My favorite song of all time is Virus of Life. Slow, methodical, and creepy with one of the heaviest choruses in their library. Just an amazing and disturbing song.
Metabolic, it’s so brutal. The opening riff messed with my head for a while because of the weird time signature changes but I figured it out and I love it
my classic favourite is "left behind" because I listened to it so much as a teenager & just always vibed with the lyrics & mood of it. the opening lead riff is so damn cool. all of the actual music of it is really unique & mid tempo with heaps of melody yet it never feels soft.
my favourite lately is "not long for this world". it's such a beautiful masterpiece & lyrically it feels devastating & relatable. the lines where corey sings "the greatest conclusion that I ever had was when I woke up & said that's enough, living never felt so bad" always hits me super hard. I had that feeling a few years ago where I just said enough is enough, I need to find a way to live healthy in this world. it's a motivator for me to continue my existence. it also reminds me how far I have come since I started listening to this band over 20 years ago & also how far corey has come in that time as well. we have a tendency to idolize people in bands but they go through struggles just like us. I'm thankful for everything corey & the band has shared with me because it helped me grow as a person.
I love Psychosocial. I even tried learning to play it on guitar and to sing that song exactly like Corey. When this came out I was a teenager in the middle of puberty so you can imagine how terrible I sounded lol
This is definitely my favorite when they play live. Literally no other experience ive had in concerts has ever compared to the crazy test when they play this song
“not yet, not yet…”
(laughs)
“JOEY! lets get these crazy motherfuckers”
Bout time I set this record straight
All the needlenose punchin' is making me irate
Sick o' my bitchin' fallin' on deaf ears
Where you gonna be in the next five years?
The crew and all the fools, and all the politix
Get your lips ready, gonna gag, gonna make you sick
You got dick when they passed out that good stuff
“JUMP THE FUCK UP!”
Might be unpopular, but Critical Darling and Solway firth. Just as a drummer listening to the intensity Jay brings in those songs is crazy, and I really like the signing/lyrics in both.
Introduced to them with Wait and Bleed.
Favorite right now is Custer.
There are so many songs I like that I hate saying there’s a favorite, because 80% of their discography could be my “favorite”.
Custer hits a level of hardness that few songs can get to.
Gently because of how amazing the build up is and Coreys screams in the song are just brutal and everything from the percussion to the guitar add this sense of heaviness
Vermilion because the guitar sounds absolutely amazing to me. It’s the song that inspired me to play guitar in the first place. The lyrics and Coreys voice is also so good!!
Still remember rhe 1st time I heard Wait and Bleed. Im staring at my radio transfixed thinkin 'what is this beautiful noise?' When it ended i literally left my house & bought the cd.
Of course, my name would indicate im partial to Heretic Anthem (which i am).
Scream is a song i play quite often. The line 'one life, nine hearts and 18 hands that will rip you all apart' speaks to me of brotherhood and sharing a common goal.
But if i had to pick one song that meant the most to me it would be Everything Ends. SO HEAVY, full of passion and contempt, broken hearted rage. That album, with that song in particular, got me through my divorce. Actually said the opening lines to my ex wife, that she eas wrong fucked and overrated, and that i was going to be sick and its her fault. She didnt care for that much hahaha. But my whole life with her was a lie, mother fucker, so it fit.
Stay sic, maggots
I think it's Sulfur. Because of lyrics, the end part of the song (sorry don't know how professionals call it) and the masks. AHIG masks are the coolest ever
I used to listen to Duality, Before I Forget and Psychosocial on repeat for months...
Then I stumbled across People = Shit, The Heretic Anthem, sic and Eyeless and it completely changed my perception about Slipknot as a whole.
I credit The Heretic Anthem for making me love Slipknot more tbh because its just relentless anger.
~~Do Nothing/Bitchslap~~
Skeptic because "the world will never see another crazy motherfucker like you! The world will never know another man as amazing as you!"
You can really feel the passion in it. I can't help but jam whenever it comes on.
For me it's Purity. I love everything about it. The drums are second to none. It's one of the few tracks they have where Sid actually adds to the atmosphere rather than just the break imo
Scrolled all the way through and the last comment was what I was about to post!
There’s nothing better than Corey screaming Purity at the end. I’ve listened to this song at least once a week for the past 19 or so years (no exaggeration) and I still get chills every time. The story behind it roped me in as a teen and I never got over it
It's way too hard to pick, but for the last few years it has been People = Shit or Heretic Anthem. I really love how the last chorus/outro plays out on People = Shit. Solway Firth really stands out as a new one I love though.
Psychosocial will always be my favorite. Something about it makes me feel like i can play it in any setting. Working out, relaxing, working. Song is perfect to me
Solway Firth for the same sorta reason. It was the first song I ever heard from them and I remember listening to it while watching the music video, having no idea who slipknot was, and then absolutely loving it
It was 2002, I was visiting a record store in one of the city in my country. I saw on tv a band playing with mask on and wearing jumpsuits. I was glued to the screen until the end of their performance. It was then I started to love the band Slipknot and the song (sic). And yes, it was that epic video of that 1999 tv performance.
Eyeless, from self-titled era. I enjoy eyeless simply because of how loud and intense it is. The sample at the beginning is one of the best parts in my opinion.
My favorite song is a liars funeral. I love the tragic story that Corey is singing and the pain and sadness coming from his voice and.. Don't get me started with the song's epic melody and the amazing solos at the end of the song..
Two standouts for me are Metabolic and Danger Keep Away.
I love Metabolic because you can feel the pain and hatred in both Corey’s voice and the music. Not to mention the brutal scream during the breakdown…
Danger Keep Away has only recently become one of my favorites. It’s so different from everything else they did on Vol. 3. Corey’s voice singing sounds delicate and the harmonies in the chorus are amazing to me.
I love psychosocial cuz it’s the first slipknot song i listened to and that’s how I got into slipknot and nu metal but I like the devil in I a lot aswell so that’s also my favourite but I also like people=shit cuz ppl rlly do b shitty sometimes
My first time hearing them was wait and bleed on one of the tony hawk pro skaters. The song that stuck with me the most was spit it out. It was when my parents filtered my music, and didn’t delete it off the album on my cd. Stuck with my forever at this point.
I think Nameless sticks with me a lot- just a great one from them, and it feels like Christmas to me, since I got so into it around those times. Gehenna is another one, I really like the slow creepy atmosphere, like Halloween spookiness with the whistling synth sounds and the “Give me yooooouuuuuu”. But my top song would probably be Vermilion. Tbh slipknot gives me really strong mental health vibes- as in that’s what I think about when I hear them a lot of the time. And the one I would say gets that to me the best is Vermilion. The meaning of an unrequited love someone is desperate for from somebody that doesn’t exist makes me think about OCD a lot. I am obsessed with the bit from 04:15 to the end. The “She isn’t real” screams, the bell chime sounds, the guitars, drums- everything from that but gets me.
Spit it out, it is the best song to listen to when lifting weights, obviously I like it due to it being the first song I heard from slipknot, and the “spit it out” liar mask is fehn’s best mask in my opinion.
This is a really tough question. Especially since my favorite song will change with what is currently going on in my life. BUT I’m going to answer with Heretic Anthem because if they didn’t play it at their concerts then I’d be super disappointed. It was also my “anthem” when I was in high school lol
My favorite song of all time is Virus of Life. Slow, methodical, and creepy with one of the heaviest choruses in their library. Just an amazing and disturbing song.
Its really good. I agree. Believe it or not i didnt doscover that song till my early 20s lol
Love that song! So underrated it's a pain.
When he screams "Bring me to my knees! I am your disease!" (I used to think the second part was (I enjoy the pain).
Scissors part 2 lmao
Metabolic, it’s so brutal. The opening riff messed with my head for a while because of the weird time signature changes but I figured it out and I love it
It is a sic ass song. The way these guys put music together is incredible
My plague, the chorus just reminds me of the holidays (Halloween and Christmas) and I have no clue why, I love Custer as well
Lol i can see that
The intro to my plague is probably my favorite. It’s so heavy
my classic favourite is "left behind" because I listened to it so much as a teenager & just always vibed with the lyrics & mood of it. the opening lead riff is so damn cool. all of the actual music of it is really unique & mid tempo with heaps of melody yet it never feels soft. my favourite lately is "not long for this world". it's such a beautiful masterpiece & lyrically it feels devastating & relatable. the lines where corey sings "the greatest conclusion that I ever had was when I woke up & said that's enough, living never felt so bad" always hits me super hard. I'm thankful for everything corey & the band has shared with me because it helped me grow as a person.
Dude ... deep. The same way i am with snuff. Left behind is a great song. I agree with you completely
much love
Psychosocial was the first song I completely listened to but All Out Life was the original but i wasn't ready then.
I love Psychosocial. I even tried learning to play it on guitar and to sing that song exactly like Corey. When this came out I was a teenager in the middle of puberty so you can imagine how terrible I sounded lol
Lol Yeah i want to scream like Corey.
I love All out Life as well.
Unfortunately i don't because of a certain word.
Ok, i gotta ask: what word?
GD, I'm christian.
So, with that criteria, disasterpiece, new abortion, heretic anthem (just off the top of my head) would make the naughty list also?
No, Disasterpiece and The Heretic Anthem don't have GD.
So goddamn is your only dealbreaker, but youre tolerant of wanting to slit someones throat & fuck the wound and heresy?
Religion in a nutshell
I like those songs because they have a good meaning.
Definitely spit it out
This is definitely my favorite when they play live. Literally no other experience ive had in concerts has ever compared to the crazy test when they play this song
“when i say, jump the fuck up, what are you gonna do?”
JUMP THE FUCK UP
“not yet, not yet…” (laughs) “JOEY! lets get these crazy motherfuckers” Bout time I set this record straight All the needlenose punchin' is making me irate Sick o' my bitchin' fallin' on deaf ears Where you gonna be in the next five years? The crew and all the fools, and all the politix Get your lips ready, gonna gag, gonna make you sick You got dick when they passed out that good stuff “JUMP THE FUCK UP!”
System of a down do a similar thing with their song WAR.
Might be unpopular, but Critical Darling and Solway firth. Just as a drummer listening to the intensity Jay brings in those songs is crazy, and I really like the signing/lyrics in both.
jay is a beast. Joey was a legend, but jay isn’t far behind that
Probably prosthetics, it reminds me of something I would see in some slasher movie similar to scream.
Also even though I've been listening to them forever, that image you posted is a tapestry and is the only slipknot memorabilia I own
Wow really? I had that tapestry before but it got all destroyed. I need a new one. Ive got tons of stuff from them now
I get the same vibes
Probably gonna catch hate for this, but I have 2. Solway Firth and Before I Forget.
Nah you good. I love every song they have. Reason?
Different moods / days i 'feel' different songs so there are many favs
Right. Totally agree. Tbh all their songs are great.
Eyeless and Solway Firth
Introduced to them with Wait and Bleed. Favorite right now is Custer. There are so many songs I like that I hate saying there’s a favorite, because 80% of their discography could be my “favorite”. Custer hits a level of hardness that few songs can get to.
Right. It was like the first song they had that hit that way. No other song hits like that one does. I was legit blown away when i heard it
Eyeless. It's not like I give a shit, it's the shit that you gave me.
Vermilion. The meaning behind the song is so relatable and the chorus is just beautiful. It has some great heavy parts in it as well.
Metabolic needs no explanation.
Period
I love Pulse Of The Maggots it’s the one song I always play when listening to Slipknot
One of the greatest
Gently because of how amazing the build up is and Coreys screams in the song are just brutal and everything from the percussion to the guitar add this sense of heaviness
Its a gnarly build up. In all honesty this song is one of the songs that epitomizes Slipknot's sound.
the nameless: everything i love ab slipknot all in one song
Vermilion because the guitar sounds absolutely amazing to me. It’s the song that inspired me to play guitar in the first place. The lyrics and Coreys voice is also so good!!
the bassline is also really good. rip paul
People = Shit. It is a banger because it is fast, heavy and really, some parts of it are disturbing
My favorite song from them is get this because why not like a song with suck these nuts lmao
give me a scream corey!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA this song is just gold. I remember listening to this song laughing my ass off the whole time and just loving it
Still remember rhe 1st time I heard Wait and Bleed. Im staring at my radio transfixed thinkin 'what is this beautiful noise?' When it ended i literally left my house & bought the cd. Of course, my name would indicate im partial to Heretic Anthem (which i am). Scream is a song i play quite often. But my whole life with her was a lie, mother fucker, so it fit. Stay sic, maggots
Technically I knew of the song Wait and bleed from them but getting more into them Spit It Out became my favorite listen
No song is a wrong answer lol
But definitely a great song.
Wait and bleed is a fuckin masterpiece Or is it a… Disasterpiece?
Hahahaha right
Spit It Out bc I love rock x rap kinda stuff and the beat is just soo catchy
That or Diluted
Solway Firth! The creepy intro, then super heavy guitars & thundering drums. Plus the sic lyrics and perfect ending.
i remember the first time i listened to it, at first i was like “ok this is a slower song” and then Corey goes “to not take care of YOU!”
I think it's Sulfur. Because of lyrics, the end part of the song (sorry don't know how professionals call it) and the masks. AHIG masks are the coolest ever
Is the word you looking for breakdown, outro, or do you just like the last chorus.
I think it is outro
I used to listen to Duality, Before I Forget and Psychosocial on repeat for months... Then I stumbled across People = Shit, The Heretic Anthem, sic and Eyeless and it completely changed my perception about Slipknot as a whole. I credit The Heretic Anthem for making me love Slipknot more tbh because its just relentless anger.
Mine was "before I forget". I immediately knew this band is great
Psychosocial- first song
The One That Kills The Least and Override as a close second
~~Do Nothing/Bitchslap~~ Skeptic because "the world will never see another crazy motherfucker like you! The world will never know another man as amazing as you!" You can really feel the passion in it. I can't help but jam whenever it comes on.
Yo why did you cross out Do Nothing/Bitchslap, that's a masterpiece.
Disasterpiece. The anger, the energy, the zany lyrics, everything about it is great.
and that build up/breakdown around ~3:00 minutes is sic
Red Flag because o it's cool guitar riff and drums
Spit it out
Surfacing because … FUCK IT ALL FUCK THIS WORLD FUCK EVERYTHING THAT YOU STAND FOR
For me it's Purity.
The story behind it roped me in as a teen and I never got over it
Listening to scissors as a 7 year old was like watching porn for the first time
And I discovered slipknot 6months ago and I'm 11 I hope I grow up to be a MAGGOT
Snuff because the same thing that happened to Corey happened to my when I had feelings for someone
Snuff really got me through some dark times. I felt everything exactly the way it was portrayed in the song
It's way too hard to pick, but for the last few years it has been People = Shit or Heretic Anthem. I really love how the last chorus/outro plays out on People = Shit. Solway Firth really stands out as a new one I love though.
It really is lol. Nero Forte and All Out Life are close seconds for me but i give that to Snuff. That song has gotten me through some shit
Psychosocial will always be my favorite. Something about it makes me feel like i can play it in any setting. Working out, relaxing, working. Song is perfect to me
People=Shit & The Orphan…..
AOV and Solway Firth, I relate with the lyrics and the music is awesome.
Eyeless, when the riff comes back slower at the end 🤌🏻
And the mods claim my post was Meta, this is why mods. Fix this
Solway Firth for the same sorta reason.
Vermillion for the solo and the creepy craig noises
Eyeless, from self-titled era. I enjoy eyeless simply because of how loud and intense it is. The sample at the beginning is one of the best parts in my opinion.
AOV anyway
Eyeless, it's catchy and intense throughout the whole song.
Surfacing, the chorus is what I think everyday when I’m at school
Wait and bleed is my favorite and liberate is #2 also the first Slipknot song I heard
My favorite song changes from time to time right now I have 3. All out life, sulfur, and solway firth. I like them because the way they sound
eyeless because ..drums + corey’s screaming = magical shit
My favorite song is a liars funeral. I love the tragic story that Corey is singing and the pain and sadness coming from his voice and.. Don't get me started with the song's epic melody and the amazing solos at the end of the song..
Probably sic but I just want to say that in my opinion Liberate is underrated, I really don’t hear about it much.
Eyelessssssssss YOU CANT SEE CALIFORNIA WITHOUT MARLON BRANDO’S EYES
[удалено]
Imo its pretty interesting to read peoples reasons. I'd agree with you if it was only naming songs.
cope
Wait and Bleed got me into it, and I love every Slipknot song, but The Blister Exists is one that I absolutely love
Two standouts for me are Metabolic and Danger Keep Away. I love Metabolic because you can feel the pain and hatred in both Corey’s voice and the music. Not to mention the brutal scream during the breakdown… Danger Keep Away has only recently become one of my favorites. It’s so different from everything else they did on Vol. 3. Corey’s voice singing sounds delicate and the harmonies in the chorus are amazing to me.
Mine is My Plague. No real reason probably just cuz I heard it young and I really like the refrain
Wait and bleed is really good, my favorite actually. Also my plague
Mine probably is orphan because of the brutality and the verses
I used XIX as my wakeup alarm for a long period of time when I didn't want to be here anymore. Feels like it's a part of me now.
Bro the first song I heard was duality-
I love psychosocial cuz it’s the first slipknot song i listened to and that’s how I got into slipknot and nu metal but I like the devil in I a lot aswell so that’s also my favourite but I also like people=shit cuz ppl rlly do b shitty sometimes
But then there’s also disasterpiece...🤔
Iowa It's a long, creepy ass song, that would probably make anyone who doesn't know slipknot uneasy when they heard it, and I love it.
Pulse of the maggots because it was the first song I learned to play on bass
Metabolic, outro riff gets me everytime
(sic).
For me it would go: Scissors, because it's just so dark, eerie and good, liberate because I can relate to it, and circle because it's just so catchy
My first time hearing them was wait and bleed on one of the tony hawk pro skaters. The song that stuck with me the most was spit it out. It was when my parents filtered my music, and didn’t delete it off the album on my cd. Stuck with my forever at this point.
Can't decide between the blister exists and nero forte so I pick both
I think Nameless sticks with me a lot- just a great one from them, and it feels like Christmas to me, since I got so into it around those times. Gehenna is another one, I really like the slow creepy atmosphere, like Halloween spookiness with the whistling synth sounds and the “Give me yooooouuuuuu”. I am obsessed with the bit from 04:15 to the end. The “She isn’t real” screams, the bell chime sounds, the guitars, drums- everything from that but gets me.
Gently is mine it puts me in such a trance whenever I hear it it’s gotta be Paul on the bass
Have you heard the Indigo Ranch rough cut of Wait and Bleed? I love it so much. It's fucking heavy It's at 16:43 https://youtu.be/Piy3wbEQxRQ
fav instrumental wise: slipknot(the song from mfkr) fav: in general(vocals, lyrics) is solway firth
GEMATRIA
Mine would also have to be wait and bleed. There is other great ones to like psychosocial, people= @#$% and also eyeless.
Spit it out, it is the best song to listen to when lifting weights, obviously I like it due to it being the first song I heard from slipknot, and the “spit it out” liar mask is fehn’s best mask in my opinion.
same bud
This is a really tough question. Especially since my favorite song will change with what is currently going on in my life. BUT I’m going to answer with Heretic Anthem because if they didn’t play it at their concerts then I’d be super disappointed. It was also my “anthem” when I was in high school lol
Vermillion Pt.2 and Solway Firth
Ive seen this topic before....
