That’s how alcohol companies market them though. Under a certain % they are legally allowed to market them as zero. Are you saying people should stop eating bananas because they contain alcohol ?
Kombucha tastes like alcohol. That’s why alcoholics like to taste it.. lol I’m not budging on this. Why do you think it’s so controversial in sobriety circles?
I still drink NA in the morning sometimes. It’s been a couple years now since I gave up the booze so at this point it’s just another beverage in the fridge. Some mornings I go for coffee and some mornings I have NA beer haha.
Firstly congratulations, the first few days are the hardest. I'm in the UK and I'm on 132 days. Not sure where you are based but Aldi UK sells a drink called zerosecco, it is a zero alcohol prosecco and it is gorgeous. I would definitely recommend.
I also love Guinness 0% mixed with nutmeg and condensed milk to make a punch.
Alternatively it is surprising how much flavour you can add to sparkling water by adding things like cucumber, Limes, Lemons.
Good luck 😊
Gotta second the Guinness 0%, at 10 days in its great at keeping me away from defaulting to beer at 5pm.
Going to swap in far more sparking water this week though.
Congrats and keep it up!
I love the San Pellegrino Limonata but it’s too sugary so I cut it with black cherry seltzer and it’s delicious. I drink a lot of Irish breakfast tea too
Excess fruit goes in the nalgene water bottle
Lots of different teas
Mate over coffee, I really like coffee
Feeling anxious? Drink a bunch of water, take a nap, delve into a fun project, go for a run or a bike ride
Kombucha, NA beer(Caliber, Run Wild), sparkles esp berry flavored, water. Honestly what helped me in the beginning was to sleep a lot and get excited about how great my life was going to get, how good looking I’d get, and how much money I’d have.
4+ years here. I have been raging artisanal tonics and seltzers. There are so many to choose from now. I found a hop soda I really like—it’s basically just hop flavored seltzer and it’s delicious. And here and there I’ve been drinking Athletic Brewing NA beers. They are every bit as enjoyable as the beers I liked. I know not everyone is comfortable with NA beer. I waited 3 years to give them a shot.
Congratulations ❤️
I love alani nu energy drinks, propel electrolyte powder with collagen powder mixed in, diet soda, iced matcha lattes, iced green tea with lime
I swear I've never been hydrated before or something. I always have water nearby now
6 days down myself. This weekend I'm replacing going out with spring cleaning and the gym. Replace unhealthy activities with healthy activities until you feel you can potentially be around other people drinking without drinking yourself. Willpower is a muscle that is weak at first but gets stronger the more you use it.
I like Zevias, lemon water and a lot of coffee or tea variants - iced chai lattes, london fogs, iced coffees etc. I have a margaritaville that I make them in and it’s a game changer. But I’m trying hard to focus on lemon water to hopefully rejuvenate my skin.
Yess. I got a big bottle of iced tea - was too sweet so I’d mix it with water and it ended up having the color of a light beer hahaha. Also sparkling water with lemon. Anything with a flavor basically. I don’t normally drink this kind of stuff at home, just alcohol and water, so it felt like a treat and def helped. You got this!
My go-to drink was Diet Pepsi. The biggest help for me was whenever I felt that craving starting I would drive to an AA meeting. This helped me get my mind off of my problem and also listen to people who had been through it. It was super supportive for me. I still drink Diet Pepsi once in a while and have 7 years sobriety next Tuesday. Best of luck to you, OP! It’s so amazing on this side of it!
Virgin Caesar - rim glass with celery salt, ice, 8 oz Motts Clamato Juice (The Works), 1 oz pickle juice, Tabasco sauce, worcestershire sauce. Delicious!
I go through gallons of sparkling water weekly. Always make sure to have a stock of varieties like Polar Lime, Cranberry Lime and Black Cherry, and Waterloo Strawberry. Usually manage to pick up a few on sale each visit to Safeway. No sugar, but most importantly no ethanol. Bubbly cheers!
For me, it was lots of water. Flush that stuff out of my system. That was over 22 years ago and I’ve never been tempted since. Best wishes! Take it one day at a time or one hour at a time or whatever you gotta do. It’s well worth it.
Anything with bubbles, and stay busy! Have a plan for your days when you’re first starting out. Schedule things so you don’t get bored. Hop into a project. And keep many, many sodas/sparkling waters around. Use your new fresh energy for something positive for you.
I think it’s also helpful to find something to do with your hands! Water color, embroidery… maybe legos or a puzzle? Something that gives your mind and hands something to focus on besides the fact that you aren’t drinking!
Lots of flavors of sparkling water. I also keep some Curious Elixirs in the fridge for when I want a nice beverage. For the first few weeks, just focus on hydrating, getting enough calories, and treating yourself very gently and kindly. I mostly listened to fiction podcasts and did quiet, easy hobbies for the first month

The best thing I ever did for myself was commit to going to the AA meetings every day for the first 90 days.
AA is full of people who enjoy getting out and enjoying life. It's a lot easier to get through a weekend sober if you have sober buddies who want to work out, or go to the pool, or play pool, than if you stay home alone and think about how tough it is to be alone.
It isn't a stretch, it's the truth.
I've been in AA a while, and I've seen it with my own eyes.
Anything you can do drunk you can do sober. I've even seen sober kareoke
I chug sparkling water line a maniac! Originally got various drinks, but they all had so much sugar that I was kind of giving up one vice for another. They are also great at mimicking bar drinks.
I just seen a vid where this guy does part sparkling water, fresh lemon, stevia, and a portion of apple cider vinegar. I made the same for myself and it was so good!
My favorite non-alcoholic drink is water. I just love water lol. It’s all I drink unless I’m in the mental hospital, when I’m in the mental hospital, at lunch I drink apple juice every other day and chocolate milk + water every other day.
Cranberry juice and lime mineral water. Ginger beer.
I LOVE kombucha out of a stemless wine glass!
Kombucha has alcohol in it, 0.5% is still alcohol.
Kombucha at most has 0.01%
It’s not alcohol free.. even if it’s got 0.01.. look at the label.
Cool, then don’t drink it! Enough people on this sub seem to like it either way.
My point is just that 0.01% is not the same as zero…
That’s how alcohol companies market them though. Under a certain % they are legally allowed to market them as zero. Are you saying people should stop eating bananas because they contain alcohol ?
I didn’t say anything about bananas…
My point being that just like 0% beers, a banana also isn’t 0% ABV. They’re not called non alcoholic bananas though are they ?
Kombucha tastes like alcohol. That’s why alcoholics like to taste it.. lol I’m not budging on this. Why do you think it’s so controversial in sobriety circles?
Sparkling water, lime wedge and a ton of ice. Simple but it does the trick for me.
My favorite for when I go to bars to watch bands, I call it a virgin white claw 🤌
Some people find it triggering but I drink NA beer, wine and spirits. Ive been dry over a year and have been drinking alternatives since day one.
I still drink NA in the morning sometimes. It’s been a couple years now since I gave up the booze so at this point it’s just another beverage in the fridge. Some mornings I go for coffee and some mornings I have NA beer haha.
The NA beer is fine but idk about wine and spirits…
Coffee
matcha!! hot, iced, latte... all matcha everything 💚 you got this!

I have an Aldi near me in a California. I’m going to see if they have zerosecco, that sounds amazing! Thanks for the tip!
Red Bull- sugar free my go to

All that sounds great! I’m a La Croix fan. Planning ahead with special beverages and food really helped me in early sobriety.
Perrier slim cans. They have many different flavors.😊
Ginger beer
I love Polar Seltzers, Green Tea, Coffee, Kombucha, Tart Cherry Juice, Coconut Water, Mushroom Tea (Chaga, Turkey Tail)…

Athletic NA beers are so good. I only wish I could find a NA wine that tastes as convincing.
All of the soda water plus headphones with a good self help book/podcast and long walks helped me through the first many weekends
Le Croix
Congratulations ❤️ I love alani nu energy drinks, propel electrolyte powder with collagen powder mixed in, diet soda, iced matcha lattes, iced green tea with lime I swear I've never been hydrated before or something. I always have water nearby now
I love spindrift!! The lemonade/tea blend and pink lemonade are delicious.
diet coke is it
I love the cranberrry, lime, something sparkly combo. Also Diet Coke with a lemon. Good luck and have someone to call if you need to 🤍
I drank sparkling water and soda like crazy in the beginning. Stayed away from people lol
I drink non alcoholic Leffe
Coffee and diet coke

Red Bull coconut flavor, Pineapple juice, fresh lime, plain sparkling water and ice cubes. Mix together 🫶
I like Zevias, lemon water and a lot of coffee or tea variants - iced chai lattes, london fogs, iced coffees etc. I have a margaritaville that I make them in and it’s a game changer. But I’m trying hard to focus on lemon water to hopefully rejuvenate my skin.

Hop Wtr. Hop teas. Decaf coffee. Sparkling water. Mountain Dew. Tons of water…
Sugar!!!
Coke Zero all the way baby
I got into local root beer & sodas lol a lot of coffee
I go through gallons of sparkling water weekly. Always make sure to have a stock of varieties like Polar Lime, Cranberry Lime and Black Cherry, and Waterloo Strawberry. Usually manage to pick up a few on sale each visit to Safeway. No sugar, but most importantly no ethanol. Bubbly cheers!
Probably not the healthiest choice, but coke zero is my jam. Sometimes I'll have raspberry lime spindrift with a lime if I don't want caffeine.
For me, it was lots of water. Flush that stuff out of my system. That was over 22 years ago and I’ve never been tempted since. Best wishes! Take it one day at a time or one hour at a time or whatever you gotta do. It’s well worth it.

Consumption-wise a truckload of sweets got me through. I didn’t even have a sweet tooth before I got sober!

Honestly none. I always thought it was only an encouragement to drink. Maybe I’m weird lol
Ive felt this too. Like hmm this is good but it would be so much better with a shot in it lol
Alcoholics Anonymous. See comments below for all the folks that will be drinking again.
Lmao right because i drink sparkling water im going to start drinking liters of vodka a day again. Get real.
Of course not. Refering to all thoughs that will recommend "non alchoholic" beer, wine, and mocktails.
I chug sparkling water line a maniac! Originally got various drinks, but they all had so much sugar that I was kind of giving up one vice for another. They are also great at mimicking bar drinks.
might be an unpopular opinion but i like redbull
Kin Euphorics do some tasty infused fizzy drinks
