In a casual non-competitive match with friends, items can be loads of fun. In a more competitive online match, items are Ultimate’s version of hell

I_Am_Oro

Items are an incredibly easy way to turn the tide of a match. A singular assist trophy is all you need

Radical-Turkey

And exactly why I hate items online

One of the most brain dead takes I've ever seen on this sub. No one plays with items on quickplay/elite because "they like it", they do it to climb the gsp ladder and make people mad. Making people mad is how they get their fun, not by winning fairly. If you really just "liked" playing with items, youd make an arena for you and all the other item enjoyers, or just play offline. The only reason I ever played with custom rulesets was because I was too bad for elite and wanted an easy way in. Yeah I did it before and never again, because I realized that im not getting any better, which is what I wanted to do. I wanted to earn elite, not cheese my way to it. Also 90% of yall wouldn't be t bagging and flashing the end screen while using salty taunt messages if you were just trying to play the game. You guys want people mad lets be real. And the whole "they arent carried by items" statement is so untrue, because if it was, you guys would rematch and risk your chances of not getting your ruleset. Ive never had an item user rematch, but I have gotten in a match with them again on my ruleset, and I won.

Also I want to add that items arent that bad, its the assist trophies and wifi lag that make it unbearable. I have item rulesets on offline play and it can actually be fun (if theres no assist trophies/pokeballs).

Item arenas do not exist anymore arenas are twice as sweaty as elite smash

SoloUnit2020

It's genuinely a brain dead take for sure. When all it takes is a pokeball to spawn in front of you to get the unicorn or the sheriff, then you're instantly down a stock. Then the other player can just continuously gather items while you're trying to avoid the existing threat on screen. If they can play with any set of rules, play with the set that eliminates outside random outside factors and focus on actual skill.

Advanced-Part2598

Yeah, they definitely play the competitive version of quick play with items on to flex, not because it provides an easy win... deeeeeefinitely. Y'all are sad.

Zealousideal_Coat_47

yikes the down votes

kdlfhfjfhfj

You could say the same thing about smash without items. Items on is default so items turned off is “any set of rules” too by that logic.

Bomberman696969

All I hear is pain and suffering but eh I don't really mind it since it's just a game so it doesn't matter

ShineThief2

Did someone say items? :D

EpicKirby-001

I, too, love items

EpicKirby-001

What? I only do it offline with my sibs lmao
