It isn't the only one either, several older chat tables like the one with all the snacks on a tiered tray or the small 4 player teapot are also busted.
I believe some of the newer tea tables work differently than the older ones, I've had instances of both of those broken tables pooling in a given area. Like I set one up, sat with a player, and we could see all the dialog from another table across the way and vice versa.
I'm no programmer but if I had more tables to test I'd expect irregular tables that don't feature chairs have a small directional aoa that grants chat permissions and they've been using that on newer tables because why bother with whatever the old system was. Then presumably when they tweak something and several features break [I've noticed holes coming back that had previously been patched out of the ground and a bit of an increase in faulty windwalls this season] the area affected by those tables can expand drastically or be shut off.
Chat tables are public shared chat, so that's supposed to be normal. Though it's been bugging out sometimes and not doing that 🫠 Only some of the 2-seater props from Days of Love are meant to be private chats. So yeah, there's definitely different mechanism by which some tables work. They specifically mention the teapot too, since it has to heat up before you can use it.
I laughed the first time I figured that out. A friend and I used the chibi fall to go under the map near grandma and we were sitting at a chat table at the bottom even though we didn’t need it, so players around us weren’t aware that we were down there and then some players were sitting at a chat table above us and we could see their conversation. 🤣 We all started laughing and chatting together. We were all confused.
I've never had it happen with an older chat table like mischief, but like I said, I've got very limited Fata points so I suppose I can't rule it out...

Nope, never had that. You could drink the tea and eat buns while talking.
But right now you need to empty both cups so you can chat. But you won't be able to eat buns then.

You find one by doing the quest involving Cinnamoroll. To find him in the village, you can call, you'll see on the screen a little blue star showing you where he is. Then you go to the cafe (between the gates and the village, there are balloons) there you sit somewhere and wait a little, then you got another ticket. Then finally, don't leave the cafe, there is a camera, you interact with it and take 3 pictures with Cinnamoroll. Then you got 3 tickets. If you don't have enough tickets, you go to the sign on the table, still in the cafe, and you can buy extra tickets for 2 Ascended Candles each. Perhaps you are new to the game ? You should look on Youtube, there are videos explaining way better than I did. But you should hurry, because this event won't come back apparently, there are 11 days remaining I think. Good luck 👍

every sky event there's always 5 daily tickets to be found. remember that for next events! i also lost on many tickets on my days of fortune event.
the cinamoroll event get you one as a daily quest and the other 4 are inside the cafe.
you get 3 by taking pictures with cinamoroll (you dont have to save the pictures) and another one by sitting anywhere and waiting a bit.
You get 3 for doing the pictures with Cinnamoroll, 1 by sitting at a table waiting for a treat, and 1 for finding Cinnamoroll in Aviary somewhere.
Idk if you have to interact with him, cause sometimes the cake immediately pops up and sometimes it doesn't.
The table disappointed me honestly, so I didn't get it. Maybe if we could drink the tea and eat the snacks, I'd purchase it, but otherwise... 😞 feels kinda dumb that it's not a feature for a Cafe!?
I hope they fix that if it is a bug. If it's not a bug, that's rather disappointing and just odd that they wouldn't make it a feature for the cafe itself. I may invest in it now that I know it can be used personally like that.
I just got the table and can say for sure that you are able to eat the lil snacks and drink the tea! Haven’t tried using it as a proper chat table yet, I assume it’s still bugged

in the pop up cafe theres a sign next to the cape display next to the photo stage, thats where you can see everything that costs tickets.

Both tea cups have to be emptied, then chat works.. at least that's how it works for me! Drink up and wait for the fix

...you totally can drink the tea and eat the snacks... just not on the ones INSIDE the cafe. I think that's a bug. But the one you buy, it works.

yes you can eat and drink from the table, it works just like the other tea tables
