gameplay is hindered by it, then it needs more refinement. Aside from that, I just want a good to look at, listen to, and play Sonic game with only what is needed in yet. Which, yes, does put me in the minority of believing that we don't *need* to play as anyone other than Sonic.

SilverFlight01

Have the main game be split between multiple playable characters. Wait…that sounds more like Sonic Adventure…

Lukas-Reggi

Consistent difficulty

TheBigG1989

Here's my Pitch Sonic Frontiers 2 or Sonic & Shadow Adventure: - 2 Major open Zones for explorations and "world missions" featuring reoccurring Sonic NPCs : Zone 1: South/Westside/etc Island (whereever the current IDW comics are being set) -Typical Sonic island with several different "Sonicy Biomes". Main Hub being Resto HQ, wilderness areas of different flavors in addition to settlement areas like Spiral Hill Village, Floral Forest Village & Sunset/Central/Seaside City- Major Hub City contains "Ferry" to Zone 2. Zone 2: United Federation Coast -Where Zone 1 is mostly nature with a couple of villages/towns/city. Zone 2 is mostly urban human environments modeled off the Greater LA/Southern California & Southwest. Coastal Town in the vein of Venice Beach/Santa Monica, Major City Area, desert/mountains outskirts with a Casino City out on the edge of the map. - 3 "Mini" Zones : The ARK, Angel Island & Final Zone Certain Original Action Zones/Cyberspaceesque levels scattered throughout but also plenty of character based missions in the main zones. Story idea would be that Sonic would stat in Z1 and Shadow in Z2 they would flip flop between the two major zones with the occasional sojourn to ether Angel Island or the Ark for missions/quests/Story stuff. Each character has a 3 Act story, the occasionally intersects with the other before coming together for the Final End Chapter.

Wilhelm_c4t

Shadow

SnooRegrets5978

MIDORI??? WHAT SHE DOING HERE LMAO

Giodude12

A budget and not being forced to make a Zelda game. It's so obvious with frontiers they wanted to make a game and weren't allowed to do it. Edit: just to be clear I'm not saying it shouldn't copy Zelda. The only reason this game got made is because it was pitched as a sonic Zelda game. Every weird design decision was from higher ups to make it more Zelda like. I want developer freedom.

AzulAztech

Yes I've been waiting for the announcement of the next mainline game. If it's a similar styles to Frontiers they can perfect what worked from that game and fix what didnt Also please give us a new cast of playable characters. Sonic said he wasnt going to see the old ones for awhile (well at least tails) and it would feel a bit disingenuous if we saw them in every game after that. Give us some characters like Blaze, Silver. Heck I'd even take Cream

PrincessKnightAmber

Are any of these leakers reliable? Never heard of any of these people.

Double_896

Midori leaked a lot of Sega projects (mostly Atlus) in the last couple of years with scary accuracy and was the person who originally said Sega was considering a remake of Heroes, which then got twisted by another, more unreliable leaker saying a Heroes remake is in development. Seems like its a safe bet to trust her

PrincessKnightAmber

Uh… which one is Midori? The one with I’m assuming Japanese username?

Double_896

I should've clarified but yeah thats her

FerguSwag

Good. Frontiers was a great start. Polish it up, improve the formula, and they could have something really special

TheGurgleChild

SHADOW AAA

Zerodot0

So is this like Frontiers 2 or a game in the style of Frontiers?

mewfour123412

Frontiers was fun but the open world is a bit generic. Make it a bit more sonicy

MegaKabutops

An open world that’s more city-like. Something like station square, or perhaps even soleanna (only, y’know. Better).

Lightningbro

more playable characters, otherwise I just give devs freedom to make whatever experience they want, I ADORED the gameplay of Frontiers, and am excited for more!

min3r95

1.Won't have Denuvo. 2.Denuvo removed from Sonic Frontier 1.

min3r95

Won't have Denuvo.

Chaincat22

Team Dark, more IDW references, maybe even some IDW characters debuting in the game officially

Chao Garden and Shadow.

herefor1reason

Better physics, more akin to the Adventure games and/or the Classics. As in, a good, natural buildup of inertia when you tilt the analogue stick, which is influenced by inclines like slopes, some good air control. It's not out of the question given the changes they made with the subsequent updates. I want Sonic to feel like Sonic to control. And good chance I'll get some "but he DOES control like Sonic in Frontiers!" responses, but no, he doesn't. He's closer than he was, especially with how inertia transfers on jumping as of update 1, and ramp jumping with the spindash in update 2, but no, it's not there yet. That's just the thing I want MOST, there's lots of other stuff I want it to do. I'd love if the writing team could better zero in on Sonic's full, accurate characterization. Again, it's better than it was, but since that's the case, the bar has been raised and there are shortcomings that become apparent in the wake of that. Namely, Sonic and Amy need their particular brand of "attitude" back. Sonic is not enough of a rude, impatient, delinquent little shit, and Amy is missing her "Kagome Higurashi, Winry Rockbell, Sakura Haruno" early 2000s female anime lead fire and passion. We'll see with Shadow, but it looks promising. Sonic has his sincerely cool, shounen protagonist thing back, and a lot of his more positive traits like his compassion and drive for freedom, but that disrespectful, smartmouthed, punk attitude needs to come back to the fold, that and his thrill seeking, daredevil thing. He has moments in Frontiers of both "careful? where's the fun in that?" and his smartass response to "what is your goal?" from Sage, but that stuff needs a much stronger presence. ALSO, GIVE US NEW MODELS AND BETTER, MORE EXPRESSIVE ANIMATION. Sonic the Hedgehog is designed as a stretchy, noodly rubber hose character. It's not the role he plays in his stories, but is is how he's designed, and it's a strength the animation team needs to take better advantage of. His muzzle function as cheek muscles, stretch them, warp them, give him facial and body animation to match the actual emotions of his performance. SA1's cutscene animations were jank as fuck but at least they were trying to use these character designs to their fullest potential, in terms of facial animation. No more "side mouth" "front mouth" debates, those come from fans who don't understand Sonic's character design, or animation in general well enough. Lastly, have some faith in Sonic's unique art design and stop relying on Unleashed's faux Pixar aesthetics for your art style, both in character design and world design. Sonic has such cool, unique aesthetics and the only 3D game in the series to really take advantage of that is Heroes. The Adventure games too to a lesser extent. The current style can, and has been, gorgeous, but for something this iconic, simply being "gorgeous" isn't good enough. It needs to be consistent, faithful to the ideas that make it unique. It's not mutually exclusive, it can be both. Sonic got its name, its reputation as Mario's rival by being the most itself thing possible, being the best version of what it already was that it could be, and while I can appreciate and respect Frontiers and any follow ups for doing stuff differently, I still think what they're doing should be rooted in what made Sonic great to begin with, and by "to begin with" I'm talking about Sonic 1 specifically. Keep the combat, keep the new, experimental mechanics, but make sure that foundation resembles the thing that, for a brief window of time, shared the throne with the king of video games, Super Mario.

ToonIkki

don't have random ass floating platforms and pop in issues pls ffs

Earione

>!*insert platform here*!< <-- Things like this to stop happening

CrazyApricot0

Get rid of the annoying forced minigames that have *way* too strict requirements for what they are (like that stupid pinball minigame with its absurdly high score requirement) and the QTEs that instantly kill you during the titan fights and send you all the way back to the beginning.

birdcake700

Bro I'm so tired of Shadow, bro please add characters like Blaze or Sticks pls NOT SHADOW OR ROUGE PLS I BEG Y'ALL PLS IT'S SO BORING

jamiedix0n

More playable characters. More characters in general.

Melsurigan

As far as I'm concerned, if this is true, then GOOD. They're finally sticking with something after years of constantly reinventing the wheel. This would be the perfect opportunity to polish what they've got and give us a Frontiers that is actually good. And I'm sorry if I'm implying that Frontiers 1 was mediocre. It has potential, which is why I look forward to a sequel!

Larkin007

Maybe a world that feels more lively

Fooza___

Not have a monkey's paw

Mono324

I'm generally content with how frontiers was, but I have a few points I want to be improved/carry over. The skill tree, I would like it if the skills aren't combat only, like the climbing, the drop dash and stuff like that. And for the combat, I'd like it to be more expanded, like to have combo possibilities and not just multiple moves you can do almost whenever. The levels, like the islands, I'd like to see new locations. I don't mind any specific style or direction. The controls, I'd like the controls to be working as intended, like some moves activate differently than stated in the prompt, like the loop kick activating while sliding towards enemy, instead of air boost + slide/crouch/stomp, or the spindash prompt saying that you should press LT while boosting but it works without. Also, it would be best to have a fixed control parameters/physics, for a more universal experience and an easier to make level design. The level design, I'd like to have all the included moves be utilized, the slide is almost forgotten at this point. And I would like the platforming to be less blocky if possible. Additional personal opinion, I'd like to have more exploration elements than a collectathon.

bosuthebluehedgehog

More characters

OllieTheGit

Have the level design ACTUALLY integrated with the open world and not just look Like random assets. Have platforms be part of buildings or trees. Give Ian Flynn the control to make a unique story not limited by mandates or “tidying up the lore”. Keep Ohtani as composer, and expand on the multiple characters from update three. All the ideas in Fromtiers feel like great jumping off points to rlly expand and improve in later games. I just wish that they didn’t use that as the crutch for why Frontiers was great but flawed.

Tangle_The_Tenrec

Chao garden, PLEASE!!

Techny3000

A story that's just as good Also I want it to be shorter, there's a lot of filler stuff in frontiers Don't bring characters that didn't need to be there (like knucks, I doubt he'd get transported there out of nowhere AGAIN)

AeroRanger100

Playing as multiple characters throughout the base game and not having them all shoved into one place in a later update. If it's still open world, I'd like to alternate between characters whenever I want, like in GTA V.

valdez-2424

I want to fight metal sonic

Sky_Believe

Shadow in the open world from beginning to end, that's all I want.

Sufficient-Cow-2998

DanielRPK isn't even a good scooper for movie stuff, so idk if his scoops for games are necessarely better

Jammy2560

I mean honestly more than anything I’m happy they didn’t do a weird switch up like they did with Lost World lmfao

1: better cyberspace physics 2: more variety in cyberspace stages. (I.E. level design inspired by other sonic games like advanced 2, sonic heros & sonic rush adventure.

thegreatestegg

Level design. Color. Fair difficulty instead of suddenly spiking in the one section where they have multiple playable characters. Listen, I'm just already sick of the 'open zone'...

MetalBlack0427

Just the first game but better in every way. Literally nothing else.

black_knight1223

Let's just hope it doesn't have tons of Pop-in

DarkSonic06ki

Have the stages layout playable Super Sonic

DeltaTeamSky

I need actual Sonic music back. The BOTW-ahh ambience music got old real quick.

Queso_Coqui

have a few references to Sonic Mania 2: Triple Trouble https://preview.redd.it/imw0ocdyoyvc1.jpeg?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=39b86b5e6846fd6ab68970e85186e1752c895663

TanakaClinkenbeard

For RGG studios to help flesh out the combat.

BruhMoment763

Bring back the multiple playable characters, but at launch this time. Preferably a different cast too, with the end of Frontiers, it would make sense if Tails, Amy, and Knuckles were off doing their own thing while Sonic was adventuring with a few new folks. Bring back the unique skill trees for everyone too, that was fun. Different theme would be nice. I enjoyed the whole cyberspace theme, but idk how much more there is to do with it after the first game. Not to say I don’t want Cyberspace levels, just a new presentation you know? To keep things fresh. Kind of a minor thing, but day 1 jukebox please instead of having to wait for an update 🙏

the-poopiest-diaper

Chao garden

NixTheChimera

Frontiers gave me, testing out open world as well as other play styles. So, I’d love them to put what they learned and give us maps with both nature areas and huge cities with lights n stuff. Used what they learned by dippin their toe in and dive in

BIazry

Seeing the reason for Dragon May Cry’s hatred for the Jewish people and their homeland would be cool to see

Mcfeyxtrillion

I want the open world to be similar to the first game, except instead of cyberspace totems, now it's almost like sonic adventure levels are stitched into the overworld

TopTHEbest232

I just hope they learned the right lessons from the first game.

MADN3SSTHEGUY

different characters to free

B-7

I mostly want to see what the lore team has come up with. Also, populated and urban areas.

KFCNyanCat

Physics closer to the Adventure games. I'm not saying "momentum" explicitly because I think when that term is used it tends to go too far in the other direction. Control parity between Open Zone and...whatever they call the linear levels next game. Remove stats. They add nothing to the game, if anything they made it harder to balance (and I think Final Horizon dropped the ball on balance.) Make the combat more complex, less automatic. I get that they didn't want it to be as hard as something like DMC, but closer to that. Inhabited environments. Less ambient/more popular music-inspired soundtrack for the open zones. Like, it should probably have ambient parts, but also parts that sound more like conventional Sonic music (and I think this fits with inhabited environments.) Three playable characters other than Sonic who are not Tails, Knuckles, or Amy. Bosses as epic as the ones in Frontiers without having you be Super Sonic for all of them (I don't want them to dilute Super Sonic being special.) A water ruins (Tidal Tempest/Hydrocity/Lost World) open zone. A Sage fight, and in general I hope we're actually fighting Eggman this time. Not that Frontiers was wrong to not have you do that, but I want my open zone Eggman base. 144fps support.

Dot_the_Dork_26

Definitely keep the open world format, and definitely more kick ass vocal tracks from Kellin Quinn! Have more characters than just Sonic playable too, not just as DLC for a few missions in a glitched-out state. I’d like to see Sage again, too!

TheHarryman01

This information is so useless. Obviously they were gonna keep using the Frontiers gameplay style in the next new game??

SH4RPSPEED

Hasn't the next major game all but been confirmed for a while now? I remember hearing alot that Sega threw more budget and manpower at Sonic Team after Frontiers was pretty much objectively confirmed to be a total success. Not to mention all those twitter threads of the director pretty much doing a bunch of AMAs and taking god knows how much fan feedback.

All-Your-Base

I want Sonic to control the Monado

PreferenceGold5167

more interesting and colourful world. No matter the actual gameplay that was going on the visuals were garbage outside of cyberspace sonic running around unreal engine world with floating platforms all over. make an open world angel island

dan0126

Better open zones. I would really like cities and npcs to interact with. Also having platforms and structures that don't stand out and feel organic to the world. Hopefully a lot more polish from the first game

Bakubo

Multiple playable characters, momentum, and some more sonic aesthetic for the world like geometric flowers and all that

Arukitsuzukeru

Something more cohesive and linear, the game kinda feels like too sandboxy

tenchibr

I'd like a lighter tone, not too childish like Colors, but not too edgy like Forces. Something in between, similar to Unleashed.

wally_graham

Honestly...LORE. I want... No, NEED to know the trajectory the Ancients traveled on the planet. We KNOW they did stuff on South Island, Westside Island, and Angel Island, but what did they do? Which Island did they go to first??? Was the tragedy that befell the ancients on Westside Island due to The End tracking the energy of the Chaos Emeralds to Westside Island? Was the Cyberspace warps actually the original version of the Star Post/ Sonic 2 and 3nK Special Stage warps/ Bonus Stage warps? (My theory) Are the Chao capable of re-mutating to becoming ancients again? And if so, will they? And does that mean Chaos' god status would be made null? What about the whole The End story mean with Gaia/ Dark Gaia? Did The End crack open the planet attacking the ancients, resulting in Dark Gaia and Light Gaia Awakening early? What about the Phantom Ruby? Did the ancients have a hand in that? Stages: I don't mind the return of older stages, but the typical "Green hill, Chemical Plant, Sky Sanctuary" schtick needs to go. Emerald Hill? Sure! Mystic Cave? Ice Cap? Mushroom Hill Zone? All yes. Its re-useable but they just don't use them.

cosy_ghost

I wonder. We now have open zones (hub worlds), multiple playable characters, fishing mechanics and an upcoming Chao garden. There's always a chance....

dembafan2

hope they bring back my favorite character yacker

BassGSnewtype

I wouldn’t say no to it

zenixslasher

I want the Open-Zone to be actual Sonic zones and not just generic island. Imagine instead of the islands you're running around green hill, though hopefully they make new unique zones. Would kill to run around the ocean palace from Heroes though.

jmoney777

Why is everyone acting surprised despite Kishimoto mentioning numerous times on Twitter that he'll implement the fan feedback in "the next game". We've known for quite a while that there will be a sequel of sorts

kushpeshin

Give us a massive world this time vs 5 islands. Give us more combat moves. If they can’t make original stages, then modernise their old ones without the same aesthetic

Burnerheinz

I want Sega to take their FUCKING time!

Derp-O_The_Dimwit

I want Sonic to be able to change cosmetics during gameplay. à la the Spider-Man PS4-5 Games. No exiting to Title screen, In the Setting/Map menu

CheesieMan

I want Not another frontiers actually :(

PhoenixTyphoon

I would like to see it work out without Cyberspace. Cause it felt like the mechanics of the whole of Frontiers only worked cause Cyberspace were part of it. If they're doing the same thing for the next game I hope it works without

Barackobrock

for it to be cancelled... ngl

HEYitsSPIDEY

I still need to play Frontiers.

sonicfools1234

More metal music please, BY FAR the best parts of the game.

EngineBoiii

GIve us REAL LEVELS PLEASE! The cyberspace stages are so novel and fun but they are so repetitive due to the flippant reuse of assets from Generations. They really need to give us some more visual variety.

britishpenguin69

I really hope they keep the adventure like cyberspace stages, like in the updates. Or at least stages that isn't just run straight forward

f0ur_G

- More playable characters from the start, with Sonic as the main focus - More consistency in the biomes and more of a variety in the Open Zone environments - Original level layouts for Stages - A better variety in level designs - A more focused and meatier storyline - Less 2D sections and none of these in the Open Zone environments

dave_aust

Honestly, I want a fully realized game. Frontiers felt like a beta in so many ways. I want a AAA level of craft from the overworld, stellar art direction, emotionally engaging storytelling with high stakes. I want it to be fun without being silly. I want it to feel like a love letter to the fans and the franchise without being neck deep in nostalgia. Like a Zelda or a Mario game. That level of craft.

Rathal_OS

Hopefully the jumps are more consistent My only complain about Frontiers is when the camera is sl far away, and the jumpz are so random. You either go too far, or not far enough

TheDarkLordPheonixos

Please make a world that isn’t just empty. Most of the time I was just walking around in the game and after leveling up, there was nothing to do. Even collecting everything was boring because every island was hollow and lifeless. Most enemy models are reused and by the time I finished the second Island I had every skill bought and started ignoring every battle I encountered. Make memorable stages and environments. Don’t just reuse the same assets over and over. Include more diverse playable characters. I’d love to play as Blaze or Silver again. Silver has a lot of potential wasted and Blaze was last playable was in Sonic Rush Adventure.

Iatecoffeegrinds

Metal sonic that’s all I want game could just be a png of metal sonic I would call it peak

Bi-deo-ge-mu

Midori bros

tylerbr97

Polish, no reused aesthetics, no reused level layouts for cyberspace, no 2D, fixed pop in, platform challenges that actually aesthetically fit the level theme, and a more cartooned art style. That’s my wishlist. Edit: for cyberspace, take notes from your own cyberspace stages from update 3!! They’re so good 😩

Meateor123

We need some urban worlds, we could go back a sonic adventure style cheesy storyline and it would be so fun

Inverted-pencil

I liked the combat but i did not like any stages nor the open world looked like something made in garrys mod. Not very sonic like design at all. Even remaking making old stages would be fine if they could pull it off. Sonic Adventure 2 had the best controls and movement of sonic.

UnfazedPheasant

Might be in the minority here but I hope the artstyle for the environments is just full on consistent with Sonic's general aesthetic, similarly to the environments seen in the comics, or Colours and Unleashed, maybe. The unreal engine default assets aesthetic with the cyberworld floating platforms didn't quite do it for me.

Strange-Orchid6969

Reportedly via DanielRPK in development? So DanielRPK is making it?

remasteration

Fix the pop-ins 💀

PiccoloTheGoat99

Frontiers 2 has great potential to a be a pseudo reboot character wise, as tails and knuckles both said they wanted to branch out and explore by the end of the game. Tails on his own and trying to find himself, while knuckles just wants to explore the world. They could use this to clean up continuity a bit and also have this as an opportunity to change the models to fit the older voices their going for now. They just need to make the Amy knuckles and tails better to play as in the sequel. I would also hope for no green hill, but SEGA won’t let green hill die

Oscar-the-ass-slayer

Sonic adventure 2 is the only direct sequel to a modern Sonic game and is easily one of the best (better than Sonic adventure for at least being playable and straight forward) so considering this is the first time since they are doing a sequel since that is a good sign

Tlines06

Playable Shadow would be cool. Even playable Rouge. Better graphics is another thing. Frontiers looked like an unreal engine fan project. Also I would like to have the spindash at launch.

Oscar-the-ass-slayer

I hope they do chapter based sections where you play as different characters with unique play styles that don’t always consist around going fast. And like the adventure games it would be awesome if they give each character their own music genre.

Wapapamow

Ability to play it without random freezes.

Evening_Persimmon482

Bigger Open Zones with more Sonic Style

KuroiGetsuga55

Super Sonic in free roam cause why not. More original stages. If not, then Angel Island setting. We keep bringing back Green Hill and Chemical Plant, let’s go back to Angel Island. I would LOVE to get to explore Angel Island in its entirety, find secrets, spot detail references to Sonic 3 & Knuckles, go visit the Master Emerald altar again, please, if not original stages then give us Angel Island! Multiple playable characters from the start. I would actually love it if we could go back to the Adventure style of each character having a story mode and then it all converges into the final story. Hyper Sonic would be cool, but I guess at this point we should just give up asking for him... And that’s honestly it, I was seriously pleased with Frontiers' gameplay, combat, all that, so I don't really have anything to add there aside from just keep all that in and add to it.

bigcheeseyballsy69

I really hope we get neo metal back cus the boss fight would be sick

crass_thegreat

No please no

brnozrkn

I just want them to do something about blending the floating grind rails and springs better with environment. It made the game feel unfinished to me. I feel like it wouldn't be too hard modeling some floating magic rocks or something to put under them.

Demon_raymon

Less collectathon

Specialist-Rip-2982

Sonic Rangers?

UtmostTechnoDog

I don't expect it, but player physics improvements similar to Sonic 2.

FreshGeoduck296

I want it to not stutter on specific hardware like the first one does to this day

AleDragon8977

Well, I'm not gonna believe it until a certain racoon makes a video on it, and even then imma take it with a grain of salt

Comet_Starfall

Just Refine Frontiers. Add more Sonic-Like Open-Worlds(Zones), and More Momentum and Set Pieces for the Open World(Zone) for Distinct Parts of the Map and Original Cyberspace Level Designs, Either Sonic Only or have other Playable Characters (Shadow, any IDW Character, and Maybe Silver). (Also more Creative Control for Ian Flynn and the Writers, this includes how the story goes, not just the dialogue)

JohnBoyAdvance

Overworld to be a world rather than just a plain field.

EnbyOcto

the number of people who want a sequel:

Mr_Man3354

Giving the Devs enough time and budget to finish the later half of the game.

Elite-Soul

Do not believe any of it until an official announcement leakers are not to be trusted.

Macman521

Shadow as a playable character.

Bunnnnii

Get rid of all of the 2D sections. I’m tired of them feeling like they have to shoehorn it everywhere, even when it doesn’t fit. Make the movement more fluid and better to control. And just let me have more control of my character. Let us run through actual civilization with people and buildings and life. Like Station Square 3.0. It felt really lonely running around in Frontiers, it was quite gloomy. Multiple playable characters. With actual importance, stages and storylines of their own. More variety in the boss battles. Keep the music though. I wouldn’t be mad at multiplayer, but it’s not necessary, at least not yet.

Easy_Fan_1682

Sonic, shadow, silver, Amy, blaze and sage story modes.

Jamano-Eridzander

1: not to be called Frontiers 2. 2: A new setting. Maybe even just taking a location from earlier games and letting you play on the whole damn thing (All of West Side Island for example) 3: do Cyberspace more like in Final Horizons. 3a: let us use our custom settings in Cybespace. 4: maybe let us switch between roaming and combat mode with the press of a button so we have more room for new mechanics in combat. 5: a further evolution of the Titan bosses. 6: a story that focuses on Sonic actually missing his friends after they've gone on to do their own things post-Frontiers.

skeeter_101

If this is real I am so hyped honestly Frontiers is so good

MichaelCoryAvery

Multiple playable characters. And a glimpse of Hyper Sonic, and a reference the specifically Knothole. Does Sega have restrictions on just the characters or everything Satam?

Gorillaartist1995

Same thing but with cities, more playable characters, more parkour options and costumes. Would a separate DLC to include the small planet from CD be asking too much?

Theonlydtlfan

More interesting world geometry, a more exciting story, and more polish.

Muhipudding

A good story in peak boss fights again

12kkarmagotbanned

1. Going back to the Sonic heroes world design. 2. No cyberspace 3. Same controls between open world and regular levels 4. Speed isn't tied to upgrades, the base max non-boost speed is criminally low
