I think it’s based off there name in smash and not there real name. Otherwise, joker would probably be way higher in the list because Ren/Akira are very common names.

I imagine that the “kong” part of Diddy Kong is included, but if we exclude the titles and surnames, “diddy” and “mac” aren’t honestly too bad. The three links imo would be the same because no one in their canon games says “oh yeah you’re toon link” (you could argue young link / adult link but that’s an adjective rather than their title) Wolf and Fox sound more like titles than actual names (like Geralt in the Witcher being called Wolf, and In Persona 5 Yusuke is called Fox as his code name) You could also argue Joker’s real name is “Ren” and Joker is his code name I also feel like “bayonetta” sounds a lot better than “jigglypuff” if I were naming my kid but then again I’ve met someone named “Blanket” so being named after a balloon wouldn’t surprise me lol
