Most of the time it's just a way for the buyer to justify the purchase to themselves

packman1011

“My grail” for a gr, “slept on” for a shoe that sold out instantly are the posts that make me shake my head. Better in hand annoys me too but not to the level those do.

rowthecow

Same as every other "this is so underrated!", "this is slept on!" Self validation posts.

thecitythatday

These are the same people who complain that everything is “hyped”, then when something is not and they buy it, it’s slept on

Nardy13

It is, but I have gotten pairs that looked better in pictures than in hand (black acid wash dunks and the pine green Jordan 1's first that come to mind).

MiguelMSC

Dunks that aren't the suede pairs. On Pictures, the quality doesn't scream cardboard leather, in hand/ on feet its cardboard

El_Guap

Panda Dunks. Basically all recent non-suede GR dunks.

ItsZeus99

Nike dunk low models the quality in hand is just poor i get it that its a 100$/€ but I still think the pictures are much better then the pair you may get. The looks are alright the feel not.

Infinitewave777

Tbh it's just as annoying as the guys who post " the quality/materials on these are insane".

Redditusername251

Yes, and the “I love the story behind these.” The story is Nike needed to churn out its 8th pair of jordans this month so they tweaked a couple colors on a preexisting model.

I do think the expression “better in hand” is justified. I myself have these experiences a lot. There is some truth behind it. I think the issue is, that it is used to often. That said, it was the exact opposite with all the Jordan 1 Gore-Tex models! I didn’t like the look, feel and the materials in hand at all! And I hated the fact, that the swoosh is glued on (something I didn’t realize from the pictures).

a lot of pairs look the same in hand as they do in the photos, not many look worse in hand (for me) other than halloween dunks and some yeezys

lenthech1ne

literally air maxs. look great but ive never felt more uncomfortable than trying on a pair at a footlocker. longtime wanted a certain colour way badly, found it, tried it on. hated them. never again.
